"Why don't you think about it more April. Your daughter is of age, my son is of age." For months billionaire Christopher White has been compelling Dr. April James to the said union. But the doctor has always been hesitant about the idea.
"Christopher, you know my daughter. That little brat won't give in." Answered April through gritted teeth. They have been friends for the longest time and April has been the White family's physician.
"She would if you talk to her," Christopher suggested raising his brows at April.
"Why are you so hell-bent on getting Dylan to marry Ellery. That girl won't do anything for your boy. She's a scandal, a little secret kept in the dark." April spoke showing all her hatred for her daughter. She then grabbed her wine and gulped the contents.
"You know my son. He's a playboy and only brings whores to my own house. I just want these families off my son."
"Is that your only reason?" April curiously asked. There seemed to be more to what Christopher was implying.
"I'd rather have Ellery for a daughter-in-law rather than some cheap gold-digger or some heiress who'd only use my son for their family's gain. I will not let it happen." The Whites are the wealthiest family in the country, Christopher being the wealthiest man for almost a decade. They hail from old money and their company has the most diversified conglomerates. If they were to marry their only heir to someone of wealth, it would only gain the other family's advantage.
"Ellery, she's barely home and keeps her time with that little circus of hers. Your son might need a leash to put on her neck."
"I've met your girl and she's a little dove. You should stop hating her April. She's the only family you have." Christopher shot, leaving April a little speechless on her sit.
April had always detested Ellery. She was born out of her affairs with politician Robert Martin. And since he was a public figure the child was treated as a scandal and a disgrace. April only remembers the hurt she felt when Robert didn't choose her every time she looks into Ellery's eyes.
"Come on April. If you get her to agree, I'll talk to the board and make you chief of doctors." April's eyes glistened when Christopher stated that. She had worked her whole life in the field of medicine, it being her first love, and being chief would only pay off the hard work she's endured throughout the years.
The Whites were a major shareholder at the Annabelle White Memorial Hospital, so Christopher could easily pull the strings for her.
"I'd rather have the small clan of James is married to the only heir of the Whites than someone who'll try to leech off our wealth."
"And what if they find out that she's the illegitimate child of Robert Martin. That would tarnish your family name."
"People won't find out as that corrupt official is good at cleaning up his mess. Plus, he's been on to me for the past couple of months, wanting me to be his sponsor for the upcoming elections. And I know where that would lead. He'll only use my name to embezzle money."
"You're going to use her as leverage?"
"Yes, but aside from that, she'll make a good wife to my son. There's no girl on this planet than I want than her. So please April."
April smiled at the thought. It donned to her that she'll finally be able to get rid of Ellery after 22 years. Maybe it wasn't such a bad idea after all.
"Fine. I'll talk to her. Make all the arrangements you need."
"You finally agree!" Christopher excitedly exclaimed. His powers of persuasion had finally broken the stubborn walls of April. "I will arrange an engagement dinner as soon as possible."
"I'll see to it that my daughter agrees to it."
April kept Ellery in hopes that Richard will choose them and finally become a family with them. But in the end, he chose to stay with his wife Sylvia, leaving April devastated.
To keep them mum about the entanglement and not cause controversy that would put the politician in a bad light, Richard sent monthly allowances to Ellery. Even more than she could spend in a whole month.
Ellery lived her life with a silver plate. Followed by an entourage of chauffeurs and maids to take care of her, as her parents only saw her as a liability.
Ellery was enrolled in ballet classes by the time she could walk. For some mother's it was to engage their children in extra curricular but for April, it was to keep Ellery away from her sight.
It wasn't a bad decision though as Ellery spent most hours of the day, 7 days a week rehearsing and improving. She opted to be home-schooled to have more time for dance and it paid off, as she was a multi-awarded dancer and had one first place in every competition. She tried other genres and was good at almost any genre may it be tap, jazz, or hip-hop but focused on solely ballet when she turned 13.
Ellery loved winning. She loved the ovations of the crowd as she performs, it gave her a sense of belongingness. Her plaques, crowns, and trophies made her feel special. But every time she went home carrying all her awards, her mother wouldn't even congratulate her, let alone accompany her to dance competitions and recitals.
She was fueled that maybe someday her mother would be proud of her if only she worked harder and achieved more. Just like how her friends' mothers were, even if they didn't win, they still had their moms smiling at the end of the day.
Before competitions, she would sit in front of her vanity mirror and do her hair and makeup. She'd scan around the dressing room and see other kids' makeup being done by their mothers. Some mothers were sweet enough to do her hair though.
For Ellery, she longed only for her mother's approval, her mother's warmth. She longed that someday she'll finally be able to do something she would be proud of. So she worked to perfect the craft she was dangerously good at.
