Chapter 1 Blood And Moon Light

The night the moon bled, everything Aria Moonwell loved burned.

Flames licked the treetops of the Silverpine Forest, once the pride of her pack, now a blazing ruin that smelled of smoke and death. The air was thick with the iron tang of blood and the echo of dying howls. Every spark that drifted skyward felt like a piece of her heart being torn away.

"Aria!" her brother Kael's voice cut through the chaos. "Stay behind me!"

She ignored him. Her claws extended, and her fangs itched to tear into flesh. The vampires were everywhere dark shapes darting between the trees, their crimson eyes glowing like scattered embers.

Aria lunged at one, driving her silver dagger through his chest. He hissed and dissolved into ash. Another came from behind, but she spun, slicing his throat in one fluid motion. For a moment, she felt the savage rhythm of battlethe thrum of power in her veins, the fire of vengeance blazing in her heart. But the rhythm broke when she saw the elders fall. The strongest of her kind, brought down like prey. It wasn't a warit was a slaughter.Kael grabbed her arm. "We have to retreat!"Her eyes flared. "Retreat? They killed Mother! They killed-"

"I know!" His voice cracked. "But if you die too, who will lead what's left of us?"Her throat tightened. Around them, wolves shifted and fled through the trees, dragging the wounded, howling their grief. The vampires didn't chase; they didn't need to. They had already won.Aria turned back toward the battlefield one last time and that's when she saw him.A figure standing untouched by flame or ash, his black cloak flowing like shadow itself. His presence froze the world around her. The vampires bowed as he passed, parting the sea of chaos. His eyes deep crimson, sharp as blades locked on hers through the smoke. The world narrowed to that gaze.

She felt it not fear, not hate, but something deeper. Dangerous. He tilted his head slightly, as though curious that she was still alive. Then, without a word, he vanished into the burning mist, leaving her trembling between rage and something she couldn't name.Kael yanked her toward the woods. "Now!"

They ran through the ashes, their feet pounding against the cracked earth. Behind them, the Moonwell lands burned to nothing but memory. As they reached the forest's edge, Aria looked back one final time.

The moon hung above the smoke no longer silver, but a deep, bleeding red.She whispered a vow to the dying night:

> "By the next blood moon, I will find him.

And I will make him pay."

But fate, cruel and relentless, was already laughing.

Because the boy she swore to kill the vampire prince with the crimson eyes

was the same one destined to love her.

Chapter 2 The Prince Of Shadows

The flames of Silverpine still danced behind Luca Blackthorn's eyes long after the battle had ended. He stood at the edge of the burnt forest, the night wind tugging at his black cloak, the metallic scent of blood lingering in the air. Around him, his soldiers celebrated victory fangs gleaming, laughter sharp as broken glass. But Luca felt nothing.Victory? No. It was slaughter.

And it sickened him.

"You've done well, my prince," said Commander Vale, bowing low. "The werewolves will think twice before crossing us again."

Luca didn't answer. His gaze drifted toward the horizon, where smoke still curled like dying ghosts. He could still see her that girl with silver eyes and a blade that shimmered like moonlight. She had fought like a storm, fierce and unyielding.

A werewolf princess. Brave. Beautiful. Deadly.

"Prince Luca," Vale continued, his voice hesitant now, "the King expects your report before dawn."Luca turned away. "Tell my father the war is over."

"But-" "I said it's over." His voice dropped, cold as frost. "No more blood tonight."The commander bowed again and retreated, leaving the prince alone beneath the red moon.Luca sank to his knees, pressing a hand to the black earth. He could feel it the pulse of something old beneath the ground, restless, awakening. The war wasn't ending. It was beginning.A rustle behind him. "You're disobeying your father again," said a soft, mocking voice.Luca didn't turn. "You shouldn't sneak up on vampires, Cassia."Cassia his cousin and closest ally stepped out of the shadows, her long coat brushing the dirt. "You looked lost. Brooding suits you, cousin. Almost like you care.He gave her a faint smirk. "Maybe I do."

She raised a brow. "About the werewolves? Or about the silver-eyed girl who nearly slit your throat?"

