Caoimhe: The Dethroned Alpha

"Where do you think you are going, Caoimhe?" I stopped walking when I heard my mother talking to me. I was trying to sneak out and I guessed I didn't succeed this time.

"I just want to drink some water." I lied and I was shaking because of my mom's cold stares at me.

"Kiddo? Do you think I will believe you?" She told me and I took a deep breath and headed back to my room.

I failed to sneak out but I didn't lose hope, there's always another time to do it without being caught. I slammed my body to my bed and looked at the ceiling. I wish my father was still here so he could cover up if mom caught me missing.

"I need to sleep now." I told myself and shook my head. I closed my eyes and I fell into a deep sleep.

I woke up when I heard noises outside so I went out of my room and saw the beta of our pack. He smiled at me when he saw me walking downstairs.

"Good morning, Caoimhe!" He greeted me and I smiled at him.

"Good morning, Beta Kaapo! Are you looking for my Mom?" I asked him and that's when I heard my Mom's voice talking to someone in the kitchen.

"She's with some sentinel and they were reporting a trespassing incident on our land." Beta Kaapo answered and there was one pack that I knew could do that.

"Ethereal Pack!" I said and I went directly to the kitchen. They stopped talking when they saw me entering and mom immediately looked at me.

"Young lady, we are still in the middle of an important meeting so please let us have some moment to talk in private." Mom told me but I insisted on staying.

"I should teach them some lessons, they are always entering our land without any notice." I told them and mom took a sigh and walked towards me.

"You are still a child and war is always your solution to everything. You can't live long if you always wanted a battle against them." Mom answered and I smirked at her.

"Mom, can't you see that they are abusing your kindness to them." I was mad when mom couldn't get my point. She just smiled at me and patted my head.

"Get back here later after I calm my daughter." Mom instructed the sentinels and they went out of the kitchen.

There was a long silence between me and my mom. She got a glass of water and handed it to me. I took a sip and put the glass on the counter.

"We need to talk, Caoimhe!" Mom said when I started walking away.

"Will you lecture me again?" I asked her and she just looked at me.

"Proving something doesn't require any war or battle. If you can talk with them then do it. Always think about how you can protect our pack and not how you will put them in danger." She told me and it made sense to me. I nodded my head and she hugged me tightly.

"You will be the next female alpha and I don't want you to make a decision that will put our pack at risk." She added and I nodded my head.

"Yes, mom! I am sorry!" I told her and she held my shoulder. I looked at her and she smiled at me.

"Grab your breakfast and I need to visit some of the elders for their opinion about this incident." She said and walked away. I was left alone in the kitchen so I got myself a plate and filled it with food.

I walked to the living room and started eating my breakfast there. When I finished eating, I heard a knock on the main door so I went there to open it. It was Vada and she smiled at me when she saw me.

"I heard that some wolves from the Ethereal pack entered our land again." Vada said while I was washing the plate and utensils that I used.

"They always do that because mom always forgives them." I answered and she laughed at me.

"You are mad again! We can't win against them, their pack is too huge for us." Vada told me and I smirked at her.

"Exactly, that's why I'm proposing to my mom that I will join the scouts." I answered and she looked surprised at what I said.

"You what?" She asked me and I guessed she couldn't digest what I said.

"You heard it, Vada! Don't overreact!" I told her and she smiled at me.

"And that came from you, huh?" She said and she was teasing me.

"Stop talking and we need to go to the center." I told her and she looked confused. I started walking towards the main door.

"Why will we go there?" She asked and I stopped walking.

"I want to watch how Delta Hugo trains omegas and pubs." I answered and we went out of my house.

I used my bike and she went to her big bike. I started biking toward the center and I stopped when we got there. I parked my bike outside and we went inside the center.

"Greet the daughter of our alpha." Delta Hugo instructed his students and they greeted me.

"Thank you for your warm welcome!" I told them and they went back to their training.

"Your mom told me that you wanted to watch how I train the omegas and pubs wolves." Delta Hugo said and he offered a seat for me and Vada.

"Yes, we need them to be skilled enough for future purposes." I answered and Delta Hugo smiled at me.

"All the techniques that I taught them were from the lectures of the late Delta Franco." Delta Hugo said and I nodded my head.

"Then I guessed they were suffering from your lessons?" I asked him and he laughed at me.

"That is given if they want to be trained well." Delta Hugo answered and he had a point.

