Chapter 1 The Alpha I was meant to kill

The night smelled like blood. Ryker Storm stood at the edge of his territory, his chest rising slowly as the wind carried a scent he had never forgotten. Dark. Powerful. Dangerous. "Kael Draven..." he muttered, his jaw tightening. The Alpha King had finally come. A low growl rumbled deep in his chest as shadows moved between the trees. Then- He stepped out. Tall. Dominant. Untouchable. Kael Draven's presence alone was enough to make weaker wolves bow. But Ryker wasn't weak. Their eyes locked. And the world... stilled. Something snapped. Not anger. Not fear. Something deeper.

Something forbidden. Mate. The word hit Ryker like a punch to the chest. "No..." he whispered under his breath. It was impossible. Two Alphas? Never. Kael's eyes darkened, as if he felt it too. The air thickened with tension. With hunger. With something neither of them wanted. "You crossed into my land," Ryker growled, forcing control into his voice. Kael tilted his head slightly, studying him like prey. "Your land?" he said calmly. "Everything belongs to me." Ryker stepped forward, eyes blazing. "Not me." For a second, silence fell. Then Kael moved. Fast. Too fast. He grabbed Ryker by the collar, pulling him close to close enough for their breaths to mix. And that dangerous connection exploded between them. "Careful," Kael murmured, his voice low and dark. "You don't understand what you are provoking." Ryker's heart pounded violently. Not from fear. From the bond. "I'm not afraid of you," he shot back. Kael's grip tightened slightly. "Good," he whispered. "Because you should be afraid of what you are to me." And in that moment... Ryker realized the truth. The man he was ready to kill... Was the one his soul had already chose

Chapter 2 Forbidden Territory

Ryker's claws dug into the earth as Kael's gaze pinned him in place. The wind shifted, carrying a low hum that only wolves could hear-the subtle thrum of tension, of power colliding.

"You think you can just defy me?" Kael's voice was smooth, dangerous, a predator savoring the chase.

swallowed hard, refusing to back down. "I don't fear you, Kael. You may command the North, but you will not command me."

A slow, cruel smile curved Kael's lips. "Is that so?" His presence pressed against Ryker, heavy and suffocating, making the air between them shimmer with an electric heat. "Because you don't understand what this... bond... will do to you."

Ryker's heart thundered. That word again. Bond. Something innate, primal, impossible to fight. Every fiber of his being wanted to run. Every fiber of his being wanted to stay.

"You think I care about bonds?" Ryker growled, yet the truth rang bitter in his throat. He cared-more than he dared admit.

Kael's eyes darkened. He stepped closer, so close Ryker could feel the warmth of his breath. "You already care. You feel it, don't you? That pull... that hunger?"

Ryker wanted to deny it. Wanted to strike him down before desire could root itself in his heart. But the second Kael's hand brushed against his chest, the Alpha's touch sent fire racing through him.

Ryker's fangs itched, his claws trembled-but not from anger. From need.

"Stay away," Ryker whispered, though every inch of him screamed to do the opposite.

Kael tilted his head, eyes glinting with amusement and something darker. "And yet... you haven't moved away. You're mine, Ryker Storm. Whether you accept it or not."

Ryker's world spun. Rage and desire tangled inside him like two feral wolves locked in battle. One could destroy him. The other could save him. And he didn't know which he wanted.

A low growl rumbled deep in Kael's chest. "Tonight," Kael said, his voice almost a purr. "I claim what's already mine."

Ryker's knees threatened to give out, but he stood firm. "Not tonight. Not like this."

Tyler's eyes softened-just for a heartbeat. "There is no 'like this,' Ryker. There's only us... and the storm that comes with it."

The wind howled through the trees. Shadows danced around them. And for the first time, Ryker wondered if destiny had been hunting him all along-until it led him here, to the Alpha he was meant to kill.

Chapter 3 The first bite

The forest was silent-too silent. Every leaf, every shadow seemed to pulse with the unspoken tension between them. Ryker's muscles coiled, ready for attack, yet he couldn't tear his eyes away from Kael.

Kael stepped closer, his presence overwhelming. Every step he took made the air heavier, thicker with heat and power. Ryker's chest tightened, heart hammering against his ribs.

"You fight it," Kael said softly, almost a whisper. "But you can't. You never could."

Ryker's jaw clenched. "I fight for my pack. For my honor. Not... this." He gestured between them, though his hands shook with desire he couldn't name.

Kael's eyes glimmered, dark and predatory. "Your pack will understand... eventually. But me? You've already chosen me. I can see it in you."

A growl erupted deep in Ryker's chest-not from anger, but from the raw, untamed need rising inside him. He wanted to resist. He wanted to fight. And yet... he couldn't.

Kael reached out, brushing a lock of hair from Ryker's face. The touch sent fire racing through every nerve. "Your scent," Kael murmured, leaning closer. "It's mine. Every heartbeat, every breath-you belong to me whether you like it or not."

Ryker's knees threatened to buckle. "I-"

Kael silenced him with a hand pressed to his chest. "Shh... no words. Just feel."

Then Kael's lips were on his neck-a light, almost torturous brush. The sensation made Ryker shiver, his body betraying him with every inch of desire. Kael's fangs grazed his skin, leaving a sharp sting that sent a shockwave of need through him.

"Do you feel it?" Kael whispered against him. "This bond... this hunger?"

Ryker could barely breathe. "Yes..." he admitted, his voice breaking. "Yes, I feel it."

Kael's hands gripped him firmly, holding him in place. "Good. Then you'll survive the night... if you let me guide you."

Ryker's pulse raced. He wanted to run. He wanted to fight. And yet, in that instant, he realized the truth: the Alpha he had been trained to kill had already claimed him.

Kael's fangs pressed lightly against his neck again-a warning, a promise, a first bite of what was to come.

And Ryker knew, with terrifying clarity, that once the bond ignited, there would be no turning back.
