I looked at the rain falling down on the glass. The rain drops reminded me of tears, something I didn't want to be reminded of, so I looked past them, on the roads. There were hardly any people there, and I liked to think that the weather was the problem, not they themselves. There were green bushes on either side of the road, and I smiled.
Maybe this town hadn't changed that much.
The sun wasn't shining as usual though, hidden by the black grumbling clouds. I prayed for the weather to change soon. I'd always loved rains, but I didn't want to spend my first day here soaking wet. I looked at the front mirror, and my eyes met the driver's. He gave me a toothy smile, and I noticed some of his teeth missing.
"How do you like the town so far, eh?" He asked, his accent a mix of English and Scottish.
"It's good." I replied, a small smile appearing on my face as I recalled all the memories.
"You visiting someone?"
"I'm moving."
His eyes widened a fraction, surprise evident on his face. "Really? From where?"
"Canada."
"Ah, I've always wanted to visit Canada. Heard it's good."
I smiled wider. "It's great. You should definitely go."
He nodded. "So, your parents live here?"
My smile faded. "No, it's my uncle."
Maybe he noticed the change in my mood, or maybe he didn't, but he didn't press it further. "Well, ask him to take you to Josie's. They have the best donuts ever."
I nodded and smiled. He seemed friendly.
My phone buzzed in my pocket. I took it out, sighing when I saw the caller ID. I knew I had some serious explaining to do.
"What the fuck am I hearing?" Bridget screeched from the other side. I know she was happy, I knew it. "What the fuck? When the fuck were you going to tell me?"
"Um, I thought of surprising you?" I wanted to sound confident, but my statement came out as a question.
"Are you serious? Like, honestly serious?" Her voice told me she was on top of the world. But I noticed a bit of hesitancy in it. She was scared for me, for what this place meant to me.
"Yes Bri," I replied, my voice soft. "I'm coming back. I'm coming home."
Amelia pov
"You'll be fine, right?"
"Yes, I'll come home before 12, alright?"
"Okay, please be safe. Call me if you need anything. You know your way?"
I smiled, "Two years apart won't make me forget my home, Uncle Mase."
It had been three days since I moved. It still felt surreal, the fact that I was back here was still hard to digest.
I'd only met Bridget in these three days, and that too because she had hounded on the door until Uncle Mason had opened up, then marched up to me and enveloped me in a hug.
That was the exact moment I realized this was home.
It was her birthday today. I didn't know how I felt about being swarmed by hormonal teenagers while my best friend got drunk. Parties had never been my thing, but Bridget never seemed to understand that simple fact.
Instead, she used to drag me to every single frat party ever being thrown and get shitfaced drunk. I knew she won't let me make excuses for tonight.
I didn't know how much had changed since the last time I'd been here. Bri and I didn't talk about that much. I also didn't know if I did want things to change or be just the way they were. I especially did not want to be the 'new girl', but I also didn't want old memories to surface.
I wanted a fresh start.
And for that, I had realized, I needed a change. A change from everything, including myself. So I'd gone to the salon the first day of my being back and got my hair dyed blonde. Ash white blonde. Uncle Mason couldn't recognize me for 5 seconds straight. I'd always been a brunette. But with blue eyes, blonde seemed to match. For the first time in my life, I liked change.
So the new Amelia won't make any excuses or would not try to pull herself out of this. This was a challenge, a way to test the new me, and I had to take it. I had an urge to look at myself for the last time, to see the kind of change I'd done to myself, but I stepped out of the house before I could overthink any of this.
The dress I'd chosen was a deep black one, down till the middle of my thighs, with a plunging V-neck and backless bodice. So not me, but perfect for the new me. The black dress made my hair stand out, shining in the night sky.
My blue Ford Figo had arrived two days before I had. Uncle Mason had checked the tires and gas, saying it was fine. I got in, taking a deep breath, clasping the steering but not starting the car.
"You can do this." I chanted to myself. "You've changed now A, you can do this."
The engine roared as I drove out of the driveway and made my way over to The Galaxy. For as long as I could remember, The Galaxy had been the only standing bar in this town that attracted attention. It always used to be packed, with youngsters and teenagers and even adults. And if I did remember correctly, there had been a time when I absolutely hated that place. But then again, this is the new me we're talking about, the one who likes change.
