Chapter 1 Mea

There's so much that happens under your nose that you don't know about. Age old secrets that not even your advanced technology and what not can uncover and forces so powerful that even nuclear weapons cannot destroy.

All the myths you've read in books as a child are real. All of them are. Meaning that your next door neighbor is probably a blood sucking vampire. Think about it, why is he so pale? It's alright, he may decide to stop by for a quick drink but you won't even notice, all you need is iron supplements. He doesn't take from kids- too tender flesh doesn't make for a good blood supply. He prefers it to be richer. He won't kill you though, he's afraid I'll come after him.

Who am I? I'm glad you asked. I am known by many names in different tongues, so many that not even I can keep count of all. I remember the name my mother called me though but only faintly, she whispered it in my ear before she died.

Currently though, my name is Sage, Sage Moonblood. After all, real or not, I needed a kind of truth in my name.

Away from the world of the humans, there's a separate world out there. Pulsing underneath their sloppy movements. I was an investment banker in the human world by day, stinking rich and fairly famous. I am known as Sage Moonblood in this century though. In Leonardo Da' Vinci's time, I was Monalisa. That guy sucks at painting, honestly though, I think the guy was half blind. I was sitting on a ledge and my head definitely does not look like that.

So, the thing is that I am a free lancer, in the supernatural world filled with every kind of creature you can imagine, there is a hierarchy and there are those at the bottom of the food chain and those at the top. I do the dirty work of various powerful people in exchange for protection for the weak. I wasn't strong enough to keep an eye out for every one of them all over the world so I anonymously solicit protection, pay for it with my services, set up a small community for the weak creatures and renew the alliances every time they expired. Nothing was permanent with supernatural creatures. They are all conniving bitches. Speaking of which, I've had so many jobs lately that I haven't been hearing from my two allies. They help run the little packs. Betas of sorts except that I was no Alpha and these creatures did not know who was keeping them protected. Kia and Anouk also helped in training them. They made the operations possible and even though they didn't approve of all my decisions were very loyal to me.

Most of the creatures in the packs hated me without even knowing who or what I was. The bloody angel, they knew me as the bloody angel. A being in an armour of many colours, ruthless and cruel. I couldn't really blame them, even though my actions seemed without reason, their ignorance was bliss and the rumors they spread were incredibly funny. They also bode well for my reputation. Bloody angel- I love the name so much that I even painted a picture of it with the blood of my enemies. I hung the painting in my study. Art can be really soul searing sometimes.

The Market place was usually at its most active state at night time. Although it was never night in our world. All that descended was a dull purplish light that made it difficult to see well. I loved it. Unlike most people, it only heightened my senses. There were all kinds of things on sale, things ranging from common everyday rugs to possessed flying carpets. We didn't trade in money at this market, it was more of exchange, trade by barter, pledges and that sort of stuff. The material markets or the malls were a bit far off. This side of our world was for dealing in mainly magical stuff and weapons.

The supernatural world existed not by space or time, it just did and so the world had no boundaries, people just marked territories and the world expanded by the minute, that was why our means of transportation was teleportation or flying. Walking felt strange but I had to, I couldn't blow my cover by flying and yes, I fly.

The wolves side of the world was more defined, much closer to the human world so close that it was almost like they were on earth but they weren't, it was quite complicated. They were where we called- right by the edge of the border. They tended to keep to themselves and only few outgoing alphas were prone to socializing. They fae resided in the middle of the forest, the demonae and the nearly extinct flame weiders and other dark creatures- my kind resided closest to the fire at the core of the earth. Most people would say it was hell and it was incredibly hot but it isn't really, the heat felt more like a warm blanket to me. Sure it's where the soul of all the bad people get kept and tortured when they died but a few screams didn't hurt and in winter, it was kind of nice to live near an eternal inferno.

