Chapter 1 Detention

2008, 10:58 AM

It was a busy day in Marygrove. The wind was howling silently in the streets. A car was passing on the silent road with no noise except the tires of a small, moving car.

In this car, there was a happy family of three. The grandfather, the mother, and the kid

pink, cheeks, suia 13-year-oldmuch,Roselinirl of 13, was busy staring at the beautiful landscape. Her beautplumplumpy lips were clamped together, and her pink rosy cheeks which suits her name so much blushed as the beautiful area kept giving her goosebumps.

But unfortunately, her goosebumps weren't just for the area; they were for the idea of her going to school. Those eyes that would stare at her today...

"Ugh!!!" She had to groan.

"Roseline, are you happy to go to school?" Her mother asked with a smile.

"I am not mom; you should have left me alone at home. You still went ahead to rent this car all because of me again," she snorted.

"Common rose, school is fun," her grandpa added, with a smile stuck on his face.

"But not for me, grandpa; they are all bullies at school. All they do is bully me, so how's school fun then?" She asked, and her mom sighed.

Her daughter had always complained about this school of hers. She wished she could just take her away from the school, but what can she do but struggle endlessly to make sure her small family never lacks? Even without a husband.

*at school*

"Goodbye, Roseline; behave yourself well, okay?"

"Yes, mom," she muttered and waved at them.

She walked into the school, then into her class, only to meet the teacher teaching as usual. She was so late and so in trouble today.

The teacher, Miss Miller, gasped seeing her walk slowly to class.

"Roseline Douglas, why are you late to class again?" She questioned herself, folding her arms under the busty area of her chest. Roseline couldn't care less, as she found no excuse to tell her teacher.

"I can't speak for myself, Miss Miller. I am just late," she said bluntly, and the whole class burst out in laughter, mocking her.

"After class, detention!"

"Yes,"Yes Miss Miller," she replied.

At least detention was for her. I hope she doesn't meet bullies in detention.

All eyes were on the girl who walked to her seat. She sat down with her head lowered.

****

Roseline walked into Miss Miller's office to see her seated with a frown on her face. A boy was also with her, with his head lowered. It seemed he was getting scolded about something bad he did. I hope he wasn't a bully.

"Miss Miller?" she called.

ordered"Sit!" Miss Miller commanded without sparing her a glance.

Roseline went to take her seat beside the boy who avoided her. At least he was also in detention.

"Coming late to class, (turns to the boy) hanging around the school?"

"I was only receiving a call, Miss Miller," the boy said for himself.

"Oh, why don't you go explain to the principal that you were just taking a quick call; that's all you did before I caught you red-handed!"

The boy rolled his eyes at the teacher, thinking she overreacted a lot.

"Lucian and Roseline, come with me."

She stood up and took the both of them to a room beside hers. A surprising room.

"Mrs. Claudia left over room?" They both exclaimed, their eyes widening.

The room had been left over for ages. It was rumored that this office was once the principal's office controlled by Mrs. Claudia, the woman with evil intentions who had left the school with police escorts. Since then, this place has been locked up.

She opened the padlock and led them in.

"But it would take days to clean this place up," Roseline complained, looking everywhere and at the same time feeling quite irritated.

"That's why you have an assistant. I want this place all cleaned up before Monday, got that?"

"But tomorrow is Saturday,"

"Yeah. Just today, tomorrow, and Sunday. You both are lucky; no one would be able to disturb you while you are both in detention. Just remember, before Monday, you both are really in serious trouble."

She points her finger at them, glaring at them.

"And Lucian, don't you dare do something dangerous!" She pointed to his face. He made an eye roll. The teacher walked away, leaving the two of them to themselves.

Roseline walked out to grab the gloves, dusters, and broom. She walked into the room to clean it up, thinking he would come with her.

Lazy ass Lucian picked up a chair, dusted it, and took his seat like the pampered child he was.

"Sorry? What are you doing?" She questioned with one of her eyebrows raised in question.

"Who do you think I am? I don't do minor jobs." Oh, she had forgotten that, as there were bullies everywhere in the school, there were also rich, pampered brats who thought they were on top of the world, and an example of such was this brat over here.

"You are not to do minor jobs." This isn't a minor job. It is detention."

"So?" he questioned.

"So?! (scoffs) "Would you get your lazy ass off there and do your work, cause I don't think I would touch anything if you don't stand up? Maybe we will both get into trouble!" She threatened, pointing right at his face.

