Chapter 1 01

Crystina's POV

"I heard the Alpha is back," A voice whispered and I turned, suddenly at alert as fear suddenly descended on me.

"There she goes, weirdo" A male voice quietly mocked from behind me as I stood in the hallways of Moonvalley high school. I didn't need to turn to know who it was or if they were referring to me. I know that was for me and it wasn't the first time. Everyone has different nicknames for me; weirdo, dumbo, sicko, and every other awful word that ends with an 'o'. It's not like I care about what they call me or what they think about me, in all honesty, I can't stand them either.

I'm just an ordinary girl in the powerful Moonvalley Pack. Nobody cares about me being bullied or insulted by a group of spoiled high school brats. I'm so sure only a few of the people who live in Moonvalley pack knows my name or even know that I existed. Since I was brought here ten years ago, nobody looked at me twice except for Alpha Luka anyway. Well, no one would really care about the daughter of a murderer.

I opened the locker and screamed before taking a step back. I stared in horror at the dead rat that was sitting inside my locker and on top of my chemistry textbook.

Everyone around me was laughing. I bit on my lower lips as I tried to keep the tears off my eyes but I didn't think that was going to work today. The evil triplets walked towards me, laughing just as my best friend, Paige stopped beside me. She peeped into my locker and saw what they did and groaned.

"You guys need to grow up," She warned. Brandon, the oldest of the evil triplet who had made it his mission to terrorize me shunned her by waving his hand in her face, telling her to shut up.

"How was our little present, freako?" he asked, smiling.

"The last one was better, Brandon. This is way below your regular prank standard. Shouldn't you have done better?" I asked him. The smile slipped away from his face and was soon replaced by a frown.

"You weirdo!" Breston spat. "You think you're so smart, right? Let's see if you'll survive the next one,"

"Do you know what's going to be weirder, if you guys are still standing here trying to bully my best friend in the next ten seconds, I'll rub this dead rat all over your face and shove it down y'all throats," Paige threatened while holding up the dead rat. I hadn't even noticed when she brought the rat out of my locker.

"Oh, God!" I groaned as the stinking smell hit my nose. Paige, on the other hand, wasn't bothered, she could care less about it as she was grinning from ear to ear.

The 'B' triplet moved back from her with disgust plastered on their faces. Breston looked like she was going to throw up while Brandon could only scrunch his big nose. Billy, wasn't impressed as well.

"This isn't over, Crystina and her crazy friend," Brandon warned as they turned, ready to walk away.

"Of course, it isn't over, idiots. You are the ones walking away now," Paige yelled after them. Soon, they walked away from the hallway, and the little crowd that had gathered to watch the show slowly dispersed. Paige was the blonde while I was the brunette. She has a dimple on one of her cheeks and she was so beautiful I could hardly believe she was a friend to plain Jane like me.

"Show is over, everyone should mind their business now," I said as I glared at the remaining few. They rolled their eyes before walking away. "High school is hell," I groaned.

Paige threw the rat into the waste bin down the corridor and walked back to her locker. Her locker was beside mine and it has always been that way since we were in junior high. We didn't bother talking about what just happened. It wasn't the first time it would.

"Where's Nico anyway? Did he finally get lost in the dark forest?" I shook my head in disbelief. Nico was our third friend. He and Paige have never been on the good side for twenty-four hours straight.

"He won't be around today. He said he was busy with something that I shouldn't tell you about"

When I turned to look at her and saw her glaring at me, I couldn't help but laugh. "Let's get to class before it's too late" I advised.

"Yeah, I really don't want to be in detention by the end of the day, that place makes me sick to the stomach," We held hands as we walked together to the class.

We were lucky to get there ten minutes before the teacher. We quickly settled in our usual spot and waited in silence. I'm not the type who loves talking in class and I'm glad Paige understands even though sometimes, she doesn't care especially when it's something that she wants to tell me about badly.

During lunch, we could hear some girls gushing about someone in the cafeteria. Lucky enough for us, we were sitting behind them so we could hear their dark fantasies and bullshit.

