Author: Sunian Jinshi
Genre: Werewolf
"Ah... Dan... right there..." "Laura, you're so much tighter than she is. That wolfless reject is just a boring log in bed. Once I find my true mate, I'll kick her out." On our second engagement anniversary, I came home early with a gift, only to hear my fiancé saying those exact words to my own cousin-while writhing naked on my bed. I worked myself to the bone, ate instant noodles for a month to buy him armor, and to him, I was nothing but a free maid and a disposable ATM! With my heart turned to ash, I smashed the bedroom, walked out into the night, and knocked on the door of the most ruthless tyrant in the city: my boss, Alpha Kane Cain. Driven by a desperate need to obliterate my pathetic past, I surrendered to the apex predator. Fueled by whiskey, I even wrote him a note, authorizing him to possess me however he wanted. I thought it was just a reckless, one-night mistake. Until the next morning, when pure terror struck me-the cold-blooded tyrant hadn't pulled out! As a wolfless Omega at the bottom of the hierarchy, carrying an Alpha's child without a mark was an absolute death sentence. Terrified, I tried to draw the line, even offering my resignation to escape him. But instead of letting me go, the ruthless Alpha caged me against the wall, his stormy eyes burning with a terrifying, primal possessiveness. He pulled out the exact note I had signed in my drunken haze and growled, "Did that statement have an expiration date, little wolf? You gave me this power... and don't you dare pretend you can take it back now."

Chapter 1

Fallon POV

"Ah... Dan... right there..." "Laura, you're so much tighter than she is. That wolfless reject is just a boring log in bed. Once I find my true mate, I'll kick her out."

On our second engagement anniversary, I came home early with a gift, only to hear my fiancé saying those exact words to my own cousin-while writhing naked on my bed.

He pulled out the exact note I had signed in my drunken haze and growled,

"Did that statement have an expiration date, little wolf? You gave me this power... and don't you dare pretend you can take it back now."

--

Today, my boss unexpectedly gave me half a day off. I tightly gripped an expensive bottle of wine in my hand-one I had saved up my overtime pay for a long time to buy, Dan's favorite vintage. I joyfully imagined the look of surprise on his face when I walked into our townhouse today, on our second engagement anniversary.

I unlocked the front door and stepped into the foyer. "Dan?" I called out softly, slipping off my heels.

Dead silence. But as I took a deep breath, a violent spasm twisted my stomach. The wine bottle nearly slipped from my fingers.

Even as a "wolfless" Omega, my senses were sharp enough to instantly detect the stench polluting my home. The scent was thick, musky, and nauseating-the heavy, unmistakable smell of raw lust.

It was Dan's scent, tightly tangled with a cloyingly sweet vanilla fragrance.

Laura. My own cousin.

My heart slammed against my ribs. My bare feet made no sound on the wooden stairs. With every step, the sickening cocktail of their intertwined scents grew stronger, completely masking the faint, fresh scent of wild lilies I had worked so hard to maintain in my home.

"Ah... Dan... right there..." Laura's breathless, shameless moans drifted through the narrow gap of my bedroom door, followed by the wet, muddy sound of flesh slapping against flesh.

My blood instantly turned to ice. I stood frozen outside the door, my hand hovering over the doorknob.

"Laura, you're so much tighter than she is," Dan growled, his voice laced with a dark, primal desire-a desire he had never, ever shown me in the dark.

"Am I?" Laura giggled. "But Fallon is your fiancée. Can't she satisfy you?"

"Don't bring up that boring log right now," Dan scoffed, the sound slicing through my chest like a rusty, serrated knife. "She's just a wolfless reject. She doesn't even have a heat cycle, and she can't even feel the most basic mate bond of a werewolf. Sleeping with her is like completing a boring chore. Until I find my true fated mate, she's nothing but a useful, free maid and an ATM to keep the house clean and pay my mortgage. But you... Laura, you drive my inner wolf absolutely crazy."

The air in my lungs was instantly crushed out by an invisible pair of hands.

As a wolfless Omega, I was at the absolute bottom of the Blackwood Pack's hierarchy pyramid, always treated as a worthless defective. But Dan, a respected Pack Warrior, had once gotten down on one knee and sworn to protect me forever.

For that promise, I had humbled myself into the dust in this relationship. I took on all the chores; when he was sick, I stayed up for three days and nights without food or water to care for him. I used my hard-earned salary to pay the down payment on this house. I ate instant noodles for a straight month just to buy him limited-edition armor, and even purchased expensive warrior gear for him, all in the hope that he would be safe...

I poured all my heart and soul into this man, treating him as the only light in my dark world. But it turned out that all my sacrifices were nothing more than a "free, desperate maid" in his eyes!

