The sky was still dark when Joaquin and Sally returned to their camp. Almost no sound was heard except for the gentle footsteps of the pedestrians. Their bodies are tired from what happened in the warehouse, but nothing can stop them from continuing. The quiet night was full of tension; they know a bigger fight awaits them.
When they entered the camp, Marcos greeted them as if he had news. "Have we got what we need?" he asked while observing their tired faces.
Joaquin nodded. "Yes, but the next one won't be easy. Their operation is bigger than we expected." He took a deep breath and turned to Sally. "We have to decide how we are going to attack."
Sally leaned against the wall, thinking of possible actions. "We cannot let them continue. If they get more weapons, the whole region will surely be filled with violence. We cannot retreat now."
"What are you planning?" asked Hector, who was now standing at the edge of the table, holding the map of the syndicate.
"There is a way to stop them," Joaquin answered as he laid down the blueprint of the warehouse they entered. "We need to end this before they have a chance to move. We will devise a plan to destroy their remaining weapons and stop the approaching cargo."
"But how can we get in without being heard again?" Marcos asked while looking at the details of the information they gathered. "They will be more alert now. The invasion will not be easy."
Sally sighed before answering, "We need to find someone inside. We know someone who might be able to help from the inside. He will be our key."
---
The next day, the whole group gathered again. After several hours of discussion, they agreed to try to talk to George's former colleague Vincent, a former syndicate member who had defected from their group. Joaquin knew Vincent from previous operations, and they knew it could be an advantage to get his help.
"Vincent is our key," Joaquin said while going through the steps of their plan one by one. "He's the only one who knows enough about the syndicate's operations to give us an advantage."
"We can't be in a hurry," Sally warned. "If George finds out we're getting close to Vincent, he could be killed or forced to betray us."
"I know," answered Joaquin. "So we must act quickly and carefully."
---
In the middle of the quiet night, Joaquin and Sally go to a hidden bar where Vincent is said to be hiding. The place is dark and full of suspicious people. The sound of alcohol and the conversation of the drunken staff gave a strange tension to the surroundings.
When they saw Vincent, he seemed to notice them immediately. Their eyes met, but Vincent's expression didn't seem to change. He nodded as a sign that he was there to talk.
Joaquin and Sally approached, quietly sitting at Vincent's table. "We need you," Joaquin said calmly as he looked directly at Vincent.
Vincent smiled slightly, but his hesitation was clearly there. "You haven't come near me in a long time, Joaquin. Why now?"
"You know we can't show this kind of trust in anyone," Joaquin answered. "But we need your help. George has a plan to bring big weapons for his next move. We need to know the details of it."
Vincent stared deeply at Joaquin before he answered. "I know George's moves are big. But my help is not free."
"What do you need?" Sally asked, the tone of their conversation now becoming more tense.
"Protection," Vincent answered. "When I help you, you have to keep me away from all this. I can't go back to my old life."
Joaquin and Sally exchanged glances. They knew the danger that helping Vincent would bring, but they had no other choice. "You will get the protection you need," Joaquin replied. "But you have to be true to us."
"Listen," Vincent said as he lowered his glass. "A large shipment is arriving in two days. George's plan is to sell weapons to various regions through local leaders he holds. You must stop it before the weapons are completely distributed. "
---
The group moved quickly after the conversation. They return to their camp, carrying the important information that Vincent gave them. Everyone gathered again, and prepared the plan for the attack.
"The warehouse where they store the weapons has a secret entrance in the back," Joaquin explained as he laid out the plan. "We need to use a diversion so we can get in without being noticed."
"The most important thing here is that we act quickly," added Sally. "We can't let them react. We have to finish this before their men arrive."
---
In the middle of the night, their operation began. Again, the darkness of the night became their ally. Under the cover of darkness, the group slowly walked towards the warehouse. They follow the steps Vincent points out, constantly watching every corner to make sure they don't get caught.
As they neared the entrance, they heard the sounds of guards guarding the front. "Don't make any noise," warned Hector who was at the front of the group.
They quickly and carefully climbed a small fence behind the warehouse. They entered one by one, like a shadow passing through the dark passage. With every step, they knew they were about to step into enemy territory.
While inside the warehouse, they saw boxes of weapons arranged in the middle of the place. The silence of the night seemed to echo inside the building. But they cannot last long. They need to act quickly.
Joaquin took out a small explosive charge and placed it under a large box. "We're about to begin," he said as he readied the detonation.
