As the helicopter soared above the clouds, Abigail Walker gazed out the window, her mind racing with thoughts of escape. Just hours ago, she had exchanged vows with the man who she hated the most, promising to cherish and honor him. Now, she was handcuffed to that very man, her wrist throbbing in pain.Handcuffed to her seat, her husband's grip on her wrist like a vice and his eyes sending flames of fear to her spine.
The helicopter banked sharply, and Abigail's stomach lurched. She felt a wave of panic wash over her. Where were they headed? And why was her husband treating her like a prisoner on their honeymoon?
"Where are we going, Sebastian?" she asked, trying to keep her voice steady.
Sebastian's cold, calculating gaze met hers. "Our new home, my dear. A place where you'll learn to behave."
The helicopter banked sharply, and the city skyline came into view, Abigail's heart sank. They were heading to New York, a place she had never been before. A place where she knew no one, and Sebastian held all the power to control her, to hurt her-
"Is this a wedding or a kidnap?" She glared at him but he gave no answer.
The handcuff dug deeper into her skin, a constant reminder of her captivity. Abigail knew she had to think fast, or risk losing herself forever in this toxic marriage. With a surge of determination, she turned to face Sebastian, her eyes locking onto his. "You will surely pay for this." she whispered, her voice barely audible over the roar of the helicopter.
Sabastine's smile was icy. "We'll see about that, my dear."
She stared out to the patchwork of fields and lovely vegetation below, she soon realized she just entered a death trap ." Would she ever escape this nightmare, or was she doomed to be trapped forever?"
Few hours ago,
Abigail's eyes were fixed on the contract in front of her, the words blurring together as Sebastian's cold, calculating voice echoed in her head,"Sign the contract, Abigail. Marry me, and your brother's life will be spared. Refuse, and... well, let's just say I have a team of skilled individuals waiting to carry out my instructions."
Abigail's eyes widened in horror as Sebastian's menacing gaze bore into hers, she took a look at the men who had glares that nearly froze her to death, the guns they all held looked loaded and ready to be shot.
She looked at him immediately,His eyes, dark and menacing, bore into hers, leaving no doubt that he would carry out his threat. She swallowed in fear .
Sebastian's hand grasped hers, his grip like a vice, as he thrust the pen toward her. The contract lay before her, its words blurring together in a sea of terror. Abigail's mind raced, her thoughts screaming in protest, but her voice was trapped in her throat. She kept reading the contract even when she knew what was written on it.
Her brother's face flashed before her eyes, his bright smile and laughter now replaced with a haunting fear. He wasn't supposed to be punished, he had done what he thought was right for their father. She knew Sebastian's cruelty was not to be underestimated. He would stop at nothing to claim her as his own.
With a shaking hand, Abigail took the pen, her signature scrawling across the page like a betrayal. Tears pricked at the corners of her eyes as she met Sebastian's triumphant gaze, her heart sank in agony as the pen fell from her fragile wet hand.
He took the contract from her, snatching her arm with the other hand. His nails dug into her flesh and she let out a shrill cry of pain. Not minding her pain, he dragged her.
"I've done what you wanted, I want to see my brother." She protested, slapping him lightly on his arm to free her but he held a tighter grip on her.
Abigail could feel his finger nails press through her veins. This man was surely a monster without a heart. Before she could utter another word, she was blindfolded and thrust into a car. Without an idea of what was happening, the car started and she felt the engine rolling to her doom.
After a short drive, the car stopped and the blindfold was removed. It didn't take her long to figure out it was a wedding ceremony. She was quickly dressed in a white dress, she wore it sorrowfully consoling herself she was doing it for the wellbeing of her family. Her brother had stolen from Sebastian's company and this was the only way to keep him safe.
Abigail stood beside her husband, her voice reciting the wedding vows like a soft murmur. Her gaze, however, was fixed on the chilling scene unfolding nearby. Her brother was being held at gunpoint by a hulking figure, one of Sebastian's henchmen. He had not trust her with the wedding vows,
As the priest spoke, Abigail's words came out mechanical and detached, her mind racing with desperation. She was trapped, forced to exchange vows with a man she didn't love and hated so much, while her brother's life hung in the balance.
