Genre: Romance
I thought I was free from the grips of Frederick, the man who caused me so much pain, but little did I know he would come knocking on my door the next moment. "You can't escape from Liliana, so stop running and come to me," he muttered boastfully. "And why would I do that?" I retorted with a frown etched across my face, and a rueful smile graced his handsome face. Walking towards me, he cornered me, caging me between the wall and his strong body. "Because I know you want me. Your heart, your soul, and most, especially this body of yours... I can feel the heat radiating from you every time I stand close to you, with my hand around your waist," he whispered, his husky voice sounded like music to my ears. His hand slowly slid up from my hip to my waist, and he squeezed the skin of it gently, but enough to send a shiver down my spine. Leaning down, he murmured close to my ear. "You want me, just as much as I want you," he said confidently. I almost spat blood hearing his bold words. What exactly did I get myself into?

Chapter 1 A Second Chance

"What the hell do you want?" I said with a harsh tone that made the man in front of me freeze instantly.

"Lily," he started, but didn't get to finish whatever he intended to say before I cut in.

"Don't you dare call me that!" I said immediately, a clear warning could be heard in my tone as I gave him a deadly glare.

"I don't want to do this. You know what I want, you know why I'm here," his voice was masculine yet soothing at the same time, and it felt like a caress on my skin but hell with that because I'd rather be the last to enjoy the luxury, not after what happened.

"Oh really? Well, then I must've forgotten, so why don't you do the honor by reminding me." I said, trying to calm my raging heart.

"I know I am the last person you'd want here right now but Lilian if you'll just please listen-"

"And then what? You'd like to defend yourself? Look, I'm not ready for your twisted and sick games so just go back to your fiancé." I snapped as I cut him off.

"That was totally not my doing. I didn't give her the ring she's putting on. My mum is the one forcing this and not me. I just want you back," he said desperately.

"Wow! That sounded so believable, and I wonder how many people would actually believe that crap. Frederick, so you're literally saying that everything that happened 5 years ago was your mother's doing? All the pain you caused me and as if that weren't enough, you almost got me locked behind bars for a crime I never committed even though I begged you desperately to listen to me. Did you listen to me then? So, tell me, why should I listen to you? In fact, what gives you the right to request that from me?"

He was suddenly quiet, which greatly surprised me. Was this the same man that I knew? He was never one to be quiet. He was known for always winning in everything, including arguments, and it almost seemed like he was obsessed with winning.

"Liliana, I know I hurt you badly and broke you beyond repair, but at least let me atone for my mistakes." He said with a voice filled with regret.

I looked up into his eyes. His deep blue eyes almost penetrated into my soul whenever our eyes met, and it suddenly reminded me of the day we first met, the eye contact played a larger role during our first encounter. The intensity and attraction sparked everything between us and thereafter, it left us in regret.

Even now, I could feel the surrounding tension, the room seemed like it held its breath and everywhere became hot as I struggled to keep myself sane. I would be the last to repeat my past mistake. Though, as seconds passed, I started doubting my self-control. The more I stared at his ever so handsome face that any lady would literally die for, the more I questioned myself. Why did I fall for him in the first place? But with such looks, money and power, who wouldn't fall for him?

Amidst of my thoughts, I gasped when I realized that he was walking closer to me while keeping me spellbind with his eyes. It bothered me with how he could keep me still with just a look.

My back was pressed against the wall as he kept coming and finally stood only a step away from me. The air became stiff, and I quickly thought of running away from his intoxicating air, but my knees failed me even before I could make an attempt.

"I want you back, Lilly. I missed you..." He leaned forward, and our forehead kissed, his warm breath fanned my face, sending a flattering feel in my stomach. "I missed your touch, your eyes," he said, looking into my eyes. "Your skin," he traced my face and I felt a ting on the place he touched. His gaze fell on my lips.

They suddenly felt dry under his intense gaze, and I subconsciously licked them. His gaze darkened, alarming me of what to come.

"Your lips..." He said in a whisper that was almost inaudible. He leaned in, and I instinctively closed my eyes while I shockingly awaited for his moist lips to touch mine.

I was expecting a kiss from the man who had the power to break me. The same man who hurt me the most.

