A knock came from the door waking Natalie up from her beautiful sleep. She opened her eyes, yawned, and flipped her long brown hair to one side. The knock came again and she hissed.
She wondered who was disturbing her peace that morning. Wont they let her wake up by herself that day after all it was her wedding.
The door flew open and a dazzling man dressed in suit walked in. his expression suddenly changed when he saw Natalie still on the bed covered in a white duvet.
"You are still sleeping?" He spoke in his sweet manly voice, which Natalie has always looked forward to hear each passing day. She looked at the clock on the side bed beside the bed and lifted up a brow. She was surprised and confused on the little time her fiancée dressed up.
It hasn't been up to ten minutes he left the room but was back all dressed up in his black tuxedo for the wedding.
"In just ten minutes?" she asked him. "Ten minutes what?" he looked so puzzled. "I mean. How did you manage to take your bath and dressed up in ten minutes?" she asked him. He didn't understand what she was talking about until his eyes darted through the room and he saw her dresses scattered everywhere in the room.
"Isn't that the dresses you wear yesterday for the cocktail party?" he asked her. Natalie turned to where he was pointing at and she node her head. "Yes" she said. Why was he asking her when he knew how the dresses got there?
"What are your dresses ding on the floor? And why is the bed..." he paused when his eyes caught her bare chest. "Why did you undressed before sleeping?" Natalie looked down her chest and chuckled. "Why are you asking what you already know?" she scoffed.
James was more confuse than he was when he first saw the dresses on the floor. What was she talking about; he doesn't know how her dresses got there and shed saying something, which was confusing. He went closer to the bed and held the duvet to pull it off her body but Natalie held un to it giggling.
"come on James, we can wait till tonight to repeat thus again. What if anyone shows up in the room when we are in the middle of romance?" she giggled. "Natalie, I don't know what you are talking about. What happened to you last night?" he asked her.
What happened to her or what happened between them last night? She was confused by his question and his expression too. He looked so shocked and she could sense he was getting angry.
"you and I made out last night," she said with a brow raised. "you and I did what!" James exclaimed. He was shocked beyond recognition. He did nothing with her; he wasn't even with her last night. He was even looking all over the place for her after one of his friends told him she was having a drink with her stepsister.
"yes and why are you acting this way?" she sat upright. They did made love last night. She remembered he came inside the room when she was already on the bed trying to cool off from getting drunk at the party.
She remembered telling him they could wait until the next day, which was their wedding, but he went ahead and she gave in. after all, he was the man she was going to be married to the next day.
" Are you out of your mind?" his voice was now loud. "James, what's going on?" Natalie asked him. "You want to know what's gong on? Then wait for me" he left the room in anger leaving her so confused.
As Natalie was trying to figure out what was going on, James returned to the room with her step mum, dad, and stepsister behind hm.
her eyes widened and she quickly covered her shoulders. " What have you done!" her step mum was the first to speak. Her stepsister covered her mouth while her dad stood there in shock.
"Is this the type of a person you want me to get married to? She slept with another man just before her wedding and she's telling me it was I," James pointed at her as he spoke.
Slept with another man? Natalie was shocked. How could James say that about her in front f her. They didn't have any misunderstanding for him to accuse her that way. Why would she even do that to him when she wasn't stupid?
"James, please stop saying that. You know l'll never do something as stupid as that. Don't do this to me to make me look bad in front of my parents, it was you last night and..." he yelled at her and shut her up.
"you and I are done because I am not going to marry someone who cheats!" he shouted at her and stormed out f the room. Natalie froze; her wedding has just being called off by the man she has always dreamt of spending her life with.
The slap from her step Mum brought her Back to her senses. Tears rolled down her face and she held her cheek, which was slapped. She looked at her dad who was still rooted to a spot in shock and she shook her head.
"how dare you do this to our family!" she slapped her again. When she lifted up her hand to slap Natalie again, her stepsister ran there and she grabbed her mum's hand. " Mum, that's okay" she whispered to the woman.
The woman turned to her husband who was still shocked about the whole thing and she held his hand. "Honey, you have to do something about this girl because she has brought shame to our family."
Natalie watched her daddy, she was waiting for what the man was going to say to her. " let's go home" was the only thing he said and they left.