He froze. "You saw her too?"Cassia nodded. "Hard not to. She fought like she wanted to die or to make sure everyone else did first." Her voice softened. "You spared her, didn't you?"Luca didn't answer. He didn't need to. The memory of that moment her defiance, her trembling fury, the pain in her eyes burned brighter than the fire itself."She's not our enemy," he murmured.

Cassia frowned. "You're starting to sound like your mother."

That made him look up sharply. "Careful, Cassia."She sighed. "I'm only saying compassion is dangerous here. The King won't forgive another mistake. He already suspects you're hiding something."Luca's eyes darkened. "He should."

He stood and turned toward the blood-red moon once more. "Something's wrong with this war. The wolves didn't strike first. Someone wanted this chaos."Cassia folded her arms. "And you think you'll find the truth before your father does?"

He smirked faintly. "I don't need to find it. It'll find me."

As the wind howled through the dead trees, Luca looked back at the burning forest unaware that somewhere beyond those ashes, the same silver-eyed girl was whispering his name with vengeance on her tongue.

Two enemies.

Two heirs.

Bound by fate neither could escape.

Chapter 3 When Fangs Meet Claws

Three weeks had passed since the fire, but the smoke still haunted Aria's dreams.

Every night she saw crimson eyes in the darkness, every morning she woke with her claws extended, heart pounding, fangs bared to ghosts. The surviving wolves had relocated deep within the Frostveil Woods hidden from the vampire patrols that now roamed the borders. Aria had trained harder than ever. Each scar became a vow, each bruise a reminder that she could not rest until the vampire prince's heart stopped beating."Again!" she shouted as Kael attacked. She dodged, flipped, and drove him into the dirt. Her blade kissed his throat. He grinned. "You're improving, little sister.""I'm not here to improve," she growled, sheathing her dagger. "I'm here to avenge."Kael sighed. "Vengeance makes you blind, Aria."

"Good," she said. "I don't want to see mercy."

She stormed off into the forest before he could reply. The night was cold, the trees whispering secrets to the wind. She was halfway to the river when she sensed it the faintest shift in the air. The kind of silence that only meant one thing. She wasn't alone.Aria spun, claws flashing. "Show yourself!"

A shadow detached from the trees. He moved with unnatural grace tall, dark, and calm, his red eyes glinting under the moonlight. Her breath caught. Those eyes."Easy," he said softly, hands raised. "I'm not here to fight."Aria's heart slammed against her ribs. Her voice came out sharp. "You're trespassing, leech."

He smiled faintly. "And you're far from your pack, little wolf."The sound of his voice it was deep, smooth, dangerous. It shouldn't have made her pulse quicken, but it did."Give me one reason I shouldn't tear your throat out," she hissed. He stepped closer, unfazed by her snarl. "Because you're curious."Her claws twitched. "About what?"

"Why I didn't kill you that night."Silence stretched between them. The forest seemed to hold its breath.

She glared. "You think sparing me earns mercy?"

"No," he said quietly. "It earns answers."He moved closer, slow enough that she could have attacked should have attacked but she didn't. Something about him disarmed her. Not his beauty, not his voice, but the sadness in his eyes.

"Who are you?" she demanded.

He bowed his head slightly. "Luca Blackthorn."

The name hit her like a blade to the chest. "The prince."

"And you," he said, his gaze steady, "are the girl who swore to kill me."

Aria clenched her jaw. "Still plan to."

Luca smiled faintly. "Then perhaps we should talk before you do."

"Talk?" she spat. "You murdered my pack."

His expression darkened. "Not I. Not my will. There's something else at play, Aria. The war it's being manipulated."She scoffed. "You expect me to believe a vampire prince wants peace?""No," he said, eyes flickering crimson. "I expect you to believe I want truth."

For a long moment, neither moved. The moonlight poured between them, cold and bright. Somewhere, a wolf howled.Aria lowered her blade slightly not in surrender, but in curiosity she couldn't kill. "Speak fast, Prince. Before I change my mind."

Luca's voice softened. "Then listen closely, Wolf. Because the truth will destroy everything you've ever known."