Tears broke through the dam. The sheer despair of having my heart ripped out alive made my legs go weak, almost collapsing to the floor.

But following closely behind that despair was a scorching, blinding fury rising from the very marrow of my bones. All my grievances, my deep-seated inferiority, and my humble pleasing seemed so utterly ridiculous in this moment.

I forcefully wiped away my tears. My gaze fell on the aluminum baseball bat leaning against the wall-a precaution kept for stray Rogues. My fingers gripped the cold metal handle tightly. The weakness and trembling were completely drained from my body, replaced by an icy clarity.

BANG!

I kicked the door open. The heavy wooden panel slammed violently against the wall, echoing with a deafening roar like a gunshot.

Chapter 2

Fallon POV

They scrambled apart in panic like roaches caught in the light. Dan practically fell backward, desperately grabbing the messy sheets to cover his lower half. The blood drained from his face, his eyes wide open, filled with pure, unadulterated terror.

Laura, however, was different. After her initial gasp of shock, she pulled a pillow over her chest. But as she looked at me, the panic in her eyes instantly vanished. She even deliberately let the pillow slip a few inches, flaunting the fresh, purplish hickeys scattering across her collarbone.

"Oh, Fallon, why are you home so early today?" Laura pouted, her tone carrying undisguised provocation. "Since you've seen it all, I won't hide it from you anymore. Don't blame Dan. You don't even have a heat cycle; how could you possibly keep a full-blooded Warrior satisfied? You should be thanking me for fulfilling the duties you can't."

I stood there, gripping the bat tightly, staring at them with a cold, chillingly detached demeanor.

"Fallon!" Dan squeezed out the words with difficulty, his voice hoarse. He stumbled forward, clutching the sheet. "Fallon, baby, wait! It's not what it looks like! I was drunk... I'm an Alpha Warrior, I needed a release! It was a mistake. But don't worry, I'll still marry you in the end. Just stop making a scene, okay?"

Not only did he cheat, but he was also trying to gaslight me with that condescending tone? It was pathetic to the extreme.

I took a deliberate step back and raised the bat, pointing the metal tip straight at his chest. "Don't call me baby," I said, my voice surprisingly steady, without a single tremor. "And don't insult my intelligence. It's impossible for you to be drunk on a Tuesday afternoon. Besides, who gives a damn about your charity of a marriage?"

Realizing his usual charm had failed, a desperate and ugly panic ignited in Dan's heart. He whipped his head toward Laura, pointing an accusing finger at her. "It was her! She threw herself at me, Fallon! While you were at work, she seduced me with her Omega pheromones! I couldn't control my inner wolf!"

Laura's smirk vanished, her face twisting with pure fury. She simply threw the pillow aside. "Seduced you?!" Laura shrieked, her voice grating to the ears. "You spineless coward! For the past three months, you've been crawling into my bed! You were the one who told me you were going to dump this wolfless freak before the wedding!"

"Shut up, Laura!" Dan roared, his face flushing a dark, ugly red.

He turned back to me, reaching out his hand. "Fallon, please, she's lying-"

"Enough." My voice wasn't loud, but it sliced through the noise in the room like a scythe.

I stepped forward and pressed the cold, hard end of the baseball bat fiercely against the center of Dan's bare chest, forcing him to back up until his knees hit the mattress.

"I heard everything outside the door, Dan. Every single word," I lowered my voice, whispering like the Grim Reaper, watching the last trace of color completely drain from his face. "Whether she seduced you or you crawled to her, the result is exactly the same."

I reached into my pocket, pulled out the cheap silver engagement ring he had given me, and threw it hard at his face. The ring bounced off his cheek and rolled across the floor.

"You were right about one thing. I really don't have an inner wolf," I sneered, my gaze sweeping over their naked, pathetic bodies with absolute disgust. "But at least I'm not a hypocritical beast who lives off a woman and shits in the very bowl he eats from. I paid the down payment for this house. I bought the armor you wear. You two pieces of trash are a match made in heaven."

I didn't wait for his response. I lowered the bat, turned my back on this contaminated room, and strode out.

"Fallon, wait! You can't just leave! This is my house too!" Dan bellowed from the stairs as I grabbed my small, pre-packed suitcase and my heavy work briefcase from the foyer.

I didn't look back. I opened the front door and stepped out into the cool night breeze.

The moment I stepped outside, the pain in my chest felt like a living black hole, threatening to swallow me whole. Standing on the empty street, I suddenly felt a pathetic wave of suffocation.

I had spent all my savings on that house and that scumbag; my bank account balance wasn't even enough to afford a safe hotel for one night. In a world crawling with dangerous Rogues, a wolfless Omega wandering the streets was tantamount to suicide.