With each promise, her voice trembled, her eyes never leaving her sleeping brother's face, they had drugged him with a substance which made him sleep. She was glad he wasn't awake to witness the torture his only sister was going through. She felt like a pawn in a twisted game, her happiness and freedom being brutally sacrificed. As the ceremony progressed, Abigail's thoughts grew more disjointed, her heart heavy with the knowledge that her future was being forged in darkness and torture.
Sebastian's grip on her hand tightened, his smile was a cold, calculated facade. As the ceremony ended with a forced kiss, Abigail's lips numb as Sebastian's claim of ownership. She was led away into the car as a lamb towards sacrifice.Sebastian had not even given her a chance to embrace her poor brother, he had promised to free him once he was awake and she had no choice but to believe.
After the wedding ceremony, Abigail was forced by her new husband into a waiting helicopter. His grasp on her arm tightened like a vice, dragging her toward the waiting helicopter. The rotor blades whirred to life, casting a menacing shadow on the ground below. The helicopter's door slammed shut as Abigail's mind raced with thoughts of escape, but her husband handcuffed her to the seat.
As she recalled all that had happened, tears welled down her eyes. Sabastine tried her tears with a handkerchief,
"Save your tears, my dear. You will need it soon." He spoke with mockery and a dirty smirk on his face.
Sophia's eyes sparkled as her fingers danced across the glittering jewels on her neck, her eyes scanning every stone, her reflection in the mirror radiant with excitement. Tonight's party was going to be unforgettable, and Anne who sold the best jewelry sets got her covered.
" Try this one, you will look so beautiful with it." Anne, her friend, smiled knowingly as she presented Sophia with another box of a more sparkling design.
Just as Sophia was about to try on the diamond necklace, Anne's phone buzzed, and as she glanced at the screen, her expression turned somber. "Sophia, I need to show you something." The tone sent a shiver down Sophia's spine.
Sophia hesitated, but Anne's insistent gaze drew her in. With a flick of her thumb, Anne revealed a photo on her phone. Sophia's gaze froze on the image: Abigail, her friend, beaming beside Sebastian, the boy Sophia had loved since childhood.
"This is a joke, right?" She asked, not wanting to believe.
"It's all over the news, Sophia. The poor ruggard played you for a fool." She answered.
Sophia's vision blurred, her mind reeling with a mix of emotions. Fury, betrayal, and disbelief swirled together like a toxic storm. The room began to spin, and Sophia's vision blurred completely. She stumbled backward, the diamond necklace slipping from her neck, as she struggled to comprehend the magnitude of Abigail's deception. How could Abigail do this to her? To her family? Their friendship? After everything she did for her poor father.
Without a word, Sophia turned and strode out of the boutique, leaving Anne's concerned calls and the glittering jewels behind. The night's party, was obviously cancelled untill further notice.Sophia was determined to confront Abigail and uncover the truth behind this shocking betrayal. Abigail really got some explanation to do.How could this happen? Sebastian, the one who had promised to wait for her, to love her forever, had married her best friend in secret. This was so hurtful,
Sophia's sleek, red sports car glided up the winding driveway to the Knight's family home. The mansion loomed ahead, its grandeur and opulence a stark contrast to the turmoil brewing inside Sophia's heart. The imposing structure was a masterclass in elegance, with towering spires, gleaming marble, and expansive windows that sparkled like diamonds in the sunlight.
As Sophia emerged from her car, the soft rustle of her designer dress echoed through the stillness, Her heels clicked against the pavement with a rhythmic intensity, each step a declaration of her determination. The heavy metallic door swung open, revealing a foyer that shimmered like a palace. Crystal chandeliers refracted rainbow casting a ray of colors across the marble floor.
Sophia's gaze swept the lavish interior, her eyes locking onto the figure standing before her – Sebastian's mother, Mrs. Knight. Her face, a mask of elegance and refinement, betrayed a flicker of unease, a whispered secret that only Sophia was privy to. The air was heavy with anticipation, the silence between them a palpable force, as Sophia prepared to unleash the fury that had been simmering within her,
"Mrs. Knight, we need to talk."
Her expression serene, but a hint of unease in her eyes "Of course, Sophia. What's on your mind?"