Alphas were possessive idiots and could get touchy over their lands. They were all just a bunch of big babies but stopping to kill any alphas would mean wasting precious time but I was careful, tip toeing around borders and boundaries. I could break any of their barriers in thirty seconds, they were all so weak except for one though, at the very edge of the wolf area, a barrier so ancient, it almost felt more powerful, it made me a little unsettled wondering what kind of creature would have power enough to put up that kind of barrier. From the barrier, I heard the call of home, the center of the earth could call to my kind. It was like a song, a siren's call, I was strong and well trained so that even though I felt a bit woozy, I was able to withstand the call.

I tried moving away from the barrier but then I slipped, still woozy from the siren's call. I accidently touched it. I froze in place, I was trapped, I wiggled feeling the bonds tighten as I struggled against them.

No! No!! No!!!Shit!

I didn't like being caught. I hardly ever got caught. All Alpha Nero had asked for was for me to pretend to be a helpless she-wolf and walk about his perimeter in other for the asshole that had been abducting, abusing and killing young female wolves to come by. I could kill him, Lord knows I wanted to kill the sick bastard for ending the lives of those poor girls. The girls of Silver blade pack did not deserve to live everyday of their lives in fear. The thought alone filled me with rage but Alpha Nero requested I bring him alive. Probably for a public execution to soothe the affected families and to put his pack's mind at rest or for private torturing pleasures, what? I could only assume the worst of everyone and there's nothing wrong with being a sociopath. I am one and except for times like this, it actually agrees very well with me.

I had only been around for roughly twenty minutes, it did not make sense. We were on the first plane, why did I feel the call of home all the way from up here and what or who the hell was trapping me here. I have never felt this kind of magic before and I was basically an expert on all sorts of magic, assassinating assholes all over the world does that plus, I can wield magic I was a little unsettled though because I did not know what was keeping me immobile but the magic felt ancient. Too ancient. I was a bit afraid.

At that insant, a delicious scent wafted into my nostrils. It was mouthwatering and Ignis wanted out. This was getting so weird I was almost scared. I had absolute control over my other form, Ignis never wanted out but at that moment it was almost impossible to keep her in. I know she was strong but this was extremely tasking.

Ignis only spoke latin and I often had to use a translator when talking to her. She only spoke in English when it was important, I was getting better at understanding her but it was difficult nonetheless. Considering the fact that I was of greek origin, I didn't understand why she didn't speak in Greek but I was usually to busy to dwell on such matters. In my defense, I take latin classes anytime I'm free. She just kept chanting mea I knew that mea meant mine, she wasn't territorial but she sounded guruttal and insanely possessive, I was scared and was struggling very hard against the restraints. I was also very curious about the delicious scent that was sending all my sense into overdrive. Literally, the scent was the only thing I could focus on, it shut down everything else and I had a feeling Ignis had something to do with that. Sometimes, the amount of power she had over me scared me.

A scrawny boy stepped out of the shadows, he looked to be no older than sixteen but that delicious scent was coming from him and the smirk on his face showed that he was somehow connected with what was going on but the impressive magic I was feeling was too ancient to be coming from him, I wasn't underestimating him though, I've been killing since I was born and most of my enemies often make the mistake of thinking me weak because of my tiny stature and my annoying baby like face. My cheeks didn't help in making me look menancing. It was advantageous in some situations though and I often corrected the creatures that thought me weak soon after that. It wasn't really difficult to figure out when I'm standing over you snapping your neck, I mean you'd be dumb to not realize that I'm stronger than you after that. Sadly though, they don't learn from their mistakes, I make it so that they can't.

Right now though, I was pissed, I really don't have a high tolerance for children.

'Look pup, release me right now and I will consider letting you go alive' I growl. Ignis was far away from me. It even felt like she was comfortable in the weird bonds he put us in.

'Mea' he says and coming from him, it sounded weirdly intimate as though I should wonder why he was saying mine. I looked around searching for who or what he was referring to, I may have accidentally touched something of his but the coast is clear.

'You seem unwell, let me out and I'll help you with that' I say in a sickeningly sweet voice.

