Chapter 1 A Thrilling Escape

In C City.

Bright lights sparkled and shimmered in the neon city as heavy traffic snaked its way through the street.

The most luxurious club in C city was located bang in the middle of the city.

Sharon Fang, who had been wandering for two hours, was standing at the gate of the club, feeling paralyzed with fear.

The phone rang and she pressed the answer key. The words that came from the other end of the line erased any thoughts of escaping from her mind.

Taking a deep breath, she walked into the club.

The high-end club smelled unlike a hot, sweaty bar. Designed as a grand tea house, it was tranquil, cool and fragrant.

Melodious zither music played in the background, putting her anxiety at ease, if only temporarily.

When she arrived at the place they had agreed to meet, Sharon Fang took another fortifying breath, smoothed her tight, black skirt, and knocked on the door.

When she pushed open the door, she was enveloped in smoke and mist, which blurred her vision.

A foul smell of cigarettes and alcohol filled her nose, almost choking her. She frowned subconsciously and spotted a group of people happily playing cards around the tea table.

A gentle-looking young man noticed Sharon Fang by the door and smiled slyly. "You're finally here!" he commented.

Everyone turned to look at her. They seemed to understand what was going to happen.

Sharon Fang felt like she was like a monkey in a zoo.

The young man raised his eyebrows and smiled, "Are you interested in her?" "Whew!"

Hearing this, the others hooted and whistled raucously.

Sharon Fang was terrified at this point. She felt like she had fallen into hell.

Her face turned deathly pale and her body tensed. The rowdy crowd in the room was humiliating her.

"Yeah! She looks great. As long as you don't think I will take advantage of you!"

"Don't worry about it. We are friends anyway. You can do whatever you want to her."

"Ha-ha!"

The evil laughter struck terror in Sharon Fang's heart.

Tears were welling up in her eyes.

She was so embarrassed that she wished she could disappear.

Turning around resolutely, she ran towards the door.

Just as her hand was about to touch the doorknob, someone behind her grabbed her and spun her around harshly.

Suddenly, a crisp sound echoed in the room, making all the commotion die down.

Sharon Fang turned her face to the side and a palm print was visible her fair face. She was in shock. The searing pain made her dizzy.

"How dare you try to run?" The cold and menacing voice made her shiver.

The young man held her chin roughly, almost making her cry. He forced her eyes to look into his, which gleamed wickedly like a demon's.

She struggled in his grasp and pleaded, "Let go of me! I regret it!"

The young man sneered at her naivete and stupidity.

"It's too late to regret now!"

Sharon Fang trembled and looked around in panic.

All eyes were on her, and they were full of mockery, indifference, or curiosity, but there was no sympathy in any of them.

She had landed herself in a grave situation.

Still determined to make her escape, she used all her strength and kicked the man's private part. A scream rang in her ears.

The man fell to the ground and curled up in pain.

Before the other people in the room could react, Sharon Fang quickly opened the door and dashed out. She heard the man's furious voice behind her, and a chill ran up her spine.

There was no one else in the corridor except waiters who were doing their jobs. Yet, none of them tried to come to her aid.

Her hair was in a mess, and the palm print on her face was clearer in the bright lights. She looked disheveled and scared.

A few passersby stared at her in astonishment and sympathy, which made her feel ashamed. She quickly lowered her head and ran away, desperate to get out of this place.

"There she is. Hurry up!" Came an urgent voice from not far away.

When she looked back, she saw that the group of people from the room were chasing her. Her face turned ashen with fright.

Her gold-and-silver high-heeled shoes clicked hard and fast on the smooth floor as she picked up her pace.

Her black hair danced manically in the wind.

She reached the elevators but neither of the two elevators stopped.

Sharon Fang raced to the stairs, ready to flee.

However, in her hurry, she missed a step and fell down. She toppled down the stairs and suddenly, everything went round and round in her head.

The world was spinning. She kept falling and pain pierced through her.

After a loud thud, her world became quiet.

When the dizziness passed, she tried to get up, but found that she was unable to move. Helplessness overwhelmed her bit by bit.

She was hurt and couldn't move, and the bad guys were after her. She was doomed!

"She is downstairs!" someone shouted excitedly.

There was no time for her to feel sorry for herself. Clenching her teeth, she struggled to get up. Somehow she managed to grab her shoes and ran to hide.

However, she was stunned to find that there was no place to hide. Frustrated, she held her throbbing head, feeling like she was about to collapse.

The footsteps were getting closer and closer, and her heart was beating faster and faster. She was breathing hard and panting. The fear in her eyes grew stronger.

If they caught her, they would kill her!

Just then Sharon Fang heard the sound of a door opening, and her eyes lit up. Without thinking, she rushed into the room and closed the door quickly.

Almost immediately, she heard a conversation outside the room.

