Kira's pov
I could feel them staring. Their eyes followed me as soon as I stepped through the gates of Crescent Moon Academy. I told myself this was supposed to be a fresh start, a new beginning. But deep down, I knew it wouldn't be that simple.
I've always known I'm beautiful. People used to say I had an hourglass shape that would turn heads anywhere. But today, they weren't looking at me because of that. They were looking because they all knew the same thing-I was the Alpha's abandoned daughter. The whispers confirmed it as I moved through the hallway, and my wolf senses picked up every word, even if they tried to keep their voices low.
"That's her, right? The one the Alpha left behind..."
"She thinks she can just walk in here like nothing happened."
I kept my head high, ignoring them. I wasn't here to make friends or worry about what they thought. I had a mission-finish school and move on with my life. Nothing more, nothing less.
But as I got closer to my locker, I sensed something was off. My wolf stirred inside me, alert. That's when I felt it-a hard shove from behind. Someone had pushed me. I stumbled but didn't fall, thanks to my reflexes kicking in just in time.
"Wow!" one of the students muttered in surprise. "Did you see that? She didn't even hit the ground."
I turned slowly to face my attacker. It was Claire. Of course, it was Claire. The daughter of the Nightfall pack leader. Her friends stood behind her, all smirking, enjoying the scene.
"You can't just walk around here like you own the place," Claire said, crossing her arms with a smug look on her face.
"Who does she think she is?" one of her friends chimed in, tossing her hair back dramatically.
"Oh, wait," another one of Claire's minions added, pretending to think hard. "Isn't she the Alpha's abandoned daughter?"
That sent them all into fits of laughter. Claire's face lit up as if she'd just won something. But their words didn't sting the way they wanted them to. They didn't know me, and they didn't know my story.
I kept my expression neutral, refusing to give them the satisfaction of a reaction. I wasn't here to impress anyone. And I definitely wasn't here to befriend Claire or her little circle. I had one goal-graduate. Nothing else mattered.
I forced myself to stay calm as I picked up my bag from the ground. The scuffle with Claire had left me rattled, but I wasn't going to let her see that. I headed toward my locker, trying to ignore the murmurs and laughter that followed me.
"Why don't you just go back to wherever you came from?" Claire's voice echoed behind me, sharp and biting.
I tightened my grip on my bag, my fingers digging into the straps. I could hear one of Claire's friends say, "We need to make her understand she's nothing."
I took a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves. "If you believe I'm nothing, then pretend you don't see me," I said, my voice steady despite the anger bubbling inside.
Claire shoved me against the locker, the metal surface cold against my back. "You're not in a position to tell me how I should treat you," she said, her eyes flashing with annoyance.
I wanted to push back, to let her know I wouldn't be pushed around. But I knew it would only make things worse. I was about to say something when a tall, handsome figure appeared behind Claire.
"What's going on here?" Jaxon Lycroft asked, his voice smooth and commanding. He leaned in and kissed Claire on the lips, making it clear they were a couple.
Claire smiled, clearly pleased with the attention. "Just welcoming the new girl," she replied, but her gaze remained on me.
I'd heard rumors about Claire and Jaxon dating, but seeing them together confirmed it. Jaxon's eyes, however, weren't on Claire. They were fixed on me, specifically my hips. I felt a flush of discomfort but tried to ignore it.
"Leave her alone," Jaxon said, his tone casual but authoritative. "We don't need to start drama on the first day."
Claire's smile faltered. "But Jaxon, she-"
"I said, leave her alone," Jaxon interrupted, his tone leaving no room for argument.
Claire's lips pressed into a thin line as she gave me one last, resentful look before turning away, her friends trailing after her. Jaxon's gaze remained on me for a moment longer, before he turned and followed Claire.
I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding. It wasn't over yet, but at least for now, I had a moment of peace. I opened my locker and tried to focus on the task at hand. It was clear this school year wasn't going to be as straightforward as I had hoped.
Throughout the day, I couldn't shake the feeling that Jaxon's eyes were on me. Whenever I glanced in his direction, I'd catch him staring. I wasn't about to let his attention distract me. I had my own mission to focus on, one that had nothing to do with high school drama.
Finally, the last bell rang, signaling the end of the school day. I gathered my things, mentally preparing for the tasks ahead with the Secret Assassination Group I was part of. My mind was consumed with strategies and plans for executing the mission assigned to me.
As I stepped out of the school gate, I heard someone call my name. "Hey, new girl!" Jaxon's voice rang out behind me. I turned to see him running toward me, his face flushed from exertion.
