Caged By His Love

Author: : Angel8
Genre: Fantasy
Zaya Monroe has always lived by rules-survive, stay hidden, and never trust anyone. But when her identity is accidentally exposed during a failed escape from her abusive foster home, she falls into the hands of someone far more dangerous: Kael Donovan-a ruthless billionaire known for his cold heart and darker secrets. Kael doesn't believe in love. When he discovers Zaya's ties to a man who betrayed him years ago, he decides to take her-not for revenge, but for possession. She'll be his until he decides otherwise. Caged in his mansion, surrounded by luxury but starved of freedom, Zaya refuses to be broken. But Zaya's fire starts melting Kael's icy exterior. As the lines blur between obsession and affection, Kael must choose: protect his heart or risk everything for the woman who was never meant to be his.

Chapter 1 THE AUCTION

Zaya Monroe knew she shouldn't have come. The velvet mask pressed against her face was hot, suffocating. Her heart thumped wildly beneath the black silk dress that hugged her frame like a noose. Around her, wealthy strangers sipped champagne, their laughter echoing under the chandeliers. Everyone here had power, status and secrets. Especially the man she was here to find. She had one goal: to find a way out of the mess her foster brother left her in. And instead, she walked straight into the lion's den. Tonight was one of New York's underground charity auctions.

But charity wasn't the word for it. On stage weren't antiques or art. They were people. Girls. Zaya swallowed hard as another masked girl walked across the stage. Applause. Another man bidding with eyes full of desire, not kindness. "Number 23 two nights, no questions. Virgin." The crowd buzzed. Zaya turned to leave but too late. A hand gripped her wrist. She gasped, whirling around and met eyes like frozen steel.

Tall. Dark. Impossibly composed. His tuxedo was sharp enough to cut. His face was mostly in shadow, but his presence was overpowering. "Who are you?" he asked, voice low and dangerous. Zaya's heart skipped. "I I think you have the wrong person." "No," he said simply. "You're exactly who I'm looking for." Before she could run, he leaned in. "Your name is Zaya Monroe. You've been hiding for a while. And now you're mine."

Chapter 2 THE CAGE THAT GLITTERS

The car was too quiet. Zaya sat stiffly in the back seat of the sleek black SUV, her wrists resting in her lap as the city lights bled across the tinted windows. She could feel him beside her Kael Donovan. Not speaking. Not touching her. But she felt him like a storm waiting to break. It was everything about him: his stillness, the cold calculation in his eyes, the way he watched her like he owned the air she breathed. "I didn't agree to this," she said finally, her voice breaking the silence like glass. Kael didn't look at her. "You walked into my world.

You don't get to walk back out without paying the price." "This isn't legal," she snapped. He turned his head then, eyes locked on hers. "Neither is what your brother did when he stole three million dollars from me." Her breath caught. "How do you""I know everything about you, Zaya." His tone didn't rise. It was calm. Almost cruel in its steadiness. "Your favorite meal. The fake name you used at the shelter. Every job you've had since you vanished from your foster records three years ago. Your brother's betrayal bought you a one-way ticket to my world." She stared at him, stunned. "You think I'm scared of you?" "No," he said. "But you should be."

Chapter 3 RULES OF THE CAGE

Zaya awoke to silence. No city noise. No shouting neighbors. No police sirens. Just a soft hum of the morning outside the tall glass windows of a bedroom far too expensive to belong to her reality. She sat up quickly. The sheets were silk. The room, massive. Minimalist. Cold. Everything smelled like luxury and danger. She was still in Kael Donovan's home. Or cage. Her heart pounded with the memory of last night: the auction, his threat, the car ride, and finally, her exhausted collapse into the unfamiliar bed. She hadn't been touched. Not harmed.

But the psychological weight of being here owned, bargained for, watched was already heavier than chains. As she moved to stand, the door opened. Kael. Of course. He entered in dark slacks and a fitted black shirt, sleeves rolled up just enough to show strong forearms and veins. Power clung to him like a scent. "You're awake." "No thanks to you," she muttered. He smirked faintly and tossed a folded paper on the bed. "Your contract." Zaya blinked. "You're joking.""Read it. You'll find my terms are clear. No escape. No lies. No touching without permission. I'm not interested in breaking you, Zaya. I'm interested in watching you bend." Her spine stiffened. "And if I refuse?" "You can. But I'll make life outside this house... impossible."