"Are you threatening me?"

"If you count that as a threat, that would be a no. I am only reminding you of the trouble you could cause by just sitting down there doing nothing." She snapped angrily at him.

He clenched his fist and finally stood up to clean the damn room. He took the dusters, the broom, and a mask. He remembered that she wasn't wearing a mask. "That stupid girl," he cursed. He took another mask for the girl, who was busy cleaning the window.

"Stupid girl, she forgot her mask," he curses again.

He turned around to call her, only to see a goddess standing by the windows. The sun, which reflected on her face, made her look like a sun goddess. He never knew she had a set of blue eyes. It was beyond beautiful. It was magical. Her lips parted a little, making her look like a little princess in distress. A little princess is cleaning the window. It was wonderful.

With no shame, he walked towards Roseline, staring at her face with interest. Roseline looked at him in disgust. Why was he staring at her like that?

"Why are you staring at me like that?" she questioned.

"You are beautiful," he said shamelessly.

"Excuse me?" She raised her brows.

"You know, I feel like kissing you right now because you are really attractive. You are beautiful," he said with a smile as the girl scoffed at him. What is he saying now? What had his parents taught him? To have girls off to himself? He is nothing but a young spoilt brat! How old was he? Eleven? Saying kisses.

"What?!!"

"I think I am attracted to you," he pouted his lips cutely, and immediately, the girl walked away from him and suddenly ran out of the room to Miss Miller's, only to see it locked. She was disappointed. Gosh, she just wanted to report the boy who doesn't know how to filter his mouth. He was trying to take advantage of her.

She walked back to the room only to see him smiling mischievously. 'What psychopath have I met in detention?' She thought to herself. The minute Lucian saw her coming alone, His smile suddenly turned to a smirk.

"What?!! No, Miss Miller?" He teased her with a surprised look on his face.

"Please quit saying things that would make me so uncomfortable," she pleaded with him.

"How can Lucian Desmond make you uncomfortable?" He questioned, stressing the 'how?' like he was on top of the world.

"I've never heard of the name," she replied.

He smiled at her, then the two resumed their work, even though Roseline was uncomfortable. She could see his stare everywhere she went.

Chapter 2 The little brat

Roseline threw her bag onto the couch lazily, then took off

her shoes almost immediately. She was exhausted and upset. She met someone she wasn't supposed to meet today, and now she was totally upset.

Her mom walked in with her grandpa, who was busy reading the daily newspaper.

"Roseline, you seem late today. What happened?" She asked, giving the paranoid girl a cup of tea. Roseline quickly gulped it all down, then made a soft sigh.

"I am on detention." She broke the news as her mother gasped loudly.

"Oh my. I am so sorry, rose."

"Common mom, no one died," she snorted.

"Yeah, Kara, no one died, so what are you saying again, Rose? You were given a punishment by who?"

"Miss Marley,"

"Oh, that sassy teacher of yours. Like, "Who does she think she is?'

"She is my teacher, grandpa."

"Okay, okay, so you would be going back to your school tomorrow, right?" Grandpa asked as her mom widened her eyes in shock. Tomorrow. Tomorrow Saturday? Who does the teacher really think her daughter is?

"You can't work your detention on Saturday; why not next week?" Kara (her mom) asked worriedly.

"Mom, I will be okay. It's just detention, not hell." She rolled her eyes.

"I am just saying. What if something goes wrong and you are blamed for it? It will be Saturday tomorrow, Roseline, and there will be a few people in the school. I am just worried, Roseline." She spoke to her daughter softly and with worry.

"Oh, common mom, I will be okay. Will you please stop the drama of tomorrow being Saturday? (She looked at Grandpa.) See! Grandpa has no objections; he is cool with it."

"Yes, Kara, let her go."

"Okay, okay, fine, you can go do your detention... but!" Roseline widened her eyes. (Was she going to go back to her words?) After my hug."

Kara said she pouted her lips. Roseline chuckled before giving her mom a tight hug.

They both disengaged. Kara patted her head gently with a smile on her face.

"Make sure not to cause any trouble there, okay?"

"You should know me, mom. I don't cause trouble without anyone asking for it," she said proudly. She didn't tell her mother about Lucian, the rich, shameless bastard. She knew if she had told him, he wouldn't agree because being with such a person was trouble. Nothing else than that.