I had no family, no friends. My world had just been burned to ashes.

I pulled out my phone, my fingers trembling. The only thing I had left was my job.

In this dog-eat-dog city, there was only one place where chaos was absolutely forbidden, possessing the strictest security. Only the territory of that ruthless tyrant was the one safe zone I had earned with my own blood and sweat, the only thing that hadn't been taken from me.

Cain Industries.

Chapter 3

Fallon POV

The headquarters was a silent beast in the night. The Pack Warrior guards in the lobby gave me confused looks as I dragged my small suitcase past them, but none dared to stop the Alpha CEO's executive secretary. I swiped my keycard and took the private elevator straight to the top floor.

When the heavy oak doors parted, I walked into Alpha Kane Cain's massive office.

For the past two years, this room had been my personal purgatory. As his secretary, I was accustomed to standing before that massive mahogany desk, trembling as he barked ruthless orders, fired executives without a second thought, and demanded eighty-hour work weeks. He was a tyrant who saw everyone as disposable tools.

The moment I crossed the threshold, his scent-a sharp, intoxicating blend of cedar and winter frost-wrapped around me. Usually, his lingering aura made my skin prickle with the instinctual fear of a wolfless Omega, a constant reminder of my absolute submission to my boss. But tonight, that terrifying dominance felt like a twisted sort of anesthetic. I needed something stronger than my pain, something that could completely overwrite the memory of Dan.

Dropping my bags by the door, I marched over to Kane's private bar. I didn't bother with a crystal glass. I grabbed a heavy bottle of his most expensive Scotch, popped the cork, and took a long, desperate pull straight from the neck.

The amber liquid burned like liquid fire down my throat, making me cough, but the searing heat was exactly what I needed to numb the freezing void inside my chest.

Suddenly, the private line on Kane's massive desk began to ring.

I stared at the blinking red light. The alcohol was already buzzing warmly in my veins, stripping away my usual cautious restraint. I picked up the receiver.

"Kane, darling?" a sickly-sweet, heavily perfumed voice purred through the speaker. "It's Krystal. You haven't returned my calls. I know you're working late again, but you can't ignore your mate forever..."

The sheer entitlement in her voice-the arrogant assumption that she could manipulate an Alpha just because she had an Omega's pheromones-snapped the last frayed thread of my sanity. She sounded exactly like Laura.

"He's not here," I said, my voice dripping with a venom I didn't know I possessed.

There was a sharp intake of breath on the other end. "Excuse me? Is this his little secretary? Know your place, Omega, and put the Alpha on the phone right now."

"Maybe he's busy finding someone who isn't a boring, manipulative leech," I snapped, throwing Dan's insults right back at her. "Don't call again."

I slammed the receiver down so hard the plastic cracked.

A twisted, sick sense of satisfaction flared in my chest, immediately followed by a wave of reckless adrenaline. I took another huge gulp of the Scotch, turning my back to the desk to stare out the floor-to-ceiling windows at the sprawling city.

I didn't hear the elevator. I didn't even hear the heavy doors open.

But suddenly, the air in the room was sucked away. The ambient scent of cedar and frost exploded into a suffocating blizzard of pure, dominant Alpha power.

I spun around, nearly dropping the bottle.

Kane stood in the doorway.

His broad chest was heaving slightly, his suit jacket discarded, and his tie loosened around his neck. His stormy gray eyes locked onto me with a terrifying intensity, tracking the tear stains on my pale cheeks and the half-empty bottle in my hand.

A wolfless Omega should have dropped to her knees under the sheer, crushing weight of his presence. But the whiskey and the heartbreak had made me fearless.

He crossed the massive room in three long, silent, predatory strides. Without a single word, his large, calloused hand wrapped around the neck of the bottle, prying it effortlessly from my trembling fingers. He set it on the desk with a heavy thud.

I tilted my head back to meet his furious gaze, my vision swimming slightly. The man who had squeezed every ounce of my energy for two years was standing right in front of me.

"You're a cold-blooded tyrant, Kane," I slurred, the suppressed agony of Dan's betrayal and years of workplace exhaustion tumbling out together before I could stop it. "Are you Alphas all the exact same? You work us to the bone in this office like we're disposable machines, and in relationships, you just use people and throw them away when you're bored! We're all just trash to you, aren't we?!"

I braced myself for his wrath, for the crushing weight of his Alpha Command to force me to the floor for my insubordination.

But the anger I expected never came.

Instead, his sharp jaw clenched so hard a muscle ticked beneath his skin. The terrifying storm in his gray eyes shifted. The fury melted away, replaced by a dark, primal possessiveness and a flicker of raw, undeniable ache as he stared down at my broken form.
