Chapter 1

Sofia waited anxiously at the altar. As much as she looked to the sides, the groom was nowhere to be seen. She was alone, her feet felt even cold, as did her hands.

She could see, and when she looked ahead, no one was coming.

"My friend, I think it's time to go," muttered Melisa, holding her by the arm.

"He has to come," she commented after waiting for more than half an hour.

"Sofi, he won't come, we have to leave," she said taking his hand and trying to get him to leave.

"I won't leave without him, he would never leave me," she commented with teary eyes.

After waiting for an hour standing with the guests crestfallen. The murmurs came and went, she finally decided to walk.

She never thought to do it alone, without anyone coming to throw rice at her, without the corresponding congratulations.

She walked, with her heart in her chest, not knowing why her beloved had not appeared.

A year after that dramatic event, Sofia was looking for a job in a company.

Her feet were moving from one side to the other, her heart was beating in a hurry. There were many selected, about 20 girls along with her; waiting for the position of secretary to the Ceo.

Sofia could not even understand how they had taken her to such an important place.

She even felt ashamed to step on the floor, fearing to spoil the floor.

She could see herself reflected in it, she adjusted her unruly curls a little, and only looked forward.

When there were only three girls left. Sofia wanted to turn and run away.

"What am I doing here? "she thought, "Surely they have more experience. I don't even have that. I just graduated from college, and I have no experience."

"Alba," commented a bespectacled woman.

Sofia knew it was her turn. She walked awkwardly, trying not to fall.

"Excuse me," she said rather fearfully.

When she reached the huge room, her shoes echoed in the place. Swallowing saliva, she slowly approached.

The chair was upside down, only the back was visible.

Chapter 2

Suddenly, whoever was there turned around.

Sofia saw those blue eyes. She felt she knew him from somewhere, but she couldn't think where.

"Miss, welcome," the man commented, holding out his hand, indicating her to sit down.

Sofia did so. She was quite self"conscious, and her heart did not understand why she felt that way.

"Thank you," she commented, finally dropping gently onto the seat.

"Well, I've talked about you a lot, you had an excellent resume at your university. I'm so glad to have you with us," the man commented, surprising Sofia.

She had the best grades, but the moment she wanted to find a job, it had been difficult.

"Thank you, it's the first time I've ever heard that," she murmured with a crestfallen face.

"I'm interested, I'll put you on probation for three months, okay?

"So fast? "asked Sofia, raising her head.

"Do you think it's too fast? Do you want me to change my mind? "he said in a dry tone, surprising Sofia.

"No, the truth is that I am more than grateful, sir. "

"You can call me Julian," he said and she agreed.

"Thank you, sir," she commented and then stood up.

"You start tomorrow morning at 8:00 a.m. I want to see you here 15 minutes before, I want my office to be tidy. I hate pencils that aren't half handy.

Sofia suddenly remembered that her husband, or future husband, liked to have everything in order.

"Did you hear me? "she repeated again.

"Yes... I heard you. "

Sofia went out to the office with a happy look on her face, her hopes were growing little by little. "Did you really get the job? "asked Melissa, while drinking a cup of coffee.

They were at Sofia's house.

"Yes, the truth is that she is very happy to have gotten the job.

"I'm glad you got it. "

Chapter 3

"What are you going to do with Ana? "Sofia suddenly asked Melisa.

She had always been in charge of taking care of her fake niece, now that she would be working that would change.

She looked a little sadly at her best friend, but tried to think of an idea.

"I'm sorry," she said and Melisa denied.

"Don't worry, besides, next week classes will start. So I'll be able to work in peace.

"It's all right."

"You've done too much for me Sofia, so don't really worry.

She nodded, looked at her best friend with a smile and they both looked at each other for a second. In the course of the day. Everything was the same, the sky was starry, and the moon looked greenish.

It made her curious.

She leaned on her elbows on the balcony, wondering how tomorrow would go.

The next day dawned very early; she was wearing a white shirt, a tube skirt, it came down to her knees.

Her steps were purposeful, as she arranged everything quite carefully.

Something about it reminded her of Emmanuel, her old love. The one she had loved for so long, and now he was gone.

She could never find him again. No matter how hard she looked for him and called the police.

Something had swallowed him up, he had disappeared.

They had been together for four years, Sofia always thought something had happened to him.

She sighed, and Melisa was right and he had left with another woman. When she finished rearranging the desk, she went into her small office, opening the door next door.

Her boss came in with a coffee in his hand, and her mouth watered, she was hungry, she hadn't had breakfast and her guts protested.

"If you want, you can go to the cafeteria to drink a coffee, but hurry up," ordered her boss, and she nodded in complete embarrassment.

"I'm sorry," she said and ran away.

She couldn't get out of the office, her blazer was stuck in the door handle.