Ignis pushes herself to the front and speaks through my mouth, the few times she's done that, it was usually to threaten someone in a cruel voice, she usually spoke in heavily accented English as though she understood that they couldn't understand her. I had attributed her to the harsh fear inspiring voice she usually used while speaking.

It seems like I was wrong in that moment, I was confused, scared and fighting for control over my mind. I hate feeling out of control. I felt like I was helpless, I hated it. I was wrong about Ignis too though. Her voice is soft, sensual and actually feminine as she says mea, I was low-key scared and my inner jaw drops open in shock since she was using my actual one, she hadn't ever spoken to me like that, even the first time I heard her voice, after the most horrible nights of my life. It was one of the few times she ever spoke English or even spoke at all. She'd explained things to me and told me her name, Ignis. Latin for fire.

The male touches my cheek and it feels like he lights the spot he touches on fire. Not a burning fire meant to hurt but rather a light passionate fire and my eyes burst into flames for a minute. It's scary that I actually want him to touch me like that.

'What the hell did you do to me just now?! I swear, I'll cut your balls and feed them to you if you don't release me this instant, you bastard!'

He doesn't answer me, he just keeps walking around my frozen figure.

'You touched the barrier mea, you should have died, I don't know why you aren't but well, I'm glad you aren't. I'm already fond of you and it hasn't even been five minutes yet' He says grinning and I feel like punching the obnoxious grin of his face. I already concluded that he would die in that instant. He was that annoying and I was convinced that I hated him.

There was a rustling in the bushes and our heads snapped to the location, his a fraction of a second quicker than mine. I was impressed and annoyed. Nobody should be faster than I am.

A muscled middle aged brown haired male stepped out of the bushes

'Hey angels, you alone?' He says smiling lewdly.

Chapter 2 A perfect Match

My target had arrived, I recognized him immediately, I wasn't sure if it was the crazed smile or his size that gave him away. It was neither. The prints he left behind and the characteristic stench he left behind after his last abduction did. Even now, I could smell his breath from a mile away. He clearly wasn't loved if not, someone would have gotten him a toothbrush for his last birthday. His breath smelt like whiskey and something rotten.

The male that had somehow managed to trap me with ancient magic turned to study the intruder, his head cocked to the side. Momentarily ignoring me. He was distracted enough for me to find a hole in his shield and I slipped out. I would take out the annoying brat and the rapist and I most likely wouldn't even need to shift. I caved Ignis before drawing two curved swords and setting them on fire. My flames were usually orange streaked with blue. The blades were beautiful. The only metal my fire wouldn't melt. I made all my weapons myself and enchanted them so that they became immune to celestial fire.

My prey's eyes snapped to mine.

'little kitty, where'd ya get that from. That's the reason you smelt odd. Ya had glamour on. Take it off would ya, lemme see your pretty face? I got a whole lot of things planned out'

I was surprised and a bit impressed. He had known I had glamour on. The male that had trapped me in spoke next, his voice coming out deeper and velvety, it was deep and rich, it made my insides turn to mush.

'You're smart but not smart enough' He said grinning.

In an instant, mist swirled around him and dissolved, in the place of the scrawny looking sixteen year old stood a very manly man, thrice my size. He looked about seven feet tall and was wearing nothing but a pair of jeans. Tribal tattoos covered his back, thick arms and right breast, the man was made of muscle. The muscles on his back rippled and he wasn't even flexing them.

He had thick black shoulder length hair and I suddenly had the strongest urge to touch it to see if it was as soft as it looked. He was barefoot from what I could see at the angle I was. He turned to look at me and my breath caught in my throat. He was gorgeous with deep dark blue eyes, an angular jaw, well defined face, pointed nose and full sensuos lips. He had a piercing in his left ear and I seriously wanted to kiss him in that moment, lick his piercing and run my hand down his washboard abs and...

I blanched. I had never done any of those things before and I wondered why I was imagining things like that happening to me at that moment. He smiled at me.

