"Loren! Get up! Your gonna be late for your first day of school! Come on!" Loren Grey heard her dad yell. The turned to her side, the sun blinding her. Ugh, she thought. Her two sweet Pomeranian's, Angel and Smudge, were sleeping on their dog bed that was on the side of her room. Loren was going to have her first day at her new school, Let And Learn High School. If she had to be honest, the name was pretty stupid. She, her parents, and their two dogs just recently moved to Los Angeles. She was nervous, but not that much.
She had moved many times, she even got to live in Dubai for a month and a half. You could say she was lucky. Her mom and dad were both Brand Representatives, so she got to travel a lot. But that also meant leaving friends behind. Loren yawned and went into the bathroom to take a nice long hot shower, even though it was already 80 degrees outside. That was a habit of hers. No matter if it was summer or winter, she always took a hot shower. Loren couldn't really take a nice long shower, because her dad was still hollering from the stairs. "I'm coming!" She snapped back at him. Loren knew she wasn't supposed to snap at her dad, but he was really being a pain in the ass. She grabbed her back pack and walked down the stairs in the most slowest way possible. She was now rethinking her thoughts about her knew school. She looked at herself in the big mirror in front of the stairs. Was her hair good enough? She had left her hair untied, but the wavy blond curls were getting on her nerves. She would just have to deal with it. She walked inside the kitchen where her mom was making something good and her dad was reading the newspaper and drinking coffee at the same time. "Mornin' Lori." Her dad said. "Mornin dad." She replied back. "So what's the news?" Loren smiled. It was something her dad always asked her. "Going to another stupid school." She said. "Loren, don't say that, you'll fit right in." Her mom said, putting a plate in front of Loren and kissing her on the cheek. Loren smiled again. Even though they had to travel and move all the time, her parents always made it seem as if everything was fine. That gave her confidence. She and her dad got in their Mercedes. "So you ready for your new school?" Her dad asked. "Yep." She said quickly. Her dad rustled her hair and her smiled. "You'll do just fine kid." She also smiled and thought, I hope. They got to the school, the big Let And Learn High School logo right in the front. Loren took a deep breath. "Have a good day Lori." Her father said. "Tell me the news after." "Will do dad." She closed the car door behind her, and not looking where she was going, she bumped into a boy. "Oh i'm so sorry." She said. "Nah mate, i'm sorry." She glanced at the boy, her eyes catching his bright blue eyes. He had an Australian accent. Who knew Australian boys could be handsome? "The name's Timothèe Drove. Call me Tim for short. You look new. Never seen you before." "Loren, Loren Grey." She said holding out her hand. He put and arm around her, as if she was an old friend. "Nice to meet ya Loren. So are you new?" "Yeah.." She said quietly. He grinned. "That's nothing mate, come let's go meet some of my friends before class starts." They walked toward the stairs and a boy came up to Tim. "Tim, guess what? I managed to put ball pit ball's in that assholes locker." "Ah, nice. Chance, this is Loren, Loren this is Chance." "Bonjour m'lady. You can call me Chan for short." "Or Chain. That's another name, he can be a big pain in the ass." Chance laughed. "I can be sometimes, but for a good reason." "Yeah sure, mum, you just don't want us to get expelled. This was the last school who would take us." Chan frowned. "Well that was because you couldn't keep your eyes off her." Chance had a french accent, which she liked. She had been to France once, and she quite liked it. Chance and Tim started arguing when another boy, extremely handsome, came along. "Chain, Tim shut the fuck up already." The two boys stopped arguing. "Morning Harvey." Tim said. "Mornin." He said. He saw Loren standing there and said, "Tim see you got a new girlfriend huh mate?" He teased. Tim blushed. "No, this is Loren shes new. I was just going to show her around the school." The cute boy shook her hand. "Names Harvey Cantwell." "Loren Grey." "You can call Harvey, HRVY." Chance said looking at Harvey. Harvey shrugged. "Call me whatever you want, but call these two little shits." Loren laughed. She liked his keen sense of humor. "So what are we doing tonight?" Tim asked, trying to change the subject, which Loren was happy for. "Put paint in his hat." Harvey replied simply. She now realized these three were trouble. Chain laughed at what Harvey said. "Next time well toilet paper his locker." "Um, whose him?" She asked, which she probably shouldn't have. But curiosity. What could she say? "Harvey's enemy, Mitch." Chance said. "No, his name is bitch." Harvey said with a hard voice. It was clear Harvey loathed Mitch. "Was he rude, somehow?" "Yeah, pretty much, Mitch's girlfriend Loretta liked Harvey...and things got interesting. And so now their sworn enemies for life. Also Harvey wasn't even interested in Loretta. Shes a cheerleader, and worse the captain." Tim explained quickly. Loren raised an eyebrow. "Why do you hate cheerleader's so much?" "No reason." Harvey said, his hazel eyes cold and his voice hard like a stone. "Anywayyy, me and Loren are going to go, well see you guys at lunch." Tim said, grabbing Loren's hand. She waved goodbye to Harvey and Chan, then followed Tim.
