TRIVIAS POV.
Tension and fear washed through me while I remained seated, my fingers stuck in my teeth as I chewed on my fingertips nervously. I clutched hard to the ends of the sofa, worried at what my fate was to be.
I looked down again at my lap and then trailed my hands across my neck. The bruises were not fully healed and were terribly sore, and without doubt I knew the chances of getting beaten were high once again.
Worry thugged at my heart as it pounded hard against my chest. I fondled the envelope as I retraced the letter in my head.
„SERUM PREGNANCY TEST, NEGATIVE."
The door pushed open on cue, and my heart sank in my chest. How time had passed. Goosebumps crept over my skin as I wondered how I became scared of someone whom I once had butterflies for. The feelings were lost, from love to fear.
„How was your day, honey?" I called out hastily and panicked. I hesitated for a bit and proceeded to take the bag in his hands.
„Oh, get off me, you hypocrite." He yelled angrily. Just then, I realized the look of disgust on his face as he stared down at me. Bitterness etched down my throat as I tried to control my fear.
„I got a call from the doctor." My heart picked up its pace-perhaps it was better; he heard himself rather than me saying the words.
„The results?" He asked, although he probably knew what the response was already.
"Negative Embry, but I promise next time." He held up his palm against my face as sweat trickled down from my forehead, folded the hems of his shirt, and placed his briefcase down.
"come here!" He ordered, and a mist of tears formed in my eyes as I tried hard to have them held in. It was about to be a disaster. I spent all day praying to the moon goddess that some sort of miracle happened, but I was wrong. For all it was worth, he remained a monster.
„Closer," he added. My feet were shaky with each step I took, and soon I was merely a few inches away from him.
"Now tell me, what have I not done for you?" His voice was low, cold, and menacing. I grew bitter with each passing second. It was down to my ruins; I could not help it.
"Nothing," I responded. I knew they were lies. Maybe if he had asked me this very question five years ago, my response might have been different, but not anymore. He got worse with each passing day.
"Good, now why the fuck is it so hard to bear me an heir?" That was the most of it. I fought hard, having my tears held in, but I knew I had made a ghastly mistake as they slid off my cheeks.
"You get to cry now?" He asked, dangerously close to me. I predicted it but had not expected it to come so soon. With a strike to my cheeks, I hurled my palms at my face as the downpour of tears followed.
"Embry, please; I'm no longer healing." I pleaded with him, our eyes matched, and I saw no humanity left in his. He looked nothing better than a monster as he grabbed me by the throat and drew me closer. I wept continually, and slight coughs escaped my throats as I felt the air closing in on me.
"You are nothing but a useless, weak, barren omega, and I would never have fallen in love with a nobody like you, and now I can see clearly, whatever jinx you had on me is gone, you bloody ingrate." He threw me over to the floor, and I crashed with a heavy impact. My sides shook from pain. I knew my not fully healed bones had broken again. I sucked in air hungrily, knowing my life had slipped right before my very eyes.
"Useless, I say! I am the Alpha and I need an heir; one thing trivia, one bloody thing, and you can't even do it right for fucks sake," he yelled again. It had become his favourite hobby whenever he was with me, and his ability to speak in a calm tone magically disappeared.
I gathered myself from the floor and tried to stand, yet after many failed attempts, he watched my despair, rooted to a spot with an irritated look on his face.
"We can try again; just one more chance, please..." I promise I'll get pregnant. I pleaded with him, and I clutched to my sides as I finally got the chance to stand to my full length.
"one more? You'll get pregnant? You disgust me with trivia, and you must be insane if you think I'll ever fuck you, even as little as once, you worthless brat."
The anger in his tone was evident, and so was the angry glare that he passed at me. He moved towards me, closing all spaces.
"Pack your things, trivia. Head down to the second floor; you'll be staying there henceforth." I trembled as I listened to his words; they pierced through me like arrows shot into my heart. Ireached towards him with shaky hands as I gathered myself and moved towards him.
"No, no... Please, I'll do better. I promise, just once more, Embry, I love you. Please don't send me away." I pleaded once more; I could not help it anymore; the pain became unbearable.
"I'm only sending you down to the second floor; what's with the whole ruckus? Besides, it's not like you are useful other than being a bed warmer; all I wanted from you was a child, a young alpha, and you can't do it right. I'll head on to the bathroom now; pack your bags." He threw my hands off him and pushed me towards the floor as he headed towards the bathroom.
"Don't let me meet you here." He added in and shut the door. Tears slid from my eyes as I got to my feet, and my whole life shattered right before my eyes. I knew I needed to heed his words. I stuck at my stuff, packing it into my bags hastily, knowing if he met me there, every bone in my body would be broken from being beaten.