"Where is she?"

"Did she run downstairs?"

"Hurry up! Otherwise, how are we going to find her?" Soon the footsteps faded away, presumably moving away from her.

Sharon let out a sigh of relief. She slumped against the door and collapsed on the cold ground. Her hands were trembling and her mouth was dry. She murmured, "Thank goodness! I'm safe at last."

Then she realized that she was sweating.

The dull ache on her face and body reminded her of what she had just been through.

She raised her head. The room was pitch dark.

However, the air was permeated with the faint fragrance of lavender mixed with a fresh woody scent.

It was definitely not her own fragrance. It seemed more masculine.

She stood up quickly and strained the wound on her foot. A cold sweat trickled down her face. She apologized, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to intrude. I'll leave right away!"

"Are you sure you want to go outside right now?" The voice was playful and bewitching. It was very beautiful, and, in this dark room, there was a mysterious allure to it.

It was most certainly a man's voice.

Sharon stopped and hesitated.

If she went out, there was no guarantee that those people would be gone by now.

She couldn't imagine what would happen to her if she got caught. Sharon shivered and stepped backward subconsciously.

She peered at the stranger in the darkness. "Sir, can you let me stay a little longer? I will leave as soon as they go away!" she requested.

The man smiled and said, "Okay! As long as you think you're safe here!"

Didn't she know that it was easy to get into trouble when a man and a woman were alone in the same room?

Sharon froze. Her face turned hot, and her heart was pounding wildly. She said in a low voice, "My intuition tells me that you are not that kind of a person!"

Although they just met each other, for some reason, she believed that he would not treat her badly! Maybe it was because he offered her a refuge for a while.

'Intuition? What a wonderful word!'

The man chuckled and murmured, "Interesting!"

Just then, a phone ring broke the silence of the night.

The man removed his phone from his pocket and walked to the window before answering the call.

"I can't leave right now!" The man's voice was lazy and casual, and he had his own style.

She was attracted to him and was blushing.

He was about to step out of the room, but was interrupted by her.

"Ten million?"

Hearing this number, Sharon's eyelids twitched. It was difficult for her not to think that way.

"I'll come back later!"

'Well, is he really saying what I think he is?' she thought.

"You can wait here. I have something to do!" His hoarse voice, accompanied by the unique smell of men's perfume stirred something within her.

She had never smelled such an intoxicating perfume before. It was driving her crazy.

Sharon reprimanded herself internally for feeling this way. She struggled to control her feelings.

The man sensed that something was wrong. "What's up?"

Crossing her fingers, she plucked up the courage and asked, "Do you want me?"

Even in the darkness, she could make out that his dark eyes were aglow with desire.

She could feel his warm breath on her face.

Suddenly, he wrapped his arm around her waist, drawing a surprised gasp from her. He whispered wickedly in her ear, "Are you interested?"

His question indirectly gave her the answer.

She lowered her head. Her face was burning. Her fingers dug into her palm. After a pause, she quickly added, "I, I don't need so much though. Just half is enough, okay?"

Tonight's events had overturned everything she had known before. It was really exciting but embarrassing at the same time. Fortunately, the darkness was the perfect cloak for her embarrassment.

Chapter 2 What's Your Advantages

The alarm bell chimed leisurely.

An automated female voice came through the darkness. "It is eight o'clock in the evening."

Nightlife in the bustling C city had just begun.

However, the room in which Sharon was standing was immersed in silence.

If she hadn't been breathing, she would have thought that time had frozen at this moment.

When he made no answer for a long time, Sharon was relieved instead of being disappointed.

"Sorry, I..." she started apologizing but the pleasantly deep voice interrupted her. He asked impishly, "I'm very curious. Why were you escaping from those people just now?"

Perhaps it was because of the darkness in the room, the interaction between them grew intense. Even her heartbeat was rapid and unstable.

"Uh..." Sharon fumbled, not knowing how to answer for a moment.

Should she come clean and tell him that she hurt someone to save herself, and now he was coming to get his revenge?

'No, if I tell the truth, this man will run fast in the opposite direction.'

After weighing the pros and cons, she said softly, "He, um, they hit me."

Her cheek was still stinging from the slap.

So it wasn't a complete lie.

"Aren't you afraid that I will do the same to you?"

"I don't think you are such a bad person."

"You are a good talker!" Then the man looked at her meaningfully and asked, "So, what advantages can you offer me?"

Advantages? 'Is the competition that fierce? There must be lots of women waiting to be chosen by him.' However, she could think of only one advantage she had.

How the night played out depended on it.

She then stood on her tiptoes and whispered in his ear.

Sharon didn't hear his reply, but suddenly a big hand was splayed across her waist. The answer was obvious.

She didn't remember the sequence of events that followed afterward because her mind had no time to register it all.