The very next day, April sat Ellery in her home office to discuss the engagement. They both rarely spent their days at home as April is busy with her work as a doctor and Ellery spent most of her time training and going on tours.
"You asked for me mommy," Ellery said as she opened the door.
"Yes, sit down. I have something to tell you." April said as she kept her glasses down. Ellery sat in silence and kept her eyes on her mother's pen. "I've arranged a marriage proposal for you." Ellery's eyes widened in surprise.
"What? To whom?" She asked frowning her brows.
"To Dylan White and it has been decided already."
"Mommy, no. I-I can't marry him." Ellery stuttered as she protested.
"And why not? Maybe you can do something good for once in your life Ellery. Any girl would be begging to be married to Dylan." She said through gritted teeth.
"I'm not any girl."
"You don't dare answer back. Clear your plans on Friday. The Whites will be here to discuss the wedding preparations."
"Mommy, please." Ellery's eyes were clouded with tears. "I have a boyfriend who I love."
"Love won't lead you anywhere Ellery. I suggest you break things off with that boy to avoid offending your intended." Ellery was starting to sob at this point. But she could never answer back, she wasn't strong enough to stand up against her mother.
"I know you don't want to but it's for your own sake." April sighed looking at her daughter's miserable state, somehow seeing her crying made her heartache a little. "Listen, I'm not the best mother and this is something out of the blue for you. But I need you to do this. I need you to do this FOR ME. And I hope you don't mess things up like you always do. I'm begging you to be perfect and to be a good girl." April said. Ellery looked into her eyes and saw the determination in them.
"But mommy," Ellery protested.
"No buts Ellery, you will do as I say. You will marry Dylan White and it's final." April didn't bid her any attention and urged her to leave.
Not finding the words to say, Ellery stood and left the office. She went straight to her room and cried her heart out. She knows that no matter how much she protest her mother wouldn't listen and not being able to fight for herself made her feel devastated.
Her phone then rang after an hour of crying. Looking at the caller ID she quickly swiped to answer the call.
"Hello! Nikolaj!" It was her boyfriend of 2 years, Nikolaj Nielsen, a senior choreographer at the company she was dancing with.
"Love, what's wrong? You don't sound okay." Concern laced in his mouth.
"Can you meet me up? We need to talk. I need you." She cried out.
"Okay, text me the time and place."
Ellery and Nikolaj agreed to meet at the Rosewood Theater where they usually do rehearsals in an hour. Ellery rose up from her bed to prepare to leave. She wasn't in a good mood so she wore a lazy pair of beige ice silk jeans and shirt and paired it up with her white sneakers. Her long black hair was tied in a messy high ponytail.
She walked out the door to check if her mother was around and quickly left in her Mercedez as soon as the coast was clear for her.
When she got to the theater Nikolaj was already in his office. She opened the door and saw the 43-year-old man sitting on his swivel chair. His hair was black with grey roots and his face chiseled jawline had grey stubbles. He was wearing a black long-sleeved shirt and a pair of black pants.
"Hey, love," Ellery called out, walking to him and leaning for a kiss. He cupped her cheeks in his hand and kissed her on the temples.
"What's wrong?" He gently asked.
"Elope with me Nikolaj, we can go to your country and get married." She blurted out. Nikolaj took his hand off her face and straightened her posture. "I'm serious. You need to take me away from here."
"What are you on, love?" He inquired.
"If we don't run away my mother is going to force me to marry a man I don't love. I can't do it, love." She cried.
"What's wrong with that?" Ellery was weirded out by his answer. "What? It means we won't be together anymore."
"Ellery, we talked about this. As much as I love you, I want you to spend the rest of your life with someone your age." He calmly said.
"You never call me by my name, unless we're in rehearsals." She raised her crying eyes to look into his brown ones.
"Ellery"
"You're going to leave me?" She cried out.
"I just think you deserve to be with someone better. If we do elope what would happen to your career?" For some reason, Nikolaj was taking everything lightly. "I have to let you go, Ellery. We know that this is not right."
"But, I love you."
"You're young and you have a lot of things to learn in life. I don't want to be the one to hold you back."
"Please, don't leave me," Ellery begged him.
"I'm sorry baby. But we have to break things. We both know this relationship wasn't supposed to last." Nikolaj said bringing Ellery to his arms. "I haven't told you this before but my ex-fiancee, she came back and asked for us to talk. And to be honest with you I'm ready to be with her. It's about time we are with someone our age." There was nothing but betrayal in Ellery's eyes.
"Last week we were happy. You told me that you love me and that you want to spend the rest of your life with me!"
"You say nice things when you're happy. You say the truth when you're not, that's why it hurts. I'm sorry Ellery but it's her, and it's always been her. My two years with you were one of the best times of my life, but I'd trade everything to have one night of fighting with her if it means I'll be with her."