Delta Hugo started the training again and we were just watching them. It was the late Delta, who trained me and Vada. He was strict about our training and I guessed it was really helpful for us. I learned a lot from him even though I always went home with bruises and wounds.

We decided to go to the border of our land and check what happened there. We were sneaking and luckily we made it without being caught.

I stopped Vada from talking and we hid at the back of a huge tree. Some of the sentinels and hunters were there to investigate. I also saw my mom talking with the two elders of our pack.

"Wow, they made a huge mess here." Vada whispered to me and we were looking at the bent trees.

"They wanted a war against us. They don't respect the peace between our pack and their pack." I answered and Vada agreed with me.

We decided to go back when I felt someone was watching us. I stopped walking when I could smell an unfamiliar scent. I immediately transformed into my wolf form and ran in his direction. It was a boy and Vada was following me.

I saw an unfamiliar wolf running from me and two unfamiliar wolves appeared. I was furious while catching them, I could hear that they were teasing me for being slow. Really? I'm slow? I followed them until they entered their land, it was just a few steps to enter their land when someone stopped me and it made me toss towards a tree. My back bumped into the tree and it hurts a lot. I frowned and Vada ran towards me in her human form.

"I almost caught them if they didn't stop me." I told Vada and she was looking at my back. I heard someone clear her throat and I knew it was my mom. I looked at her and I could see her eyes screaming that I shouldn't do that.

"Go back to the main and we will talk later." Mom told me and I didn't have a choice so I went back to the main with Vada.

"I need to go home, Caoimhe! I'm sorry!" She told me when we reached the main.

"Don't worry, it is not your fault." I told her and she walked away.

I went to our salutary to heal the wound from my back and when she saw my back, she just shook her head. I was upper naked while she was treating my back.

"Your mom is here! I heard Agnes say and I turned around to see my mom looking at me.

"Can you give us some time to talk, Agnes?" Mom told our salutary and she immediately went out.

"I'm sorry!" I told my mom and she sat in the chair in front of me.

"You almost broke what was written on the agreement we had with Ethereal pack." Mom told me and I started to feel mad.

"I was catching their wolves who entered our land. They are the ones who started to break the agreement." I answered and mom immediately stood up.

"And you want to do that too, huh?" She asked me and I stopped.

"I told you many times to think first before taking action." She told me and I looked at the ground.

Mom was right, I always made the wrong decision. Agnes went inside again to heal my back. After being treated by our salutary, we went home and mom didn't talk to me. I went directly to my room and decided not to eat dinner. I slammed my face into my pillow and started crying. I was so careless, dang! Those Ethereals will rot in hell.

Morning came and I couldn't see my mom, maybe she was outside to fix what the Ethereals did. I ate alone and went to the center to watch the pubs train. Delta Hugo told me to help him train the omegas and pubs. I was teaching a young boy and that's when I noticed that he was the son of our Beta.

"You need to do this right!" I told him and he was seriously looking at me.

"Are you listening to me?" I asked him and he nodded his head. So weird!

"Are you the daughter of our Alpha?" He asked me and I nodded my head.

"What is your name, again?" I asked him and he offered his hands to me.

"I'm Maceo Colton!" He introduced himself and I accepted his hand.

"I'm Caoimhe Alvey!" I also introduced myself.

I finished teaching him some of the techniques that the late Delta taught me. I was walking back to our house when I felt someone watching me. I was looking around when I saw a shadow from the back of a tree. I didn't mind it all and started to walk again. I reached our house but I could still feel his presence.

"I need to do this!" I told myself and turned myself into my wolf form. I ran towards him and he started running away. We went inside the woods and I could see his colors. It was pure black! I stopped running when he entered their land, he also stopped running and looked at me.

"You can't enter our land but I can enter your land, weaklings!" He said after he turned into his wolf form. I forced myself to remember his appearance.

"Thank you for showing yourself." I told him and smirked at him. I ran towards our home and luckily I saw my mom cooking our dinner.

I immediately went to her and she looked surprised when she saw me.

"What's happening, young lady?" She asked me and I just drank water before talking.

"I saw his face, mom!" I told her and she looked confused.

"Face? Who?" She asked me again.

"The intruder." I answered and she took a deep breath.

"I warned you that you shouldn't intervene with the operations of the hunters and sentinels." Mom told me and I shook my head.

"I didn't but the intruder was watching me from afar so I followed him and he went to their lands. He came from the Ethereal pack and he even teased me for being weakling." I told my mom and she was seriously listening to me.

