Cassidy's Pov****
The air Nips through the curtain, shining bright through my eyes. I twirl around the bed, and with my eyes half open, I notice that someone is lying next to me.
I scrambled to recall the previous night. The memory was hazy, but one thing was certain: this was not Jason lying next to me.
"It's not Jason!" I whispered, my voice trembling as I pushed myself up from the bed. The blanket slipped, exposing my half-naked body; I quickly pulled it back up, my face burning in shame.
Before I could process what was happening, the door burst open; Jason stormed in, accompanied by a group of pack members; his eyes blazed with anger and pain, and my heart sank.
"Cassidy! So it's true!" he called out while he lowered his head, as if too ashamed to look at his mate in such a compromising situation with another man.
"Jason...." I spoke, hoping to defend myself and give an explanation as to what was going on, but no words came out of my mouth; my lips were trembling, and not to mention, my heart was racing frantically, and it was difficult for me to process what was going on.
"You know, when I received information that you were at this hotel with one of my guards, I could not believe it, I said no! It is our wedding today, Cassy will never do such a thing to me!"
Even as his gaze pierced mine, there was a mixture of pain and anger all sprawling in, he had every right to be angry, but I needed him to hear my side of the story.
"That is not what happened, Jason please let me explain"
"Sure! Go ahead and tell me, I want to hear what you have to say." he stretched out his hand in a go-ahead motion.
The pack members murmured among themselves, their faces filled with disgust and disappointment. My father and stepmother stood behind me, their gaze cold and unforgiving, while the man who was on the bed with me earlier was now on his knees, trembling.
"I have no idea how I ended up here; the last thing that I recall was having some drinks with my sister last night. I have no idea how I got here, Brielle; go ahead and tell him!"
I pointed to my sister, hoping that she would speak up for me, but she lowered her gaze, which was filled with nothing but disappointment.
"Is this your excuse? You are way more shameless than I had thought. Even if you did not want to go on with the wedding, couldn't you have just said it to my face, did you have to put me through this pain?"
His face contorted in a mixture of pain, sadness, and anger, with deep lines etched on his forehead, and at this point, it loomed like he was going to tear up.
"How could you Cassidy! It is our wedding today, I did everything for you, I gave you my heart and my entire world, what else did you want that you had to go through these miles to humiliate me before everyone"
He spoke, pointing at everyone, including my dad and stepmother. They all had a look of disgust and disappointment on their face as they stared at me.
I opened my mouth to speak but could not form the proper words, my heart had become heavy, filled with so much pain that I was starting to choke on it, yet I had no idea what was happening to me.
"Please Jason, I know you don't believe me and it's hard for you, but give me some time to figure out what is going on and how I ended up in this hotel, please, let me fix this"
I pleaded as a stream of tears rolled down my cheek, but he shook his head, disappointment waved over him. "It's over, Cassy, and you know it; you broke my heart, and you insulted this entire pack!"
"Yes!" someone suddenly chipped in. "you are so shameless to cheat on the Alpha with a mere guard, a girl like you doesn't even deserve to live!"
"Cassy, I am so ashamed of you, I can't bring myself to call you my daughter and right now, I curse the day that I birthed a child like you"
My dad gritted his teeth as he cursed like he could not bear to look at me one more time; he stormed out of there.
"Please.... Please, Jason, I swear I have no idea what is going on, "I cried out, and even with the blanket still wrapped around my chest, I fell to his feet, clutching onto him and pleading, but he did not hesitate to push me away.
"It's over, Cassy, I will go ahead and reject the mate bond...."
"No....no...... please no...." I pleaded but it was too late.
"I, Alpha Jason Vaughn, Alpha of the ancient crest pack, reject you, Cassidy Rowan, as my mate and cut all ties with you!"
I felt that immense pain surged through my heart, shredding through every piece of me that it felt like I was going to lose my sanity at that point.
I had never felt anything so painful like this; it went so deep that it crushed my heart, and the pain wouldn't stop unless I had accepted the rejection.
"I, Cassidy Rowan, accept your rejection." My voice was hoarse; it choked on the pain as I spoke, and just when I thought that it was over, he pulled closer to me, stepping on my palm.
"As the Alpha of the pack, I hereby banish you from the pack and declare you a rogue; henceforth, no pack will let you into their territory; you will wander around until you are killed!"
