The Dream

"Hey girl,why are you out here at this time?Did you get lost?"Karen asked,worriedly.But strangely, the girl kept shaking her head vigorously as if telling her not to untie her.Her hair was muddled up and her sides were bleeding.Where was this place?..

A step was heard and the girl finally spoke,with tears running down her cheeks."Run please...run away.Don't save me,you can't fight her.Dont."

Karen stared towards the direction where the steps were heard and a masked person appeared. This masked person again?Karen thought.What exactly could be going on?...

"Come....come..give me your hands"The eyes in the mask pierced her eyes trying to hypnotize her senses.

Karen shook her head as the voice grew louder in her ears."W..what are you doing to me and who are you?"She said as she staggered and fell.She could feel the vessels in her chest struggling to pop out in a second.Who was this person to make her like this?And why does she feel this strange sensation in her body?.

The voice laughed at her."All I want is your eyes and that thing in you.Nothing else interests me more than that. And I am glad I will accomplish all I have planned today."Her laugh filled the forest and the girl shivered in fear.

"Don't come near me...Don't you dare come near me"Karen stammered.She could hear her heart beat faster.

"We shall see about that"The person scoffed and charged forward with full force towards Karen when she suddenly felt someone shaking her.She shut her eyes and breathed in.Opening it back,she saw her mum agitated.

"Karen,are you alright?.You were screaming so loud a while ago.Is it one of those nightmares again?"Catherine asks.Her daughter had been behaving strangely for weeks now.Could it be what she had always thought it to be?.

Karen sat up slowly and wiped the sweat off her forehead."I..I am fine,mum. I guessed the scary movies we watched last night wasn't suitable for my mind.I am really fine,nothing to worry about"She checked her wristwatch."I have to prepare for school now,see you downstairs"She pecked her and hurried to the bathroom. She didn't want her mum seeing the blood on her wrists. Was last night real as well?..

Catherine sighed.Her instincts weren't wrong after all.They are already out for her daughter."Okay Darling,take your time.I will be waiting''She walked out.

A woman stood at the door and Catherine frowned a bit."Why are you here at my house?..I have told you I am not and will not listen to anything you wanna say."Catherine walked in to her room and the woman followed her.

"Even if it meant Karen losing her life and others in the process?!.Cat,quit thinking about yourself only. Don't act like mum did because it would only worsen things as it was before.Do you want Karen's life ruined like yours?"The woman,Amy yelled.

Being siblings, they remembered being loved and taken care of by their mum since when they were little until when their mother was hypnotized by only her knows and everything blew off.And now,the only way to get everything and every record straight is finally here and she is hesitating??....

"So what are you getting at?.The book might be wrong.I don't believe in ancient books and besides,I didn't experience anything strange while she and Kelly were in my womb."

Amy sighed."And her eyes?... Don't tell me that's normal too.You and I know the intensity of the colors that radiates in her eyes every moment.Carly,you have got to tell her who she is and what she is actually carrying! Or else don't come to me when everything goes all wrong"She turned and left.

Catherine clenched her fists.Could things go more wrong and worse than all these now?.Being pregnant with two opposite forces,she knew better than anyone what her sister meant.Looking at the clock,she went downstairs to prepare breakfast.

Kelly scoffed when she saw Karen hurrying down the stairs.

"Why don't you get yourself expelled already?School doesn't suit you"She blurted.Catherine dropped her fork and Karen sat.

"Will you stop being nasty every morning?Why would you say that to her?She is your twin!"Catherine fumed.Karen squeezed her mum's hands in comfort.

Before Kelly could reply,their father walked in.He sat and munched a meat pie.

"Yes but different hours.Kelly actually came twelve hours before her. Am I wrong?"Scott asked.

Catherine gave him a piercing look."Scott,are you really going to bring this up again?.Why are you doing this?Karen is your child too,remember?".

Scott glanced up.

"She seized being my child the moment you almost died in the theater!and don't tell me that I am taking sides here.I had made everything clear the day you decided to bring her into this house. Don't make me change my mind!".

Karen stood up and forced a smile.She was already expecting this anyway. "Mum,dad.please just stop quarrelling because of me.I am off, bye"She walked out.

"Karen!..Karen!"Catherine called out.Maybe the set time is now,Maybe telling Karen about herself might make her confident and stand up to any criticism before her.Maybe....

