The air was charged with anticipation as Ruby set the table joyfully. She had been planning this dinner for months now to celebrate her tenth anniversary with the love of her life. It was a decade of shared dreams and cherished memories, deserving nothing short of perfection.
She arranged the dining ware on the table, lit some candles, and spread rose petals on the floor, giving it the 'love theme'. The candle flickered, casting a warm golden glow. She carefully selected their preferred wine and made a playlist of their favourite songs to create a special atmosphere and commemorate the strong connection they had developed over the years. As Ruby reached out for the gift she had gotten him, she couldn't help but smile-it was a bracelet with charms representing all of their happy times.
Ruby swiftly headed for her bedroom to get glammed for the night. Standing in front of her closet, she contemplated the various outfits available to her. Her aim this night was to look breathtaking, so she reached out for a strapless mini-dress in the most vibrant colour-red. She let her hair fall magnificently on her shoulder. Completing this look, she opted for a matching pair of heels that complemented her legs perfectly.
But as minutes turned to hours, Ruby's excitement slowly transformed into a growing unease. Her heart sank as she realized that he was running late, and it was unusual. He was always punctual, irrespective of the occasion.
The sound from her doorbell jolted her awake. Ruby couldn't believe she dozed off while waiting for the love of her life. She reached out for her phone to see if she got any message from him, but there was none, and it was already past midnight. Who could be at the door by this time, Ruby wondered. She sluggishly made her way to her door and looked through the peephole. She was elated as it was someone she had been yearning to see all day. She opened the door, hugged him with excitement, and began to pull him towards the dining area she had set up, chatting about her day and all she had planned. She knew something was wrong when he had a cold, blank look despite all she had told him, and this sent shivers down Ruby's spine.
"What is wrong, babe? You don't look like your usual self?" Ruby asked with concern.
"We need to talk," he said without making eye contact."
"All right. Let's sit," he said.
"I'd rather stand," Robert replied.
She looked really worried about the unexpected.
"Ruby, you are such a sweet person, and I can attest to that because we've been together for so long," Robert continued.
Ruby nodded in affirmation.
"We've shared and done everything together, but I don't think it's serving anymore. It's not you," he explained.
Tears began to gather in her eyes as she couldn't believe what she had heard. She struggled to get a word out.
"Please don't do this. We can make it work; just give us a chance," she pleaded.
"I've thought about it so hard, and this is what is best for both of us," he responded.
"You alone can't tell what's best for both of us. Couple therapy wouldn't be bad. Please, let's give it a try," Ruby implored.
"I'm sorry," he stated.
"Don't I deserve a reason better than this?" she asked.
"I'm sorry...I'm sorry," he said as he exited her house, leaving Ruby shattered.
Her world has come crashing down at her feet. She fell to the ground, screaming out her lungs, holding onto her chest as it was about to get ripped out. She cried her eyes out until she couldn't cry anymore.
************
It's exactly eight hours since she got the most heart-wrenching news from the one person she thought she had forever with." Ruby sat on the floor of her room with a bottle of whiskey. Memories were flooding her mind at every gulp she took, which caused tears to escape their house and roll down her cheek. She had no appetite for food nor interest in her usual day-to-day routine. This went on for days until she had a realization that she couldn't go through this alone. But she doesn't have anybody here to share in her pain as her best friend since middle school relocated to Las Vegas last summer to take on a new job.
Reluctantly, she dialled her friend's number, who picked at the second ring.
Immediately, she heard her voice and felt a level of comfort.
"I need to talk to you," Ruby said in a very sad tone.
"Ruby, what's wrong?"
Ruby then relayed all that happened between her and Robert, leaving out zero details.
"Oh, baby, I'm so sorry. I know this is heart-wrenching for you, but we will get through it together."
"How...How do I heal from this hurt? How do I begin to navigate through life without him, knowing we've always done things together for so long?"
"Ruby, I think a change of environment would help. You've known Robert for twelve years and dated for ten, so you both have loads of mutual friends. You could run into him or any of your mutual friends, which won't give you the chance to heal."
