Chapter 1 Birthday party

At Farrah's mansion - there is a birthday party for Cindy, the only daughter of Mr. Brian. He is the chairman of the Farrah Jewelry Group. In addition to the jewelry business, the company also invests in real estate and has branches abroad.

Mr. Brian is an influential man in the world of jewelry, so the guests at the party are famous executives in the upper class.

Niki - Farrah's housekeeper with Mrs. Ann - wife of Mr. Brian - standing in front of the gate bowed to greet these guests.

Guards strictly guard and make sure not to let anyone infiltrate inside.

The maids were busy with their work, some prepared the food, others decorated the party, and arranged the tables and chairs.

In a quiet room where the outside noises could not be penetrated, Cindy wore a beautiful red dress, the front part of the skirt was short to the knees, showing off her white legs, and the back part was pulled. endlessly long. The dress hugged her body tightly, revealing her sexy curves. Cindy wears yellow high heels, exuding smooth pink and white skin.

Cindy just turned 20 years old, beautiful, pure, and talented. On the surface, she looks weak, but she's not. She used to learn karate.

The dress that she is wearing is the dream of every girl in the world.

Cindy's family is very wealthy, her father and mother can give her anything she wants, including a house, car, and plane.

Cindy's life is not lacking in anything: bags, dresses, jewelry, credit cards... To protect her beloved daughter, Mr. Brian always has two bodyguards with her everywhere.

Cindy feels like god favors her over other girls. But, she is not happy living in a luxurious mansion. She always feels lonely.

Cindy's friends dare not talk to her, because they fear her noble status. Some other friends only know how to flatter and compliment her. They use the best words for her, treat Cindy well, and want to be close to her just for their own ends. Because her family is very rich.

To Cindy, they were fakers. However, she still had to smile, thanking them for their birthday wishes.

Cindy stops dancing when the music ends. She lifted her skirt and walked out into the hall to join the party.

This evening, Cindy was the standout. She had just come out of the door, all the lights were on her. With a smile on her face, she reluctantly nodded to them.

While everyone was having a good time, Cindy went out into the garden, because she didn't like noisy spaces.

Cindy sat on a swing full of roses, looking up at the moon in the night sky.

Suddenly, a voice rang out. "Today is your birthday, why do you look unhappy?"

The young man who just spoke was William Dennis - the only friend in Cindy's life, who could be called sincere. He's three years older than Cindy.

William is not like those fake people. He is kind and takes care of her. Someone she can trust. So no matter what, Cindy shares it with him.

Talk a little bit about William's background. In terms of wealth, the Dennis family ranks first, and the Farrahs come in second.

His father died five years ago, so his mother - Mrs. Sam is a banker of Dennis. William is the heir to the Dennis corporation but he doesn't want to follow the way his mother arranged. In fact, he has a club in the city center and is running it.

Cindy stood up, walked over, and hugged William excitedly. "I kept thinking you weren't coming."

"Your birthday, why didn't I come? Because of the traffic jam, I'm late. The party has just started. Tell me, why aren't you happy on your birthday? ?" William sat beside her.

"I don't like my current life one bit." Cindy sighed.

"Why? There are so many people who want to be in your position." William blinked and asked.

"I'm tired and stressed. As the daughter of a rich president, I always pay attention to my words. I have to eat this, I have to wear that. I can't have a life of my own. my will. Dress, house, car... I have it all but for what? I have no friends except you." Cindy looked inside the house - where everyone was happily chatting. "They're fake people. They flatter me all the time."

William put his hand on Cindy's shoulder. "You can't choose your destiny but you can create your own joy and change your life. Come on, don't be sad. Today is your birthday, cheer up. And guess what, I What gift to give you?"

Cindy pursed her lips and said. "A necklace."

William put on a sulky face because she guessed correctly. Cindy laughed. "Every time it's my birthday, you give me jewelry. Necklaces, rings, or earrings."