'mea please stop looking at me like that. Wait till we are home'

Searing hot rage hit me, I would kill them both, the bastard had the nerve! I was usually able to keep my cool even when my opponents said worse things. I myself often used that trick to incite rage in my opponents, anger means hasty movements and irrational thinking simply interpreted as getting them angry means they fuck up more often and I can kill them faster.

I calmed myself down telling myself he was doing the same. I ignored him and turned to face my opponent but my senses were still tuned towards him. He was clearly dangerous, I could see through any kind of glamour but I didn't see through his and he wielded ancient magic too but I'm this game, if possible we take it one problem after another. If he tries to kill me while I try to kill my prey, I would kill him too.

'Darling, before you die, there's one thing you need to know, do you know what's called dental hygiene? I guess not since your breath stinks. I'll give you the rundown' I said

I conjured a toothbrush and handed it to him.

'Brush your teeth bro, you smell like a raccoon. I don't think Satan likes safety hazards in hell.' I added.

He snorted. The blue-eyed man laughed.

'You should take off your pretty little mask, dress up time is over' He sneered. I was getting a rise out of him.

'Well, since you asked so nicely babe, I will' I replied letting the glamour drop.

I stood there in my full armour. It was black today. I really hated the guy. I dropped the mask covering my nose and mouth and grinned.

'Bloody angel' He sneered but I smell his fear.

'At your service' I reply bowing slightly with my blades.

The brute was a werewolf, he lunged at me shifting mid-air, he was obviously skilled, wolves that could do that were well trained strong wolves that have gone through intense training.

I ready my blades, fore seeing all his moves and deciding the best way to trap him. The blue-eyed male with the intoxicating scent moved with blinding speed, so fast that I did not catch the movement before hand, before I could speak a word he was before me. A hand around the throat of the wolf the size of a car. He held the wolf who was struggling in mid air with one hand. He had a primal intense look on his face as he took squezzed snapping the wolf's neck.

I had never been more turned on in my life.

The male threw the wolf's lifeless body a few feet away in one movement and looked at it condescendingly.

'Bastard' He snarled

I was silent for moment before I realized that he just ruined the job for me. Rage filled me, I owed the Alpha for a few wolves under my protection living near his territory. He just ruined that. Alpha Nero would be very angry but not nearly as angry as I was in that instant.

'Brainless idiot. You just ruined a job for me' I snarled 'You were not to kill him'

'Feisty, I like it.' He said grinning. 'Bloody angel, cute name for my pretty little assasin'

I saw red as I lunged at him. He didn't move. He was grinning in a spot the whole time. I struck with my blade, confident that I'd gotten a hit. He disappeared a fraction of a second before I hit him. I stumbled. I was even angrier. I never stumbled.

I ran towards him again and slashed, pushing myself to go faster. He was grinning hands behind his back and then suddenly, he was behind me pushing back my hair and kissing my neck. I froze, a jolt of electricity running down my spine. My brain was scrambled.

His magic was strong, he paralyzed me for a minute. That's what it was right? Magic. My kind does not have mates. I wasn't exactly sure because no one knows about my kind much less the fact that there's one last survivor. I couldn't have a mate. Emotion ties are detrimental to the job. It would be best to kill this strange man and be done with it.

I rarely shifted to my full capacity. I only half shifted when I needed one or more power only accessible to my other side. When I shift in battle, it means that my opponent is very strong.

I didn't even know what he was. He hadn't given away any signs for me to know what kind of creature he is, from his dress code, I had first thought he was a wolf but his tattoos didn't have a crescent and neither did wolves teleport. Nothing about him and even his tatoos were familiar and I knew from experience that creatures didn't just ink their skin. They were either given ink or used it to indicate certain things such as origin. I had a few although in all my years, no one has ever recognized it.

He hadn't attacked, he was just dodging my hits and teasing me with kisses and touches. He drove me insane and he looked like he was having fun with it. My earlier decision to end his life wavered. I was thinking of jumping him instead and then I saw his smirk, kill it is.