"Okay, describe to me what he looks like." Mom told me and I told her what he looked like.

"Black fur?" Mom asked me and I nodded my head. That's what I saw earlier and it was so clear to me.

"I will tell that to the Ethereals." Mom answered and I went to my room.

I was relieved because I helped my mom find that intruder. I will catch him if I see him wandering on our land again.

The next day came and I saw my mom preparing something. I went to her when the two elders came inside our house.

"You will go there alone?" Elder Tima asked mom and mom nodded her head.

"That's dangerous! You should bring some hunters with you." Elder Mako said and I immediately went to them.

"Where are you going, mom?" I asked my mother and she looked at me.

"I'm going to the Ethereals to talk to them." She answered and I shook my head.

"Then bring me with you, mom!" I told her but she just smiled at me and patted my head.

"I'm fine alone, young lady!" She answered and started walking towards the main door.

"But---

I was trying to hold her arm but she faced me with a smile. What did she want to do? This was suicide! I don't want her to go there alone, I will follow her and no one can stop me. I didn't stop her and I just watched her get inside the car.

"Are you sure you don't want to come with your mom?" Elder Mako asked me and I shook my head.

"She will just get mad at me if I follow her." I answered and the elder smiled at me.

My mom's car went away and the two elders went to their home. I grabbed my cap and headed to my bike. I started biking toward the border, I saw some of the sentinels and they were patrolling the area. I climbed on the tree to hide and when they passed where I was hiding, I immediately entered the land of Ethereals.

I hid my bike so I could use it later because I didn't want to be caught while I was in my wolf form. I was walking carefully until I reached their mainland, I saw my mom's car and it was parked outside of a huge hall.

I heard noises and they came from two boys talking to each other. I hid again so they couldn't see me.

"You smell that?" One of them said and they started sniffing around. Gosh! They could smell me? They were walking near me and I was holding my breath.

"What are you doing here? A guest was here to visit so all of you are not allowed here." A familiar figure appeared and I was sure that it was him who entered our land. I was going to confront him when someone stopped me. I started to defend myself but he was too strong for me.

"Fine! Let me go!" I told him but he just stared at me.

"You are an intruder!" He said and I shook my head.

"No, I am not!" I lied and he scanned me from head to toe.

"Nah! You can't trick me. Why are you here?" He asked me but I was thinking about how I could escape from him. My plan was not to be caught but here I am, I couldn't move because of this guy holding both of my arms.

He brought me to a dark room and I immediately freaked out, I need to go home now and anytime my mom will go home. She shouldn't know that I entered the land of the Ethereals.

"Hey! Look at me!" I told the boy but he was busy choosing a rope to tie me.

"I need to go home now so please let me leave." I told him but he just looked at me.

"You are an intruder and I guess that you are also a spy on our land. Who instructed you to be here? Those silver furs?" He asked me and he even mentioned our pack's name.

"So what if I am from that pack, huh?" I asked him and he looked at me intensely.

"You are confessing now." He said and he walked towards me. He untied me and grabbed my arm. We went out of that room and started walking towards the huge hall. My mom's car was still there. We entered the huge hall and all their eyes went on us--- or should I say, on me.

"Caiomhe? What are you doing here?" My mom asked me and they looked at me.

"So, you are the alpha's daughter of those silver furs." The boy whispered to me. He pushed me towards the center and I immediately went to my mom.

"Mom!" I called my mother and I was holding my tears so they couldn't see me as a weak daughter of an alpha.

"Why did you follow me here? You break our rules!" She whispered to me and I knew what I did was wrong.

"It's fine, Wanda! Our son was also at fault for entering your land. Maybe we are even now?" An old man said and my mom nodded her head at him.

"Yeah, sure! But I still want to apologize for what my daughter did. I am sorry!" My mom said and she even bowed her head at him.

"We are sorry too, Wanda! But if you are willing to accept our offer you can go here again and talk about it." The old man said and mom smiled at him.

"I will think about it, we need to go now." Mom said and the old man let us leave.

While mom was driving back home, she was silent and I was guilty of what I did.

"Mom, I'm sorry!" I told her and she cleared her throat.

"It's fine, we are even now." She answered and we entered our land. The sentinels greeted us as we entered our land.

"That was Alpha Qadir, he was known for being violent and I don't want you to go back there." She said and she stopped the car in front of our home.