"Hope you enjoyed the school environment?" he asked, trying to sound casual. I could see through his attempt to play it cool. He was clearly interested in more than just casual conversation.
"Jaxon, I don't have time for friends, let alone a drink with you," I said, my tone clipped. I didn't have time to entertain any of his advances or distractions.
Jaxon looked surprised. "How did you know what I was about to say?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
I didn't respond. Instead, I turned and walked away, ignoring his confused expression. I had more important things to think about than Jaxon's attempts at friendly chatter. My focus was on my mission and staying under the radar.
The mission tonight was crucial. I had been assigned to eliminate the leader of the Savage Night Pack, a group notorious for dealing hard drugs. The location had already been provided to me, and I knew exactly where to go.
As night fell, I suited up, preparing for the task ahead. I slipped into the woods, my wolf senses sharpening as I picked up speed. The trees blurred past me as I ran, focused on reaching my destination.
When I arrived at the location, I paused at a distance, using my wolf sight to survey the area. I was taken aback by what I saw. Jaxon was there, along with his twin brother Kane. They were standing right in the middle of the target location.
But what really stunned me was the revelation that Jaxon was the leader of the Savage Night Pack-the very person I was supposed to eliminate. My heart pounded as I tried to process this new information. Jaxon wasn't just some high school heartthrob; he was a dangerous criminal I was meant to take down.
Suddenly A voice-cold and clear-rang through my mind. It was unlike anything I had ever heard before. It wasn't just in my head. It felt like it was echoing through the air itself, a command I couldn't ignore.
"You are bound to both, each representing a part of your destiny. One will be your protector, the other your true mate. Embrace both connections with wisdom and grace, for you hold the power to balance their strengths and guide them with your heart."
Now the problem is, how am I going to identify who the true mate is among the both of them? Because it was clearly said that one of them is my protector and the other is my true mate.
Jason's pov
To the outside world, I was just another top student at Crescent Moon Academy-smart, wealthy, and adored by many. My grades were impeccable, and the teachers always treated me with respect, almost like I could do no wrong. But that was just the surface. No one really knew what went on beyond the school gates.
What most people didn't know was that I came from a family tied to a dark past. My siblings, Kane and Emma, and I had survived an attack that wiped out our original pack. That night, everything changed. We lost our friends, our first home, everything we once knew. After the attack, we joined the Bloodhowl Clan, a pack that operated under the radar, dealing with more than just pack business. It didn't take long for us to figure out that the Savage Night Pack was involved in the hard drug trade.
Leaving wasn't an option. We were stuck. But over time, we grew to accept it-maybe even enjoy it. There was a power that came with running things behind the scenes, with holding control over something dangerous and forbidden. And as it turned out, I had a knack for leading.
When the former Alpha of Bloodhowl died, the pack needed someone new to take charge. Thanks to my intelligence and the way I handled myself in both school and pack matters, they chose me. I became their Alpha.
It was a role I never expected but had no choice but to accept. It wasn't just about the drugs. It was about survival, about making sure that what happened to my former pack never happened again.
Everything in my life had been steady. Things got a lot more interesting when Kira, the one girl I had always admired from a distance, walked into Crescent Moon Academy. I had watched her for years, but there was always something keeping me from approaching her. Maybe it was because her father, an Alpha of one of the most powerful packs in California, made it impossible for anyone to get close to her. He was untouchable, and so was she.
But everything changed the night the Moonshadow Pack attacked. Out of nowhere, they raided Kira's pack, and the attack left everyone shocked. No one could understand why it happened. Packs had rivalries, but this felt different-like something personal.
What surprised me the most, though, was Kira's father. The great Alpha who was supposed to be invincible turned out to be a coward. When the battle got too intense, he ran. He left his people behind, abandoned his daughter without a second thought, and fled. It was a move no Alpha should ever make, and it shook the werewolf community.
As terrible as it was, that incident created an opening for me. For months, I had been thinking of ways to get close to Kira, but she had always been out of reach. Now, things were different. The daughter of the once mighty Alpha had fallen from grace, and today she stepped into my school, no longer shielded by her father's power.
The moment she walked through those doors, I knew it was my chance. The one I'd been waiting for.
I was on the second floor of the school building, chatting with a few friends when one of them pointed out the window. "Isn't that the abandoned Alpha's daughter?" he said.
