Blue Maid

"Hey, get back here Nina. You're cheating" Kyl said and swam towards Nina, trying to grab her tail but she was too quick. She dodged and swam towards the right hand corner of the sea.

"when we started to play, you didn't say we couldn't cheat. Besides its making the game fun" Nina replied and swam farther away from Kyl.

"Really? You agree with cheating? Fine I'll show you how it's done."

Then she swam towards a pile of sea rocks and picked a small one. She swam as fast as she could then threw the rock at Nina.

Nina wasnt expecting it and so the rock hit her right arm and she winced in pain. And stopped swimming immediately. She lost focus and Kyl overtook her.

"Hey Kyl. This is absurd. You don't have to hurt me" Nina said with a pout

"Hahaha. Cheating is cheating. Even if the parties get hurt"

"Help me out already. My arm hurts"

Then Kyl swam down and held Nina's arm.

"It's not that bad. Come on, let's hurry up and go to the shore before the humans arrive" Kyl said

Suddenly she grabbed her arm and pulled her out of the way and started swimming away

"What? You're a bad bad mermaid." Kyl exclaimed

She began to swim to her. Both trying to overtake each other and giggling at each others jokes.

They were already at the shore. Some fishes were swimming in groups and the two mermaids swam through them and waved at them. Normally, the fishes at the upper part of the sea were scared of mer-beings. Which includes the mermaids and mermen but they weren't scared of Nina and Kyl cause they were regular faces and had made friends with the fishes. So they were not scared anymore.

The two teens popped their heads up out of the water and looked at the land which was not far away.

Unlike other sea creatures, mer-beings could breathe outside water.

"we're here" that was from Nina

"looks like the humans haven't arrived yet" Kyl said as she looked around

"Yes, come on let's go"

The two of them dived back and swam towards the shore. They got to the sand and placed their hands on it.

"Wow. It's chilly. Early morning chill"

"the janitors aren't here yet. Let's see what we can find out of this messy beach" Nina opined

With that, they both brought out their magical pearls they got from their periwinkle friends.

"Fins to feet and tails to thighs, later we'll swim but now we'll walk." they both sang

The pearls began to sparkle and their tails turned to legs. They both giggle

"come on Nina, let's go savaging."

They got to the sand and began to walk without a proper dress. It was only the shells they used as a bra that was still on and a leafy skirt, making them look like island dwellers.

The humans had littered the beach and trash was everywhere.

Some were useful such as stuff forgotten by the people or even the ones they lost.

"WOW, what's this?" Kyl asked looking amazed. It was actually a video game that a 10year old misplaced on the beach

"It's really colourful. I like it. I wonder what it's for?" Nina mumbled

Then Kyl pressed a huge red button and the screen came alive with a loud sound or music that startled her, making her fall involuntarily to the ground

"Hahahahaha. You look hilarious Kyl." Nina laughed

She helped her to stand up and they continued to search the place finding so many interesting things and having so much fun.

Then it was almost sun rise, they had to get going because the janitor always comes to clean up the place by sun rise.

They got into the water

"Well time to go home. Bye bye human world. We'll come back tomorrow" Nina said to the land

"Hahahahaha. As if it can hear you. It doesn't have magic to listen to what you're saying"

"I think it can. Hey Kyl imagine what would happen to us if king Neptune should find out that we always sneak out and go to the human world" Nina stated

"We'll be dead or thrown into the dungeon already. Haha come on let's say our wishes" Kyl said and the both of them got ready to say their wish

"Feet to fins, thighs to tail. Later we'll walk but now we'll swim!"

They transformed into mermaids again and dived deep into the depths of the blue sea, heading back home to the city of Neptune.

And not less 5mins later, the janitor came to do his work but was surprised to see it all cleaned up and bright. The two mermaids had used their magical powers to clean it up.

The janitor was really happy and began to relax under a coconut tree.

Ten years later

"Oh no! Both ma'am Kyl and ma'am Nina are in labor now. Call the midwife's attention now!" Elle, a mermaid sounded

"Okay Elle, I'll do that now." her friend replied

She took off and minutes later she returned with the midwife. They got into the delivery chamber and attended to both Kyl and Nina.

In less than 5mins Nina brought out her merchild. A very beautiful Little Mermaid, she was really unique.

Her tail was bright blue, eyes were also blue and she had a blue birthmark at the back of her neck.

She was really beautiful and sharp

"What would you name her?" Elle asked

"She's BLUE. My own Blue" Nina replied

"5...6...7...8...9......10! Ready or not, here I come!" Blue said and began to swim round the sea rocks, dashing through sea weeds and looking at places a mermaid could possibly be hiding.