She stared at the two before her."I will make sure you two regret this especially you,Kelly,mark my words"She hit the table and left.

Kelly grinned."Did you really fall for that,dad?".

"Well...A little bit because Catherine can be really unpredictable at times".

Karen got to class and her phone beeped.She checked it.It was a message from her mum.

''Got a little problem at home?''Irene asked,with smiles all over her face. She had been Karen's best friend since grade one at school.

"Must your footsteps sound so loud when sneaking up on me,huh??".

Irene stared at her,shocked."D..Did you just say you heard my footsteps?..I didn't even tried making a sound while walking?... How come you heard that...".

Karen puts her phone back without checking it."Forget I ever said that and for your first question,nothing serious.Just quarrellings and all.Does all twin sisters behave like Kelly?"Karen asked.Irene was right.How could she have heard her footsteps and since the dream last night she could feel a strong sensation whirling up and down her body.Should she let her mum know?

What more strange things could even happen again?.

Irene poked her nose."Well,not all of them but yours is an exception.I wouldn't blame her that much because you are truly worth to be envious about. Your bright multicolored eyes,your glittering long silver hair and your face!...How I wished I had just a quarter of it"Irene chattered on.

Karen smiled."You have always wished for everything all your life.Thanks for the compliment Miss Irene but I don't think that might be the main reason why........The bell rang."Here comes Mrs Skye,you had better get to your seat or get yourself in trouble".

Karen gave her a thumbs up and scuttled to her seat.

Glancing at her notes,she sighed.How she wished her dad wasn't so nonchalant about how she lived or breathed. How she wished Kelly wasn't so nasty to get herself transferred to the best high school in town. Who could believe she even has a twin when everything about them seem odd all for a reason she can't still figure out till now even if her dad reminds her all day that he hates her?.

Pain surged through her veins suddenly and she shut her eyes.

It is now or never

The bell rang for lunch time.Bilton High school was bustling with different voices and all.Kelly and her two friends sat in the school canteen when a girl came running towards her with some packed lunches.

Kelly laughs as the girl trembled at her presence.The others focused on what they were doing as not to incur her wrath again,only Jayden was able to get into her because she likes him but unfortunately he wasn't around today.

"Did your sick mother know you stole to buy all these for us?"She flashed her evil smile and stood up.

"I did what you wanted me to do already. What more do you want from me,huh?!'',The girl cried as Kelly's friends laughed,taking the lunches from her.

"So you think I will let you go just like that after humiliating me the day before?!.Don't worry much about your mum.I promise to take care of her.Trudy,take her and follow me now"Kelly ordered and walked away.

The others sighed watching the poor girl follow them, no one dares stand up to Kelly but only talk at her back.

"Why is no one doing anything to that arrogant bitch?Is this really a school or hell?"A new student asked and Kelly halted.

Everyone held their breath,hoping nothing would go wrong.Kelly laughs,flicked her finger and the girl fell,convulsing.

"Ruby!.. Ruby!...Somebody help"The boy beside her called.

"What did you say happened to Ruby?"The principal,Mrs Arianna asked.She stared hard at the two students before her,trying to pretend she didn't know who could be behind it.

"We rushed her in here because she was convulsing"The boy who sat with Ruby then said.

The girl beside him,stared at him as if he was crazy."Roy,are you alright?..Didn't you tell me that it was Kelly's doing?.why are you saying otherwise?"The girl,Linda scoffed.

Mrs Arianna shifted her glasses."Thanks for the information.I will see to it and Linda,i mustn't hear anything from you again,get back to your class now''.

Roy left but Linda didn't.

"Mum,are you still going to sit still and watch that brat ruin your hardwork for all these years?.I can't get the reason why you can't confront her for all these stupid things she's been doing.This isn't the first time things like this is happening. How sure are we that she isnt responsible for Jayden's girlfriend's death,huh?"Linda spat.Mrs Arianna stood up and dragged her to an inner office.

"Linda,you had better stop all these unless you want to get me into more trouble.Can't you see how helpless I am?.You think if I had a solution to all these I would sit still?".

Linda gazed at the woman before her.Its really obvious that her mum had gotten herself into Kelly's whims of tricks again but this time,she would never have none of it.Its either she leaves or Kelly leaves.

