Xander Finnegan Archard, the Supreme Alpha of The Bloodmoon Keeper Pack of Jasandeen City, looked at the woman in front of him with a confused look.

It was only a moment, then his orbs which were pitch black in color, turned slowly to a golden color.

Valerie Quinn Rayner, the she-wolf Alpha of The White Crescent Pack, one of the smaller packs of Jasandeen City which is under the protection of the Supreme Alpha, is fascinated by the changing eye color of the handsome man in front of her.

She sniffed the air and her desire that had been running wild since she entered Jasandeen Blue's apartment, grew crazier when the scent of hazelnut, plum, and pine enveloped her and made her even more impatient to immediately sink herself into the arms of the man with golden eyes.

Why was that man just staring at her without doing anything. Is she unattractive or is he a gay man who doesn't like women?

Valerie's request was so clear and it was shown by her not only through speech, but also flirtatiousness and strong scent that emanated from every pore in her body.

Xander slightly bent his body, so that his eyes were level with Valerie's, because the woman was quite petite, not even the top of her head reached Xander's shoulder.

"Are you sure, sweetie?" asked Xander in his sexy husky voice.

"Alpha Xander," said Oscar Kane, the beta of Xander, preventing Xander from going any further.

Xander shook his head and with a chin, told Oscar to step aside. "I know what I'm doing, Oscar. This woman is my mate" Xander says. "Go and tell Madam Irene to prepare to welcome the new Luna of our pack."

"But, Alpha--"

"Go!"

Oscar sighed and withdrew after bowing halfway in salute. Xander took Valerie through a special elevator at the back of the lobby of the Jasandeen Blue apartment, straight to his apartment which was on the top floor, the 20th floor.

Xander put Valerie down as soon as the apartment door opened, but Valerie wrapped her arms around his neck very tightly and clung like a leech to his body.

"Come on, hurry up, handsome. I feel hot," Valerie said half sulking.

Xander smiled and led Valerie into the bedroom. Valerie is out of control. She grabbed Xander's neck and kissed his chin. Xander cupped Valerie's face and planted a kiss on her tiny lips, taking in a strange sweetness from there.

Xander can smell strong alcohol, Hawaiian Baby Woodrose and Nutmeg from Valerie's mouth. Someone had tried to get Valerie very drunk with a drink containing these ingredients. He will order his beta to investigate about it later.

In that hot kiss, Finn and Laya, the wolf inside Xander and Valerie, sniffed each other and hooked their tails.

Xander went into the bathroom and took a clean towel and kimono for Valerie, then took warm water in the sink, lavender aromatherapy and a small towel.

He returned to the room and cleaned Valerie's body carefully and gently. The tattoo he made above Valerie's navel faded slowly, sinking into her smooth skin.

After cleaning up Valerie, Xander cleaned himself up and lay down next to Valerie, drifting off to dreamland.

Valerie woke up to the sound of the soft snore from the man lying beside her. The pain in her centre body reminded her of what happened, and she became scared.

The man next to him was sleeping on his stomach, revealing a honey-colored, broad, and muscular back. She shook her head, trying to remember the man's face.

Valerie couldn't forget his pleasant scent, which penetrated right into her senses and merged with her own. However, she could only remember that the man was very handsome and had strangely colored eyes, without remembering the details.

Slowly, Valerie got out of bed and took off her kimono to change into her own clothes which were neatly folded on the chair. She bit her lower lip against the strange pain around her navel, which then quickly disappeared again.

Three hours later, Xander woke up and felt the bed next to him.

No one there.

Jasandeen City Airport, eight years later.

"Valerie! Hey, Valerie! Over here!"

A plump woman, with large eyes, rosy cheeks and short hair, was jumping up and down in place waving her arms excitedly.

Ashley Viera, without shame, broke through the crowd of pickers who were waiting for the passengers of the newly arrived FlyHigh Air plane. She was standing in the front row and was already screaming even when Valerie and a boy at her side were still waiting for their luggage.