"I don't have anywhere to go to," Ruby said amidst tears.
"Come to Las Vegas."
"I don't want to be a burden to you."
"Come on Ruby, we are not just friends, we are practically sisters, so you can never be a bother to me. If I can't be there for you when you need me, then what's the essence of our friendship?"
"Can I think about it?" Ruby asked.
"Yeah sure, always remember I'm here for you," Naomi assured.
Ruby managed to get up from her bed and headed for the bathroom. She took off her clothes, littering them on the floor. She turned the shower on, and as the water flowed seamlessly on her body, she began to think of Naomi's offer to relocate to Las Vegas-a city where she could leave her past behind and find purpose. She assured herself she would be fine with Naomi and that her friend would be of tremendous help in her healing process.
"It's time for a new beginning, although she isn't interested in love or men." She texted her friend, agreeing to relocate to her city before she lost herself to alcohol and endless thoughts.
In the days that followed, Ruby and Naomi made preparations. Ruby packed her bags, carefully choosing the essentials. Each item symbolized a step towards healing and a commitment to embracing the unknown.
On the day of her relocation, Ruby began to fill the trunk of the cab with her bags. When she was sure she had packed everything, she locked up the apartment and handed the keys to her landlady, who bid her goodbye. As the car engine came to life, driving down the corridors of her city, she felt a rush of sadness down her spine.
Ruby arrived at the airport, followed all the necessary protocols, and boarded the plane. Immediately, she settled into her seat. A mixture of sorrow and excitement enveloped her as her journey to a fresh start began. During the flight, she had ample time to think and assess herself and all that had been going on with her.
********
Naomi's car pulled up to the airport, and she eagerly scanned the arrivals, anticipating the moment she would be reunited with Ruby. Spotting her familiar figure among the crowd, Naomi's face lit up with a beaming smile. She rushed forward, embracing Ruby in a tight hug.
"Ruby! It's so good to see you," she exclaimed, genuine excitement radiating from her.
As they settled into the car, Ruby's usually vibrant eyes were tinged with a hint of melancholy. The weight of her recent heartbreak still clung to her, casting a shadow over her usual cheerful demeanour. Naomi couldn't help but notice the subdued atmosphere, and she reached over to gently squeeze Ruby's hand.
"Ruby, I am aware that this is a very tough time for you," Naomi began, her voice filled with empathy. But being here will help a whole lot." She offered a reassuring smile, hoping to lift Ruby's spirits.
The drive to Naomi's house was accompanied by a mix of conversation and comfortable silence. Naomi shared stories and the exciting places they could explore in Las Vegas. She pointed out landmarks and recommended places they could visit together.
As they arrived at Naomi's house, Ruby felt a bit of comfort envelope her. She was happy with her friend's presence and her new beginning, which she was about to embark on. She was determined to make Las Vegas her city and also make the best of it.
That evening, as they settled into Naomi's living room, the atmosphere was one of friendship and support. Naomi was determined to bring a smile back to Ruby's face, suggesting activities and places they could go to lift her friend's spirits. They talked and laughed, the familiarity of their bond acting as a balm to Ruby's wounded heart.
As the night wore on, Naomi gently broached the subject of going out to a club, hoping to introduce some joy and excitement into Ruby's life. "Come on, Ruby," she urged. "A little fun might be just what you need, and I happen to know the perfect place for that. Let's make some memories together." She held out her hand, inviting Ruby to take a chance on this new adventure.
Ruby mustered a grateful smile. She wanted to turn down the invite, but she knew Naomi had her interest at heart. A little drink and music might help uplift her, so she decided to go clubbing. "All right, let's go clubbing, but don't expect me to loosen up immediately," Ruby said with a smile on her face.
Naomi nodded understandingly, her concern for her friend evident in her eyes. "I get it, Ruby, but once the booze hits you, you will loosen up, trust me," she said mischievously. "Let's get ready," Naomi added as she got up to prepare.
Naomi helped Ruby pick the perfect outfit, did her make-up, and curled her hair.
