Chapter One

Kimberly was sitted in her office, as she ruffled her hair in anger. She was supposed to have a

meeting in the next five minutes, but she figured out that she forgot the U. S. B at her place of

residence. Her house is far away and going there now won't solve anything cause the meeting

was gonna hold soon. And she knows her boss is grumpy and all , he'll fire her immediately. She

was still thinking of what to do , when her friend who also works in the company walked in. Why do you look tense? is something wrong?

I forgot the U. S. B at home, and the meeting is in five minutes". OMG you're going to be in serious trouble with the boss, you know how he is"

"Instead of talking about that, can you just give me an idea of what am going to do?" Well you have no choice but to tell him , and it must be now. Just don't talk back at him when he

says something silly, I know you kim"

I've heard you" she said

After the little advice she was given, she ran as fast as her legs could take her, so she could

meet up with her boss. When she got to his office, she knocked hastily. Come in" he said, and she walked in immediately. Sir I have something to tell you I...." she was trying to say , but he cut her off with a bang on the

table. I don't have time for your complains, let's just go to the board room, our guests are there

already" he said, as he stood up. " But sir... " she was saying

"No buts just keep what you have to say for later, and just follow me to the board room. They exited the office, and in less than two minutes, they got to the board room. They were all

sited , with smiles on their faces. "Good morning gentlemen, sorry for keeping you waiting, so can we go to what we're here for?

"he said, and they nodded positively. " Get to it , and don't mess up cause I must not loose this opportunity" he whispered to Kimberly, and she swallowed hard . "Diva company have made computers that are placed into groups according to their size, processing , power , design and cost. These groups are :Super computers ,Main frame

computers , Micro computers , Personal digital assistants (PDAs) and Embedded computers. Main frame computers are really powerful and can have hundreds of simultaneous users . Micro

computers are commonly used at home, and also in schools. Children can access anything

through the use of this. Personal digital assistants which is also called (PDAs) can be used to

input data using a stylus (pen) on a touch -sensitive screen . "Kimberly was saying, but she was

cut off.. " We've talked about this before , can't we just see the photos?" one of the men said, and

Kimberly swallowed nothing. " Please calm down , it'll be shown on the projector now"the boss said, and he shot Kimberly a

glare. " Where's the U. S. B?" he asked , and she began to tremble. " Isn't there any picture of your company products or what ? I'm out of here" one of the men said, and he stood up. " Why don't you all just calm down, I think we should reschedule this meeting" one of the man

said, and they walked out angrily. " Thanks for saving my butt uncle" Robert said and he turned to Kim. "To my office now" he yelled and she flinched. She ran to his office with the scary look on her face.

🌻Kimberly's POV 🌻

I knew he was obviously going to fire me, but I did as he said. He walked in with rage, and he sat

on his chair with anger written all over his face. "Where's the U. S. B" he said, and I gulped

I forgot it at home" I said, and I opened his eyes in shock. "How can you be so careless, what's it even doing in your home? I asked you to keep it in your

office, cause I knew we were going to use it today" he said, as he ruffled his hair. I'm sorry sir" I said and he hit his table.

Don't tell me sorry , that's all you know how to say. You made me look like a fool in there, what

type of human being are you? You're just too childish, I never knew you were this dumb" he said

and I couldn't take it in anymore. I know what I did was wrong, but that doesn't give you the right to insult me. You're just a

grumpy jerk who doesn't know what to do than to get angry" I said and he opened his eyes in

shock

So you dare talk back at me? You know what ? you're fired" he yelled , and sighed

I knew you were going to fire me anyway, well I don't need your stupid job, just eat it and go to

hell jerk" I said, and I stormed out of his office.. Who the hell does he think he is? how dare he insult me" I said as I went to my office to get my

things. "You're totally jobless now" I said inwardly, and I palmed my face.

🎱 Robert's POV 🎱

Like who the hell does she think she is? how dare she talk back at me?" I said, as I was really

mad. Kimberly has been a very good worker for the past few years she's been working for me, but I

don't know what got into her. She changed suddenly and it makes me angry. She made me look

like a big fool during the meeting and I'm sure I won't get the contract. I was still in thoughts, when someone stormed into my office without knocking. "Hey bro" Olivia said and I rolled my eyes. "I'm not in a good mood, please come back later" I said, and she opened her mouth

Like seriously? you're throwing your only sister out of your office?" She said and I stood up. It's not like that, it's just that I think am going to loose the contract, that's why am so mad" I said

and she sat in front of me. "Is it that or you're still thinking about that Ava of a girl. Her wedding with dad is this week" she

said and I rolled my eyes. Why do you have to remind me about that? thinking about it makes me angry and irritated" I said

and she cleared her throat. Ava is my ex girlfriend, she broke up with me because she wants nothing but money. I met her in

a coffee store some years back, and we fell in love. During our relationship, she began to

request for money. At the start, I thought she needed it for something important , but when it

became her hubby, I began to suspect her. I stopped giving her money, and she became angry.