"You know me clearly." William took the square box from his shirt pocket and handed it to Cindy. "Open it, I guarantee you'll love it."

Cindy took the box and opened the lid. Her eyes widened as she looked at what was inside. "The 'Milky Way' necklace, there are only five in the world. It was really expensive, I really can't buy it. How did you get it?"

"My mom's a banker, there's nothing I can't buy. Do you like it?"

"Of course. I've been wanting 'Milky Way' for a long time. Thank you very much." Cindy said in a happy voice.

Her hobby is collecting shiny objects and filling her bedroom.

Born into a family of jewelry traders, Cindy inherited a passion for jewelry from her parents. She wants to be a jewelry designer like Cartier in the future. Cindy stared at the 'Milky Way', a smile forming on her face.

'Milky Way' is made of silver, shining beautifully, radiating cool energy, a combination of silver and Moonstone gemstones.

William looked at Cindy's smile, his heart melted in happiness. In fact, he has been secretly in love with her for a long time.

Handsome, rich, kind. Any girl wants to marry William, except Cindy.

To her, he is both a friend and a brother whom she can share at any time.

Chapter 2 Arranged marriage

The party ended. Everyone has returned. William said goodbye to Cindy and walked over to his car, which was parked outside the gate.

Waiting for the wheelchair to roll, Cindy turned inside the house. She replaced her current dress with a simple nightgown and climbed into bed.

Her birthday party this year is the same as every year, nothing has changed. Food is made from high-quality ingredients. Her friends still fake smiles at her, complimenting her with clichés. Only William's gift made her happy.

Cindy looked at 'Milky Way' again and then put it in a box, she put the box in the drawer. Lying for a while, Cindy felt thirsty, because she had eaten a lot of cakes earlier. She jumped up, got out of bed, opened her bedroom door, and went downstairs to the kitchen.

Cindy opened the refrigerator, pulled out a bottle of water, and drank it in one go. She put the other half of the water bottle in the refrigerator and went to her bedroom. As she passed her parents' room, she heard the voice of her mother - Mrs. Ann. "Married? Do you want Cindy to get married? But have you talked to her about this?"

Cindy's feet stopped. Of course, she would marry the man she loved, but not now. Now, she has a lot to deal with, one of which is to fulfill her dream.

"I'll tell you in a few days." Mr. Brian replied.

"But is it too early to get married now?"

"Cindy is twenty years old, she is of age to marry. She is the sole heir to the Farrah house. Later, I will leave the Farrah corporation to her and her husband to run."

"Who is Cindy's fiancé? Does she know?" Mrs. Ann asked, she was a bit unhappy.

"He's a perfect man. I've already planned this marriage."

Mrs. Ann's eyes widened, seemingly in disbelief. "You want her to marry a man she doesn't love? At least you have to consult Cindy. You can't just do that."

"Why not?" Mr. Brian stood up from his chair. "I do all this for her sake, moreover this marriage will be profitable for the company."

"I see. You just want to sell our baby to benefit your company." Mrs. Ann said sarcastically.

Arranged marriage? Cindy whispered in her throat. She felt dizzy, her legs unsteady.

Cindy doesn't know how she got back to the bedroom. The words of Mr. Brian kept spinning around in her mind.

She sat on the bed and began to think. 'Why does my father treat his daughter like this? Why can he force me to marry someone I don't love? I don't even know his face, don't know his name? Am I just a commodity for his business?'

The more she thought about it, the more resentful and helpless she became. That made her burst into tears but she could only cry in silence. Her tears fell onto her clenched hand, her other hand clutching the bed sheet.

All that night, Cindy could not sleep well, she kept rolling around in bed looking for the best solution to get out of this marriage.

Her life is hers, she has to decide for herself. Cindy won't let anyone control her life, even if it's her father.

---

This morning, Cindy had a class at university but she couldn't concentrate on the teacher's lecture. The words of Mr. Brian kept running around in her brain. Cindy thought of a few ways, but none of them worked.

