VESPERA.
"I think selling her is the perfect idea." I overheard my mother telling my father, and my brows widened, as I immediately placed my palm over my mouth to silence my gasp.
'They want to sell me?' I thought in disbelief.
"Exactly; it would fetch us a lot of money, too." My father mentioned, agreeing to my mother's words, and I felt like a thorn had just pierced my heart.
'Why, what did I do wrong?' I questioned myself but got no answers.
"The Lycan twins need a breeder and, since she has proven to be useless to us since her birth, this might be the only way we can get something off her." My father added, and I felt my eyes sting with tears.
Just then, I felt an arm grab me and pull me out of the corner I was hiding in to eavesdrop on my parents.
I was pulled face to face by a smirking Celestia who looked at me from up to down, distaste obvious in her green orbs.
"Eavesdropping I see. "Well, let's see what mother and father would have to say about this." She commented and grabbed me by my hair. I let out a low painful squeak, as it felt like my scalp was on fire.
Celestial barged into our parent's room, dragging me along with brutal strength, not caring that I was wincing in pain.
Our parents stopped their discussion immediately and, seeing me, pretended to be saying something else but first scolded us.
"What are you two up to again, and why are you, Celestia, dragging your big sister's hair?" My mother asked, looking at us, her expression growing stern, as she crossed her arm across her chest.
I felt my heart racing in my chest from fear, my palms sweaty as I dreaded what I was going to be facing soon.
"I caught Vespera here, in a corner, eavesdropping on you and Father's conversation. Thought I should expose her for the rude act," My sister replied.
My mother's eyes darkened, while my father glared at me, rage obvious in his eyes.
"N-no, I am s....." I tried apologizing but was suddenly raised and landed a slap that threw my face sideways and tore my lips. I could taste the warm, metallic taste of blood on my lips and gushed into tears.
"You bitch!" My mother cursed, grabbing my hair like Celestia first did, and I let out a huge scream, not being able to withstand the pain.
"How dare you?" She asked and flung me to the floor roughly. I lay there, feeling I was bruised. I couldn't get up and just kept weeping, tears rolling down my cheeks.
I caught Celestia looking down at me with an evil grin, obviously enjoying my discomfort. It was what she took pleasure in.
"Now get off that floor and go make us lunch." My father bawled at me, not giving a damn that I was lying on the floor, wincing in discomfort. I knew I had to get up hurriedly and leave if I didn't want to get beaten up again.
I struggled to get up, breathing heavily with my entire body aching, but I tried my best and left their room, leaving behind the perfect family. My sister and my parents.
I made my way to the kitchen, still in agony. I sniffled as I moved around, trying to get the ingredients ready. I should treat myself first, but I knew better than to delay what they asked me to do.
"How can your parents treat you like this?" My wolf, Dawn, questioned, fueled with anger, but I instantly cooled her down.
"They are monsters." she cursed, but I shut her up immediately.
"Don't you say that, they are our parents who care for us but have a strange way of showing it." I cautioned and Dawn scoffed.
"Yeah right! "I wonder when you will stop acting like a retard?" She scoffed, insulting me in the process.
I just ignored her and went about my duties.
"They treat you like a slave, an outsider, but treat that other bitchy sister of yours like she is a queen. "They just don't care about you," Dawn reminded me, but I refused to listen to her.
Her words made my heart feel like it was being ripped into two. It was the bitter truth which I didn't just want to accept, so I made myself believe my parents cared for me but didn't just want to show it.
It has not always been like this. There were times they were nice, and yes, my parents have always favored Celestia over me ever since she was born, but I didn't care as long as they gave me little attention.
They weren't that nice then either, nor were they bad. We can just say everything was fair and okay till I turned 18, the age I was supposed to discover my wolf and rank.
I had high hopes of having a high rank, hoping that would finally make my parents notice me more, but sadly, those were just wishes. Instead, they grew to despise me.
Yes, I got my wolf but couldn't transform. I was an omega, not just any omega, the lowest rank of all who couldn't even shift.