Some months later, I found her in bed with my dad . I was really angry , and really ashamed of

my dad. Ever since mum died, dad hasn't been with any woman, but does it have to be my own

woman?, I knew full well that all she wanted was my dad's money , and now their getting

married. "Earth to Robert " Olivia said, bringing me back to consciousness

"What's on your mind?" she said and I rolled my eyes. "What are you even doing here? aren't you supposed to be at the firm?" I said and she frowned. I own the firm, so I can choose to be absent any time I like" she said, as she smirked. Anyway I'm not here for that ,I just want to tell you about my new case" she said and I rolled my

eyes. Not again 😒

Chapter Two

🎱 Robert's POV 🎱 "Anyway I'm not here for that, just want to tell you about my new case" she said and I rolled my

eyes. Not again 😒.. There's this new case am working on, it's about a woman who was maltreated by her husband, she couldn't bare the pain anymore so she committed suicide. Before strangling herself, she

wrote a letter and the content was her story. How her husband use to beat her, abuse her

mentally, physically and sexually" she said and I was kind of touched. How can someone be so wicked? isn't she human?" I said and she turned to me . Most guys derive pleasure in seeing ladies hurt, just because they're stronger than them.They

know they're helpless, not all of them can fight back" she said and I obviously knew she was

angry.

I was still listening to her what she was saying when my phone beeped. I removed it from my

pocket then checked the content of the message.

📃"We no longer want to do business with diva company, we've found a better place. The deal is

off, which means we won't be doing business with you" I read out loud and I threw my phone on

the floor. Why did they do that? I thought they were going to reschedule the meeting" Olivia said and I

furrowed my brows in anger

They don't know what they're missing out on, I'll make sure I get the money to widen the

company, and I'll rub it in their ugly faces" I said and palmed my face. How are you going to do that? remember you don't have that much money," she said and I

sighed. Ohh wait a sec, what about your inheritance?" the one mom left" she said and I stood up

I can't get a hold of it, mom left a condition. I must be married, and the inheritance will be for me

and my wife. Where will I possibly get a wife? you know I hate ladies now" I said

🌻Kimberly's POV 🌻

After I was done packing my stuff ,I decided to go visit my mom. I haven't visited her for a while

now and I'm sure she'll be happy to see me. I boarded a taxi then I stopped in front of the

hospital. I paid the taxi man and then I walked slowly into the hospital. "Good morning ma'am may I help you?" a lady dressed in white which I suspected to be the

assistant nurse said. "I'm here to see Stella Kendrick ,she's my mom" I said

She's in ward 124, I'm sure she'll be pleased to see you. She has been talking about you so much, nice things oo" she said and I smiled. "Thanks" I said, then I left for her room. "Kimberly is that you?" she said as I ran to hug her.

I haven't seen her for two months now, cause I was really busy with work.

"Why are you here this early? didn't you go to work" she said and I sighed.

I wasn't raised to be a liar, I knew telling her the truth was the best thing to do. "I was fired mom" I said, and she held my hands. "It's not the end of it dear, I'm sure that you'll see another job. But for now , can I go home with

you? cause staying in this hospital will increase the bills" She said and I frowned. "No mom what're you saying? you can't possibly leave here, not in your state. You need to stay

here , so you'll recover, don't worry about the bills it's my job to get it" I said and tears rolled

down her face. "I really thank God for giving me a daughter like you, without you I won't be alive. I pray you'll

never suffer , you'll have happiness in your life" she said, and I pecked her cheek.

I knew getting a job wasn't going to be really easy, but I had to find a way. After we were done

with our discussion, I made up my mind that I was going to look for a legal job. I was on my way

out , when I bumped into Mr Smith ,my boss's uncle. "Kimberly wow it's a great surprise to see you here ,I'm sorry about the way Robert treated you. If I may ask , is anything wrong?cause I'm surprised to see you in this hospital" he said and I

itched my brows

My mother's illness was personal, I didn't tell anyone apart from my friend Jane. But he asked

nicely, so I had no choice but to tell him. "I came to visit my mom ,she has lung cancer" I said, and he looked at me with sadness written

on his face. "I'm so sorry about that, I can imagine what you're going through, my wife has tumor, and she's

going to undergo surgery tomorrow, am really worried" he said and I was shocked. "Just have faith, I know she'll make it sir" I said and he smiled. "Thanks my dear, please take care of yourself. I know getting another job that suits you won't be

very easy ,so just have faith. I'll try to talk to Robert , maybe he can hire you back" he said,and I

smiled. "That'll be so nice, thanks so much sir" I said,and I walked out. "If I get this second chance, I'll use it wisely. Kim you need to control your anger issues" I said to

myself and I boarded a cab to my house. T

Chapter Three

💠Mr Smith's POV 💠

I left the hospital with a heavy heart, cause I was really worried about my wife. Ever since she

was diagnosed with tumor,bI became scared cause I don't want to loose my wife. I entered my

vehicle, then I drove to my nephew's company. Robert is the son of my late sister, and ever since

she died have been his partner. I help him sort out his problems and he pays me for it. I knocked

his office door and no one answered, I had no choice but to walk in. "Why didn't you check who it was at the door" I said and he raised his head up