The day wore on and soon it was almost the end of the day. He and Tim were stuck in English class. "Mate, guess what?" Tim whispered to Harvey. "What?" He whispered back. "You, me and Chain got invited to Alisha's party tonight." Tim said taking out his phone, but the teacher was standing right next to him. "Timothèe Drove, glad to explain to me why you have your phone out? Trying to find answers about your quiz huh? Well their right there in your book." Mr. Moss said smiling as he took Tim's phone away. They watched as Mr. Moss took out a key and opened a drawer.
He put the phone in and locked the drawer again. "Shit." He heard Tim say under his breath. That locked drawer was called Da Hell. At least that's what everyone called it. When you were caught having your phone out, Mr. Moss took it and put it in the Da Hell, never to return to you again. Finally, the bell rang and Harvey got up and put his stuff in his bag. Kids started running out of the door, ignoring Mr. Moss and how he was reminding them about homework that was due on Friday. He and Tim walked out the front door, Mr. Moss right behind them. "Bye you two, remember homework due on Friday." Harvey nodded. "Thanks Mr. Moss." Tim waited till Mr. Moss had disappeared around the corner. "Mate could you please get my phone from Da Hell? We need it if we wanna party." "Nah mate, I don't even think we need to party." "Well I still need my phone HRVY." Harvey yawned. "Fine ill get it." Loren and Chain walked up to them. "HRVY, what are you up to?" Chan asked with curiosity. Harvey glanced at Loren, her dark blue eyes catching his hazel eyes. "Yeah what are you up to?" She asked. He shrugged. "Oh nothing, just getting Tim's phone back from Da Hell." Loren gave Chain a confused look. Chain on the other hand, looked shocked. "Da Hell is a drawer that Mr. Moss, the biology teacher has, and if you have your phone during his class at any time, he puts your phone in Da Hell, aka the drawer. And he has a key to it, and we need my phone because were going to a party, you could always come along if you want." Loren smiled. "Sure why not, but how in the world are you going to get Tim's phone back?" She asked Harvey. "Eh, a little thing here, a little there." "Well don't try and kill yourself getting this assholes phone." Chain muttered. "And the fact that the phone case was decorated by his sister." Harvey added. "Shut the fuck up. I love my sister." Tim growled. Harvey and Chain cracked up. "I think that's sweet." Loren said. "At least Tim has a better sister than me or Chain." "You have a sister?" "Nah, two brothers. Chain has one brother and two sisters." Chance rolled his eyes. "Such a pain in the ass." He muttered. "Alright quit joking mate, I need my phone." "Yeah, yeah. Loren could you hold my backpack for me?" Loren nodded and he gave it to her. "Oi, don't die." Loren whispered to him quietly. Harvey smiled and gave a small laugh. "Don't worry it wont take long." She nodded again, but concern was still showing in her eyes. It irritated him and finally he said, "Take my phone. If I don't be back in