The land was shaking, people started to scatter all around. Someone was coming, it was the king's chariot. This is something very common, people panics whenever someone from the royal palace goes through the town. I live in the royal capital of Abaddon. This is the land where the vampire overlord lives, he is called "Amon Abaddon." He is one of the five ancient beings who rules one of the five great kingdoms of the world. Most of the peasants like me sees him as a monster who sucks human blood, but in reality, he is not that bad.
I remember about that one time when my father shared his story about meeting the king, he only spoke nice things about the king. It wasn't really that deep of a deal. His majesty has always been the friendliest man. He even gave out free food to all those beggars and vagrants that lived in the street and on the roads. He never asked for anything in return from any of the villagers and he always treated us all with compassion. I was not born in this kingdom though, that is what my parents told me. I was actually born on the land of the fairies. My entire family was attacked and exiled into this land where we were welcomed gently. Currently I am just an orphan girl who sells handmade shoes on the streets to make a living. Both my parents died some years ago on an accident that happened on the farm. I do not know exactly what happened, they never explained anything. I was very young at the time, so i did not know what to do. I miss them but there is nothing i can do to bring the dead back to life. There is a little cottage on the outskirts of the village, and i spend most of my time there. That way my family would be happy and I could stay away from the village. The cottage is a bit small for my liking, but the place is cozy nonetheless. It looks quite abandoned right now. The door has rusted completely shut and no light shines out from under it. My heart breaks each time i see the door, it reminds me of how many times my parents had to suffer in this horrible place. At least here we didn't have to worry about being eaten alive by the evil spirits. The house isn' t really furnished either, the table and chair are just scraps of wood from the forest, they have no furniture inside. My mother used to keep the house tidy, she knew every inch of her kitchen and every corner of the house. Everything was clean and orderly. Now it feels empty, lonely...empty. I want to scream; I want to break everything down until it becomes whole again. The room is filled with memories of her, but the walls are bare. She used to put beautiful flowers everywhere but now she is long gone. The house is full of sadness...my sadness. The house feels cold, dark...cold. So cold. I should not be standing here looking at this miserable place, I should be running far away somewhere else. But that is not possible anymore. I have nowhere else to go, no one left to take care of me or love me. There is nothing but darkness ahead of me, so i will just try to get through it. I don' t think there is a point in crying anyways, so instead I will focus my efforts on making myself better than I am right now. Even if I die trying to survive, I'll still be better off at the end then here. If I die then my suffering would end too, so that's why I'm not giving up yet. Every day when i get to the local market to sell shoes, i am greeted by my old friend Emily. She is a very nice girl who always helps me out, especially when it comes down to handling the royal palace guards. They are all vampires, so they see humans as lowly beings. We were just peasants, so they always badly behave with us. " Do not look at us directly, just give us the shoes we asked. " One of the royal guards tells me. " But you have not paid me yet, it costs me a lot time and materials to make them. " I talked back to them for the first time and got them mad at me. They started cursing me and one of them even got out of the horse to attack me. I was so scared that it felt like everything froze around me and i just waited for the guard to come close and end my miserable life. I closed my eyes tight and waited. When the guard finally came closer and started kicking the ground next to me. I opened my eyes slowly, expecting to find the guard looking at me with hate. Instead, i found him staring at the ground, he did not move nor did he say anything. As soon as the thought crossed my mind, I saw him slowly lift his head and look at me, i saw his red eyes staring right through me and into my soul. I knew this was the end but then the guard suddenly got in his knees. " What is our young lord doing in such a busy place which is full of peasants?" He was looking at someone who was standing behind me. I wondered who it was and what might make such a strong vampire get afraid and get in his knees. Then i looked behind and saw who it was. A tall handsome man was standing there. " Who is he?" I asked myself. He was giving a divine vibe to me, i felt something very strong when i looked at the man. He did not look that old, maybe in his early twenties. He had red eyes and a very shiny black hair. " Are you okay miss? " He asked me politely. I was shocked and did not know how to to react. " It is okay, nobody is going to hurt you anymore. " He looked very attractive. I immediately had a crush on him. I finally saw the badge he was wearing and the two elite guards behind him. This man is no ordinary royal royal member. He was a prince, one of the three prince of our kingdom who will become the future king. " Hi, i am prince William. I am sorry for the trouble my guards have caused you. Who you might be? " He asked me while staring at me with those shiny eyes. " I am Anna, thank you for saving me. "
I never imagined the prince from the palace to be so handsome, always imagined them as monsters who drink human blood. " Are you okay miss? " The guard who previously tried attacking me apologizes and asks me if i was okay or not but it did not make me happy at all. Before i could say anything, i saw the prince use his sword and cut the guard in half. Blood started to pour all over and i finally saw the devilish side of him, his eyes got even more red. " I cannot be out in the sunlight for too long, so i will have to get back into my chariot.