"Don't you think this is too much?" Ruby asked.
"No, it's not. You need to send the right signal. Who knows? You might just get laid tonight and forget about that jerk," Naomi said.
"Naomi, I'm not looking to get laid, and it will take more than a night of pleasure to forget Robert. We dated for ten years," she said, trying so hard not to go down memory lane.
"I know, but that doesn't mean you should walk around with the 'I just got dumped' placard on your forehead," Naomi said while using her hands to make air quotes.
"I give up... do your thing," Ruby said resignedly.
"Yippee!!! You won't regret this, Ruby," Naomi jumped with excitement visibly showing on her face.
"I am already regretting it, so hurry up before I change my mind," Ruby threatened
The club was already in full swing when Ruby and Naomi arrived. They walked up to the bar for drinks.
"Hello handsome, can we get two shots of tequila?" Naomi said, flashing the sweetest smile she could come up with.
"No, Naomi, I want something mild like a cocktail," Ruby said, almost in a whisper.
"Ruby, you need to loosen up, and tequila does a perfect job."
"It's too strong, you know I'm a light drinker."
"Come on, Ruby, don't be a party pooper," Naomi said, trying to convince her.
"All right, just one shot," Ruby said resignedly.
"Barman, please get us two shots of tequila!" Naomi shouted, making sure the bartender heard her.
When the drinks arrived, Naomi quickly gulped hers and hit the dance floor. She tried pulling Ruby to dance with her, but she turned her down. Naomi was a social butterfly, very popular, and could easily blend into the crowd. She loved to party hard, which was the direct opposite of her friend. Ruby never understood the idea behind clubbing; she hated crowded and loud places, finding it difficult to keep up with Naomi.
One shot of tequila turned to two, and then she lost count. She was gulping the drink as if the solution to her problems lay at the bottom of the shot glass. Her phone lit up, and it was a text from Naomi:
"Hey girl, I hope you're okay. I just met this hottie, and we're about to leave the club for more fun. I hope you hook up with a nice guy tonight."
Ruby wasn't surprised at all because that was the kind of person Naomi was-like a moving train, always where the fun was. Ruby smiled, shaking her head, and began to put her phone away. Then, her notification light came on again. It was another text from Naomi.
"Remember, to get that bastard out of your system, you need to get another bastard in... Whatever happens tonight at the club remains at the club." Ruby stared at her phone for a while. She couldn't imagine getting laid tonight. She smiled and gulped her drink at once.
Ruby's beautiful figure caught the attention of a certain young man nesting by the corner. She seemed bored and alone, and he was here to relieve some sexual tension, so he decided to approach her. If he was lucky, he would get what he wanted: a good time with no attachment. Like a lion approaching its prey, he walked up to her.
"Take it easy on the drinks else you will hate yourself by morning once the hangover hits." Ruby lifted her face to the direction of the voice and she almost gaped. The owner of the voice was so good-looking, that he could pass as the god of beauty. He was the most beautiful man she had ever seen. Tall, with the perfect face and body, his body was perfectly chiselled, and his dark blue eyes felt like a deep hole, pulling her in. His skin and hair looked properly taken care of, more than some ladies including her. He was smiling at her, revealing a perfect set of porcelain teeth. Ruby realized she was staring hard. She looked away, feeling embarrassed.
"It's fine, you can stare as much as you want. I tend to get that reaction from people a lot," Mr. Handsome said, still smiling. He signalled the barman.
"A shot of whiskey on the rocks," he requested. Ruby was too embarrassed to respond, so she just stared at her drink.
"So, are you here to have fun or drink yourself to a stupor?" the handsome stranger asked.
Ruby couldn't tell what fun looked like, even if it hit her on the face, but she was enjoying the attention from Mr. Handsome. She didn't want him to see her as a loser. Naomi's text kept flashing in her head, so she smiled, turned to face him, and played along.
"I'm here for the fun, but the night isn't going as planned," Ruby lied while flashing the most seductive smile she could.
"What kind of fun were you expecting?"