"He's so handsome and beautiful at the same time. How's that even possible? He's so unreal," A girl gushed. Both I and Paige shared a look of confusion before turning to the girl. She wasn't alone, she was surrounded by a group of other girls who were busy staring at something on their phones.

"Alpha Luka is the nicest person I know. Do you guys know that Alpha Luka just donated some money from his personal account to the school?" The Principal's daughter asked. Her friends gushed, and shrieked and even a girl let out a cry.

"No way!"

"Yes! My mom just told me about it. Guess what, he's back in town. My mom went to meet with him for a meeting,"

As soon as she said those words, the other girls all brought out their makeup kits while I slipped back into my seat. The cold bread in my hand dropped into the tray as anxiety enveloped me. I could feel cold sweat breaking from my forehead as I clasped my hands together.

He's back. Alpha Luka is back!

He's been gone for three years, why was he back now? What am I supposed to do?

I'd thought he would be gone forever and never did I expect to see him again or hear about him again. My life has been silent for years and now, he's back for what exactly. Alpha Luka was the leader of our pack, the only surviving son of the late Alpha. His father was friends with mine until he was accused of killing Luka's father.

Luka brought me back to the pack to live with him and his people when I had no one left to take care of me and ever since I got here, he made my life a living hell. Not only did I become an outcast but I was also treated like a slave.

Chapter 2 02

Crystina's POV

Who else could do such a thing? Take the daughter of his father's murderer and bring her to live with him. They all thought he had forgiven and forgotten the entire situation that led to the death of his father but in all reality, he hadn't. He had only brought me into his pack, his home for retribution. He wants me to pay for the death of his father and his people. As for me, since I had no home, no parents, no pack, and I was just eight years old, I didn't have a choice but to follow him.

Three years ago, before he left town, he asked me to be his Luna and blatantly I said no, and he told me to my face that I was going to regret saying no to his offer. Three years later, he's back, about to throw chaos into my silent life and make me regret saying no to him like he had said.

"Are you sure you're going to be okay?" Paige asked as we were about to separate on our way back from school. I hadn't said a word to her since I heard that he was back and she hadn't stopped asking me if I was okay.

I nodded again, scared that if I open my mouth to talk, I would cry.

"You can stay at my place tonight if you want," It was a very good option but it wasn't advisable.

I smiled bitterly. "Your mom doesn't like me that much,"

"It doesn't matter, babe, I'll talk to her, she would let you stay. Come on," She held my forearm, ready to drag me with her. I stopped her and assured her that I'll be fine.

"Don't worry about me, Paige. I'll see you in school tomorrow," I assured her again. Reluctantly, she dropped my hand and nodded. "Call me if you need my help,"

"I will. Go now, missus," I demanded and she did. I waited and watched her back as she walked away till she was out of my line of vision. That was when I also turned and began walking towards the Alpha's home, Luka's home.

Three years ago, I got my wolf. It was the best thing that has ever happened to me and it still is the best thing. I tried as much as possible to keep her out of my mind when I'm in school because sometimes, she gets a little crazy.

'You shouldn't be this worried, Tina. He's just back, that's all,' my wolf appeared in my head.

'I want to believe that too, Kris but not when he asked me to be his mate right before he left and I said no,'

My wolf calls me Tina and I call her Kris, when you put it together, you have Crystina as a whole and that is my name.

She huffed. "He might have even forgotten about that. It's been three years, Tina,"

"I know but will he forget something like that so easily?" I asked as I reluctantly stood in front of the door.

"There's only one way to know,"

I took in a deep breath before opening the door to the house. Hesitating, I counted to five before walking in. My heart was beating rapidly against my chest as I walked in. My nerves were all over the place, I blinked repeatedly as I rubbed my hand against my neck.

"Crystina!" I jumped as soon as I heard my name. It wasn't Luka, it was the housekeeper, Miss Mary. Miss Mary, a woman in her late forties, was the nicest person to me in the Alpha's house. When I say nice, I mean the only person to offer me extra cloth when the weather is cold. That was the only good thing she had ever done for me.