As if snapping out of the trance, I instantly pushed him away with everything I got, and he staggered back a little, not expecting it.

Shocked by what almost happened, I quickly turned to leave and to hide my embarrassment. Was I really that low and cheap?

"Lily, wait." His strong hand suddenly came around my wrist, stopping me from leaving as he pulled me back.

I clenched my teeth upon hearing the name I hated to the core.

"I thought I said you shouldn't call me that!" I yelled, pushing his hand off mine.

"I just want you to listen."

"And why should I? You haven't answered my questions yet. Do you want me to listen now? How pathetic."

"I know my mistakes and I deeply regret it, Lilian."

"What part of your wrongs do you regret? Is it the part where you married me after a one-night stand just so you can claim your father's company? Or is it when you ignored me after using me?" I raised a brow at him. "Is it the part when you locked me in my room for days without food while you gallivant with other ladies? Or probably when you believe the lies they told you, and you almost locked me behind bars. I was in jail for two weeks and throughout I was begging you to listen, but you never did. I craved your attention."

"I might've been set free by the court, but my life would never remain the same because the past will keep haunting me and no one would ever trust me again. If I had been proven guilty by the court, then we wouldn't be here in the first place!" I was already yelling by now, tears stung my eyes as I croaked, unable to conceal my emotions under the fake facade.

That last thing I wanted was to be vulnerable in front of him because that was how I've always been in front of him. But not anymore, I wasn't the same weak and lonely girl he could manipulate anymore.

He couldn't just show up suddenly after 5 years and act like he still had legal rights over me while looking all tall and mighty.

The audacity he had to even show up here was infuriating. I wondered how he found me, but I shook my head almost immediately. He was Frederick Wilton for heaven's sake, that was what he did best. He could undoubtedly find my whereabouts even if I hid in space. That was how resourceful and powerful he was .

Just knowing that alone irked my skin, and I gritted my teeth in both anger and frustration.

"What the fuck do you want?" I snapped.

"I miss us, so just give me a chance. For just this last time." He said seriously.

I chuckled, but it didn't end there as the laughter rose from within, and soon I burst into fits of laughter.

"Are you sure you're the same Frederick Wilton? Or within these 5 years you've changed from a monster to a clown." My voice resounded with a mocking lit.

He clenched his jaw in disapproval, but I wasn't affected, not until he suddenly grasped my arm in a firm hold, yanking me towards him. His eyes turned darker than ever, making my heart skip a beat as I felt a lump in my throat, sensing the forthcoming danger.

"I am mainly not here to battle words with you, and nor am I requesting anything from you. I am simply here to inform you of my intention on getting you back. I would go to the extreme by hunting you with any slight opportunity I get. And I'll stop at nothing until I finally make you mine again, whether you like it or not!" His baritone voice echoed in my ears as he threatened, but it sounded rather like a promise.

Chapter 2 Marriage Contract

(Lilian's POV)

There I was on the cold floor as silence followed his absence. His presence that felt overwhelming was suddenly gone, but I could still smell the manly cologne of he's that seemed to linger in my living room, causing me to remember everything that he said just a while ago. He sounded so determined, and his eyes were evidence of it.

Moments after he left me shocked and frozen, I found it difficult to stand on my feet, and slowly I slumped to the ground, helplessly.

What should I do? I knew very well who this man was, and could still remember how he always played everything to his favor. Would he really go to the extremity just to get me?

I sighed as I closed my eyes, questions swirling around in my head. For the past 5 years, I had been saying to myself that I would be free from his stronghold and now... Now all those words flew from my head.

Why was he back? What was he aiming for? Frederick never did anything without gaining in return.

With my eyes still closed, slowly I remembered how we first met, everything seemed to have been planned out by him. Somehow, but I was still unsure. However, I remembered how I got into the bar and got drunk right after being fired from my job for a crime I didn't commit.

Suddenly, I felt a strong defining presence beside me, but I was reluctant to take a look as I was pretty occupied in my world. A drink got pushed on the counter and I effortlessly rushed to grip it. And once I did, I drank all the content in one gulp but winced when the strong, but rich taste of the liquor burned down through my throat.

