A family with honour and dignity will always be respected by those who are their subordinates
One good thing about Alpha and his Luna is that people have testified about their lifestyle
Those who are close to them and those who have experienced them were the people commending them.
I do not know how they operate because I don't have access to them. What will a poor orphan do with such a renowned family?
I kept my ears open to listen so that I could at least know what was happening.
It was a special day for all pack members. The breeze in the air felt deeper than normal.
I didn't know but I think it was because of Alpha's son's birthday.
Andrew White, the next Alpha in line, was turning twenty-five, and that meant he would finally find his mate.
The whole pack was in a frenzy, wondering who would end up becoming his mate, because automatically that person would become the Luna of the pack.
Mothers were busy dolling their daughters up and getting them ready for the night, just in case their daughter became Andrew's mate.
I really felt like they were making too much of a fuss about it, because this was Andrew White we were talking about.
He was the most notorious player in the whole of the pack. He changed girls like he changed his stinky boxers.
He can't go out without a girl for more than a week, and mostly uses them for sex.
Why would anyone be happy that the Moon goddess would mate them with such an asshole? I really didn't understand.
The Alpha had made the ceremony compulsory for every young girl over the age of eighteen to attend, so there was no avoiding it.
Even my uncle and his wife, Wendy had told me to be there when it was time, because they didn't want to disobey the Alpha, when normally they would have locked me up in my room.
My uncle Justin, who was my mother's younger brother, had taken me in to live in the Blue Moon pack with him after my parents had died in a car accident when I was still very young.
I had been happy that someone was kind enough to take me in, but that feeling quickly changed.
My uncle's wife, Wendy, hated me because they had no children.
She said that seeing me reminded her of her inability to bear children and would sometimes hit me just to let out her anger.
That feeling quickly changed as she later felt that l was a witch or cursed. She would say that I had killed my parents and had made her infertile.
A wolf being infertile was a very rare situation. It was something that didn't often happen, so there was no solution or cure.
My uncle loved his mate very much, and because my uncle loved her, he treated me badly to satisfy her.
I never held their maltreatment against them, because I felt like I just had some really bad karma, which was why bad things kept happening to me.
I had gotten three part-time jobs to take care of myself because they never spent a dime on anything concerning me apart from my education.
Sometimes when I was paid, Wendy would collect the money from me saying that it was what I had to pay to live freely in her house. I always let it go without any fight.
I was at one of my part-time jobs at a popular diner in town where I worked as a waitress, when a group of girls walked in. I rolled my eyes as l sighed, already knowing who they were from the sound of their laughs.
They were loud and sat at a corner in the diner, but didn't stop giggling and disturbing the other customers.
I walked over to them to take their orders when I finally noticed who they were.
They called themselves the Blue and Blonde sisters. I knew because we all attended the same school.
I just called them the B and B sisters, which stood for Bimbo and Bitchy sisters.
They were a group of five friends who all had blonde hair and blue eyes that made them look like quintuplets.
I'm not even joking, they practically all looked alike because they even dress the same way.
Among them was Eve Adams, the snobbiest of them all and the apparent leader of their group.
Her long blonde hair fell over their shoulder, doing nothing to cover her breasts that were practically pouring out from her dress.
She was the best example of a bimbo. Like if you searched bimbo online, her picture should be what immediately pops up, I'm not even joking.
She dresses like a walking traffic light. What's with all the bright colors?
What made her attitude worse was the fact that all the young boys in our pack were after her because, apparently, boys nowadays think with their dicks and not their brains.
They were all stupid. She didn't pay any mind to them because she was too busy taking Andrew's dick all the time that she had little to no space in her head for any other thing.
This sole reason made her the worst, most annoying person to be around, and her friend encouraged it.
"What would you like to order?" | asked in a very bored voice as I stood there waiting for them to make up their minds.
"Wait a minute, aren't you Alice, Awkward Alice?" Celine, one of them asked and my gaze turned into a glare.
Stupid bitches.
"That's true. It's so nice to see you again, awkward. We had such good times together, with you falling all the time. I always wondered why you were so awkward."
Eve chipped in, giving me a fake bright smile, while the rest of them laughed.
I clenched my fist at the mention of the nickname I was given in high school. I wasn't clumsy.
They called me that because they had always tripped me in the hallways of our high school whenever I passed by them, especially Eve, and thus the birth of the stupid nickname.
I ignored them because I hated them.
After laughing amongst themselves and taking what felt like an eternity, they finally made their orders, but not without confusing the hell out of me with their annoying voices.
I walked past Cole and Avery, who gave me a knowing look, my co-workers, and went into the kitchen to give their orders to Dave, the chef and owner of the diner, and sighed as I rested on a table.
Dave was a man in his late forties and had been nice enough to give me a job at his diner after he noticed the situation with my uncle and his wife.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing much, just tired." I smiled weakly at him.