"Yes, mom!" I said and one thing came to my mind. I left my bike on the border and it was the Ethereal's land. Dang! I needed to get my bike back.

I called Vada and told her that we need to meet near the border. At first, she refused but I forced her to come. I was walking inside the woods and keeping myself low-key.

"Why are we here?" Vada asked me when we met each other near the border.

"I already told you, I need to get my bike. My father gave it to me as a gift and it was the only gift I received from him." I answered and she looked at me with pity.

"Don't look at me like that!" I added and she looked away.

"Fine, but we need to be quick or else they will catch us entering their land." Vada said and I nodded my head.

"I already know that. Let's go!" I told her and we started walking.

Vada will be my lookout while I was getting my bike from the Ethereals' land. I entered their land and went back to where I put my bike. I was scanning the area but I couldn't see my bike, where the hell did it go?

"Faster, Caoimhe!" Vada told me but I couldn't find what I was looking for.

"I can hear them walking towards us." Vada added and I took a deep breath. I tried to find it again but it was gone. I went back to Vada and she looked worried about me.

"You didn't find it?" She asked me and I nodded my head.

"Maybe someone got it." I answered and she patted my shoulder.

"We can look for it some other time." She said and smiled at me.

Before the sentinels reached our place, we ran away using our wolf form. I will find my bike and I can't afford to lose it. I reached our home and I saw mom walking in our garage.

"Where did you go, young lady?" She asked me even though she couldn't see me.

"I went to Vada and we just hung out." I answered and went straight to my room. I don't have the energy to leave my room right now.

My mom called me to eat our dinner and she would get mad at me if I told her that I don't want to eat so I went downstairs to grab my dinner.

"What's wrong with you? Are you okay?" She asked me when she noticed that I barely moved.

"Nah, I'm fine!" I answered and mom put a plate filled with food in front of me.

"You look not fine so tell me what happened." She said and she sat in front of me. I didn't want to tell her that I entered the land of Ethereal's pack so I will just make a story.

"I lost my favorite bracelet but I couldn't find it." I told mom and she nodded her head.

"I will buy you a new one so stop being upset now." She said and I smiled at her. No mom, you can't buy a new one of what I lost.

I am done eating my dinner and I went back to my room. I was thinking about how I can find my bike there. I shouldn't cross the border and if someone sees me, they will bring me to their old alpha. And that boy who dragged me there, I didn't know his name but I can clearly remember his face. I will put him on my death list. They just need to wait for what I'm gonna do to them.

Weeks passed and our land became quiet again, without any intruders. I was walking towards the center to watch the training of our omegas and pubs when I saw Vada talking to Sachi. They looked at me and I immediately smiled at them.

"What are you doing here, Sachi? You don't have any classes today?" I asked her because she was still in school but she was here talking to my best friend.

"Today is the first day of our break so I want to watch how the pubs train." She answered and I nodded my head. She looked so entitled, well she was just the niece of our Beta Kaapo.

"So you are interested in that thing, huh?" I asked her and she smiled at me.

"Of course! I want to see how strong they are. I know that your batch was the strongest but we came second." She answered and Vada smiled at me.

"I guess you need to train more so you can beat us." I told her and I held Vada's arm so we could enter the center.

We saw Delta Hugo train the omegas and pubs. They looked so serious so we didn't interrupt what they were doing.

"Sachi came with her brother, Salvatore." Vada whispered to me and they both watched the training.

"They just want some attention." I told Vada and Delta Hugo to go to us.

"I heard that you entered the land of the Ethereals." Delta Hugo told me and I looked at him seriously.

"Who told you that, Delta Hugo?" I asked him.

"The elders saw you entering their land and they saw your bike." He answered and I immediately held his shoulder.

"My bike? Where is it?" I asked him again and I was desperate to know where they put my bike.

"Unluckily, wolves from Ethereals got it and I don't know where they put it." He answered and I felt dizzy for a moment.

"You didn't stop them from taking my bike?" I asked him and I felt tears in my eyes.

"I thought that it just looked like your bike." Delta Hugo answered and I lost hope with my bike. They have it now and I don't know how to get it from them.

I went back to my house and I felt weak so I lay on our couch. I was staring at the ceiling and thinking about how I could get my bike back.

"You are here! Delta Hugo told me that you paid a visit to the center." Mom said and I nodded my head. She walked towards the kitchen and I followed her.

"Mom!" I called her and she looked at me.