He stated the fate of a rogue, even when I lifted my gaze to stare at him, they were cold, void of any form of emotions, like this was not the man that I knew and loved.
And with that, he stormed out of there, his men dragging the other man away. But just as Brielle was about to follow behind, I reached for her arm.
"Brielle, you have to help me, I have no idea what happened or how I ended up here, plead with Alpha Jason since you are close to him"
My eyes had turned red and were wandering in desperation; Brielle looked at me with sympathy before she pulled me away from her side.
"I am sorry, I wish that there was a way for me to help you, but you were caught with a man on the same bed, the Alpha's mind is made up and there is nothing that anyone can do to change that, I suggest that you leave right now else he might take your life"
She advised and walked out of there. Everyone could not stop staring at me in disgust as they left. It was so hard for me to believe that my world that was about to become perfect suddenly came crashing, yet just like Brielle said, I knew that I had to leave, or else I might lose my life.
I hurried back home, trying so much to hide myself as I did and once I was back at home, I exhaled softly before hurrying upstairs.
My gaze landed on my wedding gown hung right before me; today was supposed to be a perfect one, and as I stared at it, tears rolled down my cheek.
My hands began shuffling through the wardrobe, packing as many clothes as possible until I was suddenly interrupted by the sound emanating from Brielle's room.
At first, I wanted to ignore it, but the voice sounded so familiar and given that I had better hearing ability than most werewolves, I had to be right.
I stride out of my room, slowly walking towards the other room, my heart racing fast and there was the thing that I was so afraid to face.
"Yes... yes, jason.... Don't stop; you know how to rock my word," she teased as Jason giggled. My heart sank, and I felt my entire world crumble before my feet.
Cassidy's POV****
The sound of the kiss grew intense, followed by passionate moaning. I stood before Brielle's room, my eyes peeping through the rear of the door, my heart racing frantically; it was so hard for me to believe that the same mate who had just accused me of cheating and had me banished was having the best time with my sister.
"Oh Jason, you know just the right spot to get me"
"That is because you deserve it, if you hadn't come up with such a plot, I don't think that we would have been able to get rid of your sister that easily"
He praised her, and as he did, his lips found their way around her neck, kissing and nibbling her sensitive parts.
Brielle could not help but chuckle, accompanied by a sensual moan; there was no doubt that she was enjoying every moment of it.
"I guess if I hadn't come up with a plot, you would have still been there feeding her with those sliver plants that don't seem to have an effect on her"
She mentioned, and my chest tightened, tears rolling down my cheek, but it was so difficult for me not to make a sound.
"You have a point, yet I can't seem to comprehend why the sliver plants didn't work on her, most werewolves lose their lives by just mere contact with the plant, in her case, she consumed the plant on several occasions, yet it did not affect her"
They discussed, both their hands still wrapped around each other. This felt like a dream; it was so hard for me to believe that this was truly happening. The two most important people in my life had been trying to take away my life, and I had not a single clue about that.
"I am glad that after everything, she is gone now And not to mention, everyone hates her so much and can't stand her gut"
Brielle's tiny voice came through again, this time, she giggled, her voice loud enough for anyone to hear.
My chest was burning, and I clutched onto my tummy, thinking about what to do next; this was the height of what I could endure.
I took a step about to go on and confront them, but I drew backward.
If I went ahead to confront them, it would just be my words against that if the Alpha, it wouldn't make much sense, right now, what I need is to gather as much evidence as possible.
I concluded my thoughts, about to walk away and leave the pack, only to return when I had as much evidence as possible, but just then, I lost my balance, slipping through my step as I fell down, slamming hard on a flower vase next to the door.
The flower vase came crashing and before I would be able to get back on my feet, they both stormed outside.
"Cassy! What are you doing here? I thought you had already left?" Brielle asked, barely dressed in just her bra and her pants, she held her shirt as she struggled to tug it around her body.
"Wait! Have you been listening to us all this while?" Jason frowned, standing right before me; his gaze trailed down at me; they had nothing but disgust in them.
"So you set me up, why, why would you do something like that to me, I haven't done anything wrong!"
I spoke, my voice shaky, it was so difficult for me to believe that the two most important people in my life would do such a thing to me.