The Galaxy was nothing like it had been before. The entryway was a shining golden and silver rather than the previous purple and black. It used to look Gothic before, now it looked like an actual classic bar. The bouncer standing just in front of the gate was bulky, with tattoos covering most of his body, his hands folded on his chest making the muscles bulge. When I went over to stand in front of him, I felt small under his gaze.
Then the voice in my brain reminded me who I was now, so I raised my chin and looked him directly in the eyes. "Amelia Parker, I'm here for Bridget Adams."
He gave me a once over, then nodded his head and stamped my wrist, motioning me to go inside. I glanced at the stamp covering my wrist as I made my way inside. The interior was changed as well, and I had to squint my eyes, but nowhere could I find the wild red locks of my best friend. And then she appeared in front of me out of thin air, giggling and bursting in fits. I smiled, shaking my head as I made my way over to the corner most booth.
Her eyes sparkled when she saw me, then she looked down at my dress. Her mouth hung open, eyes widening. I grinned, winking at her in the process. For some unknown reason, I liked her reaction. When she continued gaping at me, I clicked my fingers in front of her face.
"Close your mouth birthday girl."
She blinked, once, twice, then her mouth turned into a grin. "You look hot babe. You're so getting laid tonight."
I scrunched my eyebrows, "I'm here for you, not for some one night stand."
"Yeah, yeah." With a flick of her wrist, she passed a glass to me. "Drink up."
Then the next half hour was spent in introductions. I was reintroduced to a lot of people I'd already known, and they had been thrilled to see I was back. This town had changed, the people had changed. Everyone was more mature now, and there were these easy conversations. I was also introduced to many new people. Bridget sure knew almost half the town.
She was telling me about her summer holiday in Paris when a muscled arm wrapped around her waist, pulling her into a flushed body. I looked up to find the owner, meeting blue eyes, lighter than mine, though he wasn't looking at me. He was looking down at my best friend as if there was no one else in the room, as if she was the only one.
Someday I wanted someone to look at me like that.
Ah! The famous Dean Hathaway. I'd heard only stories about him on phone, so many stories that I already knew a lot about him for the first meet. He'd moved here the same year I'd left, so I'd never really got a chance to meet him in person. I'd seen him, sure, I'd also talked to him on video chats with Bri, but now looking at him, I understood why Bri was so attracted to him at first sight.
"Happy birthday princess." He whispered and pressed a soft kiss to her forehead. I felt myself smile.
Then his blue eyes met my blue ones, and he grinned. Pulling me into a bear hug, he said, "It's so good to finally meet you. You have no idea how long I've wanted to meet my girl's other half."
I laughed. "I hope it doesn't make you jealous."
His grin widened, looking wicked. "It makes me a lot of things."
Bridget slapped his arm, "Behave, don't scare her away."
My phone chimed inside my purse. It was Uncle Mason, telling me that he was going out for dinner, reminding me to be back by 12. I rolled my eyes, he was a very persistent guy. I texted him back, saying I would be back before 12.
"Dude have you seen that chick? Damn, she-"
I looked up from my phone, and I suddenly felt my heart twisting in my chest, beating thrice its original speed. My phone would have cluttered to the ground had I not maintained a death grip on it. My breath came out as short pants, my lungs feeling as if they'd been filled with water instead of oxygen.
He had the greenest eyes I'd ever seen. Green like the forest, surrounded by thick eyelashes, long enough to curl at the ends. His plump lips were open, so pink, as if to say something, but he wasn't saying anything. A tight black tee was stretched across his chiseled chest, nerves bulging on his arms. A lock of his brown hair fell into his eyes, and I had to clench my fists to stop myself from pushing them back.
He was gorgeous, so absolutely stunning that it left me raw, craving for something so deep I couldn't understand.
And the only thing running in my head was, 'Boy, I'm in trouble.'

Fuck.
Fuck.
Fuck.