She heard his phone ringing in a daze but he didn't answer it.

The phone rang intermittently for a long time, and finally became silent.

Maybe the caller finally gave up or maybe the phone ran out of battery and turned off automatically.

She felt a little sorry for the person on the other end of the line. After all, she had blocked that person's opportunity for making big money. She was a little embarrassed of herself.

Later, she was so tired that she fell asleep.

When she stirred, she felt someone's arms around her. She felt warm and cozy.

The first rays of the sun lit up the sky, shrouding the room in a jasmine-colored aura.

The first thing Sharon saw upon waking up was the sturdy, bronze chest of a man. He had a perfect physique and healthy, glowing skin.

She was so shocked that she froze.

At long last, she recalled what happened last night. Her face was flushed.

'Oh, God!' she thought, covering her face with her hands.

She looked up and saw that the handsome man's face had a serene look.

He had a straight nose and thick eyebrows, revealing his unruly and wild side.

And she was cocooned in his arms, completely naked. They were entwined in each other's arms, painting an intimate scene. Sharon was shocked by her thoughts. Then she carefully disentangled herself out of his arms.

Finally, she leaned over and pressed a kiss on his sexy lips. The kiss was soft and tender, not as wild as last night.

Then Sharon put on her clothes quickly before he woke up.

When she stepped into the bathroom, she gazed at herself in the mirror. The swelling from the slap she received yesterday had subsided, revealing her flawless skin.

She replayed the scene of him tenderly applying the medicine on her face with his slender hand.

The memory brought a smile to her face.

Before leaving, she looked back at the man on the bed one last time.

It was morning now and Cinderella was back to her original form!

When she touched the doorknob, a sleepy, playful voice came from behind.

"You don't want to look at me for even one more second?"

Startled, Sharon turned around and stared into his deep, dark eyes. Her heart skipped a beat, and she clutched her bag tightly.

She was feeling restless. Originally, she wanted to leave the room before he woke up to avoid facing him.

However, she didn't know that he had already woken up a long time ago, even earlier than her.

He stuck out his long legs, got out of bed, and strolled towards her. She took a few steps back until her body pressed against the back of the door. There was no place to retreat further.

Suddenly, his big hand caressed her chin and slowly raised it. He smiled naughtily, "Why are you so scared?"

Sharon simply shook her head in response, unable to utter a word.

"Stay and have breakfast with me."

"I... I have something to do!" she said in a panic.

His eyes flashed and he stared at her beautiful face. "Don't tell me you're rejecting me," he said bemusedly.

Her face had turned crimson by now. His proximity was making her skin burning. Looking at her sheepish expression, he could not help chuckling and raised his eyebrows.

She stared at the hunk in front of her in astonishment.

Although she knew nothing about him, she had a vague idea of his extraordinary background from his words and deeds last night.

How could a man of such outstanding appearances and impressive family have no woman?

He seemed like someone who commanded the respect and adoration of posh, beautiful women across the city.

How could a man like him choose someone as ordinary as her to be his woman? It must be a joke!

With a wry smile, she made a weak excuse. "It's getting late. I really have to go."

He finally accepted her refusal and stopped forcing her. He let go of her chin with a cold aloofness on his handsome face.

'I knew he would be like this!' Sharon told herself mentally.

"Tell me your name!" he demanded.

Sharon was a little stunned. She didn't know that he would bother to learn her name. She replied, "Sharon."

"Sharon?"

She nodded and smiled sweetly.

The man continued, "If you have any problems next time, you can come to me."

'Next time?' His words echoed in her mind. Would it happen again? Her answer was, never.

"I'll leave it to fate," Sharon mumbled as if she was talking to herself.

Then she opened the door and left quietly.

Sharon stopped and turned around to look at the closed door. She couldn't help wondering whether a mysterious thing such as fate would bring them together again.

Chapter 3 Come Back Home

Three years later.

The Lakin International Airport was bustling with people.

Loud announcements resounded through the airport, giving passengers flight information. Scenes of reunions and farewells played out in every corner.

A young woman in high-heeled, gold shoes strutted out of the exit gate. The light blue dress hugged her curves, and her fresh make-up made her look elegant, like a daisy in bloom.

A handsome, tall man walked straight towards her through the corridor.

"Sharon!" he called. His clear voice washed over her like a spring breeze.

Sharon got her luggage and smiled cheerfully. "Magee, have you been waiting for a long time?" she asked.

Magee Han was Sharon's high school classmate and one of her few good friends.

"No, no, I just arrived!" he explained as he took the luggage from Sharon's hand. "Let's go!"

A white Honda was parked outside the airport. When they reached the car, Magee Han picked up the luggage and put it into the trunk.

Sharon raised her eyebrows and asked, "Your car?"

Magee Han grinned and replied, "It's my company's."