"I am losing it because of how helpless you are!..I can't even get why everyone can't just leave this whole damn building to study elsewhere. Why are everyone still stuck in here and more students applying again?..Is everyone out there blind?!'',Linda's heart clenched in pain,remembering how Kelly treats the other students and some students still in the dungeon receiving torture.

"Linda,Kelly has everyone's mind in her palm.Only the strong willed like you still know exactly what's happening around here.I don't know how to get her out of here or even the students instead.Everyday,I always expected a phone call of a parent complaining but none came.What am I supposed to do then?....How can I save everyone?"A tear dropped on her pale face.

Linda embraced her mum and sighed."...I will find a way to end this mess,mum.We have to do something before she ruins us all and I will make sure of that".

Mrs Arianna held her tightly."Kelly isn't someone you can confront, don't dare get her annoyed please.I don't want to lose you".

Linda gave a bitter smile and walked out. It is now or never.

Karen munched her sandwiches nervously as she felt all eyes on her.Irene came smiling with her tray of meal.

"I thought you would have gotten used to the student's stare by now.They all admire a ravishing beauty and nothing more"Irene teased.

Karen gave her a glare.She whispers. "Must you be so loud when you talk?. I am done if you aren't"She took her tray and stood up.

Irene frowned."Like seriously?.. I came out because you did and you want to leave me now?".

Karen smiled and wanted to reply when she felt that same pain surged through her wrists again but this time,very painful.

Irene noticed her."Hey,are you alright?. I saw you in class back then when you shut your eyes.Did anywhere hurt?"Concerns were written all over her face.

Karen tried to smile."I am fine,I think I just need to rest that's all.Get done with your meal and we will meet in class''.

Irene nodded and dug into her food when she heard a clanking sound behind her.Karen was on the floor,writhing in pain.She felt her eyes pointing out a location to her,what does this even mean?.

Irene rushed to her."Let me get you to the sick bay then we can talk because you are not well,Karen.You are not".

Sensing everyone might get scared off if something unusual might happen,she pushed Irene and ran off.The students murmured at the scenario before them.

Getting to a safe sight,She held her wrists tightly and managed to say some words.A sound was heard and she fell.Her mum's voice made her know she was home.

"Karen!..Karen,are you alright?..you are burning up"Catherine lifted her up,taking her to her room.

Resting on her bed,Karen inhaled deeply.

Catherine brought out some pills and forced it into her throat."You know you should only use that when time comes.you know it has its side effects for using it prematurely,right?"she asked,concerned.

"I will be fine mum.I just wanna know why you are bent on keeping things away from me.Am I not old enough to know things that do concern me?.Mum,what is this strange sensation I do feel everytime?..What does having this eyes mean?..Why am I different from everyone?"Karen asked,tears already streaming down her cheeks.

Catherine inhaled the pain that filled her heart,seeing her daughter this way.Could she really keep this secret forever?..Was she afraid Karen might not make the right choices as she did?.

"Karen,i am so sorry for keeping everything away from you.I was so scared you might turn out like Kelly if you know who you really are and I don't just want to lose you to the world.Seeing how much you care for people around you since you were little, I knew I couldn't stop your destiny. You wanna know everything, right?... Even if it might cost you a lot later in the future?"Catherine watched her,cry again.

She kept quiet for a moment,then finally talked.

"Yes mum,I just want to know why Dad and Kel despises me..,why everything is turning out this way for me''.

Catherine brought out a knife and pierced it right into her belly.....

You are a part of them as well?

Karen got stunned at the sight before her.She managed to sit up,trying to drag out the knife from her mum's belly.

"Mum!,what are you doing?!...Why did you stab yourself?!..Mum!"Karen cried as Catherine kept her hands from dragging out the knife.

"Listen to me Karen,you and Kelly are no match for each other in terms of powers.When I got pregnant of you two,I was told that I have two opposing forces in me and I had to kill one for one but ....I couldn't kill Kelly and thats why everything has gone wrong now.You remember Grandpa?..Kelly killed him at the age of eight and manipulated you into telling Grandma you did so.She discovered her powers before you and that made her hone it more than you do"Catherine coughed."Karen, you have supernatural powers which can save the lives that Kelly's powers are hungry to take.Your powers has already started attracting more forces because you will be turning eighteen soon.So Karen,no matter what happens,never stop trusting yourself because lives are waiting out there for you and you have got to use those powers correctly"Catherine said,her eyes already closing slowly.