My home became hell for me, especially when Celestial got her wolf the next year and was at a far higher rank than I was.
They never stopped reminding me of how useless I was, and now they were selling me like an object, to become a baby machine for two men?
'How did my life come to be like this?' I pondered, feeling my eyes growing watery again, tears proceeding to roll down my cheeks.
......................
A loud knock resounded on our door that jolted me awake from my slumber. I lay still weakly, nothing sinking into my head until I heard Celestia scream from her room.
"Will you go get the door now, you fool!" She cursed, and I immediately flew up and dashed to the door, despite still feeling sleepy and a little bit of body pains.
I opened the door and went face to face with two huge, scary guys. They were both dressed in black and looked like the devil's agent. I immediately had a bad feeling about them but proceeded to ask anyway.
"Hmmm, ho-h how m-may I he-help you?" I stuttered, finding myself shaking from fear. The two huge guys both looked at me for a while before turning to look at one another.
The side of their lips curled up.
"Must be her," one of them, with brown hair, commented, and I marched an eyebrow at him.
"Who?" I questioned, and before I knew it, I was shoved away from the door, like a pest in the way.
"Ouch," I let out a low hiss from my body colliding with the war nearby.
"Oh, keep quiet, Vera," my mother snapped, calling out my name in short, and I kept shut immediately, not wanting to be hit in front of unknown strangers.
"Please do come in and pardon my stupid daughter for delaying you," my mother said, and I was surprised to see mum; I mean, my mum was actually acting politely towards people.
Inviting them in, giving them warm welcomes and even going as far as drawing chairs for them personally. I stood there, mouth agape, momentarily forgetting what I was to do next.
"Don't just stand there like an idiot, go fetch them something to drink," my father yelled at me, and I immediately got to work, knowing these people must be really important for my parents to be this nice and welcoming to them.
A shiver ran down my spine, my stomach churning and I wondered why. I got some warm drinks and served the guests before turning to leave when I heard one of them ask.
"Is that her?" At first, I was confused.
'What have I got to do with this?' Then it occurred to me as I had flashes of my parents' conversion the day before.
"Were those the men I was getting sold to?" I asked myself, turning around slowly to look at them, only to find them staring at me, one of them licking his lower lips and the other giving me a wink before moving to his trousers to scratch his crotch.
'Disgusting,' I thought, feeling my body being covered in goosebumps at the thought of me being a breeder to these two disgusting beings.
"We have to escape now," Dawn said in my head, and for the first time in months, I agreed with her and excused myself, pretending to take the used cups to the kitchen to clean them up.
Everywhere was suddenly suffocating, and I found it hard to breathe, gasping.
I was going to escape through the kitchen door. I didn't know where I would go, but at that moment that was the last thing on my mind. I had to escape first.
I dropped the tray carefully inside the sink, so as not to alert them, before gently opening the door and sneaking out, before shutting it behind me. I breathed a sigh of relief as soon as I had done that.
Just then, I heard Celestia's footsteps in the kitchen.
"Vera, Vera," she called out, and my heart skipped a beat.
VESPERA.
She suddenly stopped, probably noticing the bolt from the door missing. My heart did a hefty race against my chest as Celestia suddenly yelled out.
"She is gone". I was stuck, breathing heavily and feeling sweaty.
"Run now," Dawn yelled in my head, and I dashed for the woods, using all my strength and energy to run.
I didn't care if I was going into the wild bush, nor did I care about the thorns and sticks tearing at my gown.
I just had to get out of here. Each twig snapping underfoot felt like a thunderclap, urgency sparking in me.
Not too long ago, I heard footsteps behind me and looked back to see the huge, terrifying men right behind me and almost catching up to me.
I let out a gasp, and increased my pace, holding the rim of my gown in my hand to enable me to run faster. I mustn't get caught. I couldn't be a breeder to those men.
'No, no, no.' I cried in my head and heard footsteps right behind me, before someone grabbed me aggressively by my arm, their sharp nails piercing into my skin and probably drawing blood, but I didn't care and just struggled wildly, screaming in the process.
"Let me go, let me go, let me go."