First: Pretend to be sick. No. Cindy is healthy, who can believe she is sick? Her father would ask the doctor to come in and the doctor would tell the truth, that she was fine.

This is the stupidest way.

Second: Cindy will make the excuse that she is still studying. No. This only makes Mr. Brian temporarily postpone the wedding ceremony. After Cindy completes college, she will also have to deal with this arranged marriage.

The second way is not good either.

Cindy grabbed her by the hair, her brow furrowed and continued thinking. Her head is down so the teacher can't see.

Suddenly, Cindy heard a light chuckle from her friend sitting next to her. She is secretly reading a story.

Cindy leaned forward, to see the title. 'How did it make her laugh like that?'

The words 'Runaway Bride' caught Cindy's eyes. At first, she was unimpressed but then, she pondered.

A bold idea flashed through her mind. This is the only way to get her out of an arranged marriage.

She begins to plan her escape. 'First, I will do it like this, then it will be like this and finally, it will have to be like this.'

Cindy was delighted with her plan and couldn't stop smiling.

As soon as the bell rang, announcing the break time, Cindy called William immediately. Only he can help her in this situation. Her classmates don't trust her enough, and Cindy can't ask them to help her.

After the first ring, Cindy heard William's teasing tone on the other end of the line. "Hi, honey. You're in class, aren't you? Why are you calling me?"

Cindy rolled her eyes. "I'm on break. I told you not to call me honey. I'm not your lover."

"So, don't call me brother. I won't call you honey." William replied with a short laugh.

"But, you're like my brother. That doesn't change."

"I don't want to be your brother." William's tone carried a hint of sadness.

"You should know that it's an honor for you to be the brother of the beautiful, charming Cindy." Cindy chuckled.

William didn't answer, he just smiled at the picture of a girl in the picture frame. After a while, he asked. "So, pretty Cindy, you called me because... miss me?"

Cindy rolled her eyes. This guy is always joking.

Ignoring William's teasing, she said. "Five o'clock this afternoon, are you free? Let's meet, okay? At your house."

"You miss me so much that you want to see me in person at my house?" William pretended to be surprised, he was amused by teasing Cindy.

"Bastard. I'm being serious." Cindy hummed.

William stopped laughing because he noticed she looked angry on the other end of the line. He stopped teasing her and asked seriously. "What's up?"

"I have something very important to tell you."

"You made me curious. I want to know now."

"This can't be talked about over the phone. I need to meet you to talk in person. After school, I'll go to your house. Wait for me there. Don't go anywhere." Cindy said and then she ended the call without giving William a chance to answer.

William stared at the phone for a long moment before setting it down on the table. He took a picture of Cindy, caressing her face.

'How do you understand my feelings?'

There were many times when he showed affection for Cindy but she was naive and stupid to realize it.

'I've guessed the important thing you're going to say. Is it our arranged marriage?'

Chapter 3 Escape plan 1

From school, Cindy asks her driver to drive her to William's house.

When she got there, she rang the bell three times in a row. Not long after, William came out from inside and opened the door.

"You look rushed. What happened?" William pushed the gate aside as he asked her.

Cindy looked around, asking the two bodyguards to wait outside.

Into the living room, she said. "Maybe I'll run away from city X."

William was shocked, staring at her. "Run away? Why? What made you have this intention?"

'I hope it has nothing to do with an arranged marriage. I hope you're just joking.' He said in his heart.

Cindy glanced at William, who was still glued to her, and she faltered, then decided to tell him. "My father is planning to sell me for a commercial marriage to benefit his business. I can't marry someone I don't love, I don't even know his face. So I have to leave before my father's plan succeeds."

William sighed silently, his hope came true. His heart was broken into a million pieces.

How can he tell her that he is her fiancé?

"Hey, why are you so dazed? Can you hear me?" Cindy shook his shoulder.

William returned to reality. He frowned and asked. "I have. I ask this. If the man your father wants you to marry is also someone you know, then, would you agree?"