"Are you using the car for personal uses?" she chuckled.

"Even if the company finds out, it's worth it for someone as gorgeous as you!" he said gently, not feeling offended at her joke. Then he opened the door gracefully and teased, "Please get in, beautiful!"

"Thank you!" She got into the passenger seat while Magee Han took the driver's seat.

They left the airport and were soon cruising along the asphalt roads of the city as there wasn't too much traffic at this time. They zoomed past the tall buildings lining the streets.

Sharon straightened up and peered at the skyscrapers outside her window.

"You have come back to the city after so many years. Everything must be looking so different to you." Magee Han's voice cut through her thoughts.

Turning around, she stared at his handsome face and sighed, "Yes. I feel that many areas have changed. If I was alone, I might not be able to tell where I am."

"In the last few years, the government of C City has attracted foreign investment to boost the economy. Besides, the real estate industry has also been flourishing. Several new buildings have sprung up, and many areas have got a face-lift. I'll show you around on the weekend so you can get familiarized with the city again," offered Magee.

She nodded happily. "Okay, sounds good! As long as you have time!"

Magee Han responded, "For a beautiful woman like you, I will make the time!"

The car rolled to stop at a red light at an intersection.

Sharon took the opportunity to look around. The number on the traffic signal indicator was decreasing one second after another until finally, the red light turned green.

The car started again and moved at an unhurried pace.

Suddenly, she spotted a dazzling sapphire car in the rearview mirror. It was flying on the road, and zipping in and out of the traffic like crazy.

The driver must be either very confident or arrogant.

Sharon didn't know which one this driver was but she wasn't impressed with either possibility.

There were many other cars on the road. If anything went wrong, the consequences would be unimaginable.

"Wow! That's the latest Lamborghini. No wonder he is so arrogant!" remarked Magee Han excitedly with a tinge of jealousy.

Once again, his voice snapped Sharon out of her reverie. She realized that he was talking about the same car that she had just seen.

It was a premium sports car.

Maybe some rich man was flaunting his wealth.

Her window was half open, and wisps of air blew into the car wantonly, whipping up her thick hair, making her look messy but sexy at the same time.

She smoothed her hair, which was blocking her vision. After she was done, she could only manage to catch a glimpse of the back of the sports car before it raced ahead.

"I finally understand why men are so obsessed with luxury sports cars."

Speed and thrill were what they pursued actually.

Magee Han whistled and smiled at her cheerfully, showing his agreement.

They turned a corner and met another red light. While waiting, she saw the sports car stopping on the opposite side of the road.

A lean figure stepped out of the car. Her heart skipped a beat. She stared without blinking as the figure disappeared into the jewelry store. She was flustered with the strong sense of familiarity that bubbled inside her. For some inexplicable reason, she felt very anxious.

"Sharon, what's wrong? Why have you gone pale?"

She took a deep breath and the fresh air made her feel better.

She smiled at him and said, "I'm fine. Maybe I'm worked up because of the traffic jam. Don't worry."

Just then, the red light turned green and the car started.

The mixed emotions fading away in her eyes, she finally lost sight of the sports car.

Sharon and Magee were in a high-end community housing.

Sharon looked around the room, which was about more than one hundred square meters. It was simple but chic, done up mainly in white and black, without any unnecessary furnishings. It looked neither empty nor crowded. It was a typical bachelor pad.

"So? What do you think? Not bad, right?" asked Magee confidently. He had moved her luggage to the guest room.

Sharon nodded appreciatively. "Very good, suits you."

"You have good taste!" he said cheekily with a wink. "Get some rest. I'm going back to the office. Call me if you need anything."

After Magee left, Sharon went back to the guest room, opened her suitcase, took out her daily essentials and a fresh pair of clothes, and went to the bathroom.

After a while, the sound of running water came from the bathroom, and gradually the glass door was covered in condensation.

She closed her eyes and allowed the warm water to run down her body from head to toe. Water droplets shimmered like crystals on her fair skin.

The white-hot steam filled up the bathroom, making her feel like she was in a dream.

All of a sudden, a pair of dark eyes flashed in her mind. Her eyes flew open in surprise.

Bewildered, she looked around the bathroom and found that she was alone.

A hint of disappointment flashed across Sharon's eyes. She washed herself as fast as she could, got dressed, and walked out to the living room.

Looking down from the fifteen floor, she could see more than half of the city sprawled out below her. Cars zipped past the roads and crowds were milling about. Everyone was living their own different lives.

The city had a population of tens or hundreds of millions of people.

This meant that it would not be easy to run into that man in this city.

What about fate?

After so many years, would he still remember her?

Would he still remember what he had said? Sharon closed her eyes, trying to shut out the anticipation in her mind.

She told herself they would meet again if they were destined to meet.

And if they didn't, it only meant that they weren't fated to be together.