"You know what kind," Ruby said, seductively eyeing the handsome stranger. If she was to get laid tonight, then he was the perfect candidate. She couldn't believe she was doing this; she had never been the type to make a move on any guy.
Mr. Handsome stared at her for a while, as if trying to see through her mirage. She couldn't help but break under his scrutinising gaze.
"Fine, I just got dumped and I need to get laid, and you seem perfect for the job," she said all in one breath.
"Straight to the point...huh...What makes me perfect for the job?" He queried.
"Well, for starters, you don't seem like the emotional type, which is the last thing I need right now," Ruby said, praying deep down for all of this to end. She had resolved to go home if he turned her down.
Mr. Handsome stared at Ruby for a while. She was so beautiful, but she seemed more like a little lamb than what she was trying to portray. But if it was her wish to go to bed with him, he wouldn't turn her down. He picked up his drink and took a final sip.
"Follow me," he commanded.
"Where are we going to?" Ruby asked, confused. Even if she wanted to get laid badly, she didn't know this guy; he could be a serial killer.
"You said you wanted sex. Would you rather I bend you over in the club?" He asked bluntly.
Ruby couldn't reply. She tried hard to swallow her saliva as the image of him bending her over at the club flashed before her. She blushed hard and quietly followed the handsome stranger.
They got into one of the exotic cars parked at a corner outside the club and zoomed off. Arriving at the Grand Hotel, it was so beautiful and luxurious, obviously meant for the high and mighty. Ruby had never been to such a place before and she felt totally out of place. She knew she couldn't afford a room here, as everything at the hotel spoke luxury in loud volumes. Mr Handsome must have money to throw around, she thought. Why bring her to such a nice place just for sex? He was greeted by the receptionist as they walked past to the elevator. They got in, and he pressed the thirteenth button. In no time, the elevator dinged to indicate that they had arrived at their destination-a penthouse. The penthouse was huge, occupying the entire floor. It had a ceiling-to-floor window, and the view was magnificent.
"Drinks?" Stephan offered.
"I would rather have you," Ruby replied in a sexy voice.
"Slow down, tiger... we have all night," he replied as he walked to the bar to get some drinks. He handed a glass to Ruby while he sipped his.
"Thank you, Mr. Handsome," Ruby said before tasting the drink. It was a creamy sweet liquor, better than all the drinks she had ever had.
"Are you going to tell me your name, or should I keep calling you Mr. Hands-" Her words were caught in her throat as he crushed his mouth into hers. Her lips were so soft, and they tasted sweet, just like honey. Stephan had kissed many girls before, but this was different. He kissed her so hard as if trying to make her feel his sexual desire. It seemed to work, as Ruby slightly parted her lips, giving room for Stephan's tongue. As he kissed her, Ruby let out a little moan that sounded inviting. Stephan picked her up and headed for the bed.
He dropped her gently on the bed as if she were a fragile glass that could break. Stephan was never the gentle type when it came to sex, and so he didn't know why he was so gentle with this little lamb.
The kiss was so intense, and they were both running out of breath. Stephan pulled back a little, giving her a moment to catch her breath. He looked down at the pretty lady beneath him, and she looked all flushed. He smiled, then began to plant small kisses like a trail from her neck to the top of her breast.
"Do you want to continue? We could stop if you've changed your mind" Stephan said looking into her eyes with deep desire
"No...no...don't stop," Ruby replied, almost in a whisper. She was not a virgin, but she didn't know what was going on. This stranger makes her feel things in a way she has never felt before.
Stephan took this as an invitation to devour this little lamb. He stripped her and himself naked as quickly as possible. He couldn't hold himself anymore; he wanted her so badly and his hard member was making it hard for him to stay composed. He laid in between her thighs, with his hard shaft pressing against her core.
He played with her nipple for a while before taking it into his mouth. He sucked so hard while his hand was still playing with the other one, rubbing it between his two fingers. Stephan could feel her nipples harden, so he kept stroking it as he gently bit it.