Cindy pursed her lips. "Who is that person? I think only my father knows. Even if I know him, I can't get married. Because love must come from two hearts."

William was heartbroken by what she said.

"Now only you can help me." Cindy pouted.

"But do you think about the consequences? Your father knows you ran away, he will be very angry, and he will ask the bodyguards to bring you back no matter where you are." William is concerned for her safety.

"I won't tell, you won't tell, my father won't know. This is only the two of us. Will you help me?"

William didn't answer, he looked at Cindy's lovely face. After a while, he stammered. "I..."

Unable to wait any longer, Cindy spoke up. "We're friends, I trust only you. You don't want to help me? Are you afraid of getting involved? You want to watch me suffer for the rest of my life marrying someone I don't love?"

William quickly shook his head. "I do not mean that."

"Help me, please. I need to get out of this marriage." Cindy offered a pair of puppy eyes for William's sympathy.

"What makes you believe I'll help you?" William asked.

"Uhm..." Cindy frowned as if she was pondering the best answer. "Because... I'm your best friend, you love me so much, understand me, you'll be upset when you see me in trouble."

William choked on hearing her words.

Right. This is his weakness, he easily softens when he sees how pitiful she is.

Without hearing his reply, Cindy kept thinking that he turned down her offer of help. So she stood up from her chair. "If you don't want to help me, I'll figure it out myself. If there's no way, I'll be forced to marry a stranger, burying my life in the dark. Either way, that's fate. mine." She acts like a pitiful person. "I'm leaving."

William then grabbed Cindy's wrist, holding her back. "Wait..."

She secretly smiled mischievously.

"Okay, I'll help you." William let out a breath.

Cindy wanted to scream but she knew she needed to hold back.

She turned, facing William, and asked again. "Really? You agree to help me?"

"Yes." William eventually gave up.

"Awesome," Cindy said cheerfully, she jumped up, hugging his neck. "I know you'll help me."

William smiled too, but it was a bitter smile.

This sounds ridiculous.

The fiancé helps his bride run away to get out of their marriage.

Should he be said to be stupid or noble?

William knows that Cindy doesn't love him. If marrying him will cause her pain, he'd rather accept himself as the one in pain, just to see a smile on her face.

Cindy sat down in a chair, whispering in his ear about her escape plan. "Until then, you just have to do what I say."

William frowned as he listened. "Are you really serious?"

"I'm sure." Cindy is very adamant.

'Leaving me, are you so happy?' William said quietly. 'Even though you hurt me, why can't I stop loving you?'

"Are you going to Y city?"

"Yes."

"How will you live? You have no relatives or friends in Y city?"

Cindy appeared calm. "Don't worry. I'm an adult, I know what I'm going to do. You just have to keep this a secret."

"But if your father asks, how do I know the answer?" William asked.

"You are smart, I believe you will explain to my father." Cindy winked at him.

William nodded. "Please promise me, when you settle down, you'll have to call me. Don't lose touch."

"I know, brother." Cindy flashed a bright smile. Then she picked up her bag and left William's house.

He watched Cindy's back, a bad feeling in his heart.

He guessed that after successfully helping her escape, she would be out of his life forever, and maybe he wouldn't be able to see her again in the future.

His heart tightened, and he reached out his hand to squeeze his chest.

Cindy never belonged to him, only this photo belongs to him.

William turned his head to look at the picture of Cindy on the table, his heart pierced through with a knife.

That evening, Cindy wrote a letter to her parents. She put important documents in a small bag, including her identity card, passport, and bank cards.

Cindy can't bring clothes, if she drags her suitcase out of the house, people will definitely question her.

She also can't run away at night, because her home's security is very strict. If you are not careful, the anti-theft devices will alarm and everyone will wake up. Sometimes she doesn't even know how to use the electronic devices in her house.

The only way, Cindy will have to resort to William's help.

Tomorrow morning, William will be here. Cindy will act like she's going shopping with him, and won't let the bodyguards come along.