Kara smiled at her, then patted her head again.

The next day

Roseline walked to school the next day, then headed to the left-over office to see Lucian with his mobile phone. What was with him and mobile phones? She thought to herself as she walked up to him with a frown on her face.

"What are you doing?" She asked with her brows raised.

"What do you think I am doing?" He showed her the game on his phone.

Roseline sighed.

"What a spoilt brat!'

"Okay whatever. Can we get to work already?" Roseline questioned him, and Lucian grinned.

"Sure!"

He inserted the phone into his pocket, then grabbed the brooms and mops.

The two began working even though Lucian was stealing glances at Roseline. He does admire her in some way. He saw her as an angel and a sassy little cutie.

As a rich man's son, he thought he could have everything and also knew everything, so his mind slowly drifted to naughty thoughts.

While cleaning, a girl walked past them, taking pictures of the school.

She approached them with a camera.

"Hello," she said.

"Hey," Roseline replied.

"Hello," Lucian also replied.

"I am Rose, new at this school," she said, and Lucian smiled.

"Really? You are Rose? She is also . se, but a sassy one. You look nica rosehich Rose are you?" He asked with enthusiasm.

"I am Rosemary."

"That's nice; she is Roseline," Lucian points at Rose, who held a frown on her face.

"This spoilt brat,'

"Oh, that's nice. I got permission from the school to tour the school's surroundings with my parents. Van, show me the way to the school theater room."

"Sure," Roseline volunteered.

She told her the way to the theater. The girl then left, leaving Roseline with Lucian.

"I should have introduced myself to her. Why are you doing it for me?" She asked with a frown on her face.

"Common Rose. I am Lucian. Lucian Desmond!"

"Never heard of the name." Roseline ignored him, then turned back around to clean.

"What a sassy little girl!" Lucian scolded with a scoff.

****

After cleaning, Lucian sighted before finding his way to the seat. He felt so exhausted after doing the work he had never done before. He had never even worn his clothes all by himself before. His maids were always there to help him, and if not his maids, his mother. And now he was forced to work.

Roseline was still wiping the last window with the rag.

"We are done, right? Oh gosh, I am so exhausted," he said with a sigh.

"Lazy bones!" Roseline insulted.

"Hey rose..."

The minute he turned around to look at the girl still wiping the window, these words got stuck in his tongue. At that moment, he felt only he and Rose were the ones existing on Earth. The sun shone brightly on her, like she was an awakened goddess.

She looked so enchanting at that moment. Naughty thoughts started filling his mind again.

He couldn't stop himself this time. He stood up and walked towards Roseline in a dash.

He suddenly grabbed her hand, shocking the girl, who was still cleaning.

"What..."

He suddenly kissed the girl, jolting her out of her sanity.

"What is he doing? Why is he doing this?'

*CLICK!!!*

*CLICK!!!*

*CLICK!!!*

Roseline pushed him away almost immediately and slapped him.

"How dare you?"

"Ow!" Lucian exclaimed, rubbing his cheeks.

"What's the big deal, deary? It's not like you were a saint either."

"How dare you?! You cheap..you damn! You rascal!!"

"Yeah, yeah, I know, I am a flirt, I am a rascal, and I am a pervert. But still, I was a victim. Why are you blaming me for something you caused?" He bragged arrogantly.

"What have I caused? You kissed me!"

"Hush! The word girl It's not my fault you are so beautiful. You are highly welcome," he said, then walked away, leaving the girl in a daze.

'what?' Roseline thought to herself.

"You come back here this instant!" She pointed her index finger at him angrily.

"Why? Do you want another kiss?" He asked naughtily with a smirk on his face.

"No...you..."

He caught her off guard by pecking her lips again.

"Hey!!" She pointed to his face.

"That was beautiful, right?"

"You, this rich brat!"

"Thank you so much, Deary," he said, touching his chest playfully.

"What is wrong with you?"

Does this brat think everything was a play for him? How dare him?! Like, "how dare he?"

Chapter 3 A huge trouble in school

the next Monday

Roseline walked into the school building immediately after she was dropped off by her guardians. She was welcomed by excruciating gazes that were focused only on her. Her seniors were whispering stuff to each other as they passed by her. She was confused as she stared back at the people who stared at her like they had never seen someone like her before.