I apologize for what my man did to you, would you like to come with me into our castle? I would love to make you, my acquaintance. " Prince William smiles and tells me without hesitating. His smile is very enchanting but i can't really take a liking to it because his teeth are crooked and his voice is low but still pleasant and soothing. I thought he was a monster that attacked the guard a minute ago but now he looks like an angel. I became really nervous and my friend Emily noticed it, she immediately came to my side and told the prince that i was going to come. " My friend Anna is just nervous my lord, she will come with you. " She told him. He smiled at her and told her to come with him too. " You can continue with your work for now, i will send someone to pick you two up later tonight. " The prince left the market and everyone started to gather around us to ask what he told us as they could not hear anything from far. Emily was already getting frustrated so i grabbed her hand and pulled her along with me, saying that we needed to leave before some people start talking nonsense. Emily looked at me suspiciously as she tried to look through the crowd but she still followed me. We entered a church where we both sat down and started to grasp just what happened in our life. It all seemed like a dream to me, so i told Emily to pinch me and wake me up to reality. After that we both laughed hysterically while trying not to cry because what was happening was so unbelievable. After we stopped laughing and cried together for a while, we decided that maybe we should try something new. It wasn't something bad so we didn't regret it later on. We got back to our house and brought out the nicest dress we could find, of course Emily lends me one of hers as i did not have anything good with me. I wore a nice dress for the first time in my life, at least the parts i remember. After Emily spend so much time preparing me and make me look as good as possible, i became unrecognizable. I looked at the mirror and shocked to see just how much i have changed. " We got invited by the prince, it is not something very normal. He definitely had a crush on you, i will make sure that this goes somewhere, you just hit the jackpot. Look at you Anna, you look so gorgeous, i have never seen so beautiful like you, everyone in the royal palace will have a crush on you. " She told me with excitement. I cannot deny her claim as i was looking at the mirror, i really did look beautiful. I was wearing a black short dress, it went above my knees and had a big V neckline. There was lace in the sleeves, i wore black high heels that i usually don't wear. The whole outfit completed my appearance perfectly. We waited for some time and finally the chariot prince William was talking about knocks on our door. Emily opened it and a guard was already there waiting for us with a smile that made my heart flutter. This time Emily helped me to get inside, we bowed to each other and sat down on opposite seats of the chariot. There were five horses carrying the chariot, they all looked majestic. They started moving, heading to the main gate of the castle. The whole ride was silent except for the horses' hoof beats and the wind blowing in our faces. Emily said nothing throughout the trip. It was actually quite comfortable since we weren't talking, she just played with her fingers or took out some books and read. I just observed her and enjoyed her company. When we arrived at the entrance i saw that many servants and guards were standing there, holding torches and torches were placed at every corner of the walls. The torch light blinded me a little but after blinking a couple of times, i started to think what all those lights meant. Someone from the castle comes near our chariot and asked the rider who was sitting inside the chariot and he told them that it was two girl who were invited by prince William. We overheard them and found out that another prince was coming over to the castle and these guys were here to welcome the prince. We came in the wrong time but whatever, we got welcomed inside and when we got out of the chariot, we noticed the prince also enter in his gigantic chariot. He looked different than his brother prince William, he looked shorter but he seemed calmer. He was greeted by the guards at the entrance and soon he started to walk inside the castle, we stood and decided to give him the respect by bowing down. He stopped when he came in front of us, he smiled at us and asked who we were. " I am Emily and this is my friend Anna, we were invited by prince William into the castle, which is why we are here. " Emily and i were both very nervous and did not dare look directly into his eyes. Suddenly the prince grabbed one of my hands and got me close towards him. I panicked but then i felt warmth spreading from his hands to my whole body. Then i realized that he was giving me heat from his hands and that calmed me down and my fear slowly vanished. It was kind of weird to feel that but he has such a warm presence that i couldn't help but relax. " You look so beautiful, what is your name? Anna? "
"AH......Yes, i am Anna." My voice shock as i talked because of how nervous i was. The Prince smiled at me and told his guards to accompany us to the guest hall. "My name is Henry, i am the older brother of William. I hope you enjoy your stay at our palace, we shall meet again." He smiled warmly at me, a little smile that could make someone feel happy inside. I didn't have time to reply before i saw another person enter the room. He had red hair, pale skin like a ghost. He was taller than both me and the prince. The man bowed to the prince and spoke with him in hushed tone. The prince nodded.
