Chapter 1 Marriage Contract

Amidst the nocturnal embrace of the city, Natalia Everhart stood solitary, her gaze transfixed upon the towering monolith known as "Sterling." Her eyes bore an icy, enigmatic allure, as if harboring an untold narrative. Each step she took with her long, graceful legs exuded an air of poised determination, yet emotions churned like a tempestuous sea beneath the composed exterior.

Inside the opulent chamber, Natalia found herself in the presence of a towering figure, his attention momentarily consumed by the cityscape visible from the penthouse's zenith. Abruptly, he spoke, jolting her from her reverie: "Are you here, Miss Everhart?"

Natalia remained still, her hands clenched in silent resolve. "Yes. I'm here, Mr. Sterling."

With an almost mythical air, the man turned towards her, his countenance graced by a genial smile that rendered him an embodiment of Greek gods, with piercing azure irises. Even though Natalia was well-acquainted with this man, his poised charisma still enthralled her.

This man was Christopher Sterling - one of the most formidable young billionaires, owner of the city's tallest skyscraper, and a figure of undeniable power and influence.

Christopher couldn't help but notice Natalia's beautiful face. Her doe-like amber eyes and her innocent-looking face, as if she had never experienced any tragedies.

Christopher Sterling gently placed a contract before Natalia and instructed, "Take your time to read it thoroughly and make your decision today. I'm not a patient person."

Natalia took the contract and took a deep breath. Her heart pounded louder as she laid her hand on its cover. She began to read, word by word, the terms and commitments that Christopher wished her to undertake in the coming months.

As Natalia turned each page, the contract details became increasingly apparent. Christopher proposed a ten-month-long sham marriage. In return, she would receive $100 million and become the creative director of his fashion company.

Christopher observed the tension in her face, then suddenly chuckled, "So, how do you feel about this contract, miss Everhart?"

Natalia hesitated for a moment, her gaze still fixed on the contract. The weight of this decision bore down on her, and she understood that the significance of this signature would alter her life. She knew she was in a difficult situation, and the sum he offered was substantial.

Taking a deep breath, she finally looked up and met his gaze. "Why do you want a fake marriage with me?" she asked.

Christopher held her gaze, his eyes unwavering. "You don't need to know why. You just need to understand that this arrangement will benefit both of us. I will help you figure out the truth behind your family's downfall. Is that what you want?"

His nonchalant expression left her feeling stifled. She felt like she was standing at a crossroads, an opportunity to unearth the truth and restore her family's honor. She had once been the promising heir to a cosmetics empire, but in just two short years, she had lost everything. Her parents had taken their own lives, leaving her alone to grapple with the ruthless truth.

She nodded, suppressing the pain that was slowly consuming her thoughts. "Yes, that's what I want."

Natalia's eyes returned to the contract, the specific terms of this ten-month fake marriage. She knew she was entering into a complex agreement but also believed it could be her chance at redemption.

"Very well," Natalia finally said with a confident smile. "I agree."

Christopher smiled in response, his gaze unwavering. "I won't let you down."

Christopher Sterling continued to gaze at Natalia, his eyes deep and solemn. "Very good," he said, then smiled gently. "We'll begin the process as soon as the signatures are on paper."

One of his assistants, standing nearby, handed them a portfolio containing the necessary documents and a pen.

Christopher Sterling and Natalia Everhart placed their hands on the paper and signed their names. Their presence and the gentle touch of the pen on the piece marked a new beginning for both.

Natalia held the contract and asked, "Is this because of your grandfather?"

Christopher's eyes showed a hint of surprise at her question as if he hadn't expected her to know about the connection. "That's right!" he admitted after a moment,""That's all you need to know."

Natalia nodded. Her guess was correct. The fact that her grandfather had been a close friend of Christopher's grandfather explains some of the mystery surrounding this arrangement.

Natalia stood up from her chair and looked at Christopher.

"I need to go home," she said. "I hope we can become good long-term partners."

Christopher assured her, "I'll have my driver take you home."

But Natalia firmly refused with a smile. "I can manage on my own," she replied and gracefully walked out of the city's most luxurious building.

Natalia walked to the bus stop, her mind racing with thoughts and emotions. She knew that the decision she had just made would change her life in unimaginable ways.

As she walked away, she couldn't shake the feeling of guilt creeping inside her. She reached for her phone and dialled the familiar number, her heart pounding as she threw it. After a few rings, her boyfriend, Otis, picked up the phone.