"Rainbow, where are you?"

Right then she heard a squeak behind her at the back of some tall water plants.

She slowly swam towards them and peeped through. She saw a sparkling tail fin with rainbow colors.

She quickly and swiftly pulled the plants apart and yelled

"gotcha!!"

"ahhhhh! You scared me" her friend Rainbow exclaimed

"did you think I wouldn't find you? The squeaking toy mother gave you is in your hand and it squeaked, so I found you"

"ohh! why didn't I drop it at home" Rainbow pouted

"hahaha, my turn. Close your eyes" Blue said

Rainbow closed her eyes and began to count and Blue tried to hide but just then, Kyl began to call Rainbow.

"Rainbow, it's time for your lessons. Come out here now" Ma'am Kyl, Rainbow's mother called

"oh no! Mother's calling me already, I have to go now Blue. We'll play later."

Then she began to swim away

"wait for me, let's go home together"

Then she began to swim faster, trying to catch up with Rainbow

Blue and Rainbow were born on the same day, but Blue was born first. Rainbow also got her name from the color of her tail.

Right from when they were toddlers, they were best friends just like their mothers were. Always playing and working together. They both got the characteristis of their mothers, lively, hardworking, stubborn and cheerful.

Rainbow is somehow stupid, in fact really silly in a funny way.

She always brings silly ideas, played way too much and was most at times too cheerful.

Blue on the other hand was bold, witty and cheerful too.

When it comes to bringing of ideas, she always did it but when it comes to playing silly pranks on other mer-beings, Rainbow took the lead.

Together they were a great team

(YEARS LATER)

Blue and Rainbow are now teenagers and had grown into beautiful mer-maids. They were still very hardworking and cheerful as they were when they were kids.

Nothing really changed about their characters.

(NEPTUNE'S CASTLE)

All the mer-teens are gathered at the King's castle. He had summoned all of them for a special orientation. King Neptune didn't arrive immediately and so there was noise all over the ballroom. Suddenly three red octopuses showcased and began to beat a talking drum signifying the need for decorum. King Neptune came riding in a magical carriage controlled by magical sea horses.

"attention y'all! Youths of Neptune City, behold your king!" The king's right hand man proclaimed

Then all the youths gave a slight bow while the king cleared his throat.

"welcome the future of the sea. Today I have called on you all for your orientation. You will be given special lessons after which you'll be officially inaugurated as middle class members of the city of Neptune." The king said

Then he paused slightly, leaving an awkward silence round the ballroom because it was only his voice that was echoing through the silent room.

"nowmes a time when every youth in this kingdom will be trained up to be a respectful and responsible citizen of Neptune. You all will be divided into classes and would be trained in these classes for complete 2 months."

"I'm tired....." Rainbow whispered to Blue

"shussh........ Listen to the king." Blue whispered back

"but he's taking too much time talking"

"rainbow shush or you're gonna put us in trouble"

A merman observes them talking and slowing swims over to them.

"what are you girls talking about? You're distracted already. Now listen...." He whispered to them his name was Jace

" W..w..wo..ww..."

Rainbow had lost herself at the sight of Jace. She couldn't believe they were standing together and he actually spoke to her.

Jace was her crush. She really liked him but only Blue knew about it. He was cute and well built with orange tail which matched his fair skin. His hair was slightly long, it reached his ears and it was dark. His muscles were really firm and he had the coolest voice.

Rainbow kept staring at these features and getting lost in her imagination until Blue snapped her out of it.

"Rainbow concentrate"

Then she stood erect and focused on the king, she didn't want to create a wrong first impression with Jace. To her depression, he turned and swam back to his initial position.

"the royal servants are going to hand over to you a bar. The color of your bar signifies your class." A voice announced

Then the servants began to distribute the bars of blue, pink, green, purple and yellow.

Rainbow sighted Jace with the blue bar while she was with yellow. Her eyes saddened and Blue noticed it and traced her gaze to Jace's hand.

"take mine. The servant purposely gave me blue cos of my eyes and tail."

"really... Thanks Blue but I want us to be in the same class as well"

" wait right here"

Then she collected her yellow bar and swam to a group of friends.