"Are you sure?" He asked and I nodded, thinking of how I would handle the problem that was the B and B sisters waiting outside.
I knew for sure that it wasn't going to end well.
I went back outside with some of their orders in my hands to drop at their table when I heard their conversation.
"You're so definitely going to be Andrew's mate, I can feel it." One of the sisters said, demonstrating her excitement with her whole body.
"Oh, I know. When he walks up to me, I'm just going to act shocked like l didn't expect it.
We should hurry up and get back so we can get ready." I held back my laugh but mocked them silently.
You both would be a great match, an asshole and a bitch. A perfect couple.
"I can't wait to see the look on the other girls' faces when I become his mate" I couldn't hold back my laugh any longer.
It came out without my consent.
"Did you just laugh at me?" Eve accused.
"I'm really sorry, I just happened to hear someone say something quite ridiculous, that's all."
"And what's ridiculous about what l said?"
"I never said it was you, but if you insist, be my guest." I shrugged.
"You sound so stupid giving yourself so much hope when you actually know deep inside that you're just a cum dump for Andrew.
Even if he had the chance to choose his mate, trust me when I say he would never, ever choose a bimbo bitch like you."
I knew I had hit the right spot and I was proud of myself.
What I didn't know was what she would do next. I watched her as she picked up her cup of chocolate milk and poured it on my head.
I thought of slapping her but remembered it was against the rules. In school those days, I knew I had once beaten her up.
She had not formed the so-called click then. I knew I still could beat her again.
Except for sleeping around with different men, Eve has no strength.
I stood there shocked, but kind of expecting it as I watched Eve walk out of the diner, the rest of the sisters following behind her, while glaring at me.
I turned around to see Dave standing there, arms crossed.
I smiled mischievously at him and he sighed. It's not my fault they can't take a joke.
"Just pack your bag and go home. It's almost time for Andrew's ceremony, go get ready."
He shook his head and walked away. I stuck my tongue out and licked some of the chocolate milk that had gotten on my face.
What a waste. I looked around to see the other people in the diner staring at me, some confused, some disgusted, and a few amused. I just shrugged and strutted back to the locker room to get my bag.
"What did you do?" Avery said, shocked when she saw the state she was in.
"Well, I was just trying to advise someone, but they just didn't get it and got angry." I shrugged.
"You always get yourself in trouble one way or the other. Get home safely." She said, walking out of the locker room.
I packed my bag and walked home, with the chocolate milk dripping from my hair and clothes.
Even though my house was quite far, I couldn't afford to spend any money on the bus, that's why I chose to walk.
People stared at me weirdly and tried to stay away from me, but I didn't care; it was just chocolate milk.
Haven't you guys seen anyone drenched in chocolate milk before?
When I got home, Justin and Wendy weren't at home, so that was one good thing that had happened that day they were probably already at the ceremony. I rushed into the bathroom.
I really didn't know how long it would take for me to get the chocolate milk smell out of my hair and I had to wash my clothes so Whiny Wendy wouldn't scream the house down when she got back.
I laughed at my own joke. I had made up the nickname for her because she always whined and sounded like a dying fish whenever she screamed.
I don't actually know what dying fish sound like, but it didn't matter.
I put my clothes in the washing machine, before leaving to take my bath. I scrubbed and scrubbed my hair with shampoo, but the chocolate smell still wasn't coming out.
I eventually gave up and walked out of the bathroom to check my clothes in the washing machine. I quickly put them in the dryer and went to my room to dress up.
I didn't have many nice clothes, so I just wore the only short dress that I had.
I quickly made my blonde, almost white hair and stood in front of the mirror after getting my clothes out of the dryer, trying to make myself look presentable.
I didn't look all that but it was basically the prettiest I had ever looked.
It's not like I'm going to see the Moon goddess or something.
The sitting room door was jammed; I forgot to be careful with it. While opening it, it got locked up.
I got confused about what to do next. I sat back, thinking of what my next line of action will be.
The key I had was the back, and it was jammed and locked when the keys were outside.
I blame myself for being so stupid for not having removed the keys from the hole just because I was rushing as if anyone could notice my presence.
Sitting on the couch, I dozed off. I woke up realizing it was already late and the choice had been made. If I don't go I will be in trouble.
The best way to register my presence no matter what. If I fail to do so, Wendy will skin me alive.
Through my uncle's bedroom, the window wasn't locked and I could move out from there,
I did my best climbing so that they wouldn't notice that I passed through there. My passage was successful, and I accomplished the mission of getting back the keys I left in the keyhole outside.
I quickly left the house and locked the door behind me. I walked as fast as I could because I didn't want to be caught disobeying the Alpha's orders. I already had too much on my plate.
When I finally got there, I saw that the entrance was beautifully decorated with fairy lights. It looked so beautiful.
I heard a lot of noise coming from inside the pack square, so I went in, curious as to what was going on.
I looked to the side and saw her crying in her beautiful red dress, the rest of her B and B sisters, comforting her.