"Yes, Miss Mary," I replied politely.

"Alpha Luka wants to see you as soon as you're back. He's been waiting in your room," I swallowed hard and blinked again, frantically this time. I wasn't expecting him to be waiting for me in my room. Why would he be waiting for me?

"Okay, Miss Mary," I nodded.

"Remember to behave yourself, girl," She warned before walking away.

One step after another, I slowly walked towards my room, in fear of what the future held, my heart beating rapidly and I had to put my hand on my chest to calm myself down a little. As I took a deep breath, a captivating scent hit my nose. The more I walked towards my room, the stronger the scent was. It was of Lavender and ginger mixed together. I keep getting lured by the scent that I almost forgot about my worries. The scent grew stronger as I stopped in front of my door. Why was it coming from my room?

Mate! My wolf squealed. I forced her to the back of my mind and focused on figuring out the owner of the captivating and alluring scent. Putting two and two together, I realized the only person that was behind that door was Alpha Luka. Was it possible...?

Before I could figure out my thoughts, the door was flanged open. His shoes were the first thing I saw, and slowly, I lifted my eyes to see his cold stare, glaring me down. Even though the scent was enough to make me throw myself at him, I was still scared of him and the fear was more than the attraction.

Mate! My wolf squealed again and I find myself forcing her out of my head for the second time in the last ten minutes. I quickly looked away from him and bowed my head just to see his feet retreating back into my room. I couldn't deny how different he looked. He looked really more handsome than before.

"Alpha Luka, good afternoon," I greeted politely. It's been three years, I don't know if he would still prefer me to call him just Luka and not Alpha Luka.

"Were you waiting for me to drag you before coming in?" I jumped at his sudden words. I couldn't even look up to stare at him.

"No, Alpha," I stuttered, I stared at my feet and ignored the cold sweat on my face. I clasped my hand together, trying to control my fear.

Silence enveloped the room. The only thing that could be heard was my heavy breathing and the heavy steps that he was taking toward me.

"Why do you look so scared of me, Crystina?" His voice was so gentle and unbelievable. I couldn't believe my ears and that made me fear him and his intentions more.

When I felt his hand on my hair, I moved back. That made me look up at him, he looked disappointed and when he tried again, I moved away. Suddenly, he grabbed my hand and pulled me towards his body. A loud shriek left my throat as he hugged me against his hard chest, his hands were wrapped around my back instantly. I was so shocked that I couldn't say a word. My heart began beating rapidly against my chest as he buried his nose in my hair.

Chapter 3 03

Luka's POV

The one thing I've looked forward to since I left home three years ago was to hold Crystina in my hands like this even if it was just for once. Now, that I'm able to do that, I couldn't help but feel bad as she trembled in my hands. It was messing with my head, my thoughts, and my wolf. This was my mate, the one woman I was destined to be with and the craziest thing is she's scared of me. I can smell her fear mixed with her scent and I hate that.

Three years ago, I found out that she was my mate and when I asked her to be my Luna, she refused. She blatantly said no to my request. It was as if I've been stabbed deep in my heart with a knife. Right before I left, I told her she was going to regret it. She was my mate and there was no way she wasn't feeling the mate bond. She was probably hurting herself by trying to not be with me. I hugged her tightly and I could feel her trembling again.

I was supposed to hate her! After what her father had done to my father, I'm not supposed to be in love with her but every time I close my eyes, all I see is her. Even though I was away for three years, all I wanted was her. I had to wait so I could complete my mission before coming back. My beta has been in charge of the pack ever since I left.

When I waited for her hours ago, I looked around her room and realized she hadn't been doing quite alright since I left. Only a few dresses were in her wardrobe. No pair of shoes can be seen around, maybe she only has the pair she was putting on now. I thought I was angry at the state she was living in but I was angrier when I opened that door and saw her standing there, I was mad. Her pale skin stood out and I could see her bones under the little flesh that covered it. I wanted to punch the wall behind me but I took it all in.

'She's scared of you' My wolf warned, growling for me to let go of her. I growled back.

'Back off, Maxim,' I warned.