"Hey girls" she hailed at them

"Hey" they hailed back

Blue turned to Mania, one of the girls and said "Please Mania let's exchange bars, the blue bar matches my eyes and tail"

"Yeah it does. And I'm the only one with yellow here. Mania exchange it with her, let's be in the same class" Livia, a green tailed mermaid quipped

"Oh okay! Here you go Blue" Mania said

"Awwn.. Thanks a lot. Bye bye" Blue said after receiving the bar. She waved at the girls and swam away

"I got my blue bar" she waved it at Rainbow as soon as she reached her

"Yay!" Rainbow squealed

"Now let's get going"

A royal servant swims by and they ask him where the blue bar students are to stay and he pointed to one of the rooms.

They thanked him and he left.

Rainbow : last mermaid there is a rotten fish

Blue: what! You know you're faster than I when it comes to swimming. Let's not swim that.....

Before she could complete her sentence, Rainbow was already halfway there.

Blue: oh geez! Why is she that fast?

Jace: I might be faster than her

She turns back to see Jace holding his blue bar.

Blue: I don't think so. She's the fastest mermaid I've seen so far

Jace: why don't I know about her

Blue: it's cos we're the low life mer-beings. And you guys are the noble ones, our lives are different. So you hardly hear about us, but we know much about you guys.

Jace: oh I see. Well let's get going to class. Last one there is a....

Blue: no no no no no.... Let's not do that please

Jace: hahaha, OK

They both swim on to the classroom and Jace goes to meet someone.

Rainbow grabs Blue's arm and pulls her to a corner

Blue: ouch. Your fingers

Rainbow : forget about the fingers. What were u and Jace talking about?

Blue: nothing serious. We were just talking about fast mer-beings.

Rainbow : yess...

Blue: and I said it was you

Rainbow : then?

Blue: then he said he might be faster than you but I told him you were the fastest

Rainbow : is that all?

Blue : yes

Just then Blue heard her name at the counter and she slipped out of Rainbow's grip to answer it. But Rainbow was still there

Jace: hey

She turned back to see who it was. Her heart began to skip beats. She didn't know what to do, she began really stupid at that point.

Rainbow : uhmm, hi Jace

She managed to say after 30 secs of being stupid.

Jace: you know my name?

Rainbow : yeah! Who doesn't?

Jace: wow! Never knew a pretty mermaid knew my name and I don't know hers. Will she tell me?

Rainbow blushed and bowed her head to hide her red cheeks. Her hair fell over her face and she shoved it to the back of her ear and looked up

Jace: wait, let me guess. Your name is Rainbow

Rainbow : wow, how did you know

Jace: well I overheard someone calling your friend Blue and I think it's because of her tail and yours is rainbow-like, so you should be Rainbow

Rainbow : hahaha. Yeah

Jace: let's see each other more often than in class. I could use a friend in the average villa. Never been there before and I heard its really beautiful with nature and lots of other sea creatures and rocks.

Rainbow : yes it's really beautiful. Especially in the fish forest, Blue and I go there all the time

Jace: wow. So we're friends?

Rainbow : yes

Rainbow was so happy, she felt like that day was the happiest day in her life. It was a dream coming true...

Kyl and Nina are spending time together just like old times. They were sitting in front of Kyl's home and weaving flowers together.

Nina: how about we intertwine pink and white flowers together. It'd be beautiful .

Kyl: yes it would. Let's use water lilies for it.

Nina: oh my! Kyl do you remember when...

She looks around and whispers covering her left jaw slightly to prevent anyone from hearing

Nina: .....we went to the shore and ran into some humans dressing like flowers and plants

Kyl: hahaha....... Yeah that was about 25years ago. It seemed they were having some sort of festival... Haha, we were wearing our leafy covering then....

Nina: hahahaha, then one of the humans with a leafy outfit admired ours and took a picture with us. He said we looked like savages together

Kyl: that day was really fun. Hmm, the human world seemed so lovely and safe but it never was. It's just a mirage.

Then her expression changed and Nina held her hand in a bid to comfort her.

There was a day they went to the shore and decided to go into the city. They wore good human clothes of which they've been gathering for a while now.

They went into the city looking like normal girls and had lots of fun. But unfortunately, a riot started between some gangsters and they began to shoot violently. The two girls didn't understand what was happening and while people were running.

Nina decided that they run too but unfortunately, a bullet hit Kyl's left arm. She began to bleed and cry out in pain.

Bullets were still flying and people were running. Nina grabbed Kyl and ran towards the shore, found a desolate place and sat her down.

Tried some magic and the wound healed up instantly but the bullet was still there.

She felt really weak and couldn't use her arm for anything at all.

Nina took Kyl into the water and swam to the king's castle where the wound was reopened and the bullet was taken out.

Neptune was really angry and forbade them from leaving the city. He made them to relocate to the average villa where they would be under watch by the royal guards.

