Will you marry me?" He asked, searching through her hazel eyes, waiting for an answer. A no, or worst still, like ladies do in the movies, a slap.
The thought of that made him almost laugh out loud. She wouldn't dare.
Proposing in a mall wasn't the perfect idea but he had to do it anyway. She fancied things like this.
She forced a smile, biting her lips to keep them from twitching. Suddenly the color in her face drained, the corners of her lips bent slightly and her smile faded.
She shook her head gently, and turned her face away from his, hiding behind her blonde hair.
Slowly, she took two steps backwards and turned around briskly, taking strides, quick enough to hide the tears peeking at the brim of her eyes.
Despite the cheers from the little crowd and onlookers that gathered, she didn't look back. She couldn't. Even though she wanted to badly tell Zach that she couldn't marry him, and he should shove his ring up his ass. She couldn't bring herself to do it, not with that crowd.
She reached out for the first cab she saw as soon as she got outside.
"Chestville avenue" She said, trying to keep her voice stable, and getting in the car with an impatient slam.
"Sorry..." The driver had tried saying something but was cut off.
"Just drive, drive please!" By now she had lost control of her voice and was almost yelling. "Drive please, I'd tip"
He nodded and turned the ignition.
In five, she arrived home and alighted, without forgetting to tip like she promised. Kicking off her shoes, she sat hopelessly and sighed. She reached for her phone, she went for the first number on the speed dial.
"Fish" The receiver echoed in the phone.
"Hi" She started, "I know you wanted something good for me, you've always wanted me fine." She paused, waiting for her best friend to reply. When none came, she proceeded. "He proposed, and I said no," she finished flatly.
For some seconds, a piercing silence arose and took a stance, priding itself.
"You know, Herit, I trust you. Although I'm terribly confused and slightly mad at you, whatever you feel is right is right." She sighed.
"He'll come for the house soon"
"Hey, Easy there. One step at a time. I'd get off work early today and I'll come over. We'd talk"
Heritage sighed. "I'd be dead if he gets here first"
"Just don't worry, he won't show up yet. He'll be nursing his ego already. Get some sleep, we're going out tonight.
"Sure, later" she replied calmly. And the call ended.
Thinking about it, she wasn't sure about what she wanted.
To actually get married now or not. She barely loved him and she knew it.
"I must have been an idiot to have played in this relationship" she muttered to herself.
"Wait. Did he actually think I'd marry him? I'm barely 22, he's, he's 41! Herit, herit..." She placed her hand on her head. "Now I feel so angry at myself to have even been a part of this. What's wrong with me?"
She shood up to go in and paused abruptly.
"I even cried!" She shrieked. "I cried, for a man I didn't love" she shuddered at the thought of Zach.
" What if?...No!" She stopped again "Nobody saw me cry, right?... Damn! I'm such an idiot! A pretty, cute idiot! Good thing I said no"
She continued her pace heading to her room
"Well, I did say no. At least I'm that smart. Imagine I had said yes, I'd be stuck with him forever!"
She felt goosebumps crawl on her skin.
" Zach, fuck you!" She screamed. Raising her middle finger in the air and waving it frantically.
"Fuck you again!"
Finding her way to the bathroom, she kept cursing Zach, and blaming herself for how much of an idiot she had been.
She looked at the mirror, staring like she had to crack a code with her eyes. Tears welled up at the rim of her eyes, she felt her cheeks getting hot and her blood pressure rising. She reached for the first aid box for an aspirin, she felt the headache coming.
Herit, you got this. You're fine. You're fine. Ray will be fine. You can't panic queen. Ray will certainly be fine.
She knew she had to stabilize herself first.
She had quickly wiped her tears and braced herself to her room and slumped on the bed shutting her eyes tightly to blur out the image of Zach pleading and threatening with his eyes.
His eyes never pleaded though, she thought to herself. His eyes were more threatening.
He had blue eyes, blue just like the sky, that looked still until when provoked. They certainly never pleaded.
"Herit!'' She heard her name. Definitely someone was at the door, and the only person who never knocked was Ava. And her voice only came through if the door was locked.
She jerked, grabbed her phone and checked the time. It's read 19:23
How long had I been like this? She ran to the mirror, mascara had a nice trail on her face, giving her a perfect character for Halloween and her nose was flaming red.
Damn, damn, Ava can't meet me this way. Shit!
"Herit, you're there?" The voice came again, louder.