"Yes, young lady?" She turned to me and she was waiting for what I would say. I took a deep breath and collected some courage to tell her that I lost my bike.

"What? Spill it!" She added.

"I lost my bike and the Ethereals have it." I said while my eyes were closed. I was waiting on what she would say but she didn't say anything.

I opened my eyes and I saw my mom drinking water. She put the glass on the sink and looked at me.

"I see! That's the reason why you entered their land again?" She asked me and it made me choke even though I am not drinking anything.

"How- how did you know that, mom?" I asked her and I couldn't remember if someone caught me.

"They saw you and Vada walking towards the border. Both of you don't have any reasons to be there." Mom answered and she has a point.

"But-

"You are interested in being a healer, not a warrior, young lady!" Mom added and I didn't have a chance to talk.

"I want my bike back, it was the only thing that daddy gave to me." I told her and she went to me.

"I know, honey! I will talk to the old man so I can retrieve your bike." She answered and I felt happy when I heard what she said.

Mom started cooking and I went to my room. I got my phone and texted Vada about the good news. My phone rang from a call from her so I immediately answered the call.

"Hey! That's awesome to know. When will your mother get the bike back?" She asked me from the other line.

"I don't know, I will ask her later when we eat our dinner." I answered and she sounded happy.

I took a nap because it was a tiring day for me. I woke up when I felt a warm hand on my face. I saw mom walking inside my room and she was scanning the area.

"You need to throw away those old things." She told me while pointing out my father's things.

"Leave it there, mom!" I told her and she looked at me.

"Get up and we will eat our dinner." She told me and I stood up from my bed.

We went downstairs and our food was ready on the round table. Two years ago, we were three eating our meal here but now we are just two. My father died because some rouges killed him, they were jealous of what power my father had. When my father died, mom took his place and she became our female alpha.

"Eat your food, young lady!" Mom told me and I stopped spacing out.

"I'm sorry!" I told her and started eating.

The next day came and mom was all dressed because she will visit the Ethereals' land. She was watching me going downstairs and she raised her hand to stop me from talking.

"You can't come with me." She immediately told me.

"Mom! Don't be a killjoy." I told her and she just shook her head.

"My decision is final. Call Vada so you have someone to accompany you." She answered and she left.

I don't have any idea what I should do now. I wanted to go to the Ethereals but mom stopped me from doing what I wanted.

"So, you are alone?" Vada asked me as soon as she entered our house.

"Obviously! I want to do something." I told her and she sat on the couch.

"You want to grab some food with me?" She asked me and I rolled my eyes at her.

"We can eat here, what do you want to eat?" I asked her and she smirked at me.

"The perks of being the only daughter of an alpha." She told me and I smiled at her.

"Think what we should do. I'm bored!" I told her and we both stocked up on the couch.

"Let's visit Agnes!" She told me and I got up from lying.

"What? Why should we do that?" I asked her and she rolled her eyes at me.

"Duh! The last time I knew, you wanted to be the best salutary of our pack." She answered and that idea came to my mind.

"That was long ago." I told her and slammed my back onto the couch.

"Long ago? Sis, it was just two years ago. Not even a decade!" She frowned at me. The heck!

"You know the reason why I stopped my training there." I told her and she stopped nagging me.

"Yeah, I'm sorry!" She told me and we stayed quiet for a couple of minutes.

That night when rogues attacked my father, he was treated by Agnes' mother but she couldn't do anything. And at the same time, I was under Agnes' supervision and I was freaking learning how to heal our wolves. I freaking know how to heal any wounds or sickness but when it comes to my father, I couldn't heal him. What's the point of being the best healer if you can't save the life of your father?

"And you are crying again!" Vada told me and gave me some tissues.

"You started it!" I told her and she laughed at me.

We decided to watch a movie until my mom came home. When she entered the main door, I immediately welcomed her.

"So, how is it?" I asked her and she just looked at me.

"His son already ruined your bike." She answered and I started freaking out.

"Wait, what? Why does he do that?" I asked her and started crying.

"He told his father that you entered their land again and they saw you entering." She answered and I started laughing.

"I was just looking for my bike. Gosh! They entered our land many times without being punished then they ruined my bike even though I just entered their land twice?" I asked mom and I sat on the couch.

"I will buy you again, honey!" She told me and I stopped her from walking towards me.

"No one can replace that bike!" I said and ran upstairs. I locked the door and lay on my bed.

Those freaking Ethereals, I will show them who they belittled!
