Chapter 1 First Chapter.

Recently, I've been swimming in an ocean of despair, but as we drew nearer to the dilapidated old home, I felt a flutter of joy that echoed through the sadness. In spite of the fact that the home was not in the least bit modern or flashy, it exceeded my expectations in a number of diverse ways. We packed up our two-bedroom flat in a terrible neighbourhood in Sacramento and headed east. We've moved to a different state. The daily commute had turned into a source of unending stress for her. Though I was excited to begin a new phase of my life, I couldn't help but make plans for the worst.

To say that I dislike living with my mother and her husband for the last three years would be an understatement, yet that is precisely what has occurred. My dear grandma raised me and took care of me throughout my life, but she passed away a few years ago. Only my grandma could provide me a place to stay, and my mother was unable to do so. All she wants is for me to call her "Ashina." She treated me like I was nothing more than a stray child she found on the street. Ashina and I have what can only be regarded as a non-existent relationship, which, in essence, means that she acts as if I do not exist, and I try my best to keep out of her way. Our dynamic can only be fully understood in this light. It's because she's married that things have become complicated. Unfortunately, Kane's drinking makes him a true jerk. Kane enjoys alcohol much more than is healthy for him. I try to avoid Kane's company while he's been drinking to protect myself from any potentially dangerous actions he could take. We very recently uprooted our lives and went all the way to Georgia, as Ashina had been granted a job there. Ashina ended up footing much of the expense because of Kane's unreliability on the job. The majority of my jobs just asked me to put in half a day. I had to shell out cash from my own pocket since Ashina refused to pay for our basic needs. The new home was far bigger than I had anticipated. It seemed pretty ancient due to the chipped white paint and the skewed porch that extended from the front of the home. When we first found out we were moving across the country, one of the things I was most looking forward to was the chance of obtaining a new bedroom of my very own. When I lived in Sacramento, all I did to modify my bedroom was build a curtain so that I would be physically isolated from the dining area, which was used very occasionally. It was Kane's intention to transform the second bedroom into an office. I parked in the driveway, hopped out, did some stretching, and threw my rucksack over my shoulder before walking up to the front door. Due to the fact that I had sufficient past experience with this method, I was able to filter out Ashina and Kane's argument. I overheard the beginning of their argument. Even though the front porch moaned and creaked every time I crossed it, I didn't mind it. I took advantage of the solitude by reading a book and lounging on the porch. Kane seldom went anywhere outside the booze shop when he did go out. Ashina let Kane in via the front door, and Kane was already inside. I wasted no time making the ascent to the second level and my bedroom. "The smallest of the chambers is the one known as Lovota. Don't lose sight of the importance of keeping it in mind. I wasn't going to forget, but Ashina prodded me nonetheless, just in case. As soon as I walked upstairs and had a look around, I was incredibly pleased that the lavatory was positioned in such close proximity to my bedroom. After briefly scoping out Ashina and Kane's bedroom, I couldn't help but break out in a broad grin. The fact that Kane would leave me alone for a change was a huge relief, and the attached bathroom made it feasible. When Kane was under the influence of alcohol, he would put our partnership through its paces on a regular basis. He was perceptive, and he refrained from engaging in conduct like that if Ashina was there. When I was in Kane's company, I was never able to escape the notion that I needed to be on high alert. This feeling never went away. It wasn't the first time he'd become violent, but while he was drunk, he was a lot simpler to get away from. This time, however, he attacked me physically. As soon as I walked into my bedroom, I saw that the paint on the walls had begun to peel. I decided to take care of the problem immediately. As soon as I found work, I would be able to spruce up the look of this area so that it was more appropriate for a business setting. I opened a savings account as soon as I turned 16 and have been contributing to it ever since I could legally hold a job. In spite of the fact that I had an unblemished academic record, it was essential for me to have a Plan B in place in the event that I was not selected for a scholarship. My intention was to move away from this community as soon as I was eighteen years old, and the idea never left my mind. I put my backpack down on the ground and made a cursory survey of my immediate environment before continuing. Even if there wasn't much room, there were still four walls and a door that worked perfectly (both opening and closing). A shabby queen-sized bed and an old dresser made of wood were tucked away in one of the room's nooks, up against the other wall. I ran downstairs as fast as I could, and despite the fact that carrying the heavy baggage was a challenge, I was able to get it from the trunk of Ashina's vehicle. While Ashina and Kane continued to quarrel, I took advantage of their disagreement to successfully carry my suitcase to the top of the stairs in a timely manner. Thanks to their argument, I had plenty of time. My carry-on luggage was just the right size to accommodate all of my essentials. Even though I didn't have many clothes, I had resigned myself to the terrible truth of the situation. I had grown used to it. I shoved the few articles of clothes I had into the dirty drawer, and the following morning, I went through the drawer to find an outfit to go to school. When it came to getting me registered at the public school located in our area, Ashina had not spent any time at all. Anything that may get me out of the house and away from the receding hairline that Kane is growing would be much appreciated. Before I dashed down the stairs, I hastily slid my debit card into the back pocket of my jeans. During the time that Kane was putting up the little television in the living room, Ashina had her back turned to me and was having an argument with Kane. The inquiry "Where do you think you're going?" is meant to be taken in a rhetorical sense. As soon as I opened the entrance to the front porch, Ashina whirled around to confront me and let out an angry shout. I had to make a conscious effort to suppress the desire to give her the evil eye and roll my eyes at her. In the past, she never exhibited the slightest bit of curiosity in the locations I visited. I just shrugged my shoulders and stated with a deadpan laugh, "I'm going to go find something for dinner." I no longer participate in the tradition of having dinner with Ashina and Kane as I used to a long time ago. I was resolute about avoiding giving any of the money that I earned to Ashina, despite the fact that the court had assigned her to serve as my legal guardian until I turned eighteen. On the other hand, I was solely reliant on the resources that I had at my disposal in order to make ends meet. "While you're out, pick up a case of beer for me." Kane blew up, his piercing eyes narrowing in concentration as he peered at the hazy image on the screen. Because this individual was such an idiot, I couldn't help but grit my teeth in exasperation. "I am seventeen years old." As I spun on my heel and walked for the front door, Kane was muttering something, but I didn't pay any attention to what he was saying. As I turned into the main thoroughfare, I heaved a sigh into my own ear. My knowledge of my goal was nonexistent at that point. My eyes kept darting left and right a few times until I finally decided to go with the choice that was to my right. Simply locating a gas station was all that was required of me. I could get myself a bottle of water and a bag of chips, and that would be all I would need for the evening. I don't know how long I had been going along the main road, but it had to have been at least fifteen minutes when I glanced up with a sigh of relief as I saw a tiny corner store emerge in front of me. That was one facet of Sacramento that I enjoyed and would miss after moving away from the state. In the state of Sacramento, you can pretty much turn any way and find a petrol station, grocery store, or convenience store. This is because there are so many people living there. I walked inside the dingy convenience store and welcomed the young lady at the register as soon as I could. It was just a few years that separated us in age. Before stepping up to the checkout, the first thing I did was get a granola bar, a bag of chips, and a couple of bottles of water.

