Chapter 1 Hello New York

*Somewhere in Brooklyn*

Amelia sat on the edge of her apartment's worn-out couch, her fingers tapping nervously on her phone. She was still in disbelief to what she saw. After months of job hunting and countless rejections, she had finally landed her dream job as a journalist at The Daily Times newspaper, the biggest newspaper in the entire city!. The city's vibrant energy and endless possibilities filled her with excitement, but a cloud of worry loomed over her.

Just as Amelia was about to immerse herself in the thrill of her accomplishment, a sharp knock echoed through the room. Startled, she hurried to answer the door. Standing before her was Mr. Thompson, her landlord, a tall, imposing man with deep-set Amber coloured eyes and a stern expression etched on his face.

"Miss Amelia," he said, his voice brimming with impatience. "You've been dodging your responsibilities. You owe me five months' worth of rent."

Amelia's heart sank, her dream bubble bursting. She tried to explain, her words stumbling out, "Mr. Thompson, I just got the job at The Daily Times. I promise I'll catch up on the rent as soon as I receive my first paycheck."

Mr. Thompson's face remained impassive, his gaze unyielding. "Words won't pay the bills, Miss Amelia. You have one week to settle the outstanding rent, or I'll have no choice but to evict you."

With a dismissive nod, he turned and walked away, leaving Amelia in a whirlwind of panic. She closed the door, leaning against it as tears threatened to spill. How could her long-awaited success be overshadowed by financial woes? The thought of losing her new home, her sanctuary, sent waves of fear crashing over her.

Determined not to succumb to despair, Amelia wiped away her tears and mustered all her strength. She wouldn't let this setback deter her dreams. She glanced at the empty apartment, the boxes still waiting to be unpacked. "I won't be sleeping here for long anyway," she whispered to herself, envisioning a brighter future in a better place.

*Somewhere in Newyork*

Meanwhile, across town, Dr. Matthew Baker, a renowned physician, opened his eyes to find himself lying on a cold subway platform. Confusion clouded his mind as he scanned his surroundings. The bustling crowd pushed past him, oblivious to his presence. "Sarah, Jacob!" Mr Baker yelled as he looked around his surrounding.

His eyes widened when he spotted a departing train. Time seemed to slow as he recognized the faces of his wife, Sarah, and their young son, Jacob, seated among the passengers. But something was terribly wrong. Their eyes held an eerie emptiness, their expressions vacant. Panic welled up inside him, and he called out to them, his voice desperate, yet they remained unresponsive.

A blinding light enveloped Dr. Baker, and the scene dissolved into nothingness.

He woke up disoriented, sprawled on the cold pavement near the subway station. The early morning light spilled over him, casting long shadows. Confusion consumed him as he struggled to piece together the fragmented memories of the previous day. Questions swirled in his mind, and concern for his family gnawed at his heart. What had happened to Sarah and Jacob? Where were they now?

*Later that day*

Amelia, still shaken by her encounter with Mr. Thompson, reached for her phone and dialed a familiar number. Emily, her childhood friend and steadfast ally, answered after a few rings.

"Hey, Amelia! How's the big city treating you?" Emily's voice was filled with warmth and excitement.

A mixture of relief and longing flooded Amelia's soul as she poured her heart out to her friend. She shared the news of her job at The Daily Times, her aspirations, and her current predicament. And then, with a touch of desperation, she made a proposition.

"Em, what if you moved to New York? We could be roommates, explore the city together, and support each other. What do you say?"

There was a brief pause on the line before Emily responded, her voice tinged with excitement. "Amelia, you know I've always admired your bravery. I'm in! I'll be there in two days. We're going to conquer this city together!"

A surge of hope surged through Amelia's veins. She felt a flicker of warmth in the midst of her uncertainty. With Emily by her side, maybe she could face any challenge that New York threw at her.

*NYPD HQ*

in the depths of his frustration, Dr. Baker sought solace in reporting the eerie incident at the subway station to the local police. However, his claims were met with skepticism and ridicule. The officers dismissed his story as nothing more than delusions, unwilling to entertain the possibility of the supernatural.

Amidst the dismissive remarks, there was one officer who caught Baker's attention-Detective Samuel Rodriguez. With his sharp features and piercing gaze, Samuel exuded an air of intrigue and determination. There was something about him that hinted at a deeper understanding of the unusual occurrences plaguing the city.