I was captivated, so fucking enchanted. I'd never seen someone like her. Her black strapless dress was clinging to her body as if worshiping it, her blonde hair flowing down her waist in waves. The golden lights were highlighting her cheekbones, and when I gazed down at her lips, I wanted nothing more than to grab her and place my mouth on hers.
God, she was beautiful.
"You were saying?" Dean nudged my side, smirking when he noticed me looking at her.
Stupid asshole.
I cleared my throat and this seemed to snap her out of her trance as well. She looked to her side, her face hiding behind her hair. I glanced at Dean, hoping he'd get the message. His smirk widened as he grabbed Bridget by her waist and hauled her to the other side of the room, giving me a thumbs in the process.
I looked at her again, but she wasn't looking at me. She was looking everywhere except me. That seemed to give me confidence, the fact that she was affected by me.
"Hey," I said.
Her head whipped to my side, her blue eyes widening a bit, enough to tell me she was surprised. "Hi."
"I'm Theo." I gave her my hand.
She looked down at it, as if contemplating, then shook her head. "Amelia. It's nice to meet you."
Amelia.
Amelia.
Her name fit her perfectly.
When she placed her hand in my outstretched one, I lifted it up to brush my lips on it. She raised an eyebrow, but remained composed. Damn, a tough cookie. Most girls would have fallen at my feet by this time.
She's not like most girls, idiot. You'd already established that fact.
"How come I've never seen you around?" I asked her as she made her way over to the bar. I followed like a lost puppy.
"Well, I just moved three days back."
"Oh, welcome, I guess. This is a nice place." Fuck, I sound like a girl.
"Yeah it is." She nodded. I saw a distant look in her eyes, something I couldn't comprehend.
"I could show you around sometime."
She looked at me, her lips turning up, "We'll see about that."
Before I could say something else, I saw the wild red locks bouncing, as the owner made her way over to us, an annoyed look on her face.
Damn you Bridget, always cock blocking me.
"I see you've already met the womanizer."
After a second, I realized she wasn't talking to me.
Amelia laughed, "I guess I have."
"Shut the fuck up Cat."
Amelia raised an eyebrow, looking between the two of us.
"I have told you to not call me that." Bridget groaned, "Babe why are you talking to this stupid person over here?"
"Well-"
"No, I'll tell you what we're going to do." Bridget said, pulling her hand so that she got up. "We're going to get drunk bitch!"

Theo pov
She was already down her 6th glass. And she was still dancing. Damn, she looked like a goddess. The way her dress was hugging her curves made me want to ravish her, please her, worship her. I couldn't look away, I just couldn't keep my eyes off her.
"Dude, you've been staring at her for like two hours." Dean appeared from somewhere behind.
"Yeah dude, thank you for pointing out the obvious."
"You haven't even blinked."
I tore my eyes away from the goddess to glare at him. When I was sure he got my message, I turned my gaze back to her. He chuckled, taking a seat beside me. At that exact moment, she decided to throw her head back, moving her hips to her side so sensuously that I felt my pants tighten to such an extent that they would tear apart any second. But it just didn't fucking matter, I still couldn't look away.
"What the hell is happening to you? You've never stared at a girl that long." Dean asked.
"I have no idea."
"They're best friends, you know, her and Bri." He sipped his bear.
Then, I did look at him. "I thought she moved here just recently? They became best friends in three days?"
Dean laughed, "Ten years, idiot. They've been best friends for ten years. She moved back three days ago."
That surprised me, "So she lived here before?"
He nodded, "From what Bri's told me, she moved to Canada two years back, the same time we shifted. Something like she wanted a change."
Huh, a change.
"Uh oh." He said suddenly, looking at the dance floor. I knew what it was before I looked. She was grinding against a guy, a fucking guy who wasn't me, and that fucker was putting his hands all over her. There was this murderous feeling inside me, and I knew if there weren't so many people around here, I would have killed the guy.
Jesus Christ, what the fuck was happening to me.
I didn't realize I'd already gotten up from my seat when Dean held me back, "Do not do anything stupid."