With her voice deepen with venom, Sophia said "You know exactly what I'm talking about. You promised me I'd be your daughter-in-law, and yet...and yet you married Sebastian off to someone else!" Sophia fought back to hold her tears.
"Sophia, dear, I know this may come as a shock to you, but-"
Sophia quickly interrupts, her voice rising "A shock? You call this a shock? You call betraying me, breaking your promise, a shock? You tore my heart out, Mrs. Knight."
"Sophia, please understand-" Her composure was breaking.
"No, you understand! You understand that you used me, manipulated me, and discarded me like trash! Why? Why did you do this to me?"
Mrs Knight answered ,her voice barely above a whisper "Because, Sophia...because Sebastian was never truly yours to claim. He was always meant for someone else...someone more suitable."
Sophia let out a bitter laughter, "More suitable? You mean someone with a better family history, a bigger bank account? Someone who can further the Knight's legacy?"
"Sophia, that's not fair-"
"Fair? You want to talk about fair? You destroyed me, Mrs. Knight. You took away the one person I loved, the one person who made me feel alive. And you did it with a smile on your face and a lie in your heart!"
"Sophia, Watch your language." She warned
"You're dead to me, Mrs. Knight.Dead! And I will never forgive you for this ." With her eyes sharp as a razor and her skin fuming red, she left the house with those words .
Sophia slammed the car door behind her, her anger and frustration boiling over. She was still fuming from her encounter with Sebastian's mother and now she was determined to take matters into her own hands. Just as she started the engine, her phone rang. She snatched it up, expecting an apology from her but the voice on the other end was unfamiliar yet striking an untold resemblance.
"Sophia, it's Rachel. I work for Sebastian's team. I thought you should know... he's going over for a honeymoon trip in New York with Abigail."
Sophia's eyes narrowed, her grip on the steering wheel tightening. "What? I thought they just got married? When did this happen?"
"They're staying at the Central Park Hotel. I thought you'd want to know, given your... history with Sebastian and you know what I want with this information."
Sophia's mind raced. She couldn't let Abigail get away with this. "Book a flight for me, Rachel. I need to be on the next available flight to New York and we would discuss your own side of the deal when I arrive."
Rachel hesitated for a moment before responding, "Already done, Sophia. Your flight leaves in two hours. You'll arrive at JFK by tonight."
Sophia's smile was cold and calculated. "Thank you, Rachel. You've been very... helpful."
With a fierce determination, Sophia put the car in gear and sped out of the area muttering,"Honeymoon my ass!"
They arrived in New York City at dusk, Sebastian retrieved the cuffs from Abigail. The helicopter had landed on the hotel's rooftop so they gradually made their way to the stairs of the building where they could find the room booked for them.
They approached the reception desk, where a friendly staff member greeted them with a warm smile.
"Welcome, Mr. and Mrs. Alexander. Congratulations on your wedding. I'm Rachel, your personal concierge during your stay. Let me show you to your room."
Sebastian nodded as his phone vibrated, he looked around with his eyes scanning the lobby as if searching for someone. "Abigail, go ahead with Rachel. I need to check on some business updates. I'll meet you in the room shortly."
Abigail hesitated, feeling a pang of uncertainty but she had to obey his command.Rachel led Abigail to a sleek, silver elevator, and they ascended to the top floor, the city skyline unfolding like a breathtaking canvas before her .As they walked down the hallway, the soft carpet and muted lighting created a sense of intimacy, and Abigail couldn't help but feel like she was floating on air. She couldn't help but admire the luxury that surrounded her.
They stopped in front of a door adorned with an elegant silver plaque bearing their names. Rachel produced a key card with a flourish and opened the door, revealing a stunning suite that took her breath away.
"Welcome to your home away from home, Mr. and Mrs. Alexander. Enjoy your stay."
As Rachel disappeared into the elevator, Abigail stepped inside, her eyes drinking in the opulent decor and the dazzling view of Central Park. But as she turned to wait for Sebastian, she couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. Where had he gone, and why did she feel like she was alone in this grand, luxurious space?
Abigail's eyes wandered to the clock for what felt like the hundredth time, her patience wearing thin as the minutes ticked by. She had waited long enough. Sebastian had said he would meet her in their suite shortly, but "shortly" had turned into hours. She didn't care about him but she felt really lonely, she was scared.