Instead, I bent my head and placed my nose on the crook of her neck, taking in her scent, the same one that I've always longed for the past three years. Since then, I'd wanted her to be mine and mine only. When I finally concluded my mission, I rushed back home immediately to see her. I could've gone to her school but I knew she would soon be home so it was better to wait. The night before I left, I'd talked to someone, a close friend about us.

"Do you like her?" he asked. I nodded.

"I'm not supposed to. I mean for seven years I hated her. The way she walked, the way she laughed, the way she talked, I hated everything about her but I couldn't help looking away from her,"

"You decided to punish her for the death of your father and that was why you brought her into your pack,"

"Bro, you're going out of context," I reminded him. We weren't discussing my father's death, we were discussing my mate.

"I think you're the one going out of context, Luka. The question is, you took her into your home for retribution, what changed?" He asked.

"I found out she's my mate," I told him again. "I already told you this. I asked her to be my Luna because I felt it was a chance for us to forget our past and I get to forgive her for what happened"

"Before that, did you like her? I mean before you found out she was your mate, did you harbor any feelings for her?"

"I was supposed to hate her,"

He shook his head. "You're not making any sense right now, Luka. In the first instance, you weren't supposed to hate her. She's not the one who killed her father. You have to admit that you fucked up a big time, Luka. You hated a girl who you weren't supposed to hate and made her not only hate you back but also scared of you. Remind me again, how old is this girl?"

I smiled when I suddenly remembered her face. "She turned eighteen a month ago,"

His mouth suddenly dripped open. "You mean you asked a fifteen-year-old girl to be your mate when you were 22 years old yourself"

" know it sounded crazy but that was the only thing I could do. I just found out she was my mate and that she just had her wolf. It's not like I was asking her to be my Luna immediately, I was just taking precautions,"

He was still staring at me. "I know you're my Alpha and I'm supposed to respect you but this once, please let me tell you how stupid you are,"

"What?" I asked angrily. I clenched my fist as I glared at him.

"You might want to kill me now, Alpha Luka but remember, you have a lot of damage control to do and this time, it's not for a machine or a robot, it's for a girl,"

Crystina suddenly moved back pulling me out of my train of thoughts and I frowned at the breach of contact. She shivered as she took another step back and before I could pull her into my arms again, she tripped and fell to the floor.

I crouched down to her level and touched her face. That made her look up at me. Her quivering pink lips and her round, pretty eyes sucked me in.

"Are you okay?" I pulled her leg from underneath her. I hummed when I realized her leg wasn't broken and she had tripped because of her shoelaces.

"I'm fine, Alpha Luka," She removed my hand from her leg and tried standing up but fall back to the ground again.

"Stop being so stubborn, Crystina," I growled and she shivered again, making me worried this time.

"Are you that scared of me?" I asked angrily. I was angry at her, I was angry because she jumped at my every action and shakes anytime I say something.

She shook her head. "No, Alpha,"

"Look at me then, if you're not scared of me, look me in the eyes," She first shook her head. "Now, Crystina!" I growled.

She threw her head up to look at me. When our eyes met, my inside felt warmth. It was as if a fire was ignited inside of me, not a burning fire but a fire of desire was lit inside of me. Her chocolate eyes sucked me in and I felt she could see through me if she wanted to.

I gently touched her face as my gaze dropped down to her lips, she was biting down on her bottom lip. I ran my thumb over her lips and pulled out her lips from in between her teeth.

"Stop hurting yourself," I mumbled. My voice was so low that I could barely recognize it as my voice.

I lowered my head slowly, to kiss her but not scare her at the same time. As my lip touched hers, a knock on the door sent us separated.

I groaned as I stood up and opened the door angrily. "What?" I spat.

"Sorry for the disturbance Alpha. I wanted to inform you that dinner was ready," Rolf, one of the housekeepers said.

"Whatever! I'll be there soon," I replied.

"Yes, Alpha," I banged the door close.

When I turned, Crystina was already on her feet, she was no longer looking at me. I clenched my fist and mumbled a string of curses. Damn you! Rolf.