After the discouraging encounter with the police, Baker found himself pondering the strange events that had unfolded. He couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to the story than what met the eye. "Excuse me Mr Baker," Samuel said, his voice a perfect blend of simplicity and authority . "I'd love to take your case." Mr Bakers eyes swelled with gratitude as he landed on his knees" Thank you good sir," Mr Baker said, his voice shaky.

*The next day*

As Samuel walked along the pavement the next day, he was approached by Dr. Marcos Barnes, a figure of profound knowledge and enigmatic presence. Barnes beckoned him to follow, leading him to his residence-a secluded house filled with ancient relics and works of art. The air was thick with the weight of history, and the whispers of forgotten civilizations seemed to echo through the halls.

In the dimly lit room, Barnes unveiled the truth of New York's forgotten past. He spoke of the Nordians, an ancient civilization that once thrived in the very land where New York stood today. The Nordians had possessed a deep connection with the spirits, living in harmony with the supernatural forces that governed their lives.

Barnes recounted the devastating tale of the Nordians' demise at the hands of the invading Americans. Their civilization was destroyed, their people slaughtered, leaving behind only fragments of their existence. It was believed that Sentis, the goddess of vengeance from Nordian folklore, was behind the unusual attacks that plagued the city.

Samuel listened intently, the weight of the revelation sinking into his soul. He felt a surge of empathy for the fallen Nordians and a burning determination to uncover the truth behind Sentis' influence. It was a battle that transcended the realm of logic and tapped into the realms of myth and legend.

The room crackled with tension as the conversation unfolded. Emotions swirled within Samuel-a mix of anger, sadness, and a fierce desire for justice. He understood that this was not just another case; it was a battle against an ancient force, and the stakes were higher than ever.

*The next day*

Amelia's heart swelled with a sense of accomplishment as she witnessed her name in bold print on the front page of The Daily Times. The weight of the words she had written, the stories she had uncovered, was palpable. She felt a surge of gratitude towards Mr. Istambard for recognizing her talent and giving her the platform to shine.

The office buzzed with excitement as Amelia's colleagues congratulated her on her success. It was a bittersweet moment for her. While she reveled in the spotlight, she couldn't help but feel a tinge of loneliness, longing for Emily's presence by her side. Amidst the hustle and bustle of the newsroom, she yearned for the familiarity of her childhood friend, the one person who truly understood her.

*later that day*

As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the city, Amelia and Emily ventured into Central Park for the second time. The sprawling greens and shimmering lakes provided solace amidst the urban chaos. They walked hand in hand, sharing secrets, dreams, and fears, their steps synchronized as if guided by an invisible force.

Unbeknownst to them, Samuel Rodriguez had been tirelessly investigating the strange occurrences in the city. His dedication to his work had consumed him, leaving little room for personal connections. But as he caught sight of Amelia and Emily, their laughter echoing through the park, a pang of longing washed over him.

Samuel had always been a solitary soul, his enigmatic demeanor shielding him from the world. But in that moment, he yearned for companionship, for someone who could understand the weight he carried on his shoulders.

Chapter 3 The revelation

The city of New York hummed with its usual vibrant energy, yet beneath the surface, an air of unease lingered. Emily, having recently arrived in the bustling metropolis, found herself tormented by haunting nightmares that invaded her sleep. As she confided in Amelia about the vivid and distressing dreams, her voice trembled with a mixture of fear and uncertainty.

Amelia's eyes widened in concern as she listened intently to Emily's account. They sat in their cozy apartment, the soft glow of a lamp casting shadows on the walls. Amelia reached out, grasping Emily's hand, offering a comforting squeeze.

"Emily, nightmares can be unsettling, but they are just dreams," Amelia reassured, her voice filled with compassion. "It's understandable to feel shaken by them, especially in a new environment. But I assure you, they are not real. You are safe here with me."

Emily nodded, her gaze fixed on a distant point. "I know, Amelia. It's just that these nightmares... they feel so vivid, so real. I can't shake the feeling that there's more to them than meets the eye."

Amelia's brows furrowed, her mind racing with possibilities. She understood her friend's apprehension, sensing that there might be a deeper significance to the dreams. However, she chose her words carefully, not wanting to exacerbate Emily's concerns.

"Sometimes our minds conjure up vivid dreams as a way of processing our fears and anxieties," Amelia suggested gently. "Moving to a new city, starting fresh, it can be overwhelming. Perhaps these nightmares are your mind's way of adjusting to the changes."

