Cupid In Disguise: Winning My Baby Twin's Mommy Back

Author: : Klement Conquest
Genre: Modern
A fierce fire once devoured Kiera's affection for Colton. Five years later, she stormed back, vowing to reclaim her dignity. Unbeknownst to her, her mischievous son had an even sharper sense of vengeance. With wide-eyed innocence, the little one approached Colton. "Sir, could you help me, please?" he asked sweetly, only to pull a cunning prank. On another day, Colton found his room occupied. "Hey, kid, this is my space," he said. With a pout, the little one replied, "But I want to sleep with Mommy." Desperate to win Kiera's heart again, Colton soon realized his fiercest rival wore tiny shoes.

Chapter 1 We Need To Part Ways

Kiera Sutton was overwhelmed with happiness and shock as she stared at the result of her pregnancy test.

She was pregnant!

Colton Sutton's child was growing inside her!

After three years of marriage and countless attempts, Kiera had finally succeeded in conceiving Colton's child.

With the test report in hand and a heart full of joy, Kiera couldn't wait to tell Colton the news. Yet, as she rounded the corner, her eyes fell on a familiar figure.

Maeve Gill?

Indeed, it was Maeve, Colton's first love, and she had come back!

Driven by a mix of curiosity and concern, Kiera followed Maeve and was shocked to discover Colton, who should have been at his office, tenderly assisting Maeve, who was visibly pregnant, well into her second trimester.

"Colton, I'm okay. There's no need to worry; the baby is healthy," Maeve said, her voice tender, her smile bright.

"Still, let's get a doctor to check. This child will carry the Sutton name, and we must ensure everything is perfect," Colton replied.

The warmth in Maeve's smile and Colton's care cut deeply into Kiera's heart.

"What's happening here?"

Gripping the pregnancy test report harder, Kiera felt her nails digging painfully into her hand, a minor discomfort compared to the crushing pain in her heart.

Her path to pregnancy had been a dangerous one, shadowed by health complications that had led her to seek every possible treatment and consult specialists across numerous hospitals. She had risked her life multiple times to fulfill her dream of having Colton's baby. And now, on the very day she confirmed her pregnancy, she found out Maeve was also expecting Colton's child.

"Why are you here?" Colton's expression darkened immediately, the warmth he had shown Maeve just seconds earlier now replaced by a chilling frostiness, as if the temperature around them had plummeted.

Kiera, witnessing his sudden shift, felt a surge of anger and moved to challenge him.

"How can you even ask that, Colton? I am your wife, yet here you are at a prenatal appointment with her. What gives you the right to ask me that?"

Her sharp words captured the attention of everyone present.

At this, Maeve broke down, tears streaming down her face as she looked utterly distressed.

"Colton, this is all my fault. I shouldn't have come back and told you about the baby. If I had just stayed away or had the heart to end this pregnancy, this misunderstanding wouldn't have happened. I'm so sorry."

With those words, Maeve fled from the scene.

"Alaric, keep an eye on Maeve and watch her condition closely. If anything happens to that child, it's on you," Colton called out urgently, sending his assistant, Alaric Fuller, after Maeve.

Kiera realized Colton had never once shown her such concern.

"Colton, you bastard!"

Kiera swiftly lifted her hand, aiming to deliver a sharp slap to Colton, but he caught her wrist mid-air, squeezing painfully.

"Consider this, Kiera. You orchestrated our first sexual encounter three years ago, forcing me into this marriage. You should have realized then that I couldn't offer you the love you seek. I'm warning you, the child Maeve carries is vital to the Sutton family. Should you harm her in any way, I will make you pay."

Colton then pushed Kiera away forcefully.

Reeling from the shove, Kiera nearly toppled over but managed to stabilize herself using the wall. During this struggle, the pregnancy test report fell from her hand, landing before Colton.

"Are you pregnant?"

Colton's expression registered shock.

Kiera's laughter was tinged with tears as they rolled down her cheeks.

"Do you even care? I tried to clear up your misunderstanding three years ago, yet you chose not to believe me. Despite all my efforts and the love I've shown you over these years, you've continually overlooked it. Now, your first love is about to have your child. Yes, Colton, I love you deeply, but my self-respect is at stake now! I can't continue this way. I will end this pregnancy. We need to part ways."

As Kiera spoke, her heart seemed to shatter within her, but with firm determination, she turned on her heel and departed.

Colton's gaze sharpened abruptly.

With swift strides, he picked up Kiera and made his way towards the hospital exit.

"Who do you think you are, Kiera? You pushed me into this marriage, and now you're backing out of having our child? Did you think I'd just let you manipulate me like this? I'll decide what happens to the baby, not you!"

"Let me go, Colton! This child is mine, and you have no say in this!"

Kiera fought to free herself, but Colton's hold was unyielding.

"This child is yours? Without me, you wouldn't even be pregnant. Don't test my patience right now, Kiera!"

