Chapter 1 1

Hector Hidalgo had a happy family he loved so much.

He was a man who was known to be jovial, happy in both work and private life, planning everything he owned and had without being possessive or harsh to get to his position of being a multi-billionaire was how he had ensured his success.

He had built his company from scratch without his own family money getting involved. That was how his father had trained him to achieve his goal and success.

But things changed when Hector Hidalgo lost his wife in an accident that got him depressed, he was always out drinking and coming back home late. He felt fate was cruel to have put him in a situation like this, Hector had become grumpy, possessive and arrogant since that incident.

He wasn't the only one depressed but his 15-year-old daughter and his 5year old daughter, Rose Hidalgo was the youngest who was traumatized by the incident that caused her mother's death, while the eldest Maria Hidalgo was most affected since she was her mothers favorite.

This was the reason he was being pressured by his mother and his very own best friend to take a maid to care for his daughter. He had gone downstairs to notice a woman in his huge parlor touching just anything her hands could feel, he knew he hadn't invited anybody into his house today.

He looked at the floor to notice the bright pink suitcase close to her feet as her hand kept wandering around a frame that had a daughter and a mother on it. Hector bit his bottom lips as a frown appeared on his forehead.

He stared at her hair which was dirty brown in color and was packed in a ponytail. He stared at her shoes to notice how worn out they looked and her ripped jeans were the worst. He was stunned at how that frame captured her attention and she just couldn't notice his entrance.

He certainly didn't understand what was fascinating about such a frame. He stared at her petit form. At the mere gape he had already figured out who she was, he couldn't help it as an evil smirk played widely on his lips.

Even after his wife's death, his dark hair, power, wealth, and as well his handsomeness made women throng themselves at him but never had he thought of them as someone he was attracted to.

Hector never imagined that it could get to this, that they could stalk him to his house. News has been going around and letters have been mailed to him by unknown ladies who claim they had his baby but he could swear that he loved his wife when she was alive and had never cheated on her.

He was too depressed about what had been going on for a month to be interested in any woman, though he knew he was only interested in girls that hardly paid him much attention! Just like his late wife Susan did, he had chased her like a puppy till she finally accepted to be with him.

He knew he was weird but that was the only thing in a woman that sparked his whole being. Gritting his teeth together he walked fully inside the parlor, he coughed a little to gain the Lady's attention.

"You are not one of my stalkers, are you?" he asked, making the lady stare at her shoe. He felt sick at her sluggish ways, he wanted to hear her speak.

He watched as her hands clutched her clothes as she kept murmuring to herself. She glanced at him, making him notice that her face had gone red. "I repeat, who are you and what are you doing inside my house?" he demanded as he turned to notice his 5-year-old daughter dressed up as she walked toward him.

"You are invading my privacy and I might include the police for trespassing, at this level if you don't speak in 5 seconds! You might end up in prison for the rest of your life, " he let out as his daughter stood clutching his clothes tightly.

He was furious already as he pulled his phone to make a call when her voice stopped him. "Sir, I'-I, " she stammered and Hector could see her collarbones popping out from fear. She heaved a sigh before staring at the cute 5-year-old clutched to her father.

"My mother," she let out before shaking her head.

Hector was getting frustrated and irritated as he folded his arms across his chest not helping her out of her predicament. When she stared at his eyes he raised an eyebrow and stared back.

"My name is Teresa Conner, I saw a poster asking for a maid, I called the number and a lady picked! She directed me here, that's all, I promise," she finally let out, making Hector wiggle his head, he knew that woman this lady was talking about was nobody else but his mother.

"But does that include a suitcase, " he asked dryly, as he stared at her pink suitcase that looked well packaged and stuffed with clothes. "She told me I needed to be around your daughter, she explained that she was, uhhh___, " she said, not finishing her sentence.

Teresa's face got more red as she stared at the well-built figure before her, her boss was handsome and could be mistaken for a greek God. He stared at her to notice that she wasn't tense as she was before, she had now dropped her hand to swing uselessly.

"You are employed, only to care for my daughter and nothing else, got that?" he questioned plainly, making her move to hug him. "Thank you, thank you, at least mum can get her medication, " Teresa said as some tears found their way out of her eyes.

When she realized what she was doing she pulled away and bent her head in embarrassment.

They stood in silence with no spoken words.

Teresa's heart was pounding hard in her chest. She stared up to notice a huge frown on Hector's face, she hoped she hadn't done anything to make him go back on his word. She had agreed to take a job like this because her sick mother needed medication so badly and her siblings needed to be taken care of.

And this man in front of her could solve her problem by letting her work here. "I would give you the job but then again, you can't stay at my place, " he said with finality as he stared at her eyes without flinching.