Ellery then realized that she was toyed for the past two years. Nikolaj was never in love with her but was in love with the idea of being with a young woman. She was a thrill in his life, and it triggered his excitement. Ellery on the other hand, not knowing what love was, fell head over heels for him and gave him everything to make him happy.
Ellery went back to her car with a broken heart. She cried and cried and chose to rebel against her mother and Nikolaj tonight. She then decided to attend a house party being hosted by her friend's boyfriend's friend.
'Hey Kate, heading to the party can you send me the address.' She texted. Once she got the reply she quickly started her engine and drove to the party.
She parked her car and entered the villa. People from the middle up to upper class were present and drowning themselves in beer and loud blasting music. It was a circus but it was what she needed for the night.
"You came! Babe's going to be spinning right now." Kate walked to her with her DJ boyfriend, Matthew. Kate is also a member of the ballet company and met Ellery through dance competitions growing up. "Also why do you like you're going to bed? This is a party!" Kate cussed.
"Nikolaj and I are--" She couldn't complete the sentence and bawled her eyes.
"Oh, honey." Kate tried to console Ellery.
"It wasn't going to last anyway," Ellery said rolling her eyes while looking at her nails.
"Okay, since you're here you need to get over him by drinking and catching a good dick tonight!" Kate encouraged her to which Ellery obliged.
The night continued and Ellery had different alcohol running through her system. She was dancing on top of the tables while Matthew was spinning by the DJ booth. Her moves were being caught by different spectators who tried their way to get to her but she wasn't into any of them.
She rested by the pool for a bit and was very drunk. She tried to walk straight to the lounge chairs but lost balance and fell into the heated pool.
SPLASH!
Ellery knew how to swim but didn't have the energy to swim back to the surface. She opened her eyes and stared at the pool lights beneath her changing colors. After a while, she was pulled up by strong arms. Ellery shivered as soon as she felt the cold air in her skin.
"Hey, Matt you got a room I can take her in?"
"Yeah, man! Just go carry her upstairs." She heard but couldn't muster enough sobriety to open her eyes. All she wanted was to rest.
She felt her body being taken to a room upstairs. Her clothes were all soaked. As soon as the door closed the guy who was taking her lowered her to the bathtub and filled it with hot water.
"Hey, miss. You need a change of clothes. I'm going to leave you here okay. There's a towel by the counter. Call me if you need help" The deep voice said. Ellery nod and the guy left her. Ellery then opened her eyes and took off her clothes one by one. She stayed there for a good 15 minutes and was a little tipsy when she stood up to wrap herself in a towel. Her wet clothes were scattered on the floor.
She went out of the bathroom in a towel and saw the man with a black shirt and basketball shorts in his hand. "Here! You got your clothes all wet." The guy only focused on her eyes as she took the clothes in his hands and wore them in front of him.
He was completely mesmerized by her beauty. Her blue eyes looked through his green ones filled with mystery. She soaked her brush back and her lips were plump and red. She wasn't wearing heels but she was tall as a supermodel and her proportions were perfect, curves in all the right places. Her slender arms looked toned and strong and her long legs were just the right amount of muscular. His favorite part about her was her collar bones, how her long slender neck perfectly sits on her bones. He craves to be able to brush his lips on her beauty bones.
"Are you done checking me out?" Ellery said. Walking closer to the tall brown-haired man and looking into his green eyes. His high Grecian nose, thick eyebrows, and chiseled jaw were placed on his face perfectly. He was a sexy sight and anyone who lays eyes on him was lucky to have a glance.
"Miss, I'll admit that I'm completely attracted to you, but you're drunk and I don't do drunk girls." He said in his sexy voice, turning Ellery even more.
"I'm not drunk. Completely sobered up." She then took the initiative to kiss him. He then took this as an invitation and kissed her back swallowing her plump lips. "You tell me to stop if you're not comfortable."
But Ellery never told him to stop. They both gave in and demanded more from each other.
Their clothes were off in a minute and they were both taking turns pleasuring each other. The air was filled with moans, skin slapping, and grunts. They were both drunk but knew they wanted this. Ellery was trying to cope while this guy couldn't miss the chance to be with this complete beauty who got him under her spell.
The morning after, Ellery woke up on top of the guy with a pounding headache, naked, with a few bruises on her chest. She knew what she did and was feeling a little remorse that she have to get up and leave this amazing guy.
She scanned around and wore the clothes the guy gave her and proceeded to wear them back. Before leaving she admired the beauty of the man who spent the night with her, sleeping on the bed naked with scratches on every part of his body. He is tall and has just the right build and she felt like a little girl sleeping in his muscular arms.
Giving him a thank you peck on the cheeks she quietly left the room and exited the house. On her drive back she dwelled on what Nikolaj told her. The man who built her up came and caused havoc. She was now an emotional wreck and needed the amazing night to get her head out of it.