I saw Kira differently. To me, she wasn't just the daughter of a fallen Alpha. Every bit of a body is captivating in every way. The size of her breasts, her hips, the tiny waist, her beauty-everything about her was amazing. She had the looks, the strength, a mate, and the aura of a leader. She as everything I want in a lady
Suddenly, the hallway below erupted in noise. "Claire and the new girl are fighting!" someone shouted, running up the stairs.
Claire's reaction wasn't surprising. She's always been obsessed with being on top. As the most popular girl at school, she couldn't stand anyone who might overshadow her. Kira's arrival, with her powerful lineage and striking appearance, was a direct challenge to Claire's dominance.
I couldn't help but feel intrigued. Kira was more than just a threat to Claire; she was someone I wanted to understand better, and also want to myself alone.
After saving Kira from Claire's bullying, I couldn't help but keep my eyes on her. There was something about Kira that always drew me in. The relationship I had with Claire was never real. It was all a façade, something Claire suggested, and I just went along with it to pass the time. She was convenient, but she was never the one I wanted.
Now that Kira, the girl I had secretly admired for so long, was right here at Crescent Moon Academy, I felt like the time had come to stop pretending with Claire. I needed to let go of that meaningless connection. Kira had always been different, someone who stood out in a way no other girl ever had.
After school, I thought I might try my luck, see if Kira would be interested in going out with me. No girl had ever turned me down before. Every girl in school wanted to go out with me. But Kira? She didn't even hesitate. She just shut me down, like I didn't matter. It was strange... no one had ever made me feel that way before.
That night, my pack and I had a mission. We were planning to hit a drug lord known as "The Chemist." The plan was to steal from him-his drugs, his money-and use what we took to help the less fortunate. It wasn't just about power; it was about making a difference in our own way.
We were positioned around the marked location, waiting for the right moment to strike. As we waited in the woods, everything seemed quiet. Too quiet. My instincts told me that something was off. I wasn't the only one who felt it. Kane and the others looked tense, scanning the area like we were being watched.
"We're not alone," Kane muttered, his voice low but serious.
I felt it too. My wolf senses were on high alert, every sound in the woods seemed amplified. And then, I heard something."You are her fated mate, destined by the Moon. Her heart and soul are tied to yours in a bond that transcends the physical. Together, you will find strength in each other, and your connection will shape the future of your lives. Cherish and honor this bond."
The words echoed in my head, making my heart race. But just as I was trying to process what I had heard, Kane turned to me, his face pale, his eyes wide.
"I heard something," he whispered. "The moon spirit... whomever is within that wood is my mate."
Before I could even react, there was movement in the trees ahead. We all froze. Someone was there, watching us. Then, from the shadows, Kira stepped forward, her expression as shocked as mine.
She looked at us with wide eyes, clearly not expecting to see us here either. But I couldn't focus on anything else. My heart pounded as I realized what this meant. Not only had Kane heard the voice, but I had too. And now, here was Kira, standing in front of us like fate had just dropped her in our path.
Kira looked as surprised as we were, like she didn't understand what was happening either. The air between us felt heavy with tension, confusion swirling in my mind. How could this be? Why was she here? And why had the Moon chosen both me and Kane?
I glanced at Kane, who was just as confused. He had heard the spirit too, but only one of us could be Kira's mate. Right? But now, seeing her standing there, the reality of the situation was beginning to hit harder than ever.
Kira's pov
I could barely focus as I walked back home from the woods. My heart was racing, my mind spinning, and everything felt upside down. Jaxon and Kane, of all people, were connected to me. Mates, the moon spirit had said. It didn't make sense. The two guys who led the pack my assassin group despised-how could I be linked to them?
I reached my house, shut the door behind me, and leaned against it, letting out a shaky breath. There was no way I could let this happen. I had a mission, and being tied to Jaxon and Kane would only make things more complicated. They were enemies, dangerous leaders of a pack that dealt in drugs and chaos. How could the moon spirit expect me to bond with them?
I knew what I had to do. Stay far away from both of them. Fate or not, I wasn't going to let this bond control me.
The next day at school, I tried to act normal. I kept my head down and focused on my classes, hoping that Jaxon and Kane would leave me alone. But I could feel Jaxon's eyes on me all day. Every time I looked up, there he was, watching me. I knew he wanted to talk, but I wasn't interested.
As the final bell rang, I hurried out of the classroom, hoping to escape before either of them could catch me. But I wasn't fast enough.
"Kira, wait!" I heard Jaxon's voice behind me.