With a growing sense of unease, Abigail decided to take matters into her own hands. She slipped out of the suite, her heels clicking on the marble floor as she made her way to the hotel lobby. She was still wearing her wedding gown. Maybe Sebastian was stuck in a meeting or had gotten held up at the bar. Anywhere he was didn't matter, she was not someone who was used to staying alone in a room.
As she scanned the crowded room, her eyes landed on a familiar figure -Sebastian stood in the corner, his eyes locked on a stunning lady. The woman was stunning, with long, curly hair and a red dress that left little to the imagination. A sense of familiarity blew but she couldn't tell who the lady was because she couldn't see her face.
Abigail's heart sank as she watched, her mind reeling in disbelief. The woman's lips were pressed to Sebastian's, their kiss passionate and intimate.
Abigail felt like she'd been punched in the gut. Her vision blurred, and her legs trembled beneath her. She mustered every ounce of strength to turn and walk away, her eyes streaming with tears.
*******
Sebastian's eyes snapped back into focus as he broke off the kiss with Sophia, his chest heaving with a mix of guilt and regret. He took a step back, his hands raised in a defensive gesture, as if to ward off the temptation she posed.
"Sophia, stop. We can't do this," he said, his voice firm but laced with a hint of longing.
Sophia's eyes narrowed, her red lips pouting in protest. "What's wrong, Sebastian? You seemed to enjoy it a moment ago."
Sebastian's face twisted in a grimace. "I'm a married man, Sophia. I love my wife, Abigail. I can't do this to her."
Sophia's laughter was like a knife, cutting through the air with a mocking tone. "Love? You call that love? You're here with me, you left your wife on your honeymoon?"
Sebastian's jaw clenched, his eyes flashing with anger. "Watch your tongue, Sophia or else I will forget about our good old times. It's all over between us. I have moved on and I suggest you do the same."
Sophia's face fell, her eyes searching his face for any sign of deception. For a moment, they locked gazes, the tension between them palpable. Then, with a quiet huff, Sophia grabbed him by the collar, " You betrayed me. After everything I did, I Had to let down my status just to be your wife and this is how you repay me? I thought the news was all fake. I had to take the quickest flight here."
He forcefully removed her hands from his collar, "it's my wedding suit you're ruining. Better leave before I throw you out of the hotel myself."
He pushed her lightly and she fell to her knees hurting her ankle, she screamed in pain to let him know but he left not caring or looking back to her. He didn't want Abigail to find out about Sophia.
His phone vibrated in his pocket, he checked the caller and it was Bruce.
"Is he in safe hands? Make sure you inform them I want no harm to come to him."
He ordered with a commanding tone, ending the call when he was done with his instructive order.
Sebastian swung open the door to the suite reserved for them, a cheerful smile on his face. "Hey, beautiful! Dinner is waiting downstairs. It's part of our honeymoon package, remember?"
Abigail Walker stood frozen, her arms crossed, and eyes blazing with anger. "I'm not going anywhere with you."
Sebastian's smile faltered, confusion etched on his face. "What's wrong, Abigail?"
She took a step forward, her voice low yet venomous. "You know exactly what's wrong, Sebastian. I saw you kissing a lady in the lobby."
Sebastian's expression didn't change, no denial, no apology, just a shrug. "It's my life, Abigail. I can do what I want and I thought you didn't care. It's not a real marriage, remember?"
Her heart felt like it had been punched again, the pain radiating through her chest. "You're my husband, Sebastian. We're on our honeymoon. And you're kissing another woman?" She didn't realize when those words came out, she had been overwhelmed with emotions.
Sebastian snorted, rolling his eyes. "Don't be dramatic, Abigail. It was just a kiss. It meant nothing."
She felt a sob rising in her throat, but she swallowed it back, her anger and hurt boiling over. "Get out, Sebastian. Eat your dinner alone. I don't want to see your face right now."
Sebastian's eyes flashed with anger, but he turned and walked out of the room, leaving Abigail standing alone, tears streaming down her face. The door closed behind him, and she collapsed onto the bed, her heart shattered into a million pieces. She had gotten married to a man who didn't care about her.