Chapter 2 Second Chapter.

"Hey, I was wondering if you knew where Westlake High School was located." During the process of swiping my debit card, I questioned the young girl. At the very least, she had to be in her early to mid-twenties while she was doing those things. Her tresses were jet black, yet each one had a thin thread of emerald green running through them. The young woman signaled that she agreed with "Sure do. " by nodding her head and pressing the register's buttons a few times. Simply continue down this route until you reach the junction, at which point you should turn left when the signal turns green.

She showed her assent by nodding her head in accord. "You won't be able to miss it." "Appreciate it." I gave her a short smile as I took the receipt she was holding out to me and then continued on. The young woman said as she looked up from operating the register, "You new around here?" "Is it really that clear?" It made me laugh out loud. Despite the fact that I haven't spent a significant amount of time there, it was clear that the town was not the largest in the surrounding region. The young woman smiled playfully as she nodded her head in assent, indicating her agreement with the statement. "The towns are no more than hamlets. The dwellings of the vast majority of people who live in the town may be found farther out from the town core, in the surrounding forest. She only shrugged her shoulders to indicate that she was unsurprised. The strange sound it produced caused me to raise an eyebrow, and I couldn't help myself. The question is, "Why not just live in town?" "I can't tell for sure. It would appear that the locals appreciate their own space. Then she offered a shrug. After exiting the convenience store, I was left feeling perplexed and a little on edge. The way the girl behaved left me with little reason to be enthusiastic about school tomorrow. If this town was actually that small, there was no way that I could have eluded anyone's observation. This time in the academic year marks the midpoint of my junior year. As soon as I finished the rest of this year, I would only have one more after that. If I could only hang on for one more year, I would finally be free of Ashina and Kane. The jingling of my old alarm clock was what woke me from slumber. It was six o'clock in the morning, which provided me plenty of time to get ready for the day and go to school. Ashina would already be at work, and Kane wouldn't generally get up until 11 o'clock or later in the morning. I silently crept out of my sleeping quarters and into the bathroom, trying to avoid making any noise. When Kane was awake, he was an ongoing nightmare for everyone who woke him up. I went into the bathroom of the place where I was staying and combed through my long, dark brown hair with the brush that was there. I was the only member of Ashinaa's mother's side of the family who did not have unusually light blonde hair, which helped to emphasize the fact that I was an anomaly in the family. In addition to this, I have a condition, which is a very rare sickness, and it makes it seem as if each of my eyes is a different colour. In contrast to the hue of my left eye, which was an extraordinarily vibrant blue, the colour of my right eye seemed like a rich chocolate brown. My grandfather was seldom the subject of my grandmother's conversation, and when she did bring up my father, it was just in passing; yet, she never failed to mention that he had the same illness that she had. Even though I was Ashina's mother, I had a sneaky hunch that this was the reason why she didn't like me. I had a strange sense that this was the reason why Ashina didn't like me. Because of an unfortunate event that occurred between her and my father, he decided to disown both of us and go on without us. On the first of every month, Grandma would get a peculiar check, and the check would always be written out to me. This would happen every single month. The checks began coming to Ashinaa as well, not long after I moved in with her after I had already been living with her. The one and only difference was that she used them not just for Kane but also for herself. When I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror, I couldn't help but frown. I often got the feeling that I was a walking abnormality in the world. At the last school I attended, despite the fact that I had some wonderful friends there, there were always those pupils who bullied me because of the condition I had. It was not until a very late stage in my life that I was able to see and appreciate the attractive qualities inherent in that facet of my personality. I swiftly got dressed in an ordinary and unimpressive outfit for the occasion. An uncomplicated getup that consists of a standard pair of skinny jeans, a white tank top, and a black jacket. The objective was to blend in with the background as much as possible. I was in such a hurry to get out of the