"Mum!..Mum!...Don't leave me,Mum!"Karen screamed despite the pain in her.A flash appeared and Karen found herself teleporting again.

Kelly walked in,settling on the sofa.Jayden picked a cheese,sitting opposite her.

"What did you do at school today?"He asked,gazing at her.

She smirked."Is that all you intend to ask me?..Didnt you miss me?"She stood up,coming closer.Jayden took a step backward.

"Don't try to sweet talk me into anything right now.What did you do at school again?"He asked,sternly.After Linda called him on phone,he knew it was high time someone talked some senses into her.He wondered how he got stuck with her or could Linda be really telling the truth?.

"Jay,did anyone tell you anything?.I didnt do anything,just normal stuffs and thats all"She snapped.Who dares poke nose into her business?.

"Kel,no one has to tell me anything before I know all that happened in school.Make Ruby well or no talks between the both of us"Jayden turned to leave when she hurled a knife to him but it went straight back to her,slightly scratching her jaw.

Jayden looked back at her,his face filled with disgust."If I ever found out later that you are responsible for everything including Diane's death,I will make you pay before anyone does.Try me at that"He took a step forward.

"Jay,you can't speak to me that way.I had always loved you all my life and you will always be mine.How did you do that?..How did you get that...that...knife to come back to me?"Kelly asked,still in shock of what happened.Jayden couldn't possibly have powers,could he?...

"I guess you didnt even know much about me before deciding to be with me.Enjoy it while it lasts"He walked out and slammed the door behind.

Kelly screamed in anger as her fingers were already shaking.Her face was already heating hot even when the air conditioner was fully on.

Karen coughed out repeatedly.Her mum lay beside her,unconscious.She was about to touch her when a woman walked in.

"Who are you and what are we doing here?"Karen asked.Looking around,her lips parted slightly at the awesome sight before her.Could this be a paradise?Everywhere looked beautiful and.......

She noticed something glittering in her and looked down.She gasped at the beautiful dress which was adorned with butterflies.The woman smiled.

"Welcome to the land of great secrets.We were told the heiress would be here today and am actually surprised to know you are the one carrying the most coveted great powers.Welcome once again,Karen"The woman said and different sparks showed differently in the sky.

Karen was still in a daze of everything happening in a second when the woman teleported to her side and touched her mum.Catherine sprang up and embraced Karen happily.

"Mum...I thought you were going to leave,was this the price you said I would pay for just having powers?...I can't do this mum,I can't"Karen cried.

Catherine tried to laugh."You are such a cry baby.I didnt actually pierce the knife into my belly because I wanna die.Its just something I must do to bring you here.There is a mark on my belly which signifies the core of this place,you have one too at the tape of your neck.So always be careful about that place if you don't want here to get destroyed".

"So mum,you are a part of them as well?You have powers too?"Karen asked,suprise written all over her face.

The woman offered to talk."Yes,she was the chosen one before getting married to your father but she refused her duties.She was scared of everything and ran away which caused so many lives under attack now.So she doesn't want you making the same mistake again and I hope you won't".

Karen sighed at this sudden discovery.Was that why she had those mysterious dreams?.So Kelly wasn't truly what she really thinks she is?.

The woman lifted her up and touched her forehead."You will go into a trance for now,I want to show you what you really need to know".A light shone brightly and Karen found herself in a school.She tried to take a step forward but she couldn't,it was as if her body was stuck on a spot.....

Coughing out repeatedly,Karen finally opened her eyes.

"Are you alright,dear?.Did anything happen?"Catherine's voice filled her ears and she remembered she was out of the trance already.

Karen gritted her teeth in anger."That..that was my sister.No...that couldn't be Kelly..no"She tried not to believe what she saw but it was right in front of her.The truth was right in front of her.Could Kelly also really be after her life?...

Catherine talked."You and I know who your twin truly is and all these has been confirmed.You have got to confront her because no matter how you avoid it,you will surely face her one day".

"And a letter will be delivered to you tomorrow and I don't need to tell you what you need to do after that"The woman smiled,wryly.

Karen bowed her head where she sat.They were already back home and she knew she couldn't lie to herself anymore.

"There isn't anything you can do,you have got to stop your sister.Don't ever make the same mistake I made,dear because its a very costly one",Catherine said and walked to the kitchen.

Karen's eyes got filled with tears as she remembered what she saw.