When he let me go, I stalked up to the pair. No, I couldn't see someone else touching her. It was making me mad, so mad. The fact that I couldn't understand this overwhelming feeling was making me more mad. I could feel so many stares as I walked to the dance floor. For the first time in my life, I didn't care about the attention. I didn't pause to look at the people who were looking at me, I didn't pause to glance at the huge female attention I was getting. No, I wanted Mia, and I was going to get her.
She had her eyes closed. So I grabbed her arm and pulled her into my chest, looking behind her at the guy. The stupid guy. The stupid motherfucking guy.
"Fuck off." I growled at him.
He raised his hands in surrender. Fucking idiot. "Didn't know she was taken man." He slurred and got lost.
"Theo!" She screamed and I looked at her in alarm. She had a drunken smile on her face and her eyes looked lost, "Dance with me."
Then she turned around and gyrated against me.
And I saw fucking stars.
I hadn't ever been turned on to this level. She was making me want to beg. I couldn't believe I'd known this girl for less that two hours and I was already panting. She was drunk, completely wasted, and for some reason I knew she would never do this if she had been sober. It almost made me want to enjoy the moment as long as it lasted. So I grabbed her waist and turned her around. She looked up at me, with such innocent and beautiful eyes, that all the dirty thoughts I'd been thinking seconds ago just vanished.
She was beautiful, beautiful like the sun, with so much light.
I wanted to know her, I wanted to know everything about her. She intrigued me, made me curious. I wanted to know what she hid in those deep blue eyes, what made her smile, what made her sad. I wanted to know her favorite fucking color. And the need to know her was growing so fast, that I forgot we were at my best friend's girlfriend's birthday party. Damn you, Bridget. I had to get out of here.
"You wanna go for a ride?" I whispered in her ear. She was still dancing but I saw her ears perk up at my question.
"A-a ride?" She hiccuped. "Like the bike kind of ride or the sex one?"
That's it, my pants were going to tear apart now. I gritted my teeth at her question. As if sensing my discomfort, she giggled. Fucking hell, she was a tease.
"The bike one will do for now." I got out of my mouth.
"I'd love to go on a ride with you, Theo." She slurred and winked at me.
God fucking dammit. I was going to die of blue balls. If she hadn't been so drunk right now, I would have taken her right here, right now. She knew what she was doing, and she was fucking good at it.
We walked side by side, well more like I walked and she clanged on my shoulder, as I placed my hand on her back guiding her forward. I vaguely noticed Bridget still dancing and drinking, and I knew she was too wasted to notice her best friend leaving with me, it's not like I was going to do anything. But I still looked at Dean to convey him my message, and he smirked when he saw us. I flipped him the middle finger, then turned my attention to getting out.
The outside of the bar seemed dull when compared to the inside. The music had already become light, and it felt fucking fantastic when the sound wasn't pounding in my ears. No one ever believed it, but I just hated these loud parties. They messed with my eardrums, and my brain in general. I came because of the girls, but right now I wanted only one. And then I realized the same 'one' had vanished.
"Mia?" I called out as I looked around.
I heard giggling and seconds later she appeared out of thin air. "Mia," She giggled again. "I like that name."
"I'm glad you like it. There's a problem though, I forgot my bike." I cringed. I had really not thought this through.
"Let's walk." She slurred and dragged the 'a' of the walk. I shrugged, it didn't really matter what we did, I just wanted to do it with her.
She stumbled, but then got her footing right enough to walk without my support. I could tell by that very gesture how independent she was. She didn't want to depend on my help. And for some unknown reason, I liked that.
"You know, you're hot." She said suddenly as we were walking down the streets, away from The Galaxy. The streets were deserted, there was literally no sign of life on the roads.
I grinned, "I know."
"No I mean like, really, really hot. Like," she paused, "Like hot water, really hot water. The one that burns." She nodded her head as if agreeing.
"And you know you're beautiful like," I paused, "Like a very beautiful scenery. The one that leaves everyone speechless."
She glanced at me sideways, a small smile playing on her very inviting lips. "You're sweet."
We didn't say anything after that. I enjoyed her company, even though it was silence. The night sky shone above our heads, the yellow street lights mixing with the silver glow and making something very peaceful. It was just an another feeling to roam on the streets at night, when the city was asleep, but you weren't. And then it was just another feeling to be doing this with a very beautiful girl, who was point blank drunk and straight forward.
