Author: : Rabbit
Genre: Modern
Working during summer vacation, a strange customer threw hot milk tea at me and even damaged the machines in the store. The milk tea shop sided with the customer and even took all of my wages to compensate for the damages. When I went to argue about it, I was crushed into minced meat by a large truck on the way. Opening my eyes again, I found myself back at the moment when the customer threw milk tea at me.

Chapter 1

Chapter 1

During my summer job, a bizarre customer threw hot milk tea at me and even broke the store's equipment. The milk tea shop sided with the customer and took my entire salary to cover the damages. When I went to argue, I was hit by a large truck on the way.

When I opened my eyes again, I was back at the moment when the customer threw the milk tea at me. The hot milk tea splashed on my face, making me shiver from the burn. I opened my eyes to see the woman, not satisfied with just throwing the milk tea, reaching over the counter to hit me. Instinctively, I stepped back a few paces to avoid her.

Seeing the woman's crazed expression, I was momentarily stunned before realizing that I had been given a second chance.

On this day in my previous life, the shop was unusually busy. After the woman placed her order, she started urging me to hurry up within two minutes. Even though I had already warned her that there would be a longer wait today, she didn't care and hurled a string of profanities at me.

"It's clearly because you're clumsy! What's with the excuses? If someone else were doing it, it would have been done by now!"

"People like you are just a burden on society! Your parents must have been really unlucky to have you!"

Verbal abuse wasn't enough for her; she frequently interfered with my work. I couldn't take it anymore and told her she could cancel her order if she couldn't wait. The woman lost her temper, accusing me of disrespecting her. She not only threw hot milk tea at me but also tried to overturn the machine to hit me.

After getting injured, I called the police. But when my parents arrived, they were embarrassed by me and forbade me from pursuing the matter. When I got home, they beat me up. My wounds became infected, and I developed a high fever that night.

The next day, the milk tea shop called to inform me that I had been fired, and my part-time wages were used to compensate the customer and cover the store's damages. When my parents saw that I didn't bring home any money, they kicked me out.

"That was supposed to be money for your sister's new computer! You useless thing, you can't even handle a small task!"

"If you don't get your wages back today, don't bother coming home!"

Under the hot sun, I went to the shop to ask for my money, but I couldn't hold on and fainted in the middle of the road. In the end, I was fatally injured by a speeding truck.

Fortunately, I was given another chance at life.

The woman, seeing that she hadn't hit me, angrily pushed the sealing machine on the counter towards me. I didn't dodge. Just like in my previous life, I let the machine's edge cut my arm, leaving a long gash. Then, I quickly hid in a corner and called the police.

The woman was not afraid at all and even more arrogant.

"Do you think calling the police will help? I'm telling you! You were the one who delayed my work time first!"

"You owe me triple compensation for the wages I lost today!"

The police arrived in less than ten minutes and took us both to the police car. On the way, the woman kept complaining to the police.

"She disrespected me! She deliberately wasted my time and then refused to serve me!"

"Isn't that just treating me like a fool? I was so angry that I had to punish her."

The woman spoke with such outrage that if the police hadn't stopped her, she would have tried to hit me again. I just stood quietly in the corner, explaining what had happened, looking scared and timid.

In my previous life, during the argument, she kept provoking me. I got so angry that I argued with her all the way, making the police think we were both at fault. When my parents came and forcibly intervened, they took me away, and the matter was dropped.

This time, I wouldn't be so foolish. She owed me, and I wouldn't let her get away with it.

Chapter 2

Chapter 2

When we arrived at the police station, the officers first assessed my injuries and then bandaged my wounds. During this time, they reviewed the surveillance footage from the tea shop. The video clearly showed the woman attacking me, while I remained calm and polite throughout, not uttering a single harsh word.

The police determined that the woman was at fault and asked if I was willing to settle the matter. I refused outright.

"No, I am not willing."

"I want her to be punished according to the law and to compensate me for my medical expenses and lost wages."

At that moment, two people burst through the office door.

"We're willing to settle! We agree to settle!"

It was my parents. They shouted at the police while dragging me aside, twisting my ear harshly.

"You good-for-nothing! You can't even keep a job! The moment we take our eyes off you, you cause trouble, don't you?!"

My father, ignoring the presence of the police, kicked me hard.

"Causing trouble is one thing, but you want to pursue this further? Are you trying to bring more shame to our family? This incident is already spreading all over the internet!"

"If the neighbors find out you got a customer arrested while working, how do you think they'll look at us?"

My father's anger escalated as he rolled up his sleeves, threatening to beat me. Fortunately, before he could act, the police pulled him aside, warning him sternly that any further violence would be considered obstruction of justice.

Reluctantly, my father stopped and tried to drag me home.

"Officer, we won't pursue this any further. I'll take this useless girl home right now!"