Chapter 2 2

"No, please let me stay. I can't just go home," she begged, desperation for the job was written all over her face. "Please, my place is very distant and I would go homeless if you send me away, " she let out, going on her knees.

Hector's dark eyes glared down at her.

His cheeks were burning, he hadn't seen anybody that could act this way for a job, Teresa moved further before grabbing his legs. Hector tried not to be affected by the way she was holding his leg, he noticed that some tears were already finding their way out of her eyes.

He didn't want her to cry again in front of him. He hated it when someone had to cry in front of him because it meant he was the cause of such an action. He closed his eyes before gritting his teeth together, Hector tried to keep his face void and not get twisted by her emotions.

He wouldn't deny the fact that she was pretty even if she was on the verge of tears. And he knew that she was dangerous, very dangerous.

women tend to use their pitiful situation as weapons and he hated the fact that it did work on him.

"I understand you Miss Conner but could you stop what you, " he tried to say but was cut shut by the ringing of his phone. He brought out his phone in frustration and relief, he swiped the answer button the instant he noticed that she was going to speak up again.

He kept a finger to his lips. He was telling her to keep shut while he answered his call, he moved to the end of the room to speak to the person on the other line. He turned to notice Teresa adjusting the bow tie on Rose's hair, he fought back a smile.

Hector released a huge sigh before he could find his voice again. "I don't know Mom but you shouldn't have done this," he answered as he stared at Teresa making some funny face at Rose who kept chuckling, he wiggled his head at her reaction.

The instant he dropped his phone, there was another call from his office. Hector didn't want to pick up as he kept his phone on silent before fixing his phone back to his pocket. He examined Teresa.

"Okay, I would give you a chance here Teresa," he let out, making Rose cheer with a smile. "Don't thank me for letting you stay, it just seems Rose likes your company, " he said, making his daughter move towards him before hugging him.

"Th, " she was going to say but he cut her short. "Don't thank me, just do your job," he let out as Teresa nodded in affirmation with her eyes staring at him with joy, she didn't know how to thank him enough for accepting her into his home.

"You know about my daughter being Traumatized? She couldn't speak much because she was in shock, I hope you don't stress her and do your job, I will be off to work, we will discuss more when I get back home, " he let out, making Teresa nod.

"Miss Conner?" he called, making her raise an eyebrow.

"The salary is the same as the one on the poster, you just have to do your part of the job well. I would draw us a contract later and before I forget both parties have a right to end the contract at any time, " he said again making Teresa blink her eyes and nod like a mannequin.

"Just follow me, I have no time to waste, " Hector said holding his daughter's hand, " Teresa was a little terrified by the way her new boss was acting. She didn't know whether she should be happy or sad, she was happy that his mother had called and talked some sense into him.

She couldn't imagine herself walking around in the big city of Las Vegas. She didn't stay in the city and it took her the courage to leave her hometown in search of a job in the city.

"Miss Conner?" her boss called.

She shrieked. She quickly grabbed her pink suitcase before following her new boss, she hurried up to catch his pace because he was walking very fast. He turned to glare at her but wiggled his head without saying a word.

She kept counting the twists and turns they had taken. Teresa tried to understand the huge house but it turned out she was confused. If she was to do her job well, she should be fast in understanding every nook and cranny of the big house.

For now, she was enjoying every view of the house. Her eyes were amazed by the highly decorated home, Hector Hidalgo was a businessman known in the news and on all front pages of the magazine.

She didn't know he had time to put his huge house in order. The thick carpet and the artwork used to decorate the house were beautiful, "Miss Conner, I will introduce you to Nanny Nita when she is back from her trip." she nodded at the way his personality could switch at any time.

"You would later learn that I hate people who don't listen, I love it when you stick by my rules because I'm not a forgiving person, I hope you stick to my rules, "

With that, he opened a door allowing her to step inside before him. Teresa sighed before entering the room, she was shocked at the dirty environment she was standing in. Teresa closed her eyes and opened them again just to be sure she wasn't hallucinating.

The kitchen was, gigantic, expensive, and had all the items needed but why was it this messy? There were used plates and flour everywhere. She moved further to notice stains of food and crushed eggs littering just everywhere.

She still couldn't understand why a huge and expensive kitchen would look this dirty. why weren't other helpers around? was she the first?

so many questions ran through her mind but she couldn't question her employer.

She looked up at the ceiling and walls to notice peels of pancakes and pasta everywhere. Hector moved into the kitchen before standing behind Teresa, his body was so close to her that she could scent his fragrance whacking her nose.

She would be fibbing to say she didn't love it, she could stand beside her boss all day just perceiving the nice scent.

"Your job has just started," he whispered in her ear before leaving with his daughter.

Teresa couldn't help but wonder why he was acting grumpy.