"Mom, is that Auntie Ashley?" asked Felix Joshua Rayner, Valerie's seven-year-old son.

Valerie chuckled and waved at Ashley. "Yes. He's that much of a crowd," Valerie answered, picking up her suitcase.

She took Felix's hand and led him towards the exit. The child carried his own suitcase and slung the knapsack over his shoulder.

Felix was only seven years old, but one could mistake him for being nine or ten because he was taller than the average boy for his age.

Ashley ran to hug Valerie as soon as her best friend passed through the exit.

"Oh Valerie!" cried Ashley half crying "Bad girl, you just contacted me after eight years of disappearance, only to ask me to pick up at the airport and find an apartment? You're crazy!" Ashley spat out angrily while pinching Valerie's waist.

Felix stayed silent beside his mother, watching the excitement in front of him. Valerie hugged Ashley tightly and rubbed her back. The two women ended up crying while hugging each other.

Felix cleared his throat, feeling uncomfortable when noticed many eyes watching them. "Mom, how about we stop by a restaurant first? I'm hungry," Felix said while tugging at the hem of Valerie's shirt.

Ashley let go of her hug on Valerie and stared at Felix with perfectly wide eyes.

"Ah, I forgot to introduce you guys," Valerie said. She grabbed Felix's shoulder gently. "Ashley, this is my son Felix Joshua Rayner, and Felix, this is my best friend since kindergarten, Ashley Viera."

Felix bowed half politely and reached out to shake Ashley's, but his mother's best friend didn't think a handshake was enough and pulled Felix into her arms.

"Oh my God Valerie you are so lucky. Look how handsome and cool he is. Are you seven years old?" she asked.

"Yes, auntie."

"But you could pass for ten. You're tall and very handsome."

Felix smiled sweetly. "Thank you Auntie."

Ashley hugged Felix one more time, then took Valerie's hand. "Let's have lunch first. There's a restaurant that does a very good lunch behind this airport."

Valerie drove to the restaurant he mentioned and they ordered lunch. "Valerie, what are your plans now?" asked Ashley as she cut the steak on the plate. "You're going straight to work?"

"I still have to meet with the agent who will represent me here first, tomorrow," Valerie answered. "After that it all depends on the outcome of tomorrow's meeting."

Ashley nodded. She cupped Felix's hand on the table. "And you young man, I will take you to your new school tomorrow and if you want to take a certain course I will show you around."

Felix nodded happily. He has been living alone with his mother for a long time. Getting to know the bubbly Ashley is sure to be fun and bring a new vibe.

"Thank you Ashley, for some time to come, I will be counting on you," Valerie said gratefully.

After finishing their meal, Ashley took Valerie and Felix to the apartment she had rented for them at Valerie's earlier request. "This is the nicest apartment complex in the neighborhood," says Ashley. "My unit is on the fourth floor and you guys will be occupying the unit on the sixth floor."

Valerie felt satisfied after looking around the apartment that would be her and Felix's place to live. The apartment wasn't luxurious, but it was more spacious than his old apartment. There are two bedrooms, one bathroom inside the master bedroom and one smaller bathroom outside. The open kitchen blends directly with the dining room and living room, as well as a balcony bounded by glass doors, overlooking the city park.

Valerie was checking the kitchen, when Ashley's phone suddenly rang.

"Hello, Mrs. Prim?" said Ashley to the person who contacted her. "Yes, she's here. Now? Oh well, I'll take her there now."

Valerie raised an eyebrow, looking at Ashley with a question in her eyes.

"Val, I was asked to take you downstairs. The building manager has prepared a rental agreement document that you must sign," said Ashley.

"Ah, okay. I also want the administrative matters to be finished soon so that we can calm down," said Valerie. She turned to Felix who had just left the room he was going to occupy. "Honey, Mommy has to meet the landlord to sort out the lease administration. Do you want to come?"