"Shut up, you bitch!" He cursed before turning me harshly to face him; his face tightened into a scowl, probably annoyed. I tried to run from them.
I was terrified but knew if I let them take me, I would go through hell, so I kept struggling.
"Help" I screamed at the top of my lungs, despite knowing no one was around or could probably hear me because we were near the woods, but I still had a little glimmer of hope.
I scratched, kicked, and yelled, but all to no avail.
"Alright, that's it, David, the stuff" The guy holding me yelled, and my heart did a flip.
'Stuff, what stuff?' Before I could process my thoughts, something clamped my nose. I fought but was no match for the strength of the man holding me. I suddenly grew weak and stopped fighting.
My eyelids were closing on their own. I tried stopping it but failed.
The man holding me released me, probably realizing I was too weak to make a move now, and I collapsed right onto the floor, darkness consuming me with just one thought.
'Someone, please save me'.
..............
..............
I jolted out of bed and looked around, frantically realizing I was in an unknown bedroom, in an unknown bed.
"Vera, Vera" Dawn called quickly in my head, before inquiring, worry laced in her tone.
"Are you alright?" I didn't answer and just sat there in realization. I was successfully sold.
"She seems to have woken up, your highness", I heard a low, deep voice say, and turned, jerking back in shock from seeing a not, too, old man whom I guessed was the physician due to his ancient clock, looking right at me, and next to him, with white, curly hair, dressed in an elegant, overflowing gown was the.....
"Luna Queen?" I gasped, calling out in disbelief. She just stood there, looking down at me strangely, with no form of emotion in her expression.
She stared down at me for so long, I began to feel so uncomfortable.
"Good to see you are awake," she commented, and made to leave; when it hit me, I blurted out without thinking.
"But why am I here?" I asked, and she froze in her steps, her back still turned to me.
"Weren't you briefed?" She asked, and I shook my head sideways, forgetting she couldn't see me.
"You speak when the Luna Queen questions you," the physician suddenly yelled at me, making me jump backward in fright.
"Easy on the poor lass will you, Cedric?" The Luna Queen scolded, but in a soft tone and the physician bowed in acknowledgment.
"So young lass, you don't know what you are here to do?" The Luna Queen questioned again, turning to face me this time around, her sparking, golden orbs meeting me.
I immediately looked downwards towards the sheets, not finding myself worthy of looking at her in the eyes.
"N-n-not t-that, y-y-your Majesty" I stuttered, suddenly feeling hot for an unknown reason.
'I was taken away by two huge, scary men, but how come I am facing the Luna Queen now?' I pondered, millions of unanswered questions running through my head.
"Then what?" She asked and I gulped before replying.
"I was just suddenly grabbed away," I explained, and she chuckled.
I was amused and raised my head a little to peek at her. Her flawless face was beaming.
"My dear, have you heard about the royal family, looking for a young maiden to be a breeder for my two sons?" She inquired, and then, like a whirlpool, it hit me.
That was what my parents were whispering among themselves yesterday. They volunteered for me to be the breeder and probably didn't let me know, because they feared I would run away like I tried doing.
"I always knew your parents were gold-digging, unfortunate bastards," Dawn yelled in my head, but I was just too speechless and numb to say anything in response.
My entire body shook, color draining from my face. The Luna Queen, probably noticing the look of shock on my face, just said.
"I guess you have realized what you are here to do now. Prepare yourself for tomorrow night is the full moon festival, and you shall begin your duty to my sons".
I was too frozen to say anything in response and just kept my head still bent downwards, but I could hear the Luna Queen telling the physician to have me thoroughly checked and prepared before departing without looking back.
The tears came slowly, first a drop, then another before they gushed out silently. I still can't believe my parents were so heartless to do this to me, without even consulting me.
I know most people would expect me to be happy, saying this was an opportunity or privilege for me, but it was damn well not.
No maiden in their right senses would offer to be a breeder for the Lycan twins, because they were terrors.
Stories of their cruelty were told all across the realm.