It was so much different from the drink I ordered, but I didn't bother to think of it as I continued to drown in my sorrow, and suddenly, I could feel an intense glare that burnt my skin with its slightest graze.

Turning to the source, my eyes met with a pair of blue eyes, the deepest blue eyes I had ever seen, and it was as if I were drowning in it. The eyes were blank and held no emotion but as soon as the gaze left mine and fell on my parted lips, I witnessed a slight display of emotion for just a split second...

"Here's a refill, sorry for the last one." A voice from nearby snapped me back to reality as the bartender spoke. However, I kept looking into those sets of blue eyes, finding it difficult to look away even for a moment. It felt like a black hole pulling me in.

A glass of drink was pushed on the counter again and the man slowly reached for it before he slowly opened his mouth to speak as he stared back at me as if he was also finding it difficult to look away but strangely, I could feel like he wasn't as caught up as I was but rather curious.

"Don't worry, I'm sure the lady would pay for it." His voice was deep, rich, and masculine, causing goosebumps to cover my skin. I wondered who he was referring to. Out of curiosity, my eyes finally broke free from his hold and quickly averted around the place searching for the lady he was referring to, but there was no one around except the both of us. The bar was about to close. Thus, we were the only ones still present.

Moving my gaze back to his, I could see a smirk spreaded on his lips as he stared amusingly at me. Paying close attention to his face, I realized how strikingly handsome this man was. My gaze moved across his face, taking note of his blue eyes, thin lips, pencil nose, flawless skin, chiseled jaw and dark silk hair that was gelled back, making his symmetrical face obvious.

I bit my lips as my eyes went further down to his body. He was dressed to attract, his suit well tailored and expensive. He looked exquisite and rich. My gaze went back up, and I bit on my lower lip even hard as I noticed his dark shaped brow raised.

"Or what do you say?" He asked, studying me with those mesmerizing eyes of his.

"I don't understand," I muttered inaudibly, but surprisingly, he heard me.

"The drink you took was actually not for you, but you can pay for that, or can't you?" He asked as his gaze swept over my body as if confirming I had the money to pay. My cheeks burned red in embarrassment, knowing fully well that I was dressed more like a beggar, plus my sorry state made me look nothing less than a jobless, worthless, and lonely lady hanging around a bar, hoping to find solace in a cheap bottle of alcohol.

Looking over at the glass on the table, my eyes widened as I stared at the world's most expensive drink. There was no way I could be paying for that. I barely had enough to pay for my drinks. I had taken quite a number and lost count. I had already mentally prepared myself to work here for a few days to clear off the debt, and here he was, adding to my bills.

Maybe I should just run now that I have the chance. Shifting my gaze back to his face, I noticed his brows creasing as a frown etched on his face as if he could read my thoughts.

"I hope you're not planning on escaping. Just so you know, no one can escape me," he relayed calmly, and I was a fool for not taking his words seriously at that moment.

Darting my eyes around, I struggled to speak. "But I don't have anything on me, I can't possibly pay for it... Is there something else I can do to pay you back? Anything at all, I'll willingly do without hesitation." I offered, trying to find an easy way out of my predicament, but if only I knew better that I was making a deal with the devil.

I watched as the corner of his lips rose, his hand reached for the glass of drink, and he slowly lifted it up to his lips while maintaining the smirk as he took a sip slowly from the cup, his eyes locked on mine.

Dropping the cup down, he nodded slightly. His eyes swept over me again, and this time I could see a mix of amusement and curiosity.

"Alright then. I have a marriage contract for you." His voice stern and clear, as if telling me there was no turning back.

Chapter 3 Your Children

(Lilian's POV)

My eyes were shut, and I took a deep breath. What exactly should I do now that he is back? Maybe I should run again like before, then he wouldn't find a trace of me. However, I greatly doubt the possibility of that happening. The Fredrick Wilton I know would be the last to go back on his words.

In the midst of my thoughts, I heard the doorbell ring. Turning towards it, I frowned. I wasn't expecting anybody, so who could that be? I just hope that Frederick didn't return just so he could convince me again.

"I'm coming!" I yelled when the bell rang again. Whoever it was seemed impatient. Stalking towards the door, I pulled it open and turned to look at whom it may be.