house that I grabbed a granola bar on the way out the door. I had bought it the day before. After following the young lady's instructions in the letter, I discovered to my relief that the school wasn't situated in a particularly remote area. Walking there took up the majority of my day, and by the time I got to the school, practically all of the parking spaces were taken. Students hurriedly got out of their cars and made their way to the main entrance of the structure after parking their cars. The atmosphere all around us was alive with a variety of conversations and idle chatter. I blended in with the student swarm and made an attempt to become unnoticeable against the backdrop of the scene. My first stop was at the workplace, which I had no trouble locating at any point throughout my journey. People could find their way to the little workplace thanks to the humongous sign that was suspended from the ceiling. "Why, hello there, sweetheart." As she walked past, a plump woman wearing a purple pinafore and large glasses that hung low on her face smiled at me. "Are you new around here?" I gave her a brief smile, nodded in her direction, and then introduced myself as "Lovota Jacob." I was given my grandpa's last name when I was a child, and despite Ashina's desire that I change it to my boyfriend Kane's last name, I adamantly refused to do so. My grandfather passed away when I was a child. "What a lovely moniker." The woman seemed like she was having fun as she rummaged through the pile of papers with a smile on her face. "Here you are, Ms. Lovota," the speaker stated to the listener. She gave me a smile as she turned her head in my direction. "I am grateful." I grinned as a response and then turned to leave the office after I finished my sentence. I was looking down at the class schedule that she had just given me at the moment when I inadvertently ran into someone else. She had given it to me at that very moment. I might have been misled into believing that it was a stone wall if it weren't for the overwhelming smell of perfume that was coming off of him. The moment I sat down, my bottom fell with a thud on the floor, and there was an immediate silence in the hallway. My jaw hit the ground when I looked up at the person I had just collided with for the first time after the accident. My line of sight was directed towards a pair of identical twins, each of whom seemed to be rather irate and was pretty large. I had never seen two lads who looked like they did before; it seemed as if they ought to have been featured on the cover of a magazine rather than attending a high school. I had no idea where they were. Both of them had a really dashing appearance. Both of their eyes were almost as dark as the rest of their skin, both of their jaw lines were strong, and their hair was pitch black. Even though each of them had an incredible amount of muscle on their bodies, they nonetheless managed to keep their bodies in an athletic shape. The hair on top of one of the twins' heads was buzzed short, while the hair on the sides and back of his head was kept longer. The hair of the other twin was long enough to reach the tops of his ears, but it was disheveled in a manner that most men's hair aspires to but never quite accomplishes. Every single one of them was stunningly lovely in their very own unique manner. A tall blonde was clinging to the arm of one of the twins, and the woman's face was deformed into the shape of a heart as she glared in amazement. The expression was on one of the twins. "What the hell is wrong with her eyes?" "What the hell is wrong with her eyes?" The tall blonde sneered at me while staring down at me with an air of superiority, as if I were a worthless piece of trash. My attention was immediately drawn to the two god-like twins who were towering above me, so I only gave the blonde the briefest of looks as they stood there. The manner in which they were staring at one another gave the impression that they were engaged in some sort of conversation in their brains. I focused all of my attention on resisting the need to roll my eyes, but before I could stop myself, I had already spoken in answer to the question. "It's a matter of fact." "You fucking freak." "fucking freak." There was a fight among the blondes. When you do this again, make sure you give careful attention to where you are going. Following the completion of their sentence, the very beautiful twins and the tall blonde rose to their feet and exited the room. The fact that the twins had not spoken with me in any way, shape, or form was perplexing to me since I was unable to determine if this was a good or bad turn of events. The look in their eyes was as cold as ice, and when I saw that stare, I got the eerie feeling that I was looking into the eyes of those who were going to be tormenting me in the future. It was turning out to be a nightmare all on its own because I had made the decision to be by myself.