They were rumored to be hideous, horrible monsters who treated women with contempt; some also said their eyes glowed like that of the devil; thereby, no maiden wanted to end up in their arms.
The royal family offered a lot of money, over 50 thousand pieces of gold, to whomever family could offer their daughter.
My parents, of course, couldn't offer their beloved Celestia, so they offered me instead.
'Aren't they my parents? Why were they just so cruel to me? 'Was it because I was just an omega?' I wondered, weeping as I could feel my heart shattering.
I did everything for them. I tried my best to make them happy, but it was just not enough.
I always dreamed of falling in love, getting married to my mate, and having a family, but I doubt any of that would come through now; I was about to become a baby-making machine.
"Enough with the tears and caution yourself." The royal physician roared at me, irritation obvious in his tone, but I didn't care and continued whimpering.
Seeing I wasn't listening to him, he let out a weary sigh before exiting the room and leaving me all alone. I was grateful for the privacy and cried my heart out.
A few minutes later, the door burst open, and in came an old woman with gray hair and three young girls trailing behind her, dressed in a maid's uniform.
The young girls were carrying dresses and accessories which I knew were for me.
The old woman stopped to assess me, and I think I saw something like pity flash through her green orbs, but when I blinked, it was gone.
"I am Madam Garcia, head maid and head of the servant quarters" she introduced, her expression stern but warming.
'Madam Garcia, was she Spanish?'. I looked at her for a while, before replying weakly.
"Vespera". Her eyes widened at the mention of my name.
"Vespera? "As in evening star?" She asked, and I nodded briskly, stunned she knew the meaning of my name because not many did.
She went silent for a while like she was doing some thinking in her head before she gestured to the girls behind her to do their jobs. I was suddenly grabbed and taken to the bathroom where I was thoroughly washed.
I was bathed with warm, petal water; my hair was washed with shampoo and other treatments, making it natural and bringing out its curls.
"Whoa!" "I love how curly your hair is," one of the maids commented, and I thanked her in appreciation. Afterward, I was dressed in a thin, free nightdress with a linen jacket.
"Would you love to have dinner here privately or with the royal family?" Madam Garcia asked, observing me.
My chest tightened as I realized dinner with the royal family meant facing them. The Lycan twins. I felt my hands trembling in my lap as I wondered:
'Was I ready?'
KIERAN.
"Mom, we are still not okay with this," my twin brother, Kalisto, informed our mother, slamming his fists against the desk in the Royal office.
Kalisto and I were tendering the Pack's matter when Mum and Cedric, our royal physicians, came in to inform us that our breeder had been brought and was being set ready for us.
"You both have no choice, boys. "I understand your feelings but..." I didn't allow her to finish her statement before I cut in.
"Do you mum, do you really understand our feelings?" I questioned, looking away from the window and into her golden irises.
"You are forcing us" I began, pointing to my brother and me.
"To forcefully mate with an unknown peasant when we have a woman we love so dearly," I reminded her just in case she had forgotten, and she let out a weary sigh, moving to place one of her hands on her forehead.
"And I will be telling you, boys, this for the hundredth time." She began.
"It's not my wish nor my choice. "You both have to do this and you know it. "Lily has no opposition to this because she understands, so why can't you boys?" My mother inquired, raising her voice a little at us.
Her face scrunching up into a frown. I looked away and went to sit on the sofa, laying my back against its softness and closing my eyes.
"Is there really no other way out?" Kalisto questioned Cedric for the third time today.
"No, your Majesty. "You both have to do this or the consequences would be severe," Cedric replied.
"Alright then, but promise us, Mother." "As soon as we impregnated that thing, and she delivered it, she would be sent out and our marriage to Lila would commence right away," Kalisto said, and I flipped my eyes open to notice our mother agreeing to the arrangements.
"It is settled then," Cedric announced.
"Tomorrow night is the full moon festival and the perfect time for your highnesses to get to work," he added, and I rolled my eyes, but I muttered out loud, wrinkling my nose in disgust.
"We know Cedric." He shut up instantly and bowed.
