Rosette's POV
I slammed the glass door of that hellhole so hard it rattled in its frame. My hands were still shaking as I clutched the sad cardboard box containing everything left of my so-called career - a dying succulent, my worn sketchbook, and the resignation letter they forced me to sign.
Fired.
Just like that. All because I refused to get on my knees for my disgusting boss.
Tears burned behind my eyes, but I refused to let them fall. Not here. Not in front of the colleagues who had watched it happen and said nothing. At twenty-four, I was supposed to be climbing, building something real. Instead, I was drowning in my mother's mounting hospital bills and the memory of my ex's parting words: "You're too ambitious, Rosette. No man wants a woman who's always working."
Screw him. Screw all of them.
Tonight, I didn't want to be the responsible daughter, the diligent designer, or the heartbroken good girl. Tonight, I wanted to disappear.
I went home, showered off the humiliation, and slipped into the only dress I owned that made me feel dangerous - a tight black number that clung to every curve, with a neckline that dipped low and a hem that promised trouble. I stared at my reflection for a second. Emerald eyes, flushed cheeks, wavy dark hair still damp. Good enough.
I called an Uber straight to Eclipse, the exclusive rooftop bar I'd only seen in glossy magazines and Instagram posts I could never afford.
The second I stepped out onto the glittering rooftop, the cool night breeze brushed my bare shoulders and the city skyline sparkled below like a sea of diamonds. Deep bass mixed with smooth jazz vibrated through my body. Crystal chandeliers swayed overhead. This place smelled like money, perfume, and bad decisions.
Perfect.
I ordered the strongest martini on the menu and found a quiet spot near the glass railing. The first burning sip made my eyes water in the best way.
"Rough night?"
The deep, velvet voice slid over me like warm honey. I turned, and my breath caught in my throat.
Holy hell.
He was tall - easily over six-four - with broad shoulders perfectly framed in a tailored black suit that screamed power and wealth. Sharp jawline, tousled dark hair, and piercing gray eyes that locked onto mine like he could see every dirty secret I was trying to drown tonight. Heat radiated from him. This man wasn't just attractive. He was dangerous.
"You could say that," I answered, surprised my voice came out steady.
He didn't ask if he could join me. He simply moved closer, leaning against the railing beside me. The scent of him - sandalwood, spice, and something darkly masculine - wrapped around me. My pulse quickened.
"Most people come here to celebrate wins," he murmured, his gaze sliding slowly down my body before returning to my face. "You look like you're trying to erase something."
A shiver ran down my spine. He was blunt. Bold. Exactly what I needed.
"Maybe I am," I said, lifting my chin to meet those intense gray eyes. "And maybe I don't want to talk about it."
A slow, devastating smirk curved his lips. My stomach flipped.
"Good," he replied, voice dropping lower. "Because I'm not interested in talking either."
The air between us crackled. No names. No pasts. No tomorrow. Just this raw, electric pull that made my skin tingle and my thighs press together.
He stepped closer, towering over me, one strong hand resting on the railing near my hip. He wasn't touching me, but I felt caged by him in the most delicious way.
"Tell me what you want tonight," he commanded softly.
The words left my mouth before my brain could stop them.
"I want to forget my name."
His gray eyes darkened with pure hunger. He leaned down, lips brushing the shell of my ear, sending heat straight between my legs.
"Then for tonight... you're mine."
Rosette's POV
I didn't hesitate.
Something about this man made every rational thought in my head dissolve into static. My body moved before my mind could catch up, following him through the glittering crowd on the rooftop. The bass of the music pulsed through my veins like a second heartbeat as his large hand settled possessively on my lower back. The heat of his palm burned through the thin fabric of my black dress, branding me.
He guided me with effortless confidence, like he owned the entire place. Maybe he did. People parted for him without him saying a word. We reached a private VIP booth tucked away in a shadowed corner, draped in heavy velvet curtains that muffled the outside noise the moment they fell closed behind us.
He motioned for me to sit first. I slid onto the plush leather seat, suddenly hyper-aware of how short my dress was riding up my thighs. He settled beside me-close, too close, his powerful thigh brushing against mine.
A server appeared instantly. Without asking what I wanted, the stranger ordered a bottle of what I was certain would be their most expensive vodka and two crystal glasses. His voice was low, commanding, and smooth as aged whiskey.
"You're used to giving orders," It wasn't a statement, it was a fact. Even as I tried to sound casual my pulse hammered in my throat.
His gray eyes locked onto mine, dark and unreadable. A faint smirk tugged at the corner of his lips. "And you're used to fighting them."
I opened my mouth to deny it, but the words died when his fingers brushed lightly over my bare knee under the table. Just a feather-light touch, yet it sent electricity racing straight between my legs.
We barely spoke after that. The drinks arrived, and he poured for both of us. Every time our eyes met, the air grew thicker, heavier. I took a sip, the cold liquid burning down my throat, but it did nothing to cool the fire spreading through my body.