Felix shook his head as he reached for his suitcase. "No, Mom, you go. I'm going to pack up my stuff first."

Ashley accompanied Valerie to see Mrs. Prim, the building manager. The middle-aged woman was very friendly and kind. After finishing paperwork, Ashley invited Valerie to stop by the coffee shop across from the apartment.

"Tell me, Valerie, what happened to you all this time? Why did you suddenly disappear? You never even contacted me at all," said Ashley in an annoyed tone, after they sat down in one of the spots in the coffee shop.

"I want to tell you about my leave, Ashley, but I think it will definitely be a burden for you when you know where I am but you can't tell anyone because I will definitely forbid you. Unlike the case, if you really don't know," said Valerie in a serious tone.

"Yes, you're right. However, still, you make me worried and confused. After that night, everyone became excited, especially when you disappeared like the wind. Where exactly are you?"

"Thailand."

"W-what? Thailand?"

Valerie nodded slowly. "That country was the only thing that came to my mind at the time."

Ashley's eyes filled with tears and she took Valerie's hand on the table. "In the last eight years, I've been to Thailand four times for work. If I only knew you were there!"

Valerie squeezed Ashley's hand. "I'm sorry, Ash, circumstances forced me to do everything."

"What about Felix? I almost had a heart attack when you said you were coming back with a child. Your own child."

"Yes. I met this man, Felix's father, at a hotel the night after the messed up party. I was very drunk and we had a one night stand in short. However, I was too frantic, scared, and also angry at the time, so I just left the hotel after waking up. Two months later, I realized I was pregnant."

"You never found out who that guy was?"

Valerie shook her head. "No. I just remembered that he had a strange eye color, but other than that, I completely forgot."

Ashley sighed. She patted Valerie's hand gently. "Be patient. Who knows you might meet him one day."

After their coffee order was finished, Ashley and Valerie returned to the apartment.

They stood in front of the elevator and entered the first elevator that opened. The elevator is empty.

Valerie stood in front of Ashley and pressed the button to close the elevator door. Two seconds before the elevator doors closed completely, Valerie nearly fell, when a scent that she had never forgotten for the past eight years and always made her paralyzed when her heat cycle came, hitting her nose and a sudden pain shot through her navel.

Ashley was very surprised and held Valerie who was bent over in pain. "Valerie! What's wrong?" asked Ashley panicked.

Valerie pressed her stomach and looked up, looking at Ashley blankly.

[MATE!]-exclaimed Laya.

[That's her!]-Finn exclaimed enthusiastically. [You feel it too?]

Xander freezes in place. It's the same scent as eight years ago.

[She's here, Alpha.]-said Finn nervously. [She's back.]

Xander looks around the empty apartment lobby. He sniffed the air and felt the scent getting farther and thinner. Without thinking much, Xander rushed to the reception counter and pressed the bell on the table.

A loud tinkling echoed through the lobby and a few minutes later Mrs. Prim staggers out of her office which is behind the receptionist. She was surprised when he saw Xander and quickly bowed half body to salute.

"Alpha Xander, what can I do for you?" said Mrs. Prim.

"Mrs. Prim, I told you not to call me that," Xander hissed.

"Ah, I'm sorry, Al-- oh, sorry, Mr. Xander," said Mrs. Prim quickly. "I always forget."

"Mrs. Prim, I want to see the CCTV footage of this lobby a few minutes ago," Xander said.

He looked around. The scent was completely gone now and Finn had regained his composure.

Mrs. Prim looks nervous. "Ah, I'm sorry Mr. Xander. The CCTV cameras have been out of order the past few days, after a small earthquake last week."

Xander's brow furrowed. "Why not fix it immediately? Have you reported it to Mr. Farland?"

"I reported it two days ago, but haven't received a response."