My eyes widened and my jaw fell. What is she doing here?

I panicked and took a step back to look clearly at who was standing in front of me. Confirming that it was her only made me conclude that I had indeed lost my sanity because there was no way she could've found me and even still, she couldn't be that bold enough to come.

I never expected her, not even in my dreams. Not after what happened. The least I expected to see was her, nonetheless there she stood with a blank expression just like her son's.

She forced a smile before walking past me and into the house without my permission.

"Oh... Your house is similar to the way you wanted it to be. Welcoming and warm, it's really a nice feeling, though I wonder if I am welcome," she commented while glancing around.

Snapping out of my trance, I closed the door and turned to her. "Ms. Wilton. I wasn't expecting you here, in fact, I never knew you would bother to come looking for me." I whispered the last part to myself, astonished that she was actually standing in front of me after so many years.

"How long has it been? 3 years...? Or maybe 4 years?" She chuckled. "Forgive my bad memory. Oh well, when I heard that you were staying here, I suddenly developed an interest in seeing you. You know that it has been so long and..." She trailed off. "How do I put this..." She seemed to be thinking for a while but gave up eventually. "Well, I miss you." She said, and I tried to read her expression, but she revealed nothing.

"I know you're surprised, probably. However, I will have you know that this was just a humble visit after so long. I never expected you to choose this part of the country to stay, but I realized that I don't really know you after all. And you look startled to see me, so I guess my surprise worked." She smiled brightly, but I could see the darkness behind that fake façade of hers. She was probably enjoying the pale look on my face.

"I honestly wasn't, and I don't think I ever will. But you're right, your surprise worked," I choked and her smile widened.

"Oh goodness. I'm glad. So, how have you been?" She asked as she tilted her head to the side to scan my appearance.

I lifted my chin up in a challenge. "Well, better than you left me. That's if you even remember how you left me?"

She smirked. "Of course I do, but I would love to set everything behind us now, although I doubt if everything would ever remain the same." She agreed.

I raised a brow. "Are you apologizing for it or...?" I asked skeptically, and she unexpectedly laughed loudly.

She eventually stopped and looked at me. "Oh dear, you must've misunderstood my words. I am not here to apologize to you. I know you want to remain hidden, and I hope that works out well for you," she stated as the corner of her lips raised.

Finally, it occurred to me. "You're not here to apologize, you're here for something else. Perhaps you are here because of Fredrick's upcoming wedding." I said, realizing the truth. "Don't worry, I have no intentions of reliving my past."

She nodded her head, pleased with my reply. "Good to know. You know, back then I used to think that you're not deserving of Fredrick and even until now, I don't think you are." She looked at me from head to toe.

It hurt a lot, I had to admit. She never thought I deserved him, even though I was the only reason why her son could get all that he had and why she was in this position. If it wasn't for that reason as well, then she would have thrown me out the moment Fredrick brought me into the mansion.

"Great! Now that we have that cleared out, I think you should leave. I can't afford you getting hurt by breathing the same air as I do or staying in this old rusty house that might irk your fine porcelain skin," I mocked with a serious expression. First it was her son and now her.

She seemed taken aback by my words, but I couldn't care less. She finally let out a stiff smile. "Well then. Like I said, your house feels welcoming, but too bad the owner isn't." She walked towards the door but paused when she got to my side. She leaned over and whispered. "You were better off dead than alive, but sadly, I won't be seeing you again. Goodbye, Lilly," her soft voice echoed in my ears and rang a bell.

Wait! I've heard those particular words before in the alley where I was shot and left to die. She was there!

I snapped my head towards her direction, but just then the doorbell rang, and soon the door slammed open.

"Mummy!" I heard two tiny voices beaming, and soon I felt hands wrapped around me tightly.

I averted my gaze to the person at the door, who stood there with a pale face.

Magdalena! What were they doing here?

Soon the arms around me were still and they pulled away. They turned to look at Mrs. Wilton, who appeared to be frozen in her spot as she stared down at the beautiful pair of eyes that stared right back at her.

"Mummy?" She muttered as her gaze swept towards me with a gasp. "They are your children!"
