Chapter 1 Meeting The Alpha

Ana's Point of View

"No I won't, and please don't push it. I seriously can't believe these people," I said, with disgust on my face.

"Oh come on Ana, we are not asking you to do anything out of the ordinary."

"Ordinary dad? So you're saying that it is normal for you to push me to make friends with a creepy stalker."

"Creepy stalker! Why would you even call him that? He looks harmless to me," Mom interrupted.

"Mum, please don't say that. You don't even know him." I can't believe my parents are the ones saying this after everything we have been through.

"Look guys, let's calm down, I know you still remember what happened to Leo. I can't just go about hanging out with a stranger who is so creepy. Think about it guys, there is something weird about that guy!"

"Hey, stop cooking up excuses, he seems like a decent guy to me. Just get to know him. It is for your good."

"Martha, tell your daughter she has to get to know that guy," Father said, as he stormed out.

What is really special about this guy? Why is it really important that my parents go to Amok?

"Mom, please listen to me."

"No, you listen to us. Why are you so paranoid? The guy likes you, end of story. Just give him a chance."

"Are you trying to be funny, mum?"

"Look at me, do I look likable or even alluring in any way? I have seen him five times now, and there was never a time he attempted talking to me, and you say he likes me?"

"No Mum, I beg to differ, that is not a way to show a girl you like her and I know for a fact that I am not attractive in any way, so don't patronise me."

"If both of you don't tell me the actual reason you want me with this guy, then I'm sorry, but this conversation is over." I slammed, feeling my head spinning.

I heard my mum squealing my name as I sprinted to the room, but I didn't stop, I couldn't stand them anymore. I didn't even know I was crying until I felt my wet chin.

How can a man be attracted to this? I looked at myself in the mirror, with my bloodshot eyes and wet cheeks, so drab and unattractive.

"Likes me indeed. Try another line, mum."

After lying in bed for a while thinking about everything that has happened so far, I decided to give my best friend, "Monica," a call.

She picked up after the 4th ring.

"Hey girl, How are you doing?" Nika asked, With her energetic voice.

"I am not fine Nika, My parents are driving me crazy.

"How so?"

"They have been constantly on my case, and desperately pushing me to make friends with a guy I just met," I explained, to the one person who understands me.

"Wow! A guy, huh? Give me all the details now will you?"

"Oh stop it, it's nothing exciting. Anyway, he came to the coffee shop five days ago, so I went to take his order, only for him to just stare. He didn't even say a word to me, Nika.

"Since then, he has kept showing up every day, staring at me and saying nothing. To make matters worse, he followed me home today without my knowledge. That was when my parents saw him."

"But the way they are insisting I get to know him begs the question. It makes me feel as if they knew him before, and they have something to hide."

"Personally, I feel like he's a creepy stalker."

"Why is he acting weird? If he likes you, then he should go ahead and say it, and stop acting childish."

"But on a serious note, apart from his creepy nature, do you like him? What does he look like? She asked As I heard her chuckle.

"Nothing you say should surprise me anymore. So you seriously want to know what he looks like, even when I say he's creepy?

"But of course, I love sweet gossip," she laughed.

"Whatever. Anyway, he is so damn handsome. He has blue eyes with a hint of silver in them."

"With long blonde hair, perfect white teeth, a pointed nose, great biceps and the perfect height. If you take away the creepiness from him, he is perfect."

"With all his attributes, I think we can overlook his weirdness."

"You're crazy, Nika," I said smiling.

"I think maybe you should talk to him the next time you see him if he can't talk to you.

"Are you trying to have a laugh? Because it's working, you are outrageous. Do I look like someone who can talk to a guy?"

"You are right, but I also think you can learn. You used to be more fun and more endearing before now."

"Whatever girl, I need to go to bed and I think you should too."

"Fine, take care, Love you!"

"Love you too," I said as I hung up.

She is quite right, I used to be more fun. But I feel bad having fun without my brother.

I can't get the sight of his brutalized dead body out of my head, he didn't deserve that.

I slept off with my brother's thoughts in my head as usual, and I woke up with a banging headache.

I hesitantly dragged myself out of bed and took a shower. A good shower always does the trick.

After my shower, I rummaged through my wardrobe for something to wear. All my brother's clothes don't smell like him anymore, but I wear them regardless.

After dressing up and putting my hair in a messy bun, I decided to sneak out of the house, because I didn't want another debate with my parents.

"Are you sneaking out, Ana?" I heard my mum say from somewhere around the kitchen.

"Of course not, mum. I didn't know you were up, and I didn't want to disturb any of you," I lied blatantly, but they gave me no choice.