Natalia took a deep breath, trying to find the right words. "Alex, we need to talk," she finally said.

A bit of worry appeared in Otis's voice. "Is everything okay?"

Natalia hesitated for a moment and then decided to be honest. "Let's break up!"

A brief pause was on the other end of the line, and Natalia could sense Otis's tension. "Natalia, what are you talking about? What's happening to you?"

As she spoke those words that would change their relationship forever, tears fell from Natalia's eyes. "I think we should break up. Don't call or text me anymore."

The words hung in the air, heavy and decisive. It felt like the weight on Natalia's shoulders had been lifted, but the pain in her chest was almost unbearable. She hung up, not expecting him to say another word.

Natalia used her hand to wipe the remaining tears from her eyelashes. The two's two-year relationship also ended today.

Natalia's gaze returned to the towering "Sterling" skyscraper, its silhouette now illuminated in the city's night sky.

"I hope this is worth it..." she whispered to herself.

Meanwhile, Christopher sat behind an enormous mahogany desk in his office, holding a glass of red wine. His expression was contemplative, bathed in the warm glow of the golden desk lamp.

He gazed at the photograph of his family on the desk. It was a picture from his childhood, when his mother was still alive and life was simpler.

Christopher was confident that this marriage contract with Natalia would be the key to reclaiming the company his mother had painstakingly built. The weight of his family's legacy bore down on him, and he was unwavering in his determination to do whatever it took to restore their honour. As he took another sip of the rich, full-bodied wine, he steeled himself for the challenges ahead, his resolve unwavering.

Suddenly, the ringing of his phone interrupted Christopher's thoughts. He furrowed his brows when he saw the caller's name displayed on the screen.

Chapter 2 Welcome to my world

Christopher's mood lost a bit of its cheer as his father's name appeared on his phone screen. He hesitated momentarily, staring at the screen as if it held the answer to an unasked question. Finally, he picked up, his voice tinged with tension.

"Dad, what is happening?" He said, his tone respectful but distant.

"Christopher," his father's voice came through the phone, commanding even from a distance. "I need you to come home."

Christopher furrowed his brow. He had been away from home for a while, focused on his business endeavors, and avoided family matters as much as possible. The thought of returning home was wearisome.

"What's this about, Dad?" he asked cautiously, wanting to decline.

His father hesitated, and for a tense moment, the line was filled with strained silence. Then, with a heavy, resigned sigh, he began to speak. "I want to talk to you about inheritance, our family's conglomerate, and the legacy your mother and you have built."

Christopher clenched his jaw, the news hitting him harder than expected. The Sterling Enterprises were his mother's legacy, and he couldn't bear the thought of it falling into just anyone's hands.

"I'll come home tomorrow, Dad," he replied, slightly resentful.

"I hope to see you then. Goodnight, son," his father urged.

Christopher knew what that meant. His father and his relationship had never recovered since that woman had entered their lives. But he couldn't give up everything for that woman's happiness at the cost of his mother's death.

"Goodnight, Dad. We'll talk tomorrow," he responded, his tone resolute.

As he ended the call, Christopher stared out the window, his mind in turmoil. He had spent years distancing himself from family matters, building his own empire, but now, he was being drawn into a complex world of family secrets. His once icy heart sometimes ached.

Natalia's face flickered in his mind. He had signed this marriage contract with her for a reason: to win this battle against his stepmother.

Christopher's phone rang again. This time, it was an unfamiliar number. Unlike usual, it had a magical power that made him pick up the phone. Christopher's heart skipped a beat when he heard Natalia's frightened voice.

"Can you come to my house? I'm in danger..."

Without thinking twice, he replied, "Stay where you are, Natalia. I'm on my way." His tone was firm and resolute.

He hung up, grabbed his coat, and rushed out of the office, leaving his glass of wine untouched. The bustling hallways of the skyscraper seemed to blur around him as he ran toward the exit. He got in the car and followed the address she had just sent.

When the car stopped on the dimly lit street where Natalia had called. He saw her standing alone under the flickering streetlight, looking so fragile in the harsh night of the city. He quickly got out of the car and ran to her side.

"Natalia, are you okay? Are they the police you called?" He asked genuine concern in his eyes.

She became weak in a sweater and short nightgown in the cold sky. She was surrounded by police officers searching around her house.

She looked at him, her doe eyes filled with fear and relief.

"Christopher, I'm so glad you're here. Someone just broke into my house. I didn't feel safe, so I called you. I really didn't know what to do. I'm sorry..."