Chapter 3 Third Chapter.

I managed to get myself up off the ground and find my way to the storage area where my belongings were stored. It was impossible for me to resist looking down each and every hallway.

There is a little, small part of me that yearns to look at the twins once again and let my imagination travel all over them once more. After having a serious conversation with myself about how essential it is to remain unnoticed and to blend in with the surroundings, I resolved to avoid them at all costs and made it a priority to do so.

It was a comfort that I did not have to deal with either of those two categories of children while I was in first grade. When I got there, the teacher pointed me in the direction of a seat in the back, and when I got there, I settled down next to a girl who wore thick glasses and had red hair that was coiled in a bun.

Before presenting herself to me and telling me her name, she gave me a bashful smile and gave me her name. "My name is Daciana." The fiery-haired woman with the curls smiled at me, and I responded by flashing a trembling smile of mine in her direction.

After getting my thoughts together, I went to the curious youngsters surrounding us and introduced myself as Lovota."Holy cow, that's an awesome name." Daciana, who was standing in the background, could be seen scribbling on a piece of paper.

My response was a shrug and the phrase "my father chose it."

"Charlie was the name that my father wanted to give me." The expression of disbelief on Daciana's face made me laugh out loud. "By the way, your eyes have a really nice appearance."

"Appreciate it." Since it was so unusual for someone to comment on my eyes' good condition, I couldn't help but grin. A childhood buddy of mine had the same issue, except it affected just one eye. Daciana flashed a smile in the direction I was heading.

After practically stumbling into the god-like twins earlier, I spent the length of the session speaking with Daciana and attempted to ask questions about them in a way that didn't make it too evident that I was referring to them.

That cute pair of identical twins Daciana's cheeks began to pink as she focused intently on the page she was editing. There is a line that says "Lowell and Duko."

"Which one is supposed to be which?" I scowled at them. Their names appeared to be an excellent representation of their gritty, unpolished selves.

Daciana said with a scowl, "I always get them mixed up, but I'm pretty sure the one with the longer hair is Duko and the other one is Lowell." There was some hesitancy in her voice.