"If you say so, won't you have breakfast?" She smiled sweetly at me whilst asking as though yesterday never happened.

"No mum, I am fine. I will have something at the coffee shop. I am late already."

"Okay then, have a nice day." She said and gave me a kiss on my forehead. She is acting very strangely. I am just glad she didn't bring up last night's conversation.

The shop is packed and swamped as usual, we're just two of us here attending to the customers.

Tommy and I are not the best of friends. However, we have a great working relationship.

I could be the reason we are not great friends. Making friends is not my strong suit. I don't even think I have any strong suit.

The morning rush has finally piped down, and I finally have time to catch my breath.

The shop is hollow at this point, with just two clients scattered around having coffee and minding their business.

With no clients to serve, I now have time to check my phone, seeing that I am already getting bored.

I was laughing out loud at a hilarious video I was watching when I heard the bell at the front door jingle.

Cheering up to see who had just entered, I was met with piercing blue eyes staring at me, making me shy and nervous.

He walked towards me like a predator that carries so much poise. I couldn't look away, he was just so captivating.

"Come sit with me," he said.

Chapter 2 Episode 2: Putting Me On Suspense

Ana's Point of View

Come and sit with me? Is that seriously the first thing he will say to me?

No way will that happen. I am working for goodness' sake.

"That wasn't a question." He said and walked away without waiting for a response. It was almost like he knew I was about to turn him down.

I was dumbfounded as I watched him walk to the far end of the shop and sit at a booth that seemed way too small to accommodate his body size.

When he finally got somewhat comfortable, he turned towards me and started staring at me as always.

I turned towards Tommy, and he nodded to me that I could go.

I almost missed my step with how much he was watching my every move. I felt so nervous and nude.

"Did you just take permission from that boy before you could come and sit with me?"

The way he questioned me and stared at me made me want to shrink and hide myself away for all eternity.

"No, I just wanted him to cover for me, I wasn't asking for his permission."

"Good" he said, like he was truly pleased to hear that, and somehow I found myself not wanting to be obnoxious or even exasperate him.

"What is your name?" He asked, after an excruciating, deafening silence.

"Ana, Ana Reign," I answered nervously.

"Okay Ana, my name is Red". It was almost like I saw a silver lining dancing around his blue eyes when he said my name, or perhaps I was imagining things.

"Do you have a boyfriend, Ana?" He inquired out of the blue and I think I saw the silver lining dancing again.

"No, I don't have a boyfriend," I said immediately. He smiled and showed off his perfect white teeth whilst handing me his phone.

"Let me have your number." I collected his phone, typed my number and handed the phone back, then he stood up towering over me.

"I am sorry, but I have to leave now. I will see you soon." He was about to leave when he stopped and said!

"Oh Ana, you are not allowed to have a boyfriend." With that, he turned and left the shop without sparing me another glance.

I was still seated there with my mouth hanging open in shock at what he said.

"I am not allowed to have a boyfriend," are you kidding me? I thought as I sighed and went back to serve the guest that had just arrived.

The rest of the day was pretty uneventful and the shop was utterly hollow.

I was getting ready to leave when the bell jingled and my best friend walked in.

After what happened, I forgot we had plans to spend the rest of the evening together. It was our Wednesday night ritual.

"Hey girl, how are you?" She asked cheerfully. She's always been a bubbly person.

"I am fine, how are you?" I asked, faking a smile.

"No, you're not, but don't worry you are going to tell me all about it over ice cream."

That kind of cheered me up a little bit. I love ice cream. I packed up, and we finally stepped out into the cold air.

"Delmock" is a serene city, so people relish hanging out at night.

There are so many people outside right now walking and others driving, it's just a really beautiful evening.

Monica and I walked quietly holding hands to our favorite ice cream shop.

I ordered my favorite Rocky Road ice cream whilst she ordered her butter pecan ice cream.

"Now that we are having our ice cream can you tell me why you have that crestfallen look on your face?"

"What happened today?" She inquired whilst we were taking a stroll.

"The most unclear thing happened today," I said, before taking a spoon of my Rocky Road ice cream.

"Red showed up today."

"Red? That's a quaint name, don't you think? By the way, who is Red?"

"My creepy stalker, he spoke to me today." She stopped and smiled at me before asking!

"Give me all the details, honey, now!

We finally got to the park and sat on one of the benches.

"Well, he asked me to sit with him in one of the booths, then he asked for my name, asked if I had a boyfriend, and when I said no, he took my number."

I explained in a breath and went back to eating my ice cream.

"I don't see anything wrong in all he said or why exactly you're upset," she pointed out.