Emily's eyes flickered with uncertainty, but she nodded, willing herself to believe Amelia's reassurance. She desperately wanted to shake off the lingering unease and enjoy her time in New York.

As days turned into weeks, Amelia's career at The Daily Times soared to new heights. Ivan, her boss, had recognized her talent and dedication, swiftly promoting her to the position of star journalist. With each published article, Amelia's name became synonymous with investigative excellence. The newsroom buzzed with excitement, and Amelia reveled in the fast-paced environment.

One morning, as Amelia stepped out onto the bustling streets, notebook in hand, she found herself unexpectedly colliding with a stranger. Their bodies collided, and Amelia's papers fluttered to the ground. Apologies tumbled from their lips in unison, their eyes meeting in a momentary connection.

"I'm so sorry," the stranger, Samuel, said, his voice laced with an undertone of warmth. "I wasn't watching where I was going. Are you okay?"

Amelia couldn't help but be captivated by Samuel's piercing gaze and disarming smile. She felt a flutter of something unfamiliar in her chest, a hint of attraction that danced in the air between them.

"I'm fine," Amelia replied, a faint blush coloring her cheeks. "No harm done. And I should apologize too. I wasn't paying attention either."

They exchanged introductions, their conversation flowing effortlessly as they picked up Amelia's scattered papers. Samuel's presence exuded a sense of mystery, and Amelia found herself drawn to his enigmatic aura."you look familiar, are you Amelia from the daily times?!!" Samuel asked, his face now etched with curiosity.

Amelia nodded in affirmation as she smiled sheepishly.

As they stood there, the lively city swirling around them, Samuel's gaze turned serious. "Amelia, I've been investigating the recent cases of missing persons in the city. There's something peculiar about them. It's as if there's a hidden force at play."

Amelia's eyes widened, her curiosity piqued. "What do you mean, a hidden force?"

Samuel hesitated for a moment before continuing. "I believe there's more to these disappearances than meets the eye. The circumstances surrounding them are unusual, almost supernatural. I've stumbled upon traces of ancient mythology and a connection to a goddess named Sentis."

Amelia's breath caught in her throat as Samuel's words sank in. Her mind raced, memories of Mr. Baker's harrowing tale resurfacing. She realized the possibility that their investigation had barely scratched the surface.

*Police station*

Before she could articulate her thoughts, the door swung open, revealing the figure of Dr. Marcos Barnes. His presence commanded attention, and his eyes held the weight of ancient wisdom.

"Amelia, what Mr. Baker has experienced is not mere coincidence or imagination," Dr. Barnes proclaimed, his voice carrying the weight of centuries. "Sentis, the goddess of vengeance, is awakening, seeking retribution for the sins committed against her people, the Nordians, by the Americans."

Amelia's heart pounded in her chest as the pieces of the puzzle began to fall into place. The conversation between the three became a flurry of questions, theories, and a shared determination to uncover the truth. The room resonated with a mixture of fear, determination, and a glimmer of hope.

"Dr. Barnes, how do we stop Sentis?" Amelia asked, her voice filled with a newfound resolve.

Dr. Barnes sighed, his eyes flickering with ancient wisdom. "Stopping Sentis won't be easy, but it's possible. We must find the artifacts of the Nordians, the ones that can neutralize her power. They are scattered across the city, hidden within the layers of history."

Amelia's mind raced, visions of ancient relics and forgotten secrets flooding her thoughts. She knew that this journey would be perilous, fraught with danger at every turn. Yet, the spark of determination within her burned brighter than ever before.

"Count me in," Samuel interjected, his voice filled with determination. "We cannot let Sentis wreak havoc on this city. We must stand against her."

Amelia nodded, her gaze shifting between Samuel and Dr. Barnes. "Together, we will uncover the truth, find the artifacts, and put an end to Sentis' wrath. New York will not fall to her vengeance."

Amelia gnashing her teeth still in disbelief to the supernatural coming to play seemed more information from Me Barnes. "So what are these relics and how do we find them?" Amelia asked, her brows furrowed into a frown.

Dr Barnes looked worried his face a tapestry of concern and fear "the relics are sentis' six earings, each holding a certain percentage of her power, if we can find all six earings, we can unlock the curse and free New York once and for all."