"Ah, that was my fault. I sent Mr. Farland on something in India three days ago. Never mind, I'll tell Mr. Hardy about this tomorrow."

Xander continues to walk towards the special elevator, but then turns around again. "Mrs. Prim, have there been any new people recently? A woman?"

Mrs. Prim nods quickly. "Yes, Mr. Xander. There is a woman in unit 12 on the third floor and her father is in a wheelchair, they just came in three days ago. Yesterday there were also two middle-aged women, a sibling, and this afternoon a woman with a a boy. Her son, I thik."

[No one is suitable.]-snorts Finn in annoyance.

[Be patient, Finn. We'll find her soon.]

[You've been saying that for the past eight years, Alpha.]

Xander said nothing. Finn had always been such an annoyance when it came to his missing mate, as if only he had endured the heartbreak and loneliness all along.

Xander had just put his car keys on the dining table, when his phone rang. He grabbed the flat object and stared at the screen. He took a deep breath before accepting the call.

"Yes, Father?" said Xander in a flat tone.

"Xander, have you checked your email?" asked Dash Archard, Xander's father.

"No. I just arrived at the apartment. What's wrong?"

"Why are you at the apartment?" asked Dash in a sharp tone. "You never came home and that made your grandmother furious."

"Never mind, Father, don't talk about that anymore. Just tell me, what other events do I have to attend?"

"Tomorrow morning, the selection of Miss Diamond's candidate for our corporate representation to the world diamond show in the United States next month."

"That's not my job. Carlos will take care of it. Diamonds are absolutely not my thing."

"I know, but that's not what you came to the event for. The selection will be taken care of by Carlos, but at least you can take a look at the beautiful and classy ladies gathered there and if something fits you can pick it up and bring it to your grandmother."

Xander took a deep breath, trying to quell the feeling of annoyance welling up in his chest.

"No. Don't talk about that anymore, Father," Xander said in a low voice. "You know I can't do it."

Dash snorted. "It's not that you can't, it's that you don't want to."

"This is what keeps me from coming home. You and Grandma never stop bothering me about it, even though you all know my situation. I have said so many times that I marked my mate!"

Dash laughed sarcastically. "Come on, Son, where is she then? It's been eight years since you first said something like that, but you never brought her before us. Your age will soon reach the peak and the coronation cannot be delayed any longer or chaos will ensue. You know that too. So, come to the event I mentioned earlier, tomorrow morning and try to get your Luna there!"

Xander stared blankly at his darkening phone screen after his father ended the call. He sat down languidly on the sofa and reflected again on what he had experienced eight years ago.

-Flashback-

"I've found her, the woman who will become my Luna," Xander said.

Dash looked up, averting his eyes from the book she was reading. "You found her? It's so fast, Son. Who is she? How did you two meet? Did you mark her?"

Xander's face turned somber. "I marked her, but she... left."

"What do you mean left? Did she reject you? Who is she? From what pack? How could she refuse a Bloodmoon Keeper Alpha?" squealed Dash angrily.

Xander was getting weaker and he sat down on the sofa and closed his eyes. "I... don't know who she is. I just had sex with her and Finn mated with his she-wolf. When I was done, I marked her and fell asleep. When I woke up, she was gone. Dissapeared. Like ... Puff... "

Dash stared at her only son in disbelief. "Oh Xander!"

[Are you coming?]-asked Finn.

[Do I have a choice?]-Xander asked back.

[Of course. You always have a choice, as long as you're willing to take anything other than what your father ordered.]

[You know, Finn, it's not just my father that's the problem.]

Finn whined under his breath-[I know. But, I guess we got a good sign, because I can feel that she's near.]

[I'll find out. Now, I'd better take care of this and such miss selection event.]

Finn laughs softly and disappears. Xander took his phone and called someone.

"I'm in the apartment, come over now or I'll tell your dad about that blonde model you slept with yesterday!"

"Damn you, Alpha!"

Xander smirked and hang up the phone.