"Oh yeah, well when he was about to leave, he turned to me and said, in his words;

"Oh Ana, you are not allowed to have a boyfriend."

"How is that? For some reason I am upset," I said breathlessly before finishing up my ice cream.

When I looked up at Nika, she was staring back at me with wide eyes.

"That is a quirky thing to say, or perhaps he likes you so much, and he is just trying to mark space."

She said, while laughing at her own words, and before I could stop myself I was laughing too.

After our little chat at the park, we went back to my place to finish off the night with late-night movies and pizza.

Since Monica was around, my parents didn't hassle me, we were having a truckload of fun watching movies and eating pizza until she said;

"Since you have an admirer now, I think you should change the way you dress and wear a little make-up."

"What? Are you crazy? You know I love the way I dress, and you know why". I reckoned with a stern face.

"I know why, but it doesn't smell like him anymore, so what's the point? You seriously need to consider changing your style."

"You have a beautiful body that no one can see because you are always heavily clouded and hiding it in all these oversized drab outfits."I looked at her with a sad face and tears running down my cheeks.

"Hey don't cry, I am not trying to make you sad, you know you are beautiful regardless. I just think it will help with your poise, but it's totally fine. You can keep wearing it for now," she said whilst wiping my face.

"I know you are right, it's just so difficult to move on, you know, I can't envisage myself in anything else other than his clothes."

"It's okay, forget I said anything. I am certain you will make the right decision when the time comes."

With that, we continued watching our movie, but it wasn't long before we both slept off.

Nika left immediately after having breakfast with my family. I was about to clear the table when Dad say:

"I hope you have considered what we discussed, and you are ready to do what we want."

"I have no inkling why you guys are hell-bent on Red's problem, but it's fine, I will make friends with him," I said whilst dumping dishes in the sink.

"Red, is that his name?" He inquired curiously.

"Yes, that is his name," I replied before dashing up to my room to avoid them asking me more questions.

But not before hearing them whisper about something as I climbed the stairs.

I plopped on the bed and immediately checked my phone for missed calls or text messages from Red, but I got nothing.

"Why get my number if you don't use it?" I grumbled.

I decided to check the internet. Perhaps I would see him on and off social media, but I have got nothing still. That's so unclear.

"Red is an eccentric guy," I said out loud.

Chapter 3 Episode 3: The Unknown

Red's Point of View

Shadow Storm Pack In The Deep Forest, Somewhere In The Outskirts Of Delmock.

"The pack is awfully quiet. Did something happen when I was aloof?" I asked as I walked towards my place with my best friend, who is also my Beta, walking close to me.

"No Red, everything is fine, you, on the other hand, don't look fine, plus you have been going out a lot more these days."

Anderson is my best friend, and he knows me very well, and, as always, he is not wrong with his observations.

"You are right, Anderson, I am not fine, damn it" I finally replied as I took a seat.

"You won't believe who I found Anderson. I still can't believe it myself."

"Who! Come on, tell me already. You are making me neurotic," he said eagerly. I would have laughed at how neurotic I made him, but not today.

"I found my mate."

"What the hell did you just say? You what?" He inquired, sounding astonished.

"My mate," I reiterated, more to myself than to him.

"If you find her, shouldn't you be over the moon in lieu?"

"Well, I would have. But she is a human."

"Oh damn! That's crazy bro," he said in between laughs.

"Shut it down, Anderson, it's not funny. This is very serious, I am dazzled and perplexed," I said whilst pacing in my room.

"Calm down bro, give it time, and I am certain you will figure it out."

I guess he is right, but now I need to focus on how to catch whatever it is that has been killing the pack members.

"So, any news about the killers yet? I still think it is not an animal but a person."

"You keep saying that but all the evidence points at rogues. Although, the Alpha of Ghostcoast is calling for a meeting tomorrow. He says he has pieces of information about the killer."

"I hope Alpha Mike has something concrete to say because I know this has nothing to do with rogues," I said.

"For fuck sake, Anderson, the Rogues are not bold enough to pull this off without getting caught."

"So you are insisting it is the werewolf hunters, yet we haven't set our eyes on any in over a decade," he said. he is right, it's been over a decade since I heard of one.

"I guess they are back, and they might just have a motive for this. Anyway, assign one of the pack members to watch over My Mate whilst we are away and also ask two more members to come with us to the meeting first thing tomorrow morning."

"Okay, but where is your mate though?"

"Well, she works at my newest coffee shop," I said with a mischievous smile.

"Oh wow, how convenient," he said, trying to leave.