Chapter 3 3

The instant the door closed Teresa couldn't help but let out a frustrated groan. The door swung open again making Teresa hitch her breath, she thought it was Hector storming into the kitchen all over again but an old woman with white hair walked inside holding her Luggage with Rose gripping her hand tightly.

The woman kept panting to catch her breath, Teresa didn't blame her because the stairs in the house were the reason, there was a lot of walking to do to get to each direction. She took a few moments before raising her hand to indicate that she needed water, Teresa was confused as to where the tap was or where the cup was as she kept scanning everywhere.

After a lot of twists and turns, she finally brought her a cup of water. The old lady grabbed the cup of water before gulping it down her throat. She smiled at Teresa the moment she was okay.

"Oh, dear, " she mumbled as she held the old lady by the hand to help her sit on a chair.

"Thank you, " Ms. Clinton let out as she placed her hand on her wrinkled cheeks exhaustedly.

"I'm sorry, I just got back from my hometown, and climbing those stairs was a lot of work, " she said as Hector walked into the kitchen. "Welcome back Nanny, " Hector said, hugging the old lady. "I have to get to the office, this is the new maid who is going to help around! Please show her around, " he said, kissing his daughter on the forehead as she left a warm kiss on his cheeks.

"Of course, Hector, " she let out, touching her white hair.

"Thank you, I would see you at night after work!" he said to Ms. Clinton as he glanced at Teresa, before walking out of the door.

As Hector Hidalgo's footstep slinked. Her stomach was filled with fear and reality, she knew things wouldn't be easy.

A week ago she never would have imagined that she would be right here standing in this huge mansion staring at Rose who hardly or barely talks. Then again things had been different and she was happy in the little room that was given to her by the old lady.

Two pairs of eyes were watching her intently with flour all over her hair and face. She moved towards Her before cleaning the floor stain in her face, "why did you throw flour all over your face baby?" she asked as Rose stood mute without saying anything.

Teresa didn't want to be hard on the little girl since she was passing through something huge. Dragging her eyes away from Rose, her eyes landed on the older woman who was setting up breakfast for Rose, her face was pale and tiredness was written all over her face.

Trying not to sound rude she moved towards her, she had been arranging her stuff in her room, she hadn't gotten the chance to introduce herself to Ms. Clinton. She didn't know anything about Ms. Clinton neither did Ms. Clinton know anything about her.

"Hi, I'm Teresa Conner, " she said, making Ms. Clinton flash her a smile. Teresa noticed the weariness of Ms. Clinton as she held the wall for support.

"I'm Nita," she retorted as she held her head.

"It's nice to meet you, you don't seem that well, " Teresa said with so much concern.

"I'm not as young as I used to be, just catching my breath for a few minutes would do love!" she said, making Teresa nod as she noticed the old lady Fanning her face with her hand.

Teresa took to the kitchen to get the mess cleared out but was surprised that the old lady had cleaned the mess and the kitchen was a sparkle. The kitchen was the type she had always dreamed of but she didn't know she would one day see it in person, it was a very beautiful kitchen.

"WHO ARE YOU?" A voice asked, making Teresa turn. She noticed a girl who was dressed in a high school uniform, the girl was beautiful and she had a striking resemblance to her father.

"Maria, she is the new Maid who is to help around." Ms. Clinton let out. "Hello?" Teresa mumbled as she waved her hand but Maria took her phone from the pocket of her blazer without saying anything.

"Mr. Hector didn't say anything about him having an elder daughter or did the woman who had given her the job, " she paused trying to process her words.

"Yes, Hector wouldn't have mentioned it to you because he is most worried about Rose's condition, she was there when her mother died. Maria is also affected by her mother's death but Hector needs someone who can be there for Rose as always, " Nita let out, making Teresa move to the sink to wash the dirty items Nita had used to cook.

"Unfortunately I'm too old to keep up with the two girls and their father, the Last maid left because she couldn't put up with them, " Nita finally let out.

Teresa was intrigued by this little piece of information that Nita had told her. She knew it was none of her business but yet she couldn't stop her mouth from asking questions. "What happened to his wife?"

She asked but Nita shook her head as she arranged some drinks in the fridge. "That better left unsaid. I would give you a little advice, Mr. Hidalgo loves his privacy and family above anything else, the last housekeeper didn't work well and I would advise you to be on his good side, " Nita spilled out, making Teresa swallow the Lump that had foamed in her throat.

"Let's forget about this, why don't you follow me so I can show you around. We have to sort things out before Hector gets back from the office. Mind you, he loves to see everywhere sparkling clean and set in order." Nita said, making Teresa nod.

"See you when I'm back Nanny, " Maria said pecking Nita's head before walking away.