The two mermaids, were so unhappy. They threw their pearls away out of anger and all the things they got from the shore.

Ma'am Shell was a kinky old mermaid with uncompleted teeth. Grey haired and really short and stumpy tail. She was short tempered and a no nonsense lady.

Blue, Rainbow and Jace happened to be in her class.

Ma'am Shell : now do you understand? You mustn't be found anywhere near the prickling plant. It could eat up your whole tail. And also, the Gig. It's really dangerous and poisonous if swallowed but it can be used to drive away Stone fishes. Do you understand!

Class: yes ma'am Shell

Ma'am Shell : You! Red haired girl sitting next to the ugly looking creature. Up on your feet now and tell me why your hair is red.

The Red haired girl was really scared, she hastily stood up and stammered while answering her. Ma'am Shell really frightened them and they were all like tamed animals in her presence.

Rainbow : (in very low whispers) did she just call Jenette the ugly looking creature? That's mean

Blue: (whispers too) I know that's mean, really mean. Now look, Jenette is all red cheeked. I bet she's going to cry

Jace: (also whispering) she's asking Fiona, why her hair is red. While don't we ask her why her tooths are out

That statement made them laugh a little too loudly.

Ma'am Shell : you three! Up!

She barked at them

Blue : OH no! We're doomed

Ma'am Shell : why are you laughing in my class? Come to the front now!

The trio like chicks drenched by the rain gently and obediently came out.

Ma'am Shell : my students have always graduated as the best with good etiquette that this city needs. And they don't go about laughing oddly. I don't take that. For this, you'll have to be punished.

Rainbow : Oh ma'am Shell we're really sorry. Please do not punish us. We will be good students

Ma'am Shell : shut up! You must be punished.

Jace: what's the punishment? Spill it out

He said that with a tinge of authority that made Shell look at him as if she wanted to tell but seeing he wasn't smiling and didn't look scared she decided to tell them.

Ma'am Shell : you'll sweep, dust, and clean up my library for one week.

Class : eeelll. Gross

Ma'am Shell : shut up or you'll do it with them.

Everyone knew her library was situated in the slime region of the city which was occupied by snails and slugs. So it would be so much hard work to clean up the slimes from the place. It was really a disgusting job to do.

Ma'am Shell : you're dismissed!

All the students quickly swam out of the class because no one wanted to be called to help her with anything.

Ma'am Shell : now you three, you must be at my library before the dolphins come back. Do you understand?

Jace: sure

Now the three of them were left alone, Rainbow was really happy to be beside Jace for almost a day. She wanted to spend more time with him and secretly wished he would like her too.

Blue: so the dolphins will be back in the next 3hrs. Which means we still have about an hour before we go there. Cos she said we have to be there before they get back.

Rainbow : let's go racing

Blue: what? Racing? Do u want us to exhaust all our strength and energy before heading to her library. And it's pretty far from here

Rainbow : ohh. Okay then. Let's just stay here and rest then

Jace noticed the sadness and somewhat embarrassment in her voice and so he decided to take sides with her.

Jace: no I'm okay with what she suggested. Let's go racing to the library. And we could also grab a bite on our way

Rainbow : really! That's awe........some

Blue:so how about me? I'm like the slowest mermaid in Neptune's city

Rainbow : hahaha, u could just tag along..... Last one there is a rotten fish

Then they dashed out of the room leaving Blue behind.

Blue: ohh great! Now I'm the rotten fish. Yuck!

She swam as fast as she could and saw them afar off. They were laughing and trying to overtake each other. Blue knew she couldn't catch up with them so she decided to get them something to eat.

She got some sea fruits and vegetables then swam slowly towards the slime region when she suddenly remembered that they couldn't eat there. That place was disgusting and could make them puke.

Blue: what I'm I gonna do now? I guess I should stay here and wait for them. I'm sure they'll turn back and look for me

Rainbow :i won! I won! I won! I won!

She was swimming in a circle and causing something like a ripple in the water. That was her method of celebrating and whoever looked at her swirling around could get really dizzy.

Jace: okay okay you won! But you're getting me dizzy and nauseous

Then she stopped and looked at him

Jace:thats better. You almost made me fall to the bottom of the ocean

Rainbow : hahaha sorry

Jace: you're definitely the best at swimming. No one's defeated me before. Maybe I could take some lessons from you

She blushed and bowed her head without replying

Jace: come on. Let's go back to Blue and get something to eat, we still have about half an hour.

He stretched forth his hand towards Rainbow. She took it and they both swam away holding hands.......