"Yeah, yeah, one second" she screamed in return, running back to the bathroom to wash her face.
"One second, Ava," she yelled again.
By the time she made it to the sitting room to open the front door, she found Matilda locking the door from inside.
"How'd you do that?"
"Uh... do what?"
"You just got into my apartment, guy! With my door locked!"
"I'm a witch, durh"
"I'm serious, guy," She said, trying to pull a frown.
"You seriously don't remember I have a key to your apartment?"
"Since when, witch?"
Ava let out an evil laugh. " Since I started haunting you baby" she smirked and hugged Heritage lightly.
Heritage just shrugged "Well, you must be a sad witch then" She turned back to the sitting room, while Ava trailed behind, grabbing a seat next to her best friend.
"All the Witches I know have interesting things to do with their lives". Heritage murmured under her breath.
"Nice one. How're you?"
"There are no used tissues scattered around" she replied flatly.
" Yeah,I'm that surprised too" She folded her arms, "but you look like you've been crying a whole lot" she arched her brows.
Heritage rolled her eyes.
" How can you tell?"
" Uh, I'm the witch here" She replied, raising her head high.
Heritage's lips twitched a bit, She was blessed with the right friend.
Ava leaned further and seized Heritage in a hug.
"I'm sorry, Sweetheart," Ava said, her voice low and calm.
Her black straight hair flushed over heritage's face, making her keep her eyes shut. She could smell her perfume on, Iman, soft and strong at the same time. She could tell that scent anywhere. And everything around her was peaceful, so peaceful she could barely hear whatever Matilda had been saying. She needed this. For some seconds, she laid still and let Ava do the talking. Enjoying the bits of peace her voice emitted, not necessarily in what she was saying.
Suddenly, heritage had shot her head up abruptly without a warning, slightly hitting Ava's jaw.
"You know what, Ava, I feel sad that I rejected his proposal. But I did myself good." She nodded,
A slight wave of confusion flustered on Ava's face.
" Uh?"
Heritage sat up straight, and ran her palm on her hair like she was smoothening it from the wind. Then she faced Ava again.
" I couldn't even have married him! I mean, he's handsome and cool and rich and, and everything a lady might want, but he's not for me. He barely knows how I feel. He assumes a lot about me and is so self conscious! Besides that, he has anger issues! Arrgh! How did I not see all these faults, I mean, he's selfish on his own terms alone..."
She paused and threw a glance at her friend who had been watching more confused than ever.
"Do you think I'm going crazy?" She looked hopelessly waiting for a negative answer.
Ava shook her head.
"Good! I'm fine now!" Then she sighed "freedom"
"I thought you loved him?" Ava raised her brow, waiting for an explanation "You've been all over him in the past few days."
"Ha! I wish!" Her eyes were glinting with excitement now.
"Okay, Herit, few minutes ago, you were red from crying and now you're feeling glad over the same reason" She folded her arms again
" Well,..." She trailed off, looking for an imaginary dirt in her nails
" Well?"
" He paid my rent!" She blurted out "Yes, he paid my rent! And he just won't stop taking all my bills, although I never asked him to stop. I'm sorry. Ava,I'm certain I don't love him. I know. His help has gone a long way and I'm grateful but I can't imagine my life with him forever. I mean I can't imagine myself staring at his face every morning."
She looked up at Matilda again " I'm really sorry I made you think I did love him. I guess you'd have had to like him at some point but baby,I can't do this. I'm really sorry!"
She shut her eyes, waiting for Ava to yell or atleast scold her. She deserves an award for best in kicking asses.
Asses like hers.
"Hey, I understand," Ava said, giving her a polite smile.
"You do?" She opened her eyes "I mean you understand that I made him spend so much on me even when I didn't love him? And you're not going to yell at me?"
"I will, darl, just not yet." Her smirk was evident.
"Now you look really scary with that thing on your face, I know I've been stupid. Just yell at me already"
" Yes baby, most definitely stupid. But now isn't the time to talk about how stupid you've been. I said we'll go out. Yeah? So go and change." She gave a sweeter smile.
" Bold of me to have assumed you won't scold me."
" Bold of you indeed," Ava said, grinning." Ten minutes woman, go and get out of this mourning clothes"
"It's a gown," Heritage replied flatly. "And jacket" she finished raising her brows.
" Whatever!" She replied, rolling her eyes and dragging out her friend. " Ten minutes woman!"