"Kieran. "You will not speak to him that way." Mum scolded, turning to glare at me, and I scoffed to reply, but Kalisto beat me to it.
"And why not mother? He is his subordinate, after all, so he can do as he pleases."
Mum went silent for a while before speaking up.
"I am sure I did not teach you boys to be rude" And I chuckled, surprising everyone.
"Is that just it, Mother, or is there something else going on, oblivious to Kalisto and me?" I inquired, and she stumbled a little, all colors drained from her face, while Cedric's eyes grew wide in horror.
"Just like I thought" I muttered under my breath, but only loud enough for Kalisto to hear as he turned to throw me a glance.
"Are you back to your unnecessary observations again?" Mother asked, while trying to regain her balance, but then I just grinned and let it go.
"I have things to do, Your Highnesses." "I shall take my leave now," Cedric informed me, but neither I nor Kalisto cared nor replied to him as he dashed out of the royal office.
After he left, Mother turned to glare at both Kalisto, most especially me, but I still had the side of my lips curved up.
"I am so disappointed," she murmured before barging out angrily. Meanwhile, I just sat there, not moving a muscle, chuckling in amusement.
"I think I might start to believe you, Kieran," Kalisto said, and I lazily turned to raise my brows at him.
"After all these months?" I asked and he went mute. After our father's death a year ago, I tried to inform this twin of mine that Mum and Cedric were having a secret affair, but he refused to believe me because he thought his beloved mother couldn't stoop so low.
'But, well, she did and was most definitely riding that stinky royal physician's cock.' I thought with disgust, feeling extremely disappointed in Mother.
I understand she must have felt lonely and unwanted, but she shouldn't have been stupid enough to allow Cedric in between her legs.
There were royal men or at least noble men out there who desired my mother so much and would do anything just to have her, but dear mum chose Cedric instead.
"Do you really think Lily is okay with this?" Kalisto inquired.
"Well, she appears to be," I replied nonchalantly; her issue was the last thing on my mind at the moment, though I wished just as hell as he did that I didn't have to sleep with a peasant.
"She must be so hurt" Kalisto commented, his eyes dropping and pain obvious in his tone. Yes, my twin brother was the sentimental one and was so madly in love with Lily.
I did love her too, but not as much as he did. Lily has always been there for us, our childhood friend whom we decided was suitable to be our Luna and future bride till this calamity happened.
"Well, look on the bright side. "We got to marry her after all," I reminded him, and the tension died down.
....................................................................................................................................................................
Finally, It is the day we have been looking forward to and, at the same time, dreading.
The full moon festival, where all Lycans and wolves gathered to celebrate the full moon and appreciate the moon goddess for her kindness towards us, in their respective realms.
We dare not celebrate together in one place or there will be war.
"Do you think Lily will show up?" Kieran asked me as we both stepped into the hall, where the celebration was taking place in full glory.
I shrugged before responding.
"Not sure because I doubt she would love to see us with another lady". Just then, the most beautiful scent I have ever perceived in my entire 23 years of living hit my nose.
I stiffened, my body jerking up and my wolf, Ryker, flipping around happily in my head.
"Can you perceive that?" I turned to inquire from Kalisto, whose eyes I noticed were glowing around.
He nodded, and the scent hit me again at full bloom.
My body grew tense, and I felt the urge to just find whosoever had this scent and bury myself inside her. I turned in her direction, sniffling and trying to figure out what was happening.
"Mate, mate, mate" Ryker growled possessively in my head.
I froze as I came face to face with a gorgeous, pale-skinned young girl whose eyes drifted around like a frightened mouse, fidgeting with her hands.
Kalisto joined me right after, breathing heavily as he asked.
"Did you find her?" I didn't reply to him as my eyes were still fixated on her. Kalisto, seeing I wasn't paying attention to him, turned to look at her as well and staggered back from shock.
The girl did the same and then Madame Garcia pooped out of nowhere, beaming.
"I see you have met your breeder, my lord" she announced.
"What?" Kalisto screamed while I drew in a sharp breath, my jaw clenching as I couldn't believe our breeder was our mate.