Colton's eyes, distinctively almond-shaped and upturned at the corners, narrowed intensely, his presence dominating the space around them, making the air feel oppressively heavy.

At that moment, his phone erupted with a ring.

To take the call, Colton placed Kiera on her feet but didn't loosen his grip, his need to control her painfully obvious.

Kiera felt a pang of sadness.

She often fooled herself into believing Colton cared for her, even if just slightly, as he seemed to now.

"What did you say? Maeve is attempting to take her life? Keep her safe; I'll be right there!"

Colton's expression tensed up immediately, and any fleeting sense of warmth Kiera had felt quickly evaporated.

Chapter 2 Colton, Your Heartlessness Knows No Bounds

Colton disconnected the call, his expression etched with concern and anxiety that clearly weren't for his wife.

"Go home, Kiera. We'll talk about this later," he said.

Kiera forcefully removed Colton's hand from her arm.

"Go ahead. She clearly matters more to you," she said with a thin smile, masking her shattering heart.

Colton seemed about to respond but ultimately chose to remain quiet. Quickly waving down a taxi, he made sure Kiera was seated inside before rushing away.

A bitter smile formed on Kiera's lips as she watched him disappear.

With Colton's attention always fixed on someone else, what was the purpose of holding onto their hollow marriage?

When Kiera reached their house, the servants were quick to greet her, but she hardly noticed them.

Her eyes scanned the monochrome bedroom that bore no mark of her personal taste, intensifying her feeling of insignificance. She laughed softly to herself, realizing just how much of a charade her marriage had been, and pondered if it was time to let it go.

All night, Kiera waited for Colton.

Not a single call came through. The overwhelming silence from his end was like a series of stings to her already aching heart.

"Sweetheart, I'm so sorry. I can't give you the complete family you deserve. But don't worry. I'll always love you," Kiera murmured through tears as she signed the divorce papers she had prepared overnight.

Each pen stroke was a painful cut into her heart, each line a reminder of her deep sorrow.

Once she finished, Kiera gently took off the wedding ring Colton had given her, placing it carefully on the signed papers.

That ring had been her most precious possession. Three years of wearing it had left an indelible mark on her finger, a permanent reminder of her love for Colton, much like the emotional scars that would linger.

Feeling like a failure in love, Kiera quickly gathered her things, determined not to falter again, and left the house.

When she was about to leave, Colton's bodyguard stepped in front of her. "Mrs. Sutton, Miss Gill is unwell, and Mr. Sutton is attending to her. He has instructed us to arrange for your immediate travel abroad," he said, his presence blocking her way and sparking anger in her heart.

"Why should I leave the country? I refuse to go!" Kiera retorted, her resolve firm.

"I'm sorry, but Mr. Sutton insists, and you must comply," the bodyguard said before abruptly knocking Kiera unconscious and hastily dragging her to a vehicle.

She was transported to a desolate warehouse, where she was stripped naked and positioned next to a man who touched her suggestively while cameras captured every degrading moment.

"Miss Gill, it's done," the man beside Kiera informed Maeve over the phone.

Maeve's voice was cold with malice. "Excellent. Release the photos online later. I doubt Colton would want a wife implicated in infidelity. Ensure you erase all traces afterward."

"Will do," the man replied before ending the call. He then began dousing the warehouse with gasoline, igniting it shortly thereafter.

As the fire raged, Kiera regained consciousness to a nightmare of flames and smoke engulfing her. Struggling for air, she realized the dangerous situation as the fire voraciously spread around her.

"Help! Help!" Kiera's voice rang out. She ignored her state of undress as she frantically struck the warehouse door with a stick, but the bodyguard outside the door just said, "Mrs. Sutton, forgive me. This was all Mr. Sutton's directive. He'll secure a choice gravesite for you."

Kiera stopped cold.

Could Colton genuinely be behind this?

Why?

Was it because, like Maeve, she was also expecting? Was his plan to marry Maeve and legitimize their unborn child?

"Colton, your heartlessness knows no bounds! How can you kill your own child?"

In a torrent of despair, Kiera yelled out, "Colton Sutton, I despise you! Loving you was my mistake. If there is a next life, I will make sure you taste the agony of being slain by the one you love most!"

Her desperate cries were lost in the roar of the flames. As smoke filled the air, her breathing became labored, her eyes heavy, and she collapsed, succumbing to the engulfing flames...

Five years later.

Alaric passed a dossier to Colton.

"Mr. Sutton, here's the profile for the designer from Vista Group based in Claklas. She arrives in Freley today. Should we send someone to pick her up from the airport? She's renowned internationally for her unique sports car designs. Without our partnership with Vista Group, securing her guidance would have been unlikely."

"Katherine?"

A slight narrowing of his eyes was Colton's response.

"Yes." Alaric confirmed eagerly.

In just two years, Katherine had risen to prominence as a notable sports car designer. Her debut model, the "Luna Wing," had clinched the top award at an international competition. Prior to its release, the wealthy were already vying to acquire it. With only two of these cars made, available at a steep price, the demand was overwhelming.