"Fine! Where are we going?, at least I could pick a nice outfit"
"Ha!" She exclaimed " Dress to kill bitch, you just declared yourself single!" Her eyes narrowed with a smirk on her face.
Heritage smiled and walked in without replying, dragging her feet, there was nothing like ten minutes, she was certain. Her smile brightened again as Ava traced her steps behind her to the room. Her stylist.
She liked this part of Ava. No, she loved this part. More than her scolding part.
Bright red lipstick and a red gown, yummy...
By the time the ladies had alighted from Ava's red car, the time read 9pm.
"A bar. Really? All for looking this sexy."
Without replying, Ava walked up the counter, flashing a quick smile to the bartender while grabbing a stool, while Heritage did the same.
"Good evening ladies" He had returned her smile "What would you like?"
"Shots please"
"Give us something strong" Heritage's voice finding itself.
In seconds, they had rum sitting before them in shots.
"Cheers!" Heritage cried out with excitement bubbling.
"Cheers!"
Their glasses clinked and they downed it together with their eyes closed.
"Again, again"
The bartender refilled their glasses without blinking.
"Cheers again!" Ava proposed
"To me being free!"
They clinked again and downed it in unison.
" Refill up please"
" Easy woman, the night's still young" Heritage said, turning to Ava with a laugh on her face.
"Right, right" she turned to the bartender with puppy eyes "one more"
Heritage rolled her eyes and downed the shot just after it had been refilled.
By then, the alcohol was already taking little effects on her.
" I'm sorry Ava"
"Uh sweetheart,no no, don't cry"
"He did my bills" she covered her face, "And he was on Rey's case and my apartment is fully on him"
" Nahh, we could sort it out." She put her hands to heritage's face and cupped it " Herit, we would sort it out" she let out a relaxing smile and kissed her cheek
"One more here" she said turning to the bartender "My baby should be rejoicing not sulking, I'm telling you. She just got free! Haha"
They had their fourth glasses and in uniform they downed it together. By now they were visibly tipsy, although Heritage seemed to have a stronger resistance.
The music changed to Chandelier by Sia, which sent electricity through the girls.
" Our jam!" They screamed to themselves despite being drunk. Their eyes glistened like children that just got candy.
They grabbed themselves from their stools and started singing and swaying to the slow beat.
Ah, I'm gonna swing from the chandelier
From the chandelier...
Neither of them had good singing voices but they let the music flow through them like their lives depended on it, yelling at the chorus.
I'm gonna live like tomorrow doesn't exist
Ava had lost control of herself and accidentally bumped into a guy that had come to order a drink.
Apparently, he seemed to be in a good mood.
"You might want to watch where you're going, drunk" He said, without any expression on his face.
"Who're you calling drunk?" Her mind drifting from her mini paradise to reality.
"Just excuse me" He said, trying to walk past her.
Heritage wouldn't hear of it as she blocked his path, her hands akimbo.
"No, no mister, Till you apologize first"
The man couldn't have heard her correctly.
"Apologize for what?" He was trying to maintain an expressionless face "If anybody deserves an apology here, it's me"
He brushed through Heritage without waiting for her reply and made his way to the counter, finding an empty seat to make his orders.
The bartender flashed his smile again and greeted politely.
"Whiskey please" He ordered curtly.
The bartender nodded and took his order.
"These seats are occupied though, one of them left their purses here" He dropped the glass and nodded over to the girls.
Picking up his drink, he examined it.
"Ice please"
After taking a big sip, he turned to look over the women who had almost caused a scene with him earlier. "Who are they?"
"Who? Them?" He smiled "I don't know. Not regulars here though"j
The guy nodded in understanding.
Scanning the black purse, he could identify it belonged to the lady in a red gown, she had no purse on her unlike her friend . She had a small body that fitted so perfectly in her gown. It was like a red wrapper that hugged her body nicely, with strings interlaced at the back, short enough to reveal her legs. Her legs were long and they perfectly carried her small body which swayed to the tune occasionally as she sang loudly with her friend. She had pretty legs too. She had emerald green eyes, that looked like it desired something badly which hid behind her perfectly permed blonde hair, and her lipstick was so appealing. Red hot. She could pass for a stripper.
Too much for a saucy personality He thought.
Ava's phone rang a couple of times, and she picked it at the second ring and excused herself, coming back with a frown.