"You're dangerous," he murmured after a long, charged silence, his gaze dropping to my lips. "Most women in a dress like that want attention. You look like you want to disappear... yet here you are, letting a stranger put his hands on you."
His fingers traced higher on my thigh, slow and deliberate. I shivered, my breath catching.
"Maybe I'm tired of being good," I whispered.
His hand slid further, gripping my thigh with enough pressure to make me gasp softly. Then he leaned in, his lips brushing the sensitive skin just below my ear. "Good girls don't come to places like this looking like temptations."
Before I could respond, his mouth claimed mine.
The kiss was hungry, demanding, and devastating. He tasted like vodka and power. His hand moved to the back of my neck, tilting my head exactly how he wanted as he deepened the kiss. I moaned into his mouth, my fingers instinctively curling into the lapels of his expensive suit. Heat pooled low in my belly as his tongue stroked mine with expert dominance.
When he finally pulled back, my lips felt swollen and my breathing was ragged. His eyes had turned storm-dark.
He didn't ask. He simply stood, offering his hand. I took it. The second I was on my feet, he pulled me flush against his hard body. One arm wrapped around my waist as he led me out of the booth and onto the dance floor.
The music wrapped around us, sensual and slow. He spun me once, then pressed my back against his chest, his hips rolling against mine in perfect rhythm. I could feel every inch of him. He was hard, warm, and unmistakably aroused. His lips grazed my neck as one hand splayed possessively across my stomach, holding me tight.
"I'm taking you home tonight," he whispered against my ear, voice rough with desire. "And when I do... I'm not letting you leave until you've forgotten every man who came before me."
My knees nearly buckled.
God help me... I didn't want him to let me go.
Rosette's POV
I didn't even hesitate when he led me out of Eclipse.
The cool night air hit my flushed skin as we stepped onto the private elevator that descended straight to the underground parking. His black Maybach waited like a sleek predator under the dim lights. The driver didn't say a word as my stranger held the door open for me. I slid into the buttery leather seat, heart hammering so hard I was sure he could hear it.
The moment the door closed behind him, the world outside disappeared. Tinted windows. Complete privacy. Just us.
The car purred to life and pulled smoothly into the city streets. Before I could catch my breath, his hand was back on my thigh - higher this time, fingers slipping beneath the hem of my short black dress. The touch was bold, possessive, and unapologetic.
I sucked in a sharp breath as his palm slid slowly upward, brushing the sensitive skin of my inner thigh. Heat flooded through me, making my core throb with need.
"You're shaking," he murmured, voice low and rough in the dark interior of the car. His gray eyes gleamed as he watched my reaction.
"I've never done this," I whispered, my voice barely audible over the soft hum of the engine.
"Done what?" His fingers traced teasing circles higher. "Let a stranger take you home... or let yourself feel this alive?"
"Both," I admitted breathlessly.
A dark, satisfied smile curved his lips. He leaned in and captured my mouth in a deep, devouring kiss. I melted into him, my hands fisting his shirt as his tongue stroked mine with filthy promise. His hand continued its exploration, fingertips brushing against the lace of my panties. I moaned into his mouth, hips instinctively lifting toward his touch.
The city lights blurred past the windows in streaks of gold and neon, but nothing outside mattered. Only his hands. Only his mouth. Only this reckless, desperate need burning between us.
By the time the Maybach pulled up to a gleaming skyscraper, I was trembling with want. My dress was bunched around my hips, my lipstick was gone, and my body felt like it was on fire.
He helped me out of the car with surprising gentleness, then guided me through the private lobby. No one looked at us twice. We stepped into his personal elevator - all mirrored walls and soft golden lighting.
The second the doors slid shut, he was on me.
He pushed me against the cool mirror, his hard body pinning me in place. His mouth crashed down on mine, hungry and demanding. One large hand gripped my thigh, lifting it around his waist as he ground against me. I could feel how hard he was through his trousers; thick, insistent, and huge.
"Fuck," he growled against my neck, biting down gently before soothing the spot with his tongue. His other hand roamed over my breasts, squeezing through the fabric of my dress, thumb brushing over my hardened nipple.
I gasped, arching into him, my fingers tangling in his dark hair. Every touch sent sparks shooting through my veins. I was soaked, aching, completely lost in the feeling of being wanted this intensely.
The elevator dinged softly as it reached the top floor. The doors opened directly into his penthouse.
He didn't give me time to admire the breathtaking view of the glittering city skyline or the luxurious modern space. In one smooth motion, he lifted me effortlessly, my legs wrapping around his waist as if they belonged there.
My back hit the wall just inside the penthouse as he kicked the elevator door closed behind us.
He pulled back just enough to look into my eyes, breathing hard, his gray gaze burning with raw hunger.
"Last chance to run, beautiful."