"Ah...Fuck...uhm" A moan escaped from Ruby. Stephan kept sucking, licking and biting. This made Ruby go wild with pleasure. His hand moved from her breast and began skimming down to her core. Her skin was so soft and her body scent was intoxicating. Stephan hand was greeted by the overflow juice dripping out of her core, she was so wet and ready for his hard shaft, but instead of the shaft, he slid in his middle finger and began to finger her slowly increasing the pace gradually. Ruby couldn't help but grip the bedsheet with her eyes closed and her feet curled, she made a sound that was so seductive. After fingering Ruby for a while, Stephan got on his knees. He looked at her pink juicy core and it was so inviting, he licked the outer part and then used his hand to spread it open. He began making circles with his tongue. Ruby was over the moon. She was about to hit climax but she didn't want it to end, she tried her best to prolong it but couldn't and with a little cry she reached orgasm.
Stephan licked every juice flowing from her core, cleaning her with his tongue and making her horny again.
Ah....don't...Ah". Ruby couldn't string a simple sentence. When she thought she couldn't handle any more pleasure, he inserted his hard shaft. He rammed it in at one thrust pushing Ruby to the edge. Ruby soft, wet, juicy, tight walls clasped around Stephan's shaft.
Hum...Ah...fuck". He moaned but didn't move, giving Ruby time to adapt to his shaft inside her. Ruby moved her hips a little trying to get comfortable with his cock in her. He was so huge, stretching her walls to fit. Stephan starts thrusting, gradually picking pace with every thrust.
"Oh...Ah...don't stop" Ruby whispered digging her fingers into Stephan's skin and making him groan with desire. Stephan kissed her, she clinched tightly to Stephan as he increased the pace taking both of them to the peak. Ruby trembled and exploded and with a final thrust, Stephan exploded his seed inside her.
Stephan withdrew his cock and proceeded to the bathroom to clean up. He turned on the shower and let the flow from his head. While in the shower, it dawned on him that they didn't use protection. He got out of the shower, grabbed a towel and walked back into the room only to find the little lamb fast asleep.
Ruby had never had this much sexual pleasure and her body was so weak from the whole marathon, she knew she had to clean up but she was too weak to get up and in no time, she dozed off to dreamland.
"Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!" Ruby was woken up by the ringing telecom beside the bed. She struggled to get up from the bed, but her head ached.
"Where am I?" Ruby asked trying to figure out what happened last night. Gradually, the images from last night began to flash in her head. She couldn't find the handsome stranger on the bed, so she decided to check the bathroom, but he wasn't there. Then, it dawned on her that he had left. She walked back to the bed and found a pill with water and a note
"Hangover pills...Drink me"
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr. The telecom kept ringing. She picked it up, and it was the receptionist.
"Hello ma'am, I'm calling to let you know it's past check-out time, or would you like to extend your stay?" She asked in a polite and calm voice. Ruby knew she couldn't afford to pay for such a place, and the stranger who brought her here had gone, so she decided to check out.
Ruby stood outside the magnificent hotel building. She didn't know anywhere in Las Vegas. How would she get home? She stared at her phone for a second, then she decided to call Naomi.
"Hey girl, still in bed?... Sorry for disturbing your sleep. Can you please pick me up?" she asked, feeling sorry for disturbing Naomi's sleep but having no choice.
"Sure... where are you at?" Naomi asked in a sleepy voice.
"Grand hotel," Ruby replied.
"Grand hotel?" Naomi asked in disbelief.
"Yeah, please hurry, I'm standing outside."
"Okay, I will be there in ten minutes," Naomi assured her before ending the call.
Ruby couldn't help but count down to Naomi's arrival. She felt uncomfortable standing outside the hotel, drawing a few glances from the hotel guests going in and out. She decided to play a game on her phone to pass the time.
It had past fifteen minutes since her call with Naomi. Ruby was getting uneasy and frustrated. She was about to call Naomi back when she heard a familiar voice.
"Ruby, I'm so sorry for keeping you here. The traffic was hectic," Naomi explained.
"No problem. I'm just glad you are here now. Let's go," Ruby said, eager to leave. They both got into Naomi's car and drove off.