Christopher smiled, took off his vest, and gave it to her. His voice had a rare gentleness in this moment.

"You did the right thing. You are now my fiancee. I will ensure your safety. Now get in the car."

Natalia hesitated for a moment, her uncertainty still evident in her eyes. But Christopher's reassuring tone had already made her feel safer than she had in a long time. She nodded and offered a small, grateful smile before getting into the car beside him.

Christopher opened the car door for her and swiftly took his place in the driver's seat. Natalia was still trying to process the whirlwind of events that had led her to this moment as she settled into the passenger seat of Christopher's sleek black car. The leather seats felt cool against her skin.

As the engine roared, he asked, "Do you know who might have broken into your house?"

Natalia's voice quivered slightly as she replied, "No, I don't know who it was. His face was covered, and he seemed more interested in going through my father's study than harming me. I've already informed the police."

Christopher gripped the steering wheel tightly, his gaze fixed on the unknown ahead, and he spoke with a steely resolve in his voice.

"Don't worry, Natalia. We'll figure this out together. Right now, let's get you to a safe place."

Still trying to make sense of the whirlwind of events, Natalia furrowed her brow in confusion. "You want to take me where?"

Christopher's smile remained enigmatic, causing her heart to flutter. He briefly checked her reaction in the rearview mirror before responding, his voice low and mysterious. "My home."

Natalia's eyes widened in surprise. His home? She hadn't expected that. Her mind raced with questions, but she held them back, waiting for him to provide more details.

Christopher continued, his gaze focused on the road ahead. " You are my fiancée now, and it would be safer for you to stay with me."

Natalia couldn't quite believe what she had just heard. She hesitated momentarily before finally asking, "You're joking, right?"

Christopher's gaze remained steady on the road, and there was a faint hint of amusement in his voice as he replied, "Natalia, I'm not joking. You will be safe for as long as it takes to achieve my goals. I won't let anything happen to you."

Natalia felt her heart race as she looked into his cold, enigmatic eyes. "Thank you, Christopher..." she whispered. She didn't know what lay ahead, but she was now willing to trust the mysterious man who had entered her life.

"I'll have someone help you move your things," Christopher Sterling assured her.

Christopher Sterling just chuckled with a cryptic smile on his face and continued driving them across the city. In the darkness of the night, they seemed like two strangers, but fate had intertwined their lives in a mysterious fake marriage.

They arrived at a grand mansion more reminiscent of a palace than a residence. The magnificence of the estate was genuinely breathtaking. The villa was nestled amidst lush gardens with perfectly manicured lawns and vibrant flower beds. It was a place that seemed to exist in its own world, far away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

As Christopher parked the car and they stepped out, Natalia couldn't help but feel like she had stepped into a fairy tale. The front of the mansion was adorned with intricate details, with soft, warm lights illuminating the outside, making it glow enchantingly at night.

Natalia couldn't conceal her astonishment as she gazed upon the opulent grandeur of the mansion. "This place is truly amazing," she whispered in awe.

Christopher smiled at her. "Welcome to my world, Natalia."

Chapter 3 A Room for Two Souls

Christopher and Natalia were welcomed by the butler. His arrival was announced by a soft, gentle clearing of his throat, and he approached with a polite and courteous smile towards Natalia.

"Welcome, Miss Natalia," the butler said with a slight bow, his voice measured and polite. "I am Thomas, the butler of the Sterling estate. It's a pleasure to meet you."

Natalia returned his smile, feeling a bit uncomfortable due to the formality of the situation. "Thank you, Thomas. It's nice to meet you, too. Could you please show me to my room?"

Christopher interjected, "Thomas, please guide her to the room next to mine."

Butler Thomas extended his hand forward and gestured for her to follow him. "Certainly, sir. Please follow me."

Natalia glanced at Christopher before nodding. "Yes, please lead the way. Thank you."

Natalia followed Butler Thomas through a grand corridor, her footsteps muffled by the opulent carpet stretching endlessly before her. The walls were adorned with intricately decorated paintings. The air was filled with a gentle, lingering fragrance, as soothing as the scent of jasmine.

As they ascended a luxurious staircase, Natalia couldn't help but marvel at the absolute grandeur of the house. She felt she had entered a different era, a world of luxury and extravagance that she had only seen in movies or read about in fairy tales. Even as someone who had once been wealthy herself, she couldn't help but be in awe.

The butler led her to a beautifully decorated bedroom with a bed draped in thick silk curtains. The room was bathed in soft, golden light, and a vase of fresh roses sat on the bedside table.