I saw him look back at me, his gaze lingered for a moment longer than expected. It was like he was saying something but he couldn't find the right words. Then he excused himself and went to leave with the guard. His eyes were focused on my face the whole time. As the door closed I felt like a shiver ran down my spine. We were then taken to a giant hall room where we were served all kinds of food. The guard who escorted us left, leaving us alone in the hall. Me and Emily started to get bored as Prince William was not coming. Then we asked one of the maids about where he was and if he would come to meet us. She looked very confused at first, until she remembered something and told us that the prince went out to visit some important business meeting. She even mentioned that it might take him a while to return from it. I thought it was odd that the prince went out to a business meeting when he invited us to the palace to meet him, but i didn't say anything else. Emily said that she needed some fresh air so i decided to accompany her. She took me to the gardens, which was really big and beautiful. There was a fountain with a lot of flowers and plants. In the middle of it was a huge white tree. There was a small bench under it and we sat down together. "It's so lovely here, isn't it?" She giggled lightly and smiled at me. I laughed too. After a few moments I realized i hadn't replied to her question. "Oh, yes, it's quite nice here.""Do you like it here, Anna?" She asked again."Yeah, it's a nice change of scenery. I like living here more now." Her gaze never left mine, but a smile came onto her lips when she heard what i said. Emily looked away and blushed faintly. "Really?" I nodded my head. "Good, I'm glad you are comfortable here, Anna. Even if it is the last time we get a chance to be here in the kings palace, i am glad that i am here. Not every peasant like us get a chance like this." She sighed. We started to walk around the beautiful garden as it was very big and covered with different types of trees. It also reminded me of the forests of Narnia. There wasn't much noise though. I could hear chirping birds and other sounds in the distance. I smiled softly to myself. This is a good place to live. Emily went to the other side while i started to explore the opposite side. I walked slowly to the far corner. Suddenly I stopped. I could see someone there... Wasn't it supposed to be just me? But there was no sign of anyone else... I looked over my shoulder to check if Emily was already there. No sign of her either... I frowned. Maybe she was gone already? I turned back around slowly, my heart beating faster with each step i took. I reached the end and stood still. I knew that someone was there. I knew i could sense someone. The hairs on my arms stood up and goosebumps appeared on my skin. Suddenly i saw a monkey jumping through the small trees of the garden. I felt relieved. I started to follow the monkey out of curiosity and found a man sitting in the grass, writing something in his notes. He had the same kind of mysterious aura around him like the other two Prince i met, so i got even more curious and wanted to talk to him. He also had beautiful attractive hair and facial structure. I approached him. "Excuse me sir, i don't want to bother you or interrupt you," i started talking but he didn't respond. He continued writing in his notes. He was probably deaf or deafness. I took a deep breath and tried to think of some other way to talk to him. Finally i decided to try again. I cleared my throat, "Sir, may i ask you a question?" He didn't seem to care so i decided to keep talking. "May i call you Sir?" Another pause followed. He didn't react anymore. I frowned at his actions. What is wrong with him? Is he crazy? He should be grateful that someone was willing to talk to him, i can't believe he doesn't respond to someone calling him by his name! He must be really deaf. I thought maybe he would like me if i addressed him politely but instead i got nothing but silence. "Well, if you don't mind i will leave you be. You seem like you need some peace and quiet. So please excuse me." When i started leave, he finally opened his mouth. "I thought you work in the palace, you don't seem like you do. i am sorry, i was writing something very important, couldn't reply back." He said it as politely as he could. My heart immediately melted and i felt sorry for thinking that he was a deaf. As he was busy with his writing, i did not wanted to disturb him anymore. With that, i walked back to Emily. When i arrived there i saw her standing outside, looking at me curiously. "What took you so long?" She whispered quietly and I shrugged. "I met a strange person in the gardens other side. He looked a bit similar to the two Prince we met, he also had that divine aura around him. I wonder who it was." I told told Emily, making her get curious about the man as well. Just when we were about to talk more, a guard walks up to us and told us about Prince William returning back to the palace. We finally met the Prince and he started to talk about all sorts of things. We also asked him about many things and he answered all of them, he really was a nice person despite being a potential future future ruler of the kingdom. As we were talking, i saw the man from the garden walking through the stairs to go to the upper floor. So i asked Prince William about who that person was. "He is my younger brother, Prince Ford. "