"Heriiitt, I have to go" She yelled, trying to suppress the music with her own voice
"No, no, it's a celebration party" Her friend countered "The night just started"
"Aw, c'mon" A frown crept into Ava's face "I just got an impromptu early shift"
"You shouldn't go" she pouted her lips " I need this"
"I'm sorry bomb, Momma really really really has to go. You can stay to finish up, yeah?" She muttered barely speaking real words.
"I'll come with you then"
"Nah, have fun, and stay fine"
"Not to worry,I'll be fine" Heritage flashed a smile and leaned to kiss her cheek " Take care of yourself, you're wasted" she said laughing.
"I think I'm in a better state than you, whatever" she returned the kiss and turned on her heels while adjusting her purse. " Bye love, Avoid men"
Just then, it clicked to Heritage that she hadn't been with her purse the entire night. She walked over to the counter praying silently to have not lost it. Of course, her ride home had gone.
By the time she had gotten to the counter, her purse was gone. And there was someone in her seat.
"Um hi," she turned to the bartender, " Did you perhaps see any black purse lying ldly where I sat. I mean, I could have possibly forgotten to pick it up before leaving"
He smiled and shook his head.
Now that pissed her a little. She's stuck now in a place that's new to her and she mustered enough strength to look stable so she could get her purse and all this guy could do was smile.
If only I could just threaten him. My knuckles aren't even lazy, a punch might not be bad.
She faked a smile and turned back to him
Great! Still being respectful even when I'm almost drunk.
"So um, you mean you didn't see my purse"
He shook his head again with another smile, a little less this Time.
"Looking for something?"
She turned to where she had sat, a man had spoken and by heaven, all she could see was a handsome man, charming by the heavens, His hair was neatly slicked and the hair on his temple was neatly brushed, down to his beards. He had blue eyes, like a stormy ocean.
He had a waistcoat over his shirt that hung on his body, which allowed his muscles to be traced from outside. He sure had a good body.
He sure did have a good body. God!
He snapped "Uh, looking for something?" He repeated again.
No, she wasn't drooling yet. She blushed.
She poised herself to respond but she stopped abruptly. She remembered him.
"You..."
"Nice to meet you again" he flashed a smile
"Hmph!" she turned her head back to the bartender. "Can I write my number down, Incase my purse is found"
He smiled again, nodding "one second"
Does he do anything other than smiling?
He returned with a pen and paper, and pushed it towards her.
She scribbled down something and passed it back to him.
"There, Thank you!"
And she headed for the door.
Once outside, she covered her face. The cold hit her and it dawned on her that her gown could pass for a laced fashioned towel. Not even a bathrobe.
"Shit shit! How worse can this day go? Damn!"
She slammed her hand in her head
What was I thinking, what was I even doing. God! Arrrghhh, I could have swallowed my pride a little bit. Just a little.
Now I'm stuck in a pub I've never been to with no bag and no phone!
Arrrgggh
"You need something?"
She turned around.
This same guy. Ugh. Herit play cool. Ofcourse, he wants your number. All men want your number, dammit
She realized her mind wasn't even helping. Her biggest issue now should be a ride home, not some handsome man standing before her.
"Um, hi" she said, her hand going to her neck.
If she needed help, she wasn't going to be rude atleast.
The man smiled, showing his dimples.
"Zach" He said, stretching out his hand. "I hope we're able to put our past behind us."
"Zach?" Her eyes grew wide. "Um, sorry, I'm Herit. I mean, Heritage" She took his hand. "My friends call me herit though"
He smiled again.
He has a killer smile,God! How was I even rude to this guy, How is his name even Zach?
Now she wasn't certain if the alcohol was taking effect on her or her mind was in the mood to flirt.
"Herit" That's nice, "You don't look like you're getting home soon. May I help? And the weather isn't that friendly"
Did he just beg me to help me?
Her mind wouldn't stop dancing around.
"Uh, sure. Yes please, I'd appreciate it" She could see her pride on the floor, where she tossed it without regard.
"Great, this way" he said, leading the way, " I parked just down there".
The ride to her home was smooth and really fast, maybe because they barely spoke.
Her mind was plainly occupied with her purse and phone. It mattered to her that much. And worst, she was sitting next to a guy named Zach.
Like she just left one Zach's life and now she's running into another.
Pulling right in front of her apartment, he turned to her.
"Thank you to letting me bring you home"
She simply smiled. She wasn't going to show how much those words made her blush. He was so polite.