"This is your room, Miss Natalia," Butler Thomas said, his voice gentle and respectful. "I hope you find it comfortable. If you need anything, I will be at your service."

Natalia surveyed everything and smiled contentedly. "It's... beautiful," she said. She had never imagined herself in a place like this. "Thank you, Thomas. This is more than I could have ever expected."

Alone in the room after Butler Thomas departed, Natalia finally had a moment to herself. She sank gently onto the plush, velvet bed, allowing its softness to cradle her. Taking a deep, cleansing breath, she closed her eyes and let the events of the exhausting day wash over her.

Everything had unfolded rapidly, from the shock of the unexpected marriage proposal to the fear induced by the intrusion at her former home. It was as if she had been swept up in a whirlwind and deposited here in this opulent mansion, engaged to a man she had barely contemplated.

Natalia's gaze shifted to the vest she had left on the seat, and her thoughts inadvertently returned to Christopher. His presence, mysterious yet oddly reassuring, lingered in her mind. His enigmatic but strangely comforting presence echoed in her thoughts.

Natalia rose from the bed and walked over to where the vest hung. She couldn't shake the thoughts of Christopher, the man with whom she had an unexplainable connection. The vest carried his scent, a tangible link to the enigmatic man who had suddenly entered her life.

With determination and curiosity intertwined, she picked up the vest and headed toward the door. She recalled Christopher's words about him staying next door to her room. She wanted to return the vest to its rightful place.

Natalia stepped into the hallway, the soft carpet beneath her feet muffling her steps. She hesitated for a moment, unsure of what she was doing, but eventually, her gaze settled on the door to Christopher's room.

She approached the door and stopped. After all, it was his vest she held in her hands. Taking a deep breath to steady her nerves, she raised her hand and lightly tapped her fingers on the glossy wood surface.

The door swung open, and Christopher looked at her, his voice a low, gravelly timbre as he inquired, "What do you want?" He was draped in a bathrobe, revealing his well-built chest. Natalia swallowed hard, her gaze involuntarily drawn to his muscular physique.

Her heart pounded as she tried to find her voice, her cheeks blushing uncontrollably. Christopher's question hung in the air, and she felt oddly comfortable standing in his presence, even more so as he stood there, nearly undressed.

"I'm sorry," she stammered, her eyes quickly averting from his imposing figure. "I didn't mean to disturb you. I just... I came to return your vest." She held up the vest tightly, hoping he'd understand her intent.

Christopher's calm blue eyes softened as he recognized her flustered state. He took the vest from her trembling hand. "Thank you," he said, his voice deep and gentle. "You didn't have to come all this way to return it, but I appreciate it."

He looked at her again, a sly smile playing on his lips. "You're welcome to come here anytime, especially at night."

As their eyes met again, Natalia felt a sudden dryness in her throat, a thirst she couldn't quite quench.

Christopher stepped even closer, his towering figure looming over her. His voice dropped into a husky whisper: "Don't tease me at night, Natalia."

Natalia's breath caught in her throat as she felt the heat of his proximity. She was drawn to him in a way she couldn't explain, and she couldn't deny the growing tension between them. The distance between their bodies seemed to shrink, and her heart raced in her chest.

"I'm not teasing you," she replied, trembling. She met his intense gaze, not moving as if ready to accept everything from him. As their faces drew closer, their lips almost touching, he suddenly paused, his lips curving into a half-smile.

"Do you really want this?" he whispered.

Her voice almost a whisper, Natalia replied, "Why not?"

Without waiting for his response, she reached up, her hands encircling his neck, and pressed her lips against his in a passionate kiss.

Their kiss was electric, a collision of desire and attraction that no one could deny. Natalia couldn't quite understand if she wanted to fill the void left by her recent breakup or if it was just a momentary desire. But she couldn't deny that the man before her had made her crave to immerse herself in passion.

As their lips parted, both struggled to catch their breath, their eyes locked in a passionate gaze filled with vivid fantasies.

His bathrobe had also fallen, fully exposed to her eyes. His hand was gently placed on her hip, and their kiss began again. Their bodies seemed to be stuck together, without a single hole. Her eyes gradually blurred, sinking into wet emotions and taking off her dress, revealing her deadly sexiness.

In the dim light of the room, their bodies entwined once again, not just out of desire but also a longing for closeness, to share more than just their physical selves. Both of them couldn't have imagined that in one day, they could go from being strangers in the morning to embracing each other in the depths of the night.