I was surprised at first, but I quickly guessed what was going on. She wasn't Andrew's mate. I let out a laugh that drew the attention of so many.
Well deserved, bitch. I looked at them again; their faces were not good at all. It was like the world had turned against them.
They belong to a notorious group whose intention was to talk down on people who are not willing to join them.
They drive around town like the other girls don't exist. Back in those days in school, they were no better than I was in class.
I assist them in doing most of their class assignments. Just because my parents died untimely, denying me the opportunity to study to be a medical doctor.
The most annoying amongst them is Eve; teachers usually scold her for her poor performance. She wants to be Andrew's mate and future Luna.
One who can't stand the crowd to speak fluently wants to be the future Luna. It is disgusting.
I scoffed and moved farther into the group of people gathered. Instead of happy faces, all I was seeing were confused, shocked, and sad faces.
"Please could you tell me what is going on?" I asked the lady who was standing next to me.
"It seems like Andrew didn't find his mate."
I was shocked. I had expected everything but that. How was that possible? The people would be shocked and might revolt, because it was a bad omen.
"So what's the next line of action?"
I tried to find out from the other slim girl who was holding hands with the one who responded to me.
"His father will make a speech; it hasn't happened before. Maybe a new date will be given for selection."
She spoke as she knew much about the process. I looked forward and saw Andrew, where he was seated, like he didn't care.
While I was digesting the answers given to me, my phone started ringing. It was Avery.
My heart started pounding uncontrollably. My hands were shaky to pick up the call.
I excused myself from the crowd to avoid them noticing what was happening. I managed to pick.
"Take an available taxi to the workplace now, there's an emergency."
Avery hung on. It appears that something was wrong and needed urgent attention. I walked down to the gate of the park to get myself a taxi.
"No young lady should leave the premises; selection will resume and be concluded today.
All the young girls at home must come over for the process to come to an end."
That was the voice of Alpha's spokesperson. Everyone knows his voice whenever he makes an announcement.
"Where are you heading? Didn't you hear the announcement?"
A strange voice spoke to me. I looked around to know who was talking. It was a middle-aged woman, coming with her daughter.
I tried to ignore her but she called me by my name.
I pretended like I wanted to talk to someone on the phone so she could go her way.
"What if she reports me to the authorities? What if she tells my uncle and my wife that she saw me going home?"
My questions had no answers. My attention was to go and see what was happening at my workplace.
Looking to my left, a taxi came and I stopped it. He moved his car when I entered. Speeding up as I instructed him.
My ringing tone pumped out, and my mind was that Avery was calling to find out why I hadn't gotten to the place. Without looking I picked.
"You must be mad for not being here. If I get fined, you will see the other side of me, and I will not spare you this time."
That was the voice of Wendy. She was calling with a different line, presuming I wasn't going to pick up her calls if she called with her number.
A few miles before I get to my workplace. Confusion came over my head.
"Driver, stop, reverse, and take me back to where you picked me."
I ordered the driver who was on a high speed.
"I have a few seconds to get to your destination. Pay me first before I can reverse."
He said as he slowly stopped, I realized that I had sent Avery a text who assured me of paying the cabman.
I was having an argument with the driver when a colleague passed.
"The manager is mad at you, quickly go and answer for yourself."
Elvis' words worsened the situation for me. I begged the man to take me to the front of my place of work or allow me to go get his money he refused.
I turned around to see Avery who brought him some money.
"Have your money, but wait, you are taking her back."
Avery handed him some money; he started the car and moved towards us while we were running to see the manager.
"You didn't sign your reports before going. The manager will always frown at it, but I begged on your behalf."
My mind was a bit calm hearing from Avery. I rushed to the manager's office.
"Append your signatures and leave immediately. I was told you guys have an important event."
The manager said handing over the biro to me. I signed immediately and rushed out to the cab waiting for me.
I jumped into the cab and he drove away on the speed lane. I didn't remember to say even a thank you to the manager and Avery.
Wendy must have been looking around to see me. Who knows if the event was over?
The chosen mate will be happy, but I don't feel jealous of her because Andrew isn't worth it. He sleeps around with many girls.
Those were things I was meditating about. In a few minutes, the driver was at the gate. I jumped out of the car, ran into the pack looking confused
I sat on a chair trying to catch my breath. The crowd was more than what I saw before I left.
All of a sudden, a sweet smell reached my nose, and my normally quiet wolf, Adelaide, started whining in my head, trying to force her way out. I was really confused as I looked around.
Through my confusion, I noticed that all the people around me had moved away and were looking in a particular direction.
I looked there too, and then I noticed Andrew walking towards me, his eyes set on me. The sweet smell was getting stronger with every step he took, and my heart was pounding faster.
I wanted to step back, but something held me in place.
When he reached where I was and stood right in front of me, he brought his face closer, sniffing me. He was shocked by his next words.