I sheathed my blades and jumped. Shifting in the air. Like I said earlier, I was a fire wielder. Basically, that means when I shift, my skin peels away and I am a living mass of celestial fire. My hair stands straight flaming. My iris are as though they contain fire basically, like a normal girl except all you can see is fire, curves and two giant wings. I am usually naked but ever since I had my fire proof armour made, not anymore. It's not like you could see any lady bits through the thick mass of celestial fire that I become.

I leap into the air, my armour dissolves into something more practical but it still glows silver and the silver of my blades become prominent. My wings are wide, each one the size of an average full grown man lying side ways.

Of the few prey that have seen a half of me, usually my wings and the even fewer number who have seen my full form, I would say, most of them would blanch at my transformation. The blue-eyed male laughs in amazement, a bit of pride but shakes his head and sighs as though he would have to do something unpleasant.

The tattoos on my upper right thigh glowing silver and my past waist length fire hair seem to catch his attention, he nods in approval and I growl still hovering in the air.

'Fire wielder' he mutters high enough for my enhanced hearing to pick.

I freeze, very few people know what I am. I get over my surprise soon enough and I lunge at him but he catches me mid air before I get to him. He grabs my waist, a hand in my fire hair and he's kissing my neck. I'm confused, I'm still on fire. All creatures I don't want touching me usually burn to death when they touch me in this form. He lets go and drops to the ground.

I grin expecting him to die but as he lands, he becomes a creature even taller than he was before. He grins up at me with razor sharp teeth and empty eyes sockets with blue fire swirling in their depths. He's wearing an armour of sorts and his tattoos seem to glow blue over his red skin. Out of his back extend wings of fire looking similar to mine. He has several weapons on him and has grown even bigger in muscle and height. I look like a rat compared to him and I'm momentarily jealous. I hate being small. I would have loved to increase in height when I shifted.

I gasped. He was a direct descendant of mother nature. A fire elemental. All creatures have categories but the major ones are air, water, fire and earth. Before the creation of other creatures, mother nature gave her blood directly to fire elementals, the supreme of all creatures made from fire. She then made us fire creatures a few thousand years later. The world thought all the elementals were extinct, just like my kind but apparently, they were wrong. He was living evidence. Ignis pushed me to my knees in submission, I was in the form where she was dominant after all. He grinned.

'Rise mea' He said. I broke whatever jinx Ignis put on me and launched myself at him. I actually succeeded this time and I embedded the blade in his abdomen. I smiled victorious, he would not survived that, he was most likely going to die. Problem of confusion- solved.

The elementals vanished from the earth three millennia ago. Few creatures are immortal, the elementals are though and it was rumored that they could bestow the gift of immortality on others out they spent their time on earth in seclusion, the few books about them were priceless and did not confirm but neither did they deny the rumors.

Immortal creatures could still be killed but with certain weapons. I was hoping that my blade would make the cut, it didn't.

He removed the blade and turned to look at me with irises of fire

'Run'

Chapter 3 Busted

At that moment, the kind of fear that gripped my heart was unlike any other I've ever experienced in all my life. Scratch that, I've only been afraid a few times in my life but I was downright terrified at this instant He was immune to everything, my weapons, my fire and my charms but I also hadn't tried spells on him. I had hope. He was also super fast, I was trying my hardest and I couldn't even land a single hit on him, I really love living and I have not yet achieved my aim of buying all the shoes in the world. I hadn't completed my bucket list. I have to make one and complete it.

I'm basically too hot, too young and too amazing to die right now. No creature was immune to my fire or my blade but that creature out there was something more than just an elemental. Whatever he was, I don't care and if he wanted me, he would probably have to kill us both in the process.

My heart felt heavy and so did my steps. He couldn't catch me. I refuse to be a prisoner again and I sure as hell didn't want to die.

I did the one thing that I have never done before in my life - I ran away from my prey. I heard his footsteps behind me. He was...walking? He couldn't possibly be walking could he?