Walking out of the hotel with her bag which had her wedding dress in t, Natalie couldn't believe her wedding was ruined just like that.
She has put a lot of effort in to seeing that her wedding went so smooth but it turned out luck wasn't on her side. she has never been successful in whatever she had in mind to do. Her wedding was her only hope but that too got ruined.
Sometimes, she would wonder if there was something she did wrong in her past life that always made her see failure in her life. Who knows, her fate might change after getting married. She walked through the reception , wiping the tears on her face.
When she stepped outside, she turned around to see the hotel one last time. She knew that was the last time she was going to step her foot inside the hotel again. The hotel belonged to her fiancées family, it was the biggest hotel in that city.
James chose the hotel to be where their wedding would take place because that was where they lodged all the guests that came for their wedding. She slowed down a taxi after getting to the street and hoped in.
When she got home, her dad, step mum and stepsister where in the living room waiting for her. She already knew that was never going to turn out well. Her step mum already doesn't like her and she would do anything to Make her dad punish her for hat happened.
" what do you have to say about that?" he asked her. There was only one thing that she had to say, which was ; she doesn't know who entered the room. " I was drunk" she lowered her head in tears. "I thought that was James" Natalie sobbed.
" liar! You always knew that wasn't James. That innocent Boy would never do something as horrible as that. He promised me he would never sleep with you until after your wedding. But because you are so desperate to feel a man's touch, you went ahead to invite another person in to the room" step mum snapped at her.
" I swear I did none of that. Believe me please" she looked at her dad. " you have to believe me please, dad" she pleaded.
" Natalie, you made us lose a responsible Man from a wealthy family because of your stupidness. How could you do this to me when you knew that I needed James to get back my money from that old hag. James father is the only person that can help me with that but that would never happen until you and James got married"
She knew that, that was why she has being tolerating James even though he always gave her an attitude. She loved him because she wanted her dad to get back his money from his business partner who has refused to let them out.
" what are you going to do now, honey?" his wife moved closer to him on the couch. He stood up from the couch, turned his back on them, and took in a deep breath before he could start talking.
" Because you have brought shame to my family, you no longer belong here"
Natalie leapt to her feet. Did she hear what her dad said or her ears were playing games with her? she went close him and held his hand but he pulled her hand away. His action made her convinced he did say that.
" Dad, please don't do this to me. I don't know how it happened. I thought that was James, I was drunk last night" Natalie cried. However, her pleas turned on deaf ears. Her dad walked out of the living room after giving her his last statement.
" You heard what your dad said right? Get out of this house because we don't want to see you here in the next twenty minute. Pack all the trash that belongs to you And leave!" her step mum shouted at her before leaving too.
The only person she was left with in the living room was her stepsister. She was the only person that hasn't spoken in the room and Natalie turned to her with tears on her face. " Bosha, I swear..." Bosha sighed deeply. She went to where Natalie was standing and she hugged her.
" It's okay sis, I trust you" she patted Natalie's back. For the first time in her life, Natalie felt secured in Bosha's warm embarrass. Not that Bosha like her, she hate her more than her step mum hates her but she needed that at that moment that she forgot what Bosha could do.
" Natalie, I believe you because you don't know how the guy got in to your room last night" Natalie lifted up her head from Bosha. Her voice sounded like she knew what happened last night.
" Sis, don't you remember how you got drunk last night?" Bosha asked her with a mischievous grin. Of course Natalie knew, it was Bosha that forced the wine on her even though she didn't want to take it. But was it the wine that made her lose her mind that she could differentiate a stranger from her Fiancée?
" It wasn't only the wine" Bosha said and turned her back on her. She turned swiftly, leaning her back on the wall.
" I put a substance inside your drink" she let out a hilarious laugh. " You did what!" Natalie exclaimed. " Yes. About the guy that came in to your room, I got him drunk and directed him in to your room. now that your life is ruin, you can leave the house for I and my mum"
She stepped out of the apartment laughing hysterically. Natalie was shocked, She didn't know her stepsister hate her to the extent of ruining her wedding.
If only she didn't do that, she was going to leave the house after all. She can't stay with them after her wedding; she would be moving in with her husband.
There was only one place for her to go which was her grandma's place. How was she going to inform the old woman that her wedding got canceled? Natalie thought as she rested her head on the headrest.