Brielle's laughter cut through the air, the sound like a knife slicing through my heart. "You always were predictable Cassy, you always were"
"You should have left when I asked you, from the way that I see it right now, looks like you are looking for death"
He spoke coldly as he tucked his pants up, standing next to Briell,e, who had a silky smile on her lips.
"You know what, Jason, I am just going to pretend like all of this didn't happen. Can we start over?"
I shamelessly asked. I had just caught my mate with my sister after setting me up and trying to kill her, yet I had no idea that I would have the guts to still want to be with him.
"Come on, Cassy, how could you even say that? Are you that desperate?" Jason asked, and Brielle giggled, yet I knew I had to tell him the truth; if that was what it was going to take to get my husband back, then I was ready to do it.
"I am pregnant Jason!" I blurted out. First, he froze, his eyes widened, no doubt that he was stunned by this piece of information.
"You worthless pieces of jerk, how can you even dare lie just to get Jason to you, is that how desperate you are!"
Brielle gritted her teeth, no doubt that she was angry at the news knowing that it had some sort of effect on Jason.
"I am not lying Jason, you just have to listen carefully and you will be able to hear the heartbeat of our baby, please"
He was silent, his gaze fixed on my stomach; I could hear his heartbeat; it was calm; no doubt he was trying to listen to the heartbeat of the pup in my stomach until Brielle interrupted.
"You are a lying piece of a jerk; even if you are pregnant, I am certain that it doesn't belong to Jason, your baby is worthless shit, and I hope that he does or has a stillbirth!"
She cursed at me, her jaws tightened. That was the height of what I could endure from her. I rushed towards her and slammed her hard like that was not enough; I grabbed her hair and began swirling around.
"That is enough Cassy, stop that!" Jason called out to me but I was too angry to listen to Jim.
"Cassidy I said stop!" He yelled out again, and with his voice, a loud bang sound followed, making me dizzy as I pulled away from her and struggled to remain on my feet.
Jason had just hit me with a large flower vase and if that was not enough, he slammed me with it again, harder than the first time
I could not take it any longer and fell to the ground, my blood flowing like an ocean as I gasped for breath.
"Jason! She isn't dead, you need to kill her else she is going to expose her"
"I don't think that there is anything she can do in such a state"
"You don't understand Jason, if anyone, anyone finds out at all what happened here, it might be a problem for you, and your brother even in his state might come after the throne"
Jason had always seen his brother as his biggest threat; that was all the conviction that Jason needed. He picked a knife from his room, and without blinking an eye, he shoved it right into my stomach.
"No...." I clutched onto my stomach, the pain surging through my entire spine, I was choking on my blood, and it was next to impossible to breathe.
With my hands trembling, I reached for the pendant on my neck, I held onto it with every ounce of strength left in me.
"Please.... Just a second chance, let me make this right" I pleaded in a whisper as tears rolled down my cheek.
As I clutched onto my stomach, the pain surging through my entire spine, I felt my vision become blurry. The last thing that I saw was Jason's face, his eyes consumed with a mixture of guilt and determination and then, everything went blank.
Cassidy's POV****
I was woken up by the bright light shining directly through my eyes; I clamped my hands around my eyes, trying to shield the light from penetrating any further.
"Was this heaven?" I thought to myself until that voice that had the ability to crush my soul came through.
"Wake up, Cassy, today is the mating ceremony, and I can't believe that you are still asleep!"
Her voice penetrated through my ear that I did not realize when I jerked up from the bed, and next to me was Brielle, her gaze locked with mine as they beamed with sincere smiles.
I stared around the room; it was my room, the one that I was familiar with, but what was happening? Why was Brielle here, and why was I there?
Recalling the previous event, my hands reached from my tummy, but there was nothing there; there was no baby, and neither was I stabbed with a blade.
"Was it a dream?" I stared blankly as I asked, but I was not referring to anyone in particular.
"What are you saying?" Brielle furrowed her brows, confusion swept through her face as she stared at me, yet I could not help but pull away from her.
"What are you doing here?" I questioned.
"What do you mean what I am doing here, it's the mating ceremony today, remember we both agreed to go together"
"The mating ceremony, but that has happened long ago, why are you talking about that?"
I was lost, trying to comprehend what was happening, she narrowed her gaze at me.
"Is this some sort of a joke Cassy, or did you hit your head while you were asleep?"
A smile swept through her lips; they were such a sweet smile; I slammed myself hard on the head, realizing that it was all a dream.