ten minutes call Tim's number." They all nodded, and Harvey ran inside the school. He went up the many stairs, going three at a time, just to make it faster. Mr. Moss's door was still open, so he could sneak in there easily. He sat down on the teacher's chair, looking for those pins that made paper really organized. He found one and he fixed it so that it looked like a demolished key. He played with the lock for a few minutes, before the drawer opened. There were so many phones in there, he didn't know which one was Tim's. Then he saw a phone ring, and he knew that was Tim's. How come ten minutes went by so quickly? He answered the phone. "What?" "Yo get the fuck out of there, Mr. Moss is coming back." "Alright, i'm coming." Harvey put the phone in his pocket and ran back down the stairs and going through the back exit before Mr. Moss could see him. Too close for comfort. He got back to Loren, Tim, and Chain. He took the phone out of his pocket. "Here." He said, trying to catch his breath. "Mon du, give the boy some water." Chain said, his french accent loud and bold. Loren grabbed her water bottle from her backpack and gave it to Loren. Harvey took it greedily and drank almost all of it. "The party is at ten at night, we can go on our bikes. Loren do you have a bike?" "Yeah." "Good, were going to be partying." Harvey and Chance rolled their eyes. That night, he pulled on a simple white t-shirt and he wore the same pants he wore to school. He made sure Elliot, Ollie and his parents were asleep. Yep. He could hear his dad snoring. He carefully sneaked out of the back door. He managed to open the garage and got his bike. He texted Tim and Chain saying he could meet them at the party. When he arrived, there was a full on party, and by the looks of it, someone had sneaked in some alcohol. Chain, Tim and Loren had finally come. "Well this is some party." Tim said smiling. Harvey had a feeling Tim had wanted them to come for a reason, but he could be wrong. Tim wasn't the best lover, he also wasn't good at flirting, in that case. Nor was Chain. The four of them walked inside, neon lights were everywhere, and he was sure he could hear If I Can't Have You by Shawn Mendes playing in the background. Chain and Tim had disappeared, only Loren and Harvey were left. "You wanna go get a drink?" He asked trying to yell over the loud music. "What?" Loren yelled back. "You wanna go get a drink?" Loren nodded, which probably meant she heard him. He held her hand, so they wouldn't get lost in the crowd of people.
Life is...interesting. Just yesterday, she had done something she'd never done, and something she'd never even think of doing. She had just gone to a party, with three boys who screamed and smelled like trouble. (She was pretty sure one of them got too drunk, but she wasn't sure.) But she had to admit, she had the best time of her life..ever. Moving all the time, she didn't do fun things like partying, skiing, stuff like that. But yesterday, she had too much fun. Even if it was hanging out with three trouble makers. Three trouble makers that were her friends.