I decided to ditch running, I was faster in the air after all. I said a protection spell and a speed boosting spell all in one instant and took off into the sky in a trail of fire. I couldn't believe it, I felt ashamed, it was unheard of. Ayanne couldn't run from prey, she was born to hunt. My ego would need helluva lot of nursing after this. I would come back to get him, that's for sure but I had to get away first and come up with a plan later.

It seemed as though the elemental had been concealing his scent because in a few moments, I felt a giant gust of wind. The elemental was flapping his wings that were scarily, way longer than mine.

A mouth watering scent hit me and I had a very strong urge to turn in the opposite direction towards the scent. I didn't wait to find out where the scent would lead even though some dreaded part of me knew that the scent was coming from the elemental.

I couldn't have a mate! I shouldn't! He won't do me any good and perhaps, my kind didn't have mates. I had done to many bad things, why would mother nature even gift me one? Curse me one rather. I didn't ask for a frickin' mate. I don't want one. What connects me and the strange, weirdly strong elemental is probably some misunderstanding. I tried to stab him though, I don't think he wold be very diplomatic and agree to sit down for some tea or be so kind as to allow me to clear the air. Or maybe he was some kind of assassin using a very strong attraction spell, maybe he was trying to kill me. It was very likely though, people usually try to kill me within the first five minutes of our meetings but I didn't understand, I could see throughout any type of magic, tell spells apart and what not. I should be able to tell if he was using an attraction spell. What the hell was going on here?!

Ignis stirred and she seemed...mad? I was really happy, if she was mad at the elemental, it meant more speed for me. So you see, I was the most stunned person when my body slowed down and my wings failed, I tried to push but the force pushed back. Ignis had very strong dominance when I was in this form and I just couldn't rein her in. I fell a few feet and I saw the elemental above me, diving straight for me.

'Go to mea!' She growled in a barely human voice. Well, she isn't human but you get what I mean.

I refuse die like this.

'I stabbed him Ignis, he won't be willing to compromise. I won't die like this, I'm sorry Ignis' I said already regretting my decision.

I did the one thing that I hoped to never have cause to do, I used a silencing spell on Ignis

'un taceam nomine presbyterorum' I whispered.

'Et erit tibic hoc' She said quietly, so quiet that I almost missed it. Yes Ignis, I know you will get me for this.

I heard and winced through her final screams of pain and anger, felt the walls of stygian ice come up and all was silent, Ignis was gone. I shot up into the sky again but the elemental had caught up and it didn't even look like he was trying.

I looked back and I saw the fury and pride? In his eyes. I saw pride? that's not right. Suddenly,he was before me. Holding my wings in one hand as though to clip them and my waist, in the other. His touch was heavenly. I've never felt anything like that. I unconsciously purred. I covered my mouth, I actually purred.

He laughed and the sound was so deep, so velvety, so nice that I forgot he was prey.

'Belle, I know it feels good too. I feel it' He whispered pressing down softly on my waist and stroking a left wing. I nearly combusted. I was trying to hold on to the fact that he was an elemental and also my freaking prey even though he was a really sexy, really really fine specimen. I wasn't a butt person before but that ass made my subconscious pull her glasses down and whip out the lingerie. Yes, I'm a very observant fighter. I have to study the...erm... structure of my prey. My inner goddess was a very horny bitch. It hurt sometimes. I don't need all her horny opinions ringing in my head nearly all the time. Ignis plays the part well even though all the suggestions come in latin.

The wings of any flying creature are the strongest and yet most sensitive thing about them. He was stroking my right wing and with all the explosions in my head, I couldn't even move for fear of combustion. I tried, I really did but he just felt so good.

Another problem...The spell was only meant to last a few minutes, Ignis broke down the walls and she came at me with such rage I didn't know existed.

'Ego autem dico vobis : quia erit tibi hoc'. I laughed hearing her quiet voice, I had a higher chance of her forgiveness. She was telling me that She did say she would get me for what I did.

All I remember before passing through out is an extreme pain in the back of my head. I also remember laughing at myself, I literally handed myself over to my attacker.