Suddenly, they heard the footsteps of syndicate personnel from the entrance of the warehouse. The battle has begun.
It was dark around the warehouse, but Joaquin could feel the heat of the battle. The sound of weapons falling and the footsteps of the syndicate's men reminded him that there was no room for error. While he was behind a box, he pulled the detonator from his pocket and turned his attention to where Sally and the rest of their companions were.
Sally was positioned on the left side, holding the gun and watching the enemy's every move. His eyes were silent but sharp, ready for any unexpected move by George's men. Joaquin knew that he could not doubt. They had to finish it quickly before the rest of the crew arrived.
"Are you ready?" Hector asked in a whisper, inspecting the weapons they had acquired.
Joaquin nodded, still holding the detonator. "Once we're sure they're all inside, we'll fire," he said in a low voice. "We don't have time to make mistakes."
Marcos quickly moved forward, approaching Sally's position to provide closer protection. "There are guards outside. They won't stop until we're detected," he whispered to Sally.
"They shouldn't have a chance to form," Sally replied. "We need to use up these weapons before they can be used in any of their plans."
With every second that passed, Joaquin's heart rate seemed to speed up. He knew it was only a matter of time before the invasion began. Inside the warehouse, just a few meters away from the weapons boxes, several syndicate personnel appeared to confirm the shipments.
"They can't get away," Sally said to herself.
Suddenly, a loud explosion shook the warehouse. Crates of weapons explode in the middle of the warehouse, resulting in chaos inside. The syndicate's men panicked and started to run out, but were greeted by a barrage of shots from Joaquin's companions.
"Quick! Let's kill them all!" shouted Hector as he opened fire on George's remaining men.
Even in the middle of the battle, Joaquin felt the weight of responsibility on his shoulders. It's not just a simple mission; this is their chance to end the operation of George's syndicate. Couldn't go wrong, and they couldn't let George get back into shape.
In the middle of the explosion and gunshots, Joaquin saw Sally running towards another weapons box, straining to reach for the detonator for the next blast. But before he could even hit the target, a syndicate operative quickly appeared from behind and pointed a gun at Sally.
Without hesitation, Joaquin acted quickly. "Sally!" he shouted as he shot the enemy before he could fire. The syndicate man fell to the floor, but Joaquin could feel the cold sweat covering his body. One wrong move and he might not have caught up with Sally.
Sally nodded her thanks and continued what she was doing. Within seconds, another box of weapons exploded again. The operation of the syndicate was gradually destroyed. But they know it's not over yet.
---
After several hours of fighting, the group killed almost all of George's men. When the place fell silent, the tension around was still palpable. "We need to get out of here before George's reinforcements arrive," Hector said as smoke filled the area.
The group gathered outside the warehouse, carrying the remaining weapons that could be used for the next step. "We did it," Marcos said, but he knew it wasn't over yet.
Joaquin stood quietly to the side, observing the broken boxes and the burning warehouse. "George isn't done yet," he said. "This is just the beginning."
Sally stood next to him. "But we ruined their big operation. They can't move as fast as they used to."
"Yes, but we can't be complacent. George doesn't just give up. And I know he won't miss what we did today," Joaquin answered, a trace of concern on his face.
"Good thing you're there," Sally said as she looked at Joaquin. "If you hadn't saved me earlier, I might not have made it back alive."
Joaquin smiled, but it didn't reach his eyes. "I can't do anything without you either. We're both here for each other."
---
When they returned to the camp, the whole group seemed to feel better. Although tired, they felt a slight sense of victory from their last mission. But despite the smiles, Joaquin knew there was an even bigger fight ahead. George was not going to let his control go away just like that.
"What is our next step?" asked Marcos as they gathered again at their headquarters.
"We're still tracking George. It's not over yet. We need to find out where he's going to hide after all this," Joaquin answered. "But we also have to prepare everything. We can't make a mistake next time."
Sally stood up and looked at the map on the table. "We need help from our allies. We cannot fight this alone."
Joaquin nodded. "So I'll send a message to Vincent. We need to know all of George's movements before he can recover."
As they were discussing next steps, a loud bang from the door interrupted their conversation. A man entered, bearing bad news.
"George has a large force coming. They've heard our camp," said the man, gasping for breath.
Joaquin, Sally, and Hector looked at each other. They didn't expect George's response to be so quick.
"We have to get ready," Sally said, tinged with trepidation but determination. "We can't back out now."