Of course, she had dealt with more handsome guys in high school, so this could be nothing.
"Thank you for the ride, you saved me. I'd have frozen." She paused and traced his face with her eyes "And I'm sorry for being rude"
With that, she alighted to go into her apartment.
"Wait" He called behind her.
He reached for something in his car and walked up to her.
"Pretty ladies shouldn't leave their purses anyhow" He said, handing her a black purse and flashing one last smile.
Before she could say Jack, he already drove off.
Did he just call me pretty?
And my phone and purse, Good heavens! And he's Zach!
Ava's hangover was more crazy than she had expected. And for some reason, she couldn't call in sick.
Being a nurse could be the most stressful occupation ever. She had never liked her job anyway, she had always wanted to be an actress but her parents wouldn't have heard of it. No. Their daughter, Avalyn Celine Drew should be in the line of the family's perfect Career. And when she couldn't pass Medicine, Nursing was her second choice and surprisingly, she did good.
So here she was, getting herself ready for work as early as 4 because she has a shift by 6; and there was a new Neurologist joining her team today.
Worst, she had to look her best, atleast, make a nice working impression and add a smile that she hated to use.
One more look in the mirror, She was satisfied. She had used enough foundation to hide the bags beneath her eyes. And had dunked painkillers to make her headache mild.
All for Herit, she thought.
Now she remembered she hadn't contacted Herit since last night and hadn't checked if she went home fine.
But that could be later. She rushed to her car and started it.
She got to the hospital in 30 minutes, beating the traffic. Her shift was due and by 10, she was done.
She needed to sleep but not until she was dismissed.
Her phone beeped with a reminder: Boring meeting
She picked up her things and headed to the hallway, walking with a colleague down for the meeting.
"Morning Gents and Ladies," The only man without an uniform spoke, adjusting the glasses on the bridge of his nose.
She glanced around the room, they all had Thier uniforms on, only a few of them had sethoscopes on Thier neck.
Hmph! Proud Doctors.
"Not to waste any of our time this morning" He continued, "I've seen the schedule that was drafted recently and it hasn't worked out so fine."
He made to pace around the room, observing their clothings.
"We'll be having a few doctors joining us, from each department, some of the superiors might be leaving too, then we reshuffle."
He then sat across the room and held out a file of papers towards them.
He then divided the papers in three folds and passed it to them. Each of them took a paper and passed round.
"That's the new shuffling we'll be using for now. One superior, two neurologists, two cardiologist and four nurses in each team. You'll work together except for emergencies"
He looked around the room for questions or objections. None seemed to be coming so he dismissed the meeting.
Outside, Ava looked at the paper she had gotten, searching for her name through the list was not that hard, it was arranged alphabetically.
She found it, along with a few others in her team. All of her teammates would still be working with her. She sighed with relief.
Then she checked for the new Neurologist, if he made it tonther team alright.
She looked at the name. Zach Windfred.
Whatever, she tucked the paper away
She quickly gathered her things and went to where she had parked. Ushering herself in the car, she thought about calling Heritage.
But then, she changed her mind to just drive over to her apartment instead.
A normal Ava might just call through the house and wait for whoever was in to open up, but today, she was just tired for that.
She reached for Heritage's spare key and opened the door herself.
Finding her way to Heritage's room after throwing her keys on a settee, she took off her shoes at the front door.
To her luck, the bed was empty. Perhaps she had gone to the store or something or maybe in the bathroom. She didn't care.
She needed sleep.
Heritage came out of the bathroom, a few minutes, with the scent of papaya trailing her movement.
"You again" She turned to Ava
"Good morning," She said sarcastically, trying to pin down the fact that she didn't say good morning.
"Good Morning to you too" She replied, sitting at the edge of the bed, reaching for her hair dryer. "How was your shift?"
"Ugh, boring as usual" She turned over to the other side if the bed. "We got a new Neurologist on our team. Uh his name is Za... Windfred"
"Oouuu soft, what's he like?"
"I don't know, didn't get to meet him". "We all didn't meet him. He might look like poop but who cares?"
"First impression, bitch" She grabbed a shirt from her closet.
"I said I didn't get to meet him!" She turned back to her. "Why do you even sound like I could have something with him? Listen, I'm not in need of a man. They're all heartbreakers"
Heritage chuckled.