"I wasn't joking, Brielle; I think that I had a dream, and it felt so real," I explained, and she drifted closer to me, wrapping her hands around mine.
"Whatever it was, it was just a dream. Today is the mating ceremony; we get to find our mate, so I don't think you should be worried about a dream; get dressed!"
She suggested, but I was still confused, I had no idea how I was back here. The mating ceremony happened a year ago. There are so many memories of a year, and there was no way all of it was a dream.
"But the mating ceremony only happens until night, why am I supposed to get dressed this early?"
"Dad and mom are downstairs waiting for us to have breakfast," She reminded me; even though I was still lost as to what was happening right now, I rose to my feet and strode towards the bathroom.
I stood before the bathroom mirror, and right there, the pendant on my neck glittered. There was a bright purple color; suddenly, it began to glow, and as it glowed, I began to feel this sharp pain in my head.
I clutched it firmly to my neck, and instantly, images began to flash through my head: there was my corpse on the floor, and I was in the pool of my own blood; this was certainly not a dream.
I could feel that same pain I felt there, the horror of being betrayed piercing through my heart again.
As soon as the pendant stopped glowing, the pain instantly stopped but with my gaze still fixed on the pendant, I noticed something strange.
There was a timer; it had started a few minutes ago, and I needed no one to tell me that I was back to a year ago before I became a mate with Jason.
Just when I was about to ignore it, there was a message boldly written on it: ONE YEARS LEFT TO CHANGE YOUR FATE!
Goosebumps all over me; I did not realize when I fell on the floor trembling, unable to believe that this was indeed happening.
I got dressed after having my bath and as I stride down the stairs, my guess was fixed on my family at the dining table.
"I am going to fall!" I suddenly blurted out to myself and with the next step that I took, I landed right On the floor, rolling through the stairs.
"Cassy! Are you alright?" Brielle hurried over to my side but I froze right there, staring at everyone; there were goosebumps around my arms.
"It's the same! Everything is the same!" I announced, but no matter how many times I said it, no one had a clue of what I was saying; they all stood there staring at me like I had lost my senses.
But it was not a matter of my senses; it was a matter of rebirth; this was not a dream like I previously assumed. Everything is the same as it happened to me at the mating ceremony.
Ranging from the choice of dress I wore to falling down the stairs, the clothes Brielle wore, and even the food on the table, everything was the same.
"It's happening again!" This time, I clutched onto the pendant on my neck as fear took hold of me; my hands and feet were trembling, and I was on the brink of tears.
Their voices kept echoing in my head; none of it made any sense; I just knew that I had to act; I had to do something else. It was going to repeat itself, and my fate would repeat itself.
And with that thought, I dashed out of there, running as fast as I could go. My dad kept on calling out to me, yet I ignored him and did not stop running until I had boarded a cab.
"Take me to the Pack house!" I announced and the driver sped off.
My heart kept rising and falling as the driver sped through the busy road, I was trying to connect with my wolf, but she wasn't there, she wasn't responding to me, everything wasn't just right, and most especially, I knew that I was on a timer and had to get my revenge.
As soon as I came to a halt before the pack house, the guards at the gate did not hesitate to let me inside, knowing that my father works for them.
I went straight to Lyon's quarters; his quarters were the smallest in the pack house, and for someone who was once the Alpha, it was quite surprising.
I stood before his mansion, the guards staring at me from head to toe like I was lost cost.
"Are you lost, Miss?" They asked, probably because no one had ever visited Alpha Lyon since the accident, but I shook my head.
"I am here to see Alpha Lyon!" They widened their gaze; I could not tell if they were surprised because I was here to see Alpha Lyon or was it because I addressed him as an Alpha.
"You can't see him, whatever this is about, you can relay the message to us and we will pass it to him"
The huge guard with tattoos all over his body requested, but I shook my head.
"No! This is not a message for you, I need to speak to him myself"
"Miss! I advise that you leave right now, you have no business with Alpha Lyon"
They requested, but I was desperate, and most especially, I was in a hurry; when they least expected, I shoved them out of my way and stormed right inside.
Inside the cold living room, deprived of any form of love or warmth, was Alpha Lyon in a wheelchair, his cold gaze staring blankly at me, and before he would even get the chance to speak, I spoke first.
"Alpha Lyon, let's get married!" I blurted out as his cold eyes froze.