"Anderson, you need to talk to your sister about me. Let her know I have found my Mate, but don't let her know she's human."

"Oh hell no, you are putting me in a tight spot, bro, Knox is going to be livid and unruly. You know how much she likes you."

"Yes I know, which is exactly why you have to be the one to tell her, because you know I have already made it very clear to her that nothing will happen between us," I said, laughing at his grimace.

"Whatever man, I will tell her. I need to go and prepare everything for tomorrow, so have a good night," he said with a crestfallen look.

Anderson can be such a big old softy sometimes. I hope he finds his mate soon.

He has been searching for quite a while now and even when I wasn't looking, I found mine.

I pray he finds her soon. He is such a good guy and a good friend.

I need to go to my mother's cabin to tell her about my mate before going to bed.

"Mother, where are you?" I called out the moment I stepped into the cabin.

"Hey brother, she's in the room. Where have you been? Knox and I came to your cabin to look for you earlier today," Lilian said.

"Damn it, Lilian, how many times exactly do I need to tell you that Knox will not be my Luna?"

"I know she's your friend, and she's my best friend's sister, but guess what, she's not my mate, so she can never be my Luna," I said while going to the room in search of Mother.

"Brother, wait, I know she's not your mate, but I like her, can't you just make her your chosen mate since you haven't found your mate? She likes you, she does."

"Mother good evening, can you just tell Lilian that she can't coerce me into being with her friend."

"I am the Alpha, and when I am ready I will show you all my Luna, but it definitely won't be Knox."

"Calm down son, I know she's not your mate, but you are not even looking for her. Don't you want to have a Luna?" She said whilst going to the kitchen with Lilian, and I followed suit.

"Yes Mother, you are right. I haven't been searching for her, but that didn't deter me from finding her." I pointed out, making everyone stop and stare at me with wide eyes.

"Are you saying you found your Mate?" Mother asked, sounding astonished.

"Yes, that's exactly what I am saying, her name is Ana," I said proudly.

"What? When did you find her? Lilian asked.

"I found her a week ago. Don't bother asking any questions. I will not be giving you any more information for you to feed your friend with," I said assertively.

"Anyway, Mother, I am having a pack meeting tomorrow morning at Ghostcoast, so I will be leaving early with Anderson and two other people."

I went straight to bed after having dinner at my mother's cabin. She was elated with the news, excluding Lilian, though for obvious reasons.

I am just a little flustered about how I should tell her that I am a werewolf and that she's my mate. It won't be easy, that's for sure.

The next morning came faster than anticipated. It was almost as though I didn't sleep a wink last night, ruminating about having my mate and how to convince her.

Anyway, that aside. When I finished preparing and stepped outside, Anderson was already outside waiting with Gabriel and Philip.

"Oh man, did you get any sleep?" Anderson joked when he noticed me.

"I wish I did. Is everything set?" I asked as I moved around the pack.

"Yes we are good to go," he said as we headed out towards the cars.

"What about Ana? Did you send someone over to her as I instructed," I asked, as he stepped into the car beside me.

"Yes, I sent Michael over. Everything is in order," he said politely.

Turns out the meeting is in the city, in one of the hotels and not at the Ghostcoast park, hence the cars.

"Welcome Alpha Red, Alpha Mike greeted." Within five minutes, all the others arrived, and we were all seated.

"We have all experienced the incessant killings of our pack members. It's no longer a surprise that we have a target on our backs," Alpha Mike said in his opening speech.

"Anyway, Alpha Red has always been in a strong opinion that these attacks are being carried out by humans," Alpha Mike continued while the other Alphas mumbled.

"Look, I don't know why Alpha Red thinks so, but it is very obvious this is the work of rogues," Alpha Luca from Midnight Crescent interjected.

"I second that," Alpha Fred from Night Stone and Alpha Brandon from Darkshine echoed.

"Well, I used to think so too until recently, when they tried to kill some of my pack members and, luckily for me, two of them were able to get away, but not unscathed," Alpha Mike continued, and that statement piqued my interest.

"So what are you saying, Alpha Mike?"

"I am saying you have been right all along, it's the humans. Werewolf hunters." Mumbles echoed on all sides of the room at his statement.

"Yes, my pack members that survived confirmed that it was a man in his early fifties, he had way too many silver weapons."

"He was so keen and desperate to kill, they said he wore something on his feet." Alpha Mike finished his narration.

He wore something on his feet that had to be a "human-to-wolf footprint", I mumbled to myself.

"Did you say something, Alpha Red?" Alpha Brandon of the Darkshine pack asked the rest of the Alphas to direct their attention to me.