She somehow never cared at first, but when the gazes were too heavy on her, she furrowed her brows in confusion. She was deeply confused at the moment. She wondered why they were all staring at her like that. At one point, the group of boys who passed by her smiled mischievously at her, and she frowned at them. She wondered why they were smiling at her like that.

She walked to her class, and immediately she stepped in. She was welcomed by the eyes of all her classmates, who stared at her. She felt like melting at that minute. What is happening? Why is this? Is it time to panic, or was she still asleep? She thought to herself as she stared at them, including her teacher, Mrs. Miller.

"You should report to the principal's office, Roseline Douglas," she said to her, with a frown, as Roseline batted her lashes in confusion. The principal's office? Has she offended anyone? The last offense she committed was just coming late to class, and she knew that wouldn't be worth her going to the principal's office. Then why does she have to visit the principal's office when she has done nothing wrong?

The principal's office

Roseline stared at the corridor nervously as she knocked on the door softly.

"Come in," was the thick male voice she heard that made her jolt a bit.

She opened the door, then walked in. The view she saw made her widen her eyes in shock. Why was Lucian in there? And why was his head bowed like that? Had he committed an offense? Why were two teachers beside the principal? Did they both break something in the left-over room? Something precious that this brat family can't afford? She felt her heart skip a beat as they gazed at her.

"Sir?" She called. She turned to look at Lucian, who immediately shook his head the minute he saw her staring at him in question.

"Roseline Douglas?" He called as the girl batted her lashes over and over again, getting scared by the minute.

"Sir?" She answered.

The principal scoffed as he stared at Roseline and Lucian.

"How shameless are you two?" So shameless." The man sneered as Roseline frowned deeply at what he just said. Shameless? How was she shameless? What has she done?

"You two... How old are you? I am sure you, Roseline, must be twelve or maybe thirteen, and also Lucian Desmond, the same age, no difference, and you two dared to tarnish the image of the school," the principal accused, as Roseline got really confused. What was the principal saying? She thought to herself as she widened her eyes. Maybe they had mistaken her for someone else. She hadn't done something shameless. What problem does she have with the same sex or the opposite? Was it with Lucian? What did they both do?

"Sir, I don't understand," she said.

"Are you going to lie, Roseline Douglas?" The woman opposite the principal yelled at the confused girl.

"What lie? I really don't understand you."

"Show her the picture!" The principal said this to the woman who had cut Roseline off. The woman walked up to Roseline and handed her the phone to take a look at the picture on it. The picture that was displayed on the phone got her extremely shocked, and she widened her eyes, almost falling out of their sockets. This picture?

The picture of Roseline and Lucian kissing That kiss Lucian stole from her How did they get it? Who took this? And why did the person send it to the school? tagged nonsense on it.

"Can you explain that, Roseline?" The principal asked as she still shook her head in denial. This is wrong. Who sent this?

"I... I...I..." She shook her head, speechless.

"Just keep quiet, Roseline," the principal ordered, as Roseline was still shocked. This was terribly wrong. But Lucian should have told them that she was the innocent one. He was the one who stole a kiss, right? Then he should have explained to clear her name. She did nothing wrong.

"Have you gotten both of their parents digits?" The principal asked the other female teacher beside him. The woman nodded her head, calling both of their parents. Roseline was still shocked to her wits, as she was still standing with tears flowing down from her eyes. She felt extremely wronged.

*

*

There was a knock on the door, jolting them all as they all turned to face the door.

The door was widely opened, and Kara walked into the principal's office. She found the whole room tense and awkward. She stared at Roseline, whose face was stained with water. Were there tears in her eyes?

"Mr Hemsworth?" She called.

"Oh, you must be Mrs. Douglas," the man said. Kara stared at Roseline, then back at the principal.

"Yes, I am. I hope there's no problem, Mr. Hemsworth," she asked, as the man sighed softly. "Your daughter has committed an offense. An offense that could get her expelled from the school," the woman beside the principal said. Mr. Hemsworth looked at her and told her to shut up. Kara stared at her daughter, who was crying. What has she done? But Roseline wasn't the type to get herself into trouble to this extreme. What had she done exactly?

"Take a look at this, Mrs. Douglas," the man said, showing her the phone for her to check the picture herself. She stared at the picture as she widened her eyes in shock. This...how did this happen? Roseline can never do this. There must be an explanation. A good explanation for this.