---
The whole camp sprang into action. Everyone was busy preparing defenses, knowing that George's upcoming attack was not going to be easy. In the midst of the chaos, Joaquin was quietly thinking. It is not only a battle of arms and strength that they are facing now. He knew this war was a battle of strategy and determination.
"This too will end," Joaquin muttered to himself, holding his gun and continuing to prepare for the upcoming battle.
The camp was quiet. Amidst the shadows of the trees, Joaquin was staring into the distance, thinking about what had just happened. It had been less than three hours since the information about George's approaching force had been passed to them, and now they were preparing for a battle that was sure to be fierce.
"Is everyone ready?" Joaquin asked, as Sally approached from behind him.
"Yes, everyone is in their positions," Sally replied. "They know it won't be easy. But they also know we have no other option but to fight."
Joaquin nodded. He knew Sally was right. All that they had achieved in the previous missions would be worthless if they could not defeat George. But with every step they take, he feels the weight of responsibility, especially since their every action now will determine who will prevail.
"Remember, Joaquin, this is not just our fight," Sally continued. "This is against all the people who trusted us. We cannot give up."
Joaquin looked at Sally. Despite everything they had been through, there was still courage in his eyes. "I know," he whispered. "I will not allow everything we have worked for to be destroyed."
---
As they prepared their positions, the surroundings slowly darkened. The wind seemed to carry with it a tension that enveloped the entire camp. Every soldier silently awaited the oncoming attack, their guns in hand, ready for whatever might happen next.
After a while, Joaquin heard the faint sound of engines in the distance. They are coming.
"They're here," Hector said, quickly approaching Joaquin. "We can't let them get into the camp. We have to block the first gust."
"Right," answered Joaquin. "Let's not let their vehicles get close. Once we knock out the first one, their entire force will be crushed."
Sally approached, carrying binoculars. "They are. Four cars, big trucks. Each one obviously armed."
Joaquin tried to stay calm despite his nervousness. "Get the bombs ready. Once they're in the right position, let's put the plan into action."
---
With every second that passed, George's force was getting closer and closer. Joaquin was on the sidelines, along with Hector and the rest of the crew, silently waiting for the signal. Sally was on the other side of the camp, ready for the next steps.
"Now," Joaquin whispered.
Hector immediately pressed the detonator, and in an instant, a loud explosion shook the place. The first enemy truck toppled over, overturned and burst into flames. The soldiers of the syndicate ran one by one, but they were immediately followed by a series of shots from Joaquin's camp.
"Hide!" shouted one of the syndicate's men, but it was too late for many of them. With each passing second, their force was reduced as Joaquin continued to fire at them.
"Just keep going!" Sally shouted from the other end. "Let's not give up, there are more coming!"
Joaquin notices another truck approaching, full of armed men. He will not miss it. "Shoot the tires!" he ordered.
In one swift move, they shot the truck's tires, causing it to lose control and crash into a large tree. The road to the camp was completely blocked.
---
After several minutes of exchange of fire, the syndicate's force gradually weakened. Joaquin knew the fight wasn't over yet, but the first burst of George's attack seemed to have been stopped.
Sally approached Joaquin, drenched in sweat but with a smile on her face. "Good," he said. "But I know it's not all of George's strength."
"You're right," answered Joaquin. "And that's what I'm afraid of. If this is just the first gust, what will come next?"
---
While their group was counting the wounded and gathering their men, suddenly a message came from their spy in the syndicate. Hector immediately read the message.
"They say there's a bigger force coming. It's not just a few trucks. They plan to send a whole battalion."
Joaquin stopped. He knew they couldn't fight such a large force alone. "We have to retreat. We can't take the whole battalion this early."
"But Joaquin, where are we going?" asked Marcos, with a look of concern on his face.
Joaquin didn't answer right away. But he knew their spy was right. They cannot kill themselves in this battle if they are not ready.
"We need a new plan," Joaquin answered. "And the first step, is to get out of here alive."
---
As they plan a safe retreat, Joaquin's mind is still on George's next moves. He knows he won't stop until he defeats the syndicate. But for now, the most important thing is the safety of their group.
"This fight is not over yet," Joaquin muttered to himself. "But I won't stop either."
On the other side, Sally looked at Joaquin silently. He knew the man didn't just give up. And with every battle they face, his feelings for her grow stronger. But it's not time for emotion. This fight is even deeper than them.