"Oh, right." To answer your question, yes, I did it. No matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't seem to escape the picture of the two of them in my thoughts. No matter how hard I tried, it was not working. They glared at me with such hostility and disdain that I couldn't help but feel thrown off balance. However, I still couldn't help but think about them.

"If I were you, I wouldn't bother messing with them at all." Daciana shook her head condescendingly and said, "They sleep around a lot." "I didn't factor that into my plans." I nodded and smiled in a friendly manner. At that precise moment, I decided there was absolutely no chance in hell that I would ever get close to the twins again. They would never even consider the possibility of a love relationship with someone like myself. It seems that they were more interested in attractive ladies who may as well be models.

You had no idea what to expect from me, and you were dead wrong. I often avoided social situations because I felt and probably looked awkward. While conversing aimlessly with Daciana during the last weekend, I had the bright idea to make some arrangements. She described working as a waitress at a local establishment and offered to help me get a job there if I was interested. She promised to pick me up from school the day following the interview and take me to the restaurant.

"It's not fancy or anything, but it's the fanciest we have in this town," the proprietor joked about the establishment's degree of sophistication. Then, with a shrug, Daciana elaborated. On the other side, if you are adept at flirting with customers, you may wind up with some pretty substantial tips. Those words made me chuckle, but its true: "I have no idea how to be flirty."

I was quite nervous and anxious about the prospect of working as a server. The more nervous I became, the clumsier I seemed, and the last thing anybody wanted was a server who would ruin their clothes by knocking over their drinks. It seemed like the last thing anybody wanted was for me to spill beverages all over their nice clothing.

Your skill set will undoubtedly expand. It's a requirement of the job that can't be avoided. Then, with a shrug, Daciana elaborated. When I walked into my next session and saw Daciana seated in the back, I knew that it was going to be a great day for me. For a long time, I had hoped for this opportunity.

We picked up where we left off talking about it in the next class.

"There are some good people among these folks, too." Continuing her encouraging grin, Daciana told me, "You won't have any trouble surviving as long as you stay away from Lovel and her friends." I listened to her advice and stayed away from Lovel and her friends.

With a frown on my face, I said, "Lovel?" She's the young woman in brunette who's always hanging around with the twins. After receiving a reply from Daciana, I was able to put a face with the name. Lovel was the young girl who, while having the look of a supermodel, addressed me in an insulting way. This is a fantastic way to kick things off, but I fear I missed my chance. I scowled at them.

Daciana, trembling slightly, advised that the twins be avoided at all costs in the future. She's showing a lot of guardedness towards Lowell since she's with him now.

In spite of the fact that I was more than eager to take Daciana up on her advice, it appeared that my recent run of good luck had come to an end.

After that, the two of them came to my next session. They had the whole room to themselves, and they were all sitting at a large square table. As the instructor motioned for me to join the group at their table, my stomach dropped, and my heart almost stopped beating.

My foot accidentally brushed over the leg of another person's table as I made my way towards the rear of the room, and I almost lost my footing and fell down. In the nick of time, I managed to pull myself together and suppress my need to join in the other kids' laughter.

I felt like my stomach was about to flip out of my body and my face was on fire, but I slipped down to the table where the twins were seated. Until I could control the pace at which my heart was thumping, I avoided making direct eye contact with any of them.

Realising that I was being watched by two people at once, I heaved a nervous sigh. By cocking my head to the side, I was able to look directly into each of the twins' eyes. They were both sitting across the table from me, staring intently into my own pair of dark eyes.

Being able to view them from such close proximity was a blessing and a curse. Because of this, I was able to examine them extensively. That came as a divine favour. As I got closer, I could feel the attraction becoming stronger. Despite Lowell having a somewhat more muscular physique than his brother, the two brothers were practically identical in appearance.

Thick brows, long eyelashes, and full lips are an appealing face combination. Sitting there by myself, I attempted to weigh my options and decide which path to choose, but I couldn't. For a time, I just sat there. Both were so stunningly beautiful that I had trouble picking a favourite.

"Oh, look, it's Lovel." A wide grin accompanied Duko's delivery of the sentences. "It's the young girl with the odd eyes," the man identified the suspect as saying.