"I'm so sorry uncle, I didn't know that you were the one, I thought it was the secretary and I didn't

want disturbance" he said and I sat in front of me. "Why do you have a blue face? what's wrong?" I said,and he sighed. "I lost the contract, they sent me a text telling me that they're no longer interested in partnering

up with us" he said and I opened my eyes in shock. "But they asked for the meeting to be rescheduled, so why this?" I said and he cleaned his face. "I don't understand too, and it's all her fault. The childish girl I call a P.A, I gave her a simple task

and she couldn't keep to it" he said in anger. "Talk of Kimberly, I bumped into her at the hospital today. The same hospital where your aunty

is being treated, I was really surprised to see her. I found out from her that her mother has lung

cancer and she's being treated there. Getting a new job won't be easy for her and you know her

mum is sick. Why don't you forget about what happened, and just take her back" I said and he

rolled his eyes

"That's not possible, I can never do that. After all she did she even insulted me dhe deserves to

suffer" he said and I shaked my head

"Don't ever wish bad for anyone cause you don't know what the future holds. Your life can

completely change with that sentence you just made, so be careful about what you wish for

someone" I said and he sighed

"Uncle I have a question" he said and I gave him the go ahead look .

"Is it compulsory for me to be married before I get my inheritance?" he said and I smiled. "Your late mum left that as a compulsory thing, you can't get ahold of it until you're married" I

said.

said. Hearing what he said made me angry, I knew I wasn't going to get any money if I don't marry

someone. While I was still in full of thoughts, an idea popped up. "Earth to Robert" My uncle said, bringing me back to conciousness

What're you thinking about? he said and I ignored his question. I'll be leaving now, I just came to check on you" he said and he walked out. As soon as he left, I picked up my second phone because I destroyed the first one. I dialed Kimberly's number and she picked at the second ring..

📞 Hi! why are you calling me" she said,and I hissed

📞 Let's meet up, I have something to tell you" I said and I heard her huff over the phone

📞 is that a command or what? remember you're not my boss anymore" she said and I frowned. This girl is so rude.. 😒

📞 Meet me at montego's by 8pm sharp, it'll be better for you if you come" I said and hunged up. "B*tch"I cursed , and I sat comfortably on my chair

🌻Kimberly's POV 🌻

I wonder what he wants to say to me, but I just pray he wants to re - hire me. I was pretty rude to

him and I'm sure he'll be really angry. I checked the time and it was 6pm, which means I have 2

hours left. I picked out a dress then I put it on my bed. I went to the sitting room to watch a

movie So time will move faster . I didn't realize when I slept off. ▶▶

The sound of my phone woke me from my sleep, I checked the screen ,and "Boss" was written

on it. I picked at the second ring.

📞 Do you know what the time says? I told you to meet me around 8pm ,and now it's 8:40pm"

He said and I yawned. Hearing this, I ended the call then I ran to the bathroom to take me bath. I did the necessary

things then I picked a bag that'll go with my outfit. I boarded a taxi and in less than an hour I got

there. I sighted him and on seeing me he frowned. "I'm so sorry ,I didn't..." I tried to say ,but he cut me off

"Just keep your excuses to yourself, I don't need it, I'm here for business and not chit -chat" he

said and I rolled my eyes before sitting. "What do you want to say?" I said and crossed my legs. "I have a deal and both of us will benefit from it. The contract was rejected and the only way I

can get money is by getting a hold of my inheritance. I don't want to ask my dad for any money

and I can't get my inheritance without getting married" he said. "So?" I said, as I was eager to hear what he has to say. "I'm trying to say that why don't we get married, your mom is sick , you'll need the money" he

said and I was dumbfounded. "What d..id you just say" I stammered and he looked at me with disgust. "You're not deaf, so don't ask me that stupid question, Just tell me your reply to this" he said, as

he looked at me with anger . I didn't even know what to say ,I was kinda shocked and angry. I knew I'll make great money with

this but pretending to love someone was really making me worried. Living with someone I hate

will be terrible, what if he maltreats me?. I read about a lady who committed suicide because of

she was being abused, what if that happens to me?

"Give me an answer" he yelled,bringing me back to reality

"Please let me think about it "I said,and he frowned. "I give you two days, just two days" he said and he stood up. I watched as he left and I began to think of lots of things. My mum will be healed ,if I get this money, But what about me? I don't want to get hurt. Urghh

am so confused..😩