I didn't understand how we got there, and I hated to admit the fact that it all started when I could not bring forth an heir. Years passed. Embry became a monster, one who beat me at any chance he got, and yes, I still loved him.
TRIVIAS POV.
The door flung open suddenly, sending jolts of electricity down my spine.
"You filthy whore!."Embry's raging voice called out on cue as he stormed into the room, grabbed me by the neck, and threw me against the floor.
"What's this about?" I asked, parting my lips slowly as I dared not glance up into his eyes.
"I would have known better than to get married to a lowly servant like you, useless to the core! And now you are sleeping around? So you bloody think I'm a fool?" He asked again, his gaze bloodshot as he bent to my level, yanked at my hair, and grabbed at it with full force.
"You are dead to me from this instant; I do not ever want to see you or hear anything about you."
"I did nothing, I swear." I pleaded, tears falling from my eyes as I listened to him rage on.
"I saw you, my two bloody eyes, walking out of Stephan's room today, and I came after you, but here you are still laying against the floor, acting all pretentious!" He yelled again; it seemed more surreal to me.
I didn't know what he was getting at. Stephan was his half brother who had tried seducing me countless times already, but I wasn't a whore. I remained faithful to Embry, but why was he claiming to have seen what he hadn't?
"Oh, please stop with the crappy tears and hold whatever it is you have to say to me. I knew you were cheap, bloody weak, useless down to the core, but a filthy low life would never amount to anything. I blame all this on my father!" He yelled again, held me tight by the cheekbone, and I winced from pain, knowing if he applied a little more force, my jaw was definitely going to break apart.
"You disgust me," he added in with a scoff. He moved away from me and proceeded to walk out before I grabbed onto his feet.
"embry wait.. Please.. Listen to me; just because it wasn't me, I didn't do it. It had nothing to do with me. I swear by the moon goddess, I had been in my room all night. Ask the guards, the maids, anyone. No one had seen me come out; there is nothing between Stephan and me." I pleaded again as I kept on crying.
Tears streaked off my cheeks to no stop as he jerked his legs off my grip.
"You are crazy if you think I have a reason to be bothered by your thoughts or nonsense... I want nothing to do with you again; you can go ahead and be his mistress. I had better plans either way, but the blood moon festival is tomorrow. You are to remain locked up in this room until I say otherwise, and in two days I will know what to do with you. Filthy pig."
Having said that, he stormed out of the room and passed out orders to the guard by the door to bolt the lock until he gave other orders.
I remained on the floor bawling my eyes out, my hand grabbed tight against my chest, as I felt the pain seep in at intervals.
I was certain he had not seen me because I remained in my room all through. I had no reason to lie, but with him, it tended to be different things; someone had lied to him about it, and he trusted those words over mine.
The door pushed open again, and I raised my eyes in the direction, surprised to see Pearl, my personal maid, in my chambers. I knew it was against Embry's orders; he wasn't going to allow it.
She fell to her feet, bending on all fours, as tears dropped from her eyes as well.
"I don't know what this is about, Pearl, but you should not be here." I complained hastily, scared for her.
"I know, my lady, but I have failed you... You trusted me, but I betrayed you." She ranted on and on, and my heart skipped beats. I wanted to know what she wanted to say, but I didn't want to hear it. Pearl was the only thing closest to me as family.
"I'm sorry, my lady; I could not say anything to you. Please forgive me; the mistress had asked me not to say a thing." She pleaded, and then my face fell, and pain tugged at my heart. Things like this never end well.
"Whatever it is, I don't want to hear it." I yelled, letting go of my anger all at once. I don't want to lose her as well.
"the alpha... He has a mistress; he brings her to the pack house at intervals.'' Pearl admitted it, and my heart shattered yet again. With more unbearable pain, a mist of tears formed in my eyes as I fought hard to keep them in.
"I was forced to lie to the Alpha; I had to tell him you went to the Lord Stephans room over the night. I had no choice; she threatened my family. I needed to do it. She would have killed them if I didn't do as she said; I lied; it was all me; I told the Alpha you and Lord Stephan had been having an affair for five months now." She blurted out, sending waves of pain all through me.
She lied to me. She bloody betrayed me; I trusted her the most, and she played it in my face, but embry... He had a woman elsewhere-a mistress, a concubine.
"Who else knows?" I asked slowly as my lips parted with ease.
"Everyone, the whole pack, but you, the red blood moon festival tomorrow, it's their wedding," she admitted again, and I saw as tears trickled down from her eyes.
"I'm sorry, my lady; I could not do anything about it, '' she pleaded, sobbing continuously.
She stopped, her eyes trailing off behind me as she frowned hard. She looked frightened, and I turned in the same direction.
"She's here; this is his mistress." Pearl added in hastily, her gaze fixed on the female figure standing before the door.
"What do you mean she's his mistress?" I asked, and doubt filled my voice.