Now, with Vista Group facilitating her visit to Freley, Alaric pointed out the potential opportunity for Prime Group to keep her and her expertise here, given Colton's interest in high-end automobiles.

Colton's gaze sharpened.

He hesitated as he examined Katherine's profile and paused abruptly when he saw her full name.

Chapter 3 Could This Really Just Be A Coincidence

Kiera Katherine Fowler!

Kiera Fowler was the maiden name of his wife.

Something flickered in Colton's eyes.

"Are there any photos of Katherine available?"

"No, Vista Group is very protective of Katherine. Despite my efforts to secure a visual through various channels, I've been unable to obtain any. Rumor has it she's quite striking."

Alaric had been taken aback by the thought of a globally acclaimed female car designer, especially one noted for her beauty. It was uncommon to find women leading in the predominantly male car design industry.

It seemed somewhat doubtful, didn't it?

Indeed, how could a woman possibly be interested in cars?

Colton paid no mind to Alaric's internal skepticism. He continued to gaze at the name Kiera Katherine Fowler on the document, his eyes narrowing slightly, his thoughts unreadable. His fingers tapped a steady beat on the desk, filling the office with a charged silence.

"Mr. Sutton..."

"I will pick her up from the airport myself," Colton said decisively, his eyes sparking with a rare intensity.

Kiera Fowler...

Could this really just be a coincidence that the name matched so precisely?

Five years had passed since the fire, and despite the inferno's ferocity, which the police claimed could have incinerated Kiera's body, Colton never accepted that she was truly gone.

Now, intriguingly, Katherine shared the name Kiera Fowler!

He couldn't wait to meet this enigmatic designer.

Alaric was briefly taken aback. It had been years since Colton had personally picked anyone up from the airport, but he quickly regained his composure and set off to arrange it.

As Colton arrived at the airport, Kiera's plane had just touched down.

She walked through the security gate, her suitcase in tow. Her long, wavy brown hair and striking appearance caught the eyes of onlookers. Accompanying her was a young boy in white, his delicate skin and fluttering long eyelashes drawing admiring glances. He wore his baseball cap backward and savored a lollipop, strolling nonchalantly beside Kiera. His relaxed air contrasted with his captivating eyes, which bore a distinctive upward tilt, making others think twice before approaching.

"Archer, we're in Freley now, not Claklas. Lose the attitude and stick close," Kiera said, feeling a mix of frustration and sadness at her son's aloof demeanor.

Archer Fowler, Kiera's son, increasingly mirrored Colton's traits. Kiera sometimes marveled at the undeniable influence of genetics, though she secretly wished Archer would reflect more of her characteristics.

"Mommy, did I do something wrong?"

Archer's innocent shrug was laced with a hint of mischief.

Kiera laughed lightly and tapped his forehead gently. "Don't think you can use that charm on me. I know you too well. Just remember, now that we're in Freley, I expect you to stay out of trouble, understood?"

"Don't worry. I'm just here to see where you grew up. You're here for work, and I promise I won't cause any problems. Why do you look at me like I'm the opposition, Mommy?"

Archer's lips formed a pout, his expression one of mild annoyance.

Kiera playfully tousled his hair. "I have to keep reminding you because of your clever antics. Come on, let's get out of here. I'll call Charlee and see if we can crash at her place for a few days."

"Okay."

Archer's smile turned radiant, and he grasped Kiera's hand as they made their way out.

Just then, Archer's gaze was drawn to a figure in the distance.

The man's features and the cold aura he exuded were startlingly familiar. It was almost like he was looking into a mirror.

Was that Colton? The man who was supposedly his father?

Archer stole a look at Kiera, who was preoccupied with finding a contact in her phone, and suddenly grabbed his stomach.

"Mommy, my stomach's hurting badly. I need the restroom!"

Kiera's attention snapped to Archer as he bent over, his face reddening and his legs squirming as if he was in urgent need.

"I'll come with you."

She moved to lift him, but he took off running.

"It's urgent, Mommy! I can manage. Just wait here; I'll be quick."

Archer bolted away with surprising speed.

Kiera watched him go, a fond smile on her face, then turned her attention back to her phone.

"Charlee, it's Kiera. I've just arrived."

She was calling Charlee Quinn, a dear friend from years ago. Despite the time apart, their friendship had remained strong. Charlee, now a kindergarten teacher, was delighted to hear from Kiera.

"Where are you? I can take some time off to come get you. Are you still at the airport?"

Charlee was overjoyed.

"There's no need for you to come get us. Archer and I will just grab a taxi to your place," Kiera said as she walked. Unaware of her surroundings, she accidentally collided with someone.

"Oh, I'm so sorry. I didn't see you there," Kiera said as she glanced up, only to be struck motionless.

It was him!

Colton!

Indeed, fate often reunites people in the most unexpected ways!