"Right, right, I see" She narrowed her eyes back to her friend "The last time I checked, you're the heartbreaker. You've had two guys crying for you"
Ava narrowed her eyes. "Just because I've had a thing or two with some mummy boys doesn't mean I'm a heartbreaker! Herit, look at me, I mend your heart, I'm your heart mender"
Heritage scrunched up her nose. "What? You?" She added another laugh "just fix your single life"
"So whose side are you on?"
"Nah" she raised her hands in defeat "Nah, I'm definitely on your side"
"Good" She turned back to go to bed.
"Sure, sure, I'm on your side"
She slid on a shirt and a pantie and hung out her bathrobe out. Grabbing the other end of the blanket, she slipped under it almost giving Ava a spoon cuddle.
"Ew, Go wear something, you perv"
Heritage only snuggled tighter.
"I've been thinking Ava, I should get a new place"
Ava turned to face her.
Their faces were about just an inch apart.
"Why? Didn't you just pay for here?"
"I did, well he did, technically but I feel so cautious","He might be back"
She looked away.
"Well, that's true." She stroked her hair "But till then, he might not show up yet" "And besides you'll need to get a new job."
Heritage sat up.
"Yeah, I thought of that too, And I thought of resuming the nursery.
"The nursery!?"
"Not really the nursery, I could just go back to being a nanny."
"A nanny, really?" Ava grabbed her face. "Are you sure of this?"
She nodded. "I am. I'm not losing anything. That's the best I can do. I have things bottled up on me now and everything concerning Rey is now my responsibility. So I should be a responsible adult to myself now and a dependable sister to Rey."
She saw a smile twitching behind Tilda's lips. What was wrong with her?
Squeezing her in a tight hug, Heritage yelped.
"I'm so, so proud of you" she wiped an imaginary tear "I mean who would have believed that you, you of all people will say words like this."
"I'd support you love, anything for you!"
Heritage would never have understood how her words made her best friend so awaken. First, she's so dramatic for real life situations, she shouldn't be involved in things like this definitely. Then, she'd be the first to kick her own ass and caution her first the moment she fucked up, but she had been over kind lately. Always with the mother vibes.
"So, shall I send my sister over, ma'am?"
"I'm sure Liv would love to help, but no. I got this myself. And cut the formality, idiot"
All of the fatigue in Ava had seemed to disappear. She reached for the drawer and grabbed a pen with a pencil.
"Let's make a list of what you'll need. Shall we?"
"Things I'll need?"
"Yeah, like toys and children stuff"
Heritage groaned. Working to her looked simple till when action had to be done.
She hated this. All of this.
Suddenly, her phone came alive. A call was coming through. It was an unknown number.
She picked up, and placed the phone on her ear, turning to Ava, trying to hush her by putting a finger to her lips.
She waited for the receiver to speak first. Then she heard his voice, booming with masculinity.
"Um Hello, Heritage" A baritone came through "it's me, Zach"
She froze.
"Hello?"
In seconds, she remembered she had met a new Zach the night before.
Finding her voice, she replied "Hi Zach, Good morning"
From the corner of her eyes, she saw Matilda adjust for a better view even though the person in question was over the phone.
"Remember me?" His voice boomed again
Now she scoffed. He must have gotten her number from the bartender after she scribbled it down.
"Yes I do," she said lightly, trying to add enthusiasm "Thank you for the other night"
"It's fine, wanted to be sure you're good"
"Yeah. Thank you. I am"
"So, do you mind? We could talk?"
She hesitated. "Sure,"
"All good. Dinner? Tomorrow?"
"Why? We can talk over the phone."
"Can I just treat you to dinner?"
She rolled her eyes even though the man in question couldn't see her.
"Alright, dinner is fine."
"6pm? I'd pick you up."
'Great! He knows where I live....' she mumbled to herself.
"Alright. Give me a call" she replied.
And the receiver went dead.
"He's from last night."
Without waiting for Ava to ask, she offered."And his name is Zach"
Heritage said no word. Either she didn't have a perfect reply to the fact that he is a zach or she felt guilty for hiding the Zach she met earlier that day.
"I don't know what he wants, but he doesn't seem harmful" She had to look away.
"The new Neurologist at work today, whom I told you about, his name is Zach too. Zach Windfred" She replied, expressionless.
The room went silent. It looked like there was a Zach everywhere. And for all they knew, Zachs were no good.
Each to her own thoughts, they wrapped beneath the blankets and went back to bed.