"Sheila is my best friend, not a mistress!" I yelled
"oh darling.. Your little maid is right, and it isn't mistress anymore; it's fiance." She responded and held her finger up. My eyes fixed on her huge diamond studded into a ring. My best friend was my mate's mistress.
TRIVIA'S POV.
My body shook while I stood to my feets, the door pushed open right on cue, and Erebus made his way into the room. He glanced around and saw the situation. The first thing he had done was whisk Isabella into his grasps.
He pressed his lips against hers, both lost in their own world while mine got broken at every minute. I couldn't bear the pain anymore; it was fucking tearing me apart.
"How dare you both?!" I yelled at the top of my voice, anger seeping into me. I saw them both happily kissing, while Erebus placed his palms on Sheila's belly and a smile settled in on his face. I knew at the moment that love was nothing but a scam. A weakness. It was all a waste-my years of putting the things I loved together, all through bearing the pain and pushing forth in a toxic marriage. All of it was a bloody waste.
"Keep your voice down; you will harm the baby," Erebus asserted. I saw Sheila, beaming with smiles even after she ruined my life-a sly fox she had been, a cunning wolf.
"You should be the one with the fucking voice down, Erebus! How dare you have an affair with her! She was meant to be my best friend?" He pulled closer to me in an attempt this time to hit my face, but I didn't fidget nor have a word said,. I remained fixed on my stance, glaring at him.
"Hit me! Go on, bloody try it. My father made you Alpha. I may have been omega at birth, but my father had been Alpha; he bestowed all these things on you because of me. And now you dare cheat on me with Sheila?" I asked, and for the first time I had rendered Erebus speechless. He swallowed hard and seemed taken aback by my sudden change in personality.
"Fine! Have fun living a crappy life with Sheila! But I will tell you this: I will take all that belongs to my father; not anymore will I be your prey; I regret ever knowing you; and I assure you, I'll take back everything you've stolen from me; you will pay. I'll make you regret it, I swear down." My words and my stance were clear.
Thunderstruck right on cue, and I made my way out of the room. I was done raking for the both of them; they wanted a baby, then to hell with them; they found love in each other. Screw that nonsense. I was done with Erebus and done with love.
I stopped to a halt; I could hear light footsteps behind me; it blended into the shadows but drew closer; my heart picked up a pace; and then I saw someone. Launched a dagger at me but missed. I realized at the moment that my life was in danger.
I stuck to my feet while the person chased after me. It was not Erebus, but I could tell it was one of his men. With each step I took. cold chills ran down my spine while I swore to get my revenge; my life couldn't end in such a way. I couldn't die so easily, not after all that I had been through.
I slipped, crashed onto my back while an arrow was fired ahead of me, and my wolf whimpered inside of me. She had never been the type of wolf to face harsh conditions.
I stood my feet again, running hastily, not bothering to glance back-not even once during the chase, the downpour increased heavy at the moment, rain fell like harsh pebbles against my skin, bitterness ensued within me, and tears clustered up in my eyes..more determined! More than ever, I made another turn, but when I stopped to a halt, I was by the edge of a cliff.
Slowy I peered ahead; it looked fucking deep. One little mistake, and I was dead. I drew in a long breath. I could hear the footsteps from the assassin draw closer towards me. I pushed backward while relief washed overme as I set back ahead, towards the top of the cliff, and stopped to a halt while my eyes matched those of the assassin.
Cold chills ran down my spine, my body shook from worry, and a knot was tied at the pit of my belly as a sudden realization. I had been cornered; there was no other escape route meant for me.
He pulled out an arrow and shot me right In the chest, and i stumbled a bit, my feet falling towards the back. A loud crash followed, and the next thing I realized was my body rolling off the edge of a cliff. My eyes closed shut, but I swore within myself. I couldn't die so easily; life had been unfair. I needed my revenge, a second chance that was all I wanted. Even if it soeasmt last long I needed to make Erebus pay for all he had done.
*************
"She's beautiful. Her eyes."
"Common, don't be a freak."
"It isn't allowed; you both should move away from her." A low whisper erupted as I lay still and heard three different voices. My eyes still closed shut as I swallowed hard; I didn't understand what it was all about.
Slowly, I pushed open my eyes, and they all screamed from surprise, flinching away from me as if they were caught in some bad act.
A smile fell on my face, and they leaned closer to me.
"The princess is awake," the first girl whispered.
"Is the princess awake?." the second asked, as they all stared at me like some sort of amazing trophy.
"wait! The princess is awake!." The third girl yelled in surprise, and they all scampered away from the spot.
"EVERYONE! THE PRINCESS IS AWAKE!" A voice yelled a few feet away from me, and a huge bell rang as it carried an echo all through the building, and it looked nothing like the pack house.