I shook off his hand forcefully, my voice resolute.

"I'm not leaving."

"I said I will pursue this to the end."

They were always like this. No matter what happened, they always blamed me, calling me the jinx of the family. In my previous life, as I lay dying, I wondered if I hadn't listened to them, if I had pursued justice despite my injuries, would I have survived?

Now that I had a second chance, I was determined not to repeat my mistakes.

"You little brat, do you have a death wish-"

My father was furious at my defiance, and my mother glared at me disapprovingly. I leaned close to her ear and whispered softly.

"If we go through with this, she has to pay at least twenty grand."

Greed instantly flickered in my mother's eyes. She pulled my father aside and whispered to him as well. Soon, their attitudes changed dramatically. They approached the police, rubbing their hands eagerly.

"Our daughter was beaten like this. Is there compensation?"

The police officer hesitated before replying.

"According to the regulations, the at-fault party must compensate for medical expenses and pain and suffering."

My parents, now convinced by my words, dropped their fierce demeanor and became indignant.

"Then we will pursue this to the end!"

"She beat our daughter like this; she must pay!"

In the end, the police followed my wishes and detained the woman for fifteen days. They also promised that once the compensation was calculated, they would ensure she transferred the money to me promptly.

On the way home, my parents kept warning me.

"The moment you get the money, you must hand it over to us. Do you hear?"

"If you dare keep it for yourself, you'll regret it."

I remained silent. Out of that twenty thousand, at least half would go to compensating the tea shop for their losses. As for the medical expenses meant for me, I won't give them a single penny.

Chapter 3

Chapter 3

As soon as I stepped into the house, my sister, who was lounging on the sofa, glanced at me and sneered.

"You can't even manage a part-time job, and you still have the guts to come back? Why didn't you just stay out there?"

"And you still dream of holding that person accountable... Luckily, Mom and Dad stopped you, or else our family would have been humiliated everywhere!"

Before I could say anything, my parents spoke up awkwardly.

"Daughter, your sister hasn't given up on pursuing the matter..."

As soon as the words were out, my sister exploded.

She jumped up and screamed at our parents.

"Why didn't you stop her?"

"And you, you wretch! It's not enough that you got yourself into trouble, you have to drag the whole family down with you, don't you?!"

After berating them, she turned to glare at me.

I knew why she was so anxious.

Because that woman was someone she had hired from the beginning.

She had always been lazy and unmotivated, performing poorly in school.

During the recent college entrance exams, she had insisted that I find a way to take the SATs for her.

When I refused, she and our parents bombarded me with phone calls, even threatening to come to my university and arrange for my expulsion.

To make her give up, I recorded our conversations and threatened to report her to the police if she continued to pressure me. Only then did she relent.

In the end, she could only manage to get into a private vocational school with her own efforts.

For this, she held a grudge and paid someone to come to the shop and cause trouble for me.

She even bragged that no matter how badly that person hurt me, I wouldn't dare to do anything about it.

These were things she had deliberately said to provoke me after I was beaten in my past life.

And indeed, in my past life, it had been like that.

But this time, because that woman had earned a bit of money from her, she was going to be detained...

I wanted to see how these two would turn on each other.

My parents had always spoiled her, and even now, as she yelled at them, they only responded softly.

"Your sister said that if we pursue this to the end, the compensation would be at least twenty thousand..."

"So what if it's twenty thousand? Are you crazy for money, extorting people over a trivial matter!"

My sister had always been spoiled. Whatever she wanted, our parents would give her without question.

She didn't care about the twenty thousand at all.

"I don't care!" She kicked over a stool, insisting.

"You go tomorrow and tell the police to drop the case!"

"Otherwise, I'll be so embarrassed I won't be able to live! I might as well just disappear!"

Threatening to die was almost her catchphrase.

And my parents always fell for it, agreeing repeatedly.

Mom, standing beside me, pinched my wound through the bandage to vent her anger.

"You useless girl! Can't make any money, and now you come home to upset your sister!"

From start to finish, no one even asked me once.

Do I agree?

Fine, if they wanted to make fools of themselves again, I would go along with it.

Early the next morning, my parents took me back to the police station.

This time, they kept me behind them and didn't let me speak.

Dad spoke to the officer in front.

"After thinking it over last night, we realized our daughter was also at fault, so we won't pursue it anymore."

"Please release her."

The officer looked serious.

"The person involved has already broken the law. It's not up to you to decide if she can be released."

"And..."

The officer glanced at my face, which was full of grievance, "Is dropping the charges really your daughter's wish?"

He had seen my parents hit me in the office yesterday.

Of course, he wouldn't believe them now.

Mom, standing beside me, pinched me hard on the waist, hidden from view.

"Of course it is!"

"Girl, you tell them."

I nodded directly, "Yes, I agree."