I stopped but didn't turn around. "What do you want, Jaxon?" I asked, my voice cold.
He caught up to me, slightly out of breath. "We need to talk. About yesterday."
I turned to face him, crossing my arms. "There's nothing to talk about."
Jaxon ran a hand through his hair, looking frustrated. "You don't understand. The moon spirit-what we heard-it's real. You're-"
"I know what I am," I snapped. "But I don't care. You and Kane are enemies of my group. There's no way I'm letting this bond happen. You're dangerous, Jaxon."
He looked at me with an intensity that made me uncomfortable. "We didn't choose this, Kira. The moon spirit chose us. We're bound."
"I don't care!" I interrupted, stepping back. "You think just because some mystical voice said we're mates, I'm going to forget everything? Your pack deals in drugs. You and Kane are the reason innocent people get hurt. I don't want any part of that."
Jaxon's jaw tightened. "It's not that simple. You don't know the full story."
"And I don't want to," I said, my voice firm. "Stay away from me, Jaxon."
I turned to walk away, but he grabbed my arm gently. "Kira, please. Just listen to me."
I shook my head, pulling my arm free. "I'm not interested, Jaxon. Whatever you're trying to explain won't change the fact that you and your brother are enemies. Stay out of my way, or this will get worse for all of us."
Later that night, as I sat on my bed, I couldn't shake the encounter. My chest was tight, and my mind kept replaying his words. Bound by the moon. How could I escape something like that? But no matter how strong the connection felt, I wasn't going to let it ruin my mission.
I had to stay focused. No matter what.
The next day at school, things were tense. Kane hadn't said anything to me, but I could feel his presence too. He kept his distance, watching but not approaching. I was grateful for that.
But Jaxon, on the other hand, wasn't giving up.
As I walked down the hallway between classes, I heard his voice again.
"Kira, we need to talk."
I sighed and stopped. "I already told you, Jaxon. There's nothing to talk about."
He stepped in front of me, his expression serious. "I'm not the enemy here."
I looked him straight in the eye. "You are. You and Kane are everything I stand against. Don't you get that?"
Jaxon's gaze softened. "You don't know why we do what we do. We're not just selling drugs for profit, Kira. There's more to it than that."
I raised an eyebrow. "Oh, really? So selling drugs and leading a dangerous pack is suddenly justified?"
His voice lowered. "We help people, too. You wouldn't understand. We only took over the pack because we had no choice. If we didn't, more people would've died."
I shook my head. "You expect me to believe that? You're still the same dangerous guy I've always known, and I'm not falling for your story."
He reached out, but I stepped back, putting distance between us.
"You're making a mistake, Kira," he said, his voice almost pleading.
"No, Jaxon," I replied, my voice hard. "The only mistake would be letting myself get involved with you."
And with that, I walked away, determined to keep him and Kane out of my life.
Later that day, as I packed my things in the locker room, I was interrupted by Claire, her usual smug expression plastered on her face. She stood in front of me, blocking my way.
"I heard about the Luna declaration," she sneered, crossing her arms. "Let me make one thing clear, Kira. Stay away from my boyfriend."
I let out a frustrated sigh. "Claire, I don't even like Jaxon. You don't have to worry about me."
She narrowed her eyes, clearly not believing me. "I don't care what you say. Just stay out of my way."
"Believe what you want," I said, grabbing my bag and pushing past her. "I have bigger things to worry about than your petty drama."
As the school day finally came to an end, I walked out of the building, relieved to be free of the chaos inside. But then, to my surprise, standing just outside the school gate was Kane. His presence was unexpected, and for a moment, I considered turning the other way.
But before I could act, he called out to me.
"The moon spirit never told me I was your true mate," Kane said, his voice calm but firm as he stepped closer.
I stopped in my tracks and stared at him, confused. "Then what did it say?"
"I was told to protect you," Kane replied, looking me directly in the eyes.
"I don't need your protection," I shot back, crossing my arms defensively. "I can take care of myself."
Kane shook his head, a hint of concern flickering in his eyes. "You do, Kira. Because what's coming for you... it's bigger than you can handle alone."
I felt a chill run down my spine, but I held my ground. "What are you talking about? What's coming for me?"
Kane took a deep breath, his gaze turning serious. "The Chemist. He's a powerful drug lord, and he feeds on werewolves like us."
My heart skipped a beat. I had heard whispers of the Chemist before, but to hear that he was coming for me? That was something I hadn't expected. For a brief moment, fear crept in, but I quickly masked it with defiance.