Some minutes later, she arrived at her grandma's place. Granma was surprise to see her because she too was getting ready to go to the wedding.
" what's wrong? Why are you here and why are you with your bag?" she asked her. Natalie sighed, she sat down on the couch and held her face in her palms. Grandma dropped the shoe in her hand on the floor and went to where she was sitting.
" Did something happen?" she wrapped her arms over Natalie's shoulder. Natalie lifted up her face filled with tears and rested her head on the woman's chest. " Granma, my wedding has been cancelled" she burst in to fresh tears after saying that.
It was as if a needle was pierced in to her heart. Granma sighed deeply and shook her head. When she thought her grandchild was finally getting away from that house for good. She has been so happy when Natalie told her she was getting married .
She thought her prayers were finally answered. But when she heard the family she would be marrying in to, her joy faded. She wondered if her grandchild would live happily with her husband. They were rich people and she knew her father was marrying her off to the family for his own selfish interest.
She looked at Natalie again and patted her back gently. " it's okay kid, do not cry. Grandma is here for you" she said as she patted her back. Natalie would have stopped crying when grandma said that but that wound was more than the ones she has had since childhood.
Now, her heart was shattered for love. She was sent away by the man who was her Dad and the man she had always looked forward to. Then the man she wanted to spend her entire life with too, she lost him just because she was so stupid.
" Grandma, this is my entire fault . if I hadn't followed Bosha to drink the wine, she wouldn't have drugged my drink" she cried.
" It's okay dear, do not cry over that. You should be happy now that you are no longer staying with them. Here, l'll give you the love you've lacked all those years of staying with them"
Grandma was happy that her grandchild was finally out of that house and she would be seeing her every day. When she was still with them, Natalie was never allowed to visit her grandma unless she sneaks out of the house or lied that she was going to the school.
After that day, Natalie stayed with her grandma. She had tried to move out from there to live alone but when she went to withdraw money from the bank, she found out her account was blocked.
No one has to tell her who was the mastermind behind that. Her step mum was surely behind it. That woman can go any extent to make her life difficult.
" I don't know why you want to move out f here, the house is so big to occupy more than four people.
There are three rooms in the house and a large living room too. Why do you want to move out?" Natalie chuckled. " Nothing, grandma. I just want to experience how it is to live alone"
" That isn't an excuse. I don't want you to think of leaving this house again. Understand?" Natalie nodded her head. How was she even going to move out when she didn't have any money to rent an apartment or to feed herself? She didn't even have a job or a business where she would get money from.
Natalie never thought of leaving the house again. She was still pained by what her stepsister did to her . she tried as much as she could to forget about what happened but it wouldn't stop coming to her head. Sometimes, she would sleep ad all she did at night was to cry.
She lost her family and the man she wanted to marry. She still blamed herself for everything.
Three weeks later, Natalie was sweeping the living room when she started feeling dizzy.
She has been experiencing that for more than a week now. Her grandma insisted they go to the hospital for check up but Natalie has refused.
But that day, it got so severe that she lost consciousness and fell on the floor. Luckily, grandma was at home at that moment and he was rushed to the hospital.
When she opened her eyes, she found herself in a different place, which wasn't her grandma's house. She turned to her left and there stood a drip stand, which was holding the bag of fluid running in her vein. She tried to sit upright but her head ached.
As he was still trying to figure out how she got there, Grandma came inside the room. her face wasn't the way Natalie has always seen. She wasn't smiling nor does she look happy. Natalie was confused.
Was something wrong with her? What did the doctor say was wrong with her? Did she injure any organ n her body for over thinking or for starving herself?
" Natalie, the doctor said you..." grandma lowered her head and exhaled deeply before lifting up her head again. what did the doctor said? Natalie was already getting scared. Why was her grandmas face that way? She managed to sit upright and leaned her back on the bed.
" what did the doctor say? please talk to me grandma, i'm getting scared already" Natalie said worriedly. Her heart was already beating fast and balls of sweats have already formed on her face. " the doctor said you are pregnant"
Natalie was shocked. How was she pregnant? And why would she be pregnant suddenly?
" I am not pregnant, I think the doctor has missed up the result." Natalie started crying, shaking her head vigorously.