My phone rang. I stopped, pulling her beside me to stop as well. She glanced at me with a small frown but didn't say anything.
"Where are you?" Dean asked.
"Just somewhere, why?"
"Where is she?"
"She's with me." I said, annoyed. "And no, we're just walking. There isn't anything going on."
"Good, drop her home. I mean it Theo, make sure she gets home."
"Dude, I won't leave her on the streets alone when she's this drunk. I'm not stupid, I do have a heart."
"A fact you so considerably choose to forget every day." He said.
Stupid fucking asshole. "Whatever." I ended the call before he could say anything. And then when I looked to my side, she was gone, again.
"Mia?" I called out, but this time she didn't appear out of thin air. Fuck.
"Mia, where are you?" God, what was with this girl always disappearing.
"Here, here!" I heard her voice. I glanced to my left at the narrow alleyway. "Come here." She screamed again.
I followed her voice deep into the alleyway. It wasn't badly lit, but everything wasn't clearly visible either. I found her standing in front of a shop, so close, that her nose was pressed into the glass. Her black heels were dangling from her hand. Her right leg was raised into the air in a 'popping' position. When she heard me coming, her face whipped to my side, eyes wide. She looked like a child who had just found a candy.
"Come here Theo."
I walked closer to look at the thing that had made her so happy. She pointed inside at a pair of the most sinfully sexy heels I'd ever seen. Just looking at it made me fucking hard. Almost six inches high, a deep blood red in color, it screamed sex.
"Aren't they cute?" She asked.
Cute? "Yeah," They were making me fucking hard, woman.
"I like them."
I love them.
"I want them."
I looked at her. "We can come here tomorrow."
"No," She shook her head. "I want them now."
"How can we get them now?"
Her eyes turned mischievous. "Let's break in."
My eyebrows shot up. I had never imagined she would even think of breaking in. "You're drunk Mia."
She shook her head, "No! I'm not." Then she giggled. "Yeah I am. But you aren't."
"You want me to break in?"
"Yes yes, shh." She placed her finger on my lips. "Don't be so loud. Someone will hear you. This is a secret, okay?"
I was afraid of opening my mouth and doing something that will scare her away, like licking her finger. So I settled with nodding my head.
"Do you have a pin? Oh wait, I have, I have." She exclaimed and produced a small bobby pin out of somewhere. She was good at appearing and making things appear out of thin air.
"Mia, no, we can't break in."
"But, why?" She looked genuinely confused.
"Because, it-it's a bad thing. Stealing is a bad thing."
"Let's be bad. I want to be a bad girl." She said, looking proud of herself. "Now shh, let me open the door.
Then you go in and bring 'em. Shhhhh."
I watched helplessly as she bent down to be eye level with the lock, and inserted the bobby pin inside, doing something, moving it in circle, then doing something I didn't understand again. During that time, I tried to convince her to back off, but she wouldn't listen. It continued for a very long time, after which I heard the sound to locks turning. She got up, dusted her imaginary pants, and clapped. Then she turned towards me.
"Please Theo, pretty please. Please please please please-"
"Okay okay, fine." Because in that moment, all I could think was those heels on her, and that image made me so fucking wild that I knew I had to see her wear them.
I slipped inside the door, making sure no one was there. The shop wasn't big, just one story high in a boxed square shape. It was filled with shoes and sandals and all kinds of footwear for women, but my sole attention was on the sexy red heels. I glanced at the glass to find Mia staring at me, her eyes filled with excitement. When I found the the price tag, I didn't even know if that was cheap or fucking expensive, I'd never really done this. I grabbed the heels in one hand, and from the other I took my wallet out, slapping an extra one hundred dollars along with the actual price, just because I knew what we were doing wasn't legal, and because I didn't want her to freak out tomorrow.
When I walked outside, she jumped on me. "You're the best."
I chuckled, then handed over the heels to her. "Wear them."
"Right now?"
I nodded, "Right now."
Then her eyes turned flirty, "You'll like that, won't you?"
Yes, I'll fucking love it.
She grinned and winked, blowing me a kiss and turning around. "Next time."