Loren walked downstairs, Angel following her. "Morning dad and mom." Her mom was making breakfast, and it smelled like pancakes. "Mornin sweetie." Her mom. "Morning kid, what's the news?" Loren panicked and tried to put on her most innocent face. She didn't want mom and dad to find out she went to a party. "U-um, nothing." She said smiling. Her dad nodded. Phew. "Make any new friends?" Loren bit her lip. She could say yes, and she could also say no. She could say yes, and tell her dad she was friends with three bad boys. Or she could say no, and say that she would work on finding someone. She chose no. "No, not yet, but ill find one some time or another." Her dad nodded again and took a sip of his coffee. Her dad was a big coffee lover. "Lori, could you let Angel and Smudge out in the backyard?" "Yeah sure." She let the dogs out and sat down in the kitchen. Her mom gave her a plate of handmade pancakes, which Loren personally loved. She ate them quickly, hoping she wouldn't be questioned too much by her father. Today her mom was dropping her off at school. "Come on Lori, I gotta get to work as well." "Coming." She replied drinking her cup of water and following her mom out the front door. When Loren arrived, she said goodbye to her mom. "Bye Lori, and also, go find some friends." "Will do mom. Bye." She waved goodbye and walked up the stairs of the school. Harvey walked arrived and walked beside her. "Mornin mate." "Morning Harvey." "You know, you could always call me HRVY. It's just easier. Plus your one of us now." "Yeah, but I don't like calling you that." She liked the way Harvey said she was one of them. "Ah-also another question: Do you l-like like Tim?" She noticed Harvey stutter and asked him if he was the one who got too drunk last night. "And could I ask you a question? Were you the one who got way to drunk last night?" Harvey gave a small sly smile, "I only feel a little lightheaded." "And no, I don't like like Tim." She said. Harvey nodded and the school bell rang, but before he could disappear in the crowd of kids she grabbed his arm and said, "If you feel lightheaded, you should probably head home." "Was that a pun?" He asked grinning and he walked over and disappeared in the crowd of kids. The day wore on with classes, and it was finally lunch time. She went to her locker to put her books away, and a girl with long brown hair that was in a ponytail, wearing a cheerleader outfit walked toward her. "Hello, my names Loretta Way, you might have heard of me, i've seen you've been hanging out with HRVY, and his friends." She said in a sweet voice. Loren raised her eyebrow. "Anyway, I am giving you an opportunity, an opportunity that I have never given to new kids like you. I would like you to be part of the cheer leading squad. It's an opportunity of a life time." Loretta said, ignoring the way Loren raised her eyebrow. Surely, this couldn't be the same Loretta Harvey, Tim, and Chain were talking about, right? Loren didn't even know what Loretta looked like. And plus, she's always wanted to cheer lead. It was a dream to be a cheer leader. Why not? "Sure, why not?" Loretta jumped up in glee. "Here's my number, ill text you for your first cheer leading meet up. That's what we call it. Anyway, I must get going. Ta!" After school, she met up with Tim, Chance, and Harvey. "Hey guys." She said, walking toward them. "G'day Loren." Tim said, putting his phone in his pocket. "Bonjour Loren." Chain said kissing her hand quickly, then looking back at his phone. "I didn't know I was getting formal hello." She said, blushing. Harvey didn't even say anything, and kept looking at his phone. "Why are you guys so interested in your phones?" Tim turned his phone over to show a video of a black haired boy getting pied in the face. "Whose that?" "Bitch." Harvey muttered. "Mitch, our good friend Boston pied him in the face." Tim explained, giving Harvey a look. "Wow. That's so stupid." Loren said laughing a little. Chance also laughed. "I know right, that's what I said, oh and look at this one, its where we toilet papered his locker, it was so funny." Chain showed Loren his phone. She heard Mitch swear in the video. "Je veux dire, isn't that funny?" "It is kinda funny." She had to be honest, it was the most funniest thing she saw all day. She glanced at Harvey, who was smiling a little bit. "Et plus, it was my idea." Chain grinned. Tim nodded. "Chain pretty much begged us to do his idea." "And it turned out pretty well." Chance smiled. "You know Tim, I really like Loren. She knows our humor." "Yep, she's a good friend." Tim agreed. Chain nodded. "Oui." Harvey didn't say anything and kept looking on his phone. Chain pulled Loren away from Tim and Harvey and he said, "Loren, I need some help." "Yeah sure, what's up?" Chain took a shaky breath. "I really like this girl, her name is Gweni. I tried talking to her, but i'm just so...nerveux, nervous around her." Loren nodded. "And?" "Et, I want to talk to her, it's just so putain frustrating." Loren put a hand on his shoulder. "How about I go talk to her for you?" It was the least she could do for the poor guy. "Oui, thank you so much Loren." He said giving her a quick hug. "Hey Loren, come on!" Her dad called from the car. "Coming! Bye Chan, ill see you later!" "Au revoir!" He replied back as she ran toward her dad's car. When she got in the car her dad said, "Whose that...boy?" Loren heart stopped for a moment, and she laughed nervously.