Immediately the car came to a halt at the parking lot in Naomi's apartment, Ruby dashed out of the car into her room. She was trying to avoid Naomi's questions as she knew her friend would want to hear every little detail of last night's encounter, and she was not ready to spill the gist. She kept wondering why the handsome stranger would leave without telling her or at least dropping contact info. She couldn't get him off her mind, and it was driving her crazy.
She locked her room door and went into the bathroom for a quick shower. Stepping out with her towel wrapped around her chest and water dripping from her hair, she saw Naomi sitting on her bed. She was startled by Naomi's presence.
"I thought I locked the door," Ruby asked, surprise evident on her face.
"Yeah, about that... the lock is bad," Naomi replied with a wide grin.
"Oh... okay... Can I help you with anything?" Ruby said, trying to keep herself busy to avoid the pending conversation.
"Come on Ruby, you know why I'm here. Just spill the gist already," Naomi said, trying to persuade Ruby.
Ruby knew she had to tell Naomi about her night. They had never kept secrets from each other, but she didn't know how to explain to her best friend that she had just had the best night of her life with a total stranger who disappeared by morning. Was she that bad in bed, she queried herself inwardly? Even if she was, he shouldn't have left like that. Ruby was not a virgin, but she was not very experienced when it came to sex, and she knew that. She thought her inexperience might have chased the handsome stranger away or maybe he was just a jerk.
"Fine, I will tell you all about my night, but first let me change into something comfortable, dry my hair, and eat something. I'm starving," Ruby said.
"Okay, I will order pizza. Hurry up," Naomi said as she left the room.
Ruby put on her favourite loungewear, and quickly dried her hair, feeling hungry as it was past noon and she hadn't eaten anything. She walked out of her room just in time as the pizza was delivered. She walked straight to Naomi, grabbed a slice of pizza, and started eating.
"Aren't you eating?" she asked Naomi with a mouthful.
"I will, you seem so hungry. Are you okay?" Naomi asked, concern visible on her face.
"I am fine," Ruby replied, still stuffing her mouth.
After eating, they both cleared the table. Ruby was praying Naomi would forget about their pending conversation and just let it go. Naomi walked out of the kitchen with two glasses of wine.
"Now we've eaten, Ruby. Time to spill," Naomi said, handing her a glass of wine.
"Nothing happened. After you left, I ordered more drinks and a handsome stranger walked up to me, I took your advice and got laid," Ruby said hurriedly, feeling embarrassed.
"Come on, Ruby, give me details," Naomi sounded excited.
"I flirted with him for a bit and somehow suggested I was there to hook up with a guy, so he took me to Grand Hotel, and we had a great time, but he was gone before I woke up."
"So what's his name? How was his physical look? How was the sex?" Naomi bombarded her with questions.
"He didn't tell me his name. For his looks, he was the most beautiful human I have ever seen, and the sex was out of this world. I have never felt this way about sex before," Ruby replied truthfully.
"So we don't know who he is, but judging from his choice of hotel, he must be rich," Naomi said.
"Yeah, I think he is," Ruby replied, sounding a bit sad.
"You don't seem excited, Ruby. For the first time in your life, you did something out of your comfort zone, and it wasn't that bad. You had a nice time," Naomi said, trying to cheer Ruby up.
"I know, but still, I feel like he should have at least told me his name, you know?"
"Ruby, brush it off. It's a one-night stand. What were you expecting?"
"Nothing... I guess."
"Welcome to Las Vegas," Naomi said with a smile, indicating that a one-night stand isn't a big deal in Las Vegas. Ruby sipped her wine, still pondering what could have been.
"Before I forget, I spoke to an acquaintance today, and he told me that Teeka Interiors is hiring. The salary isn't much, but it's manageable. I don't know if you are interested."
"Of course, I'm interested... What position are they looking to fill?" Ruby asked eagerly.
"Secretary position," Naomi replied.
"I'm interested."
"Okay, I will call him and let him know."
"Thank you, Naomi. I appreciate all you've been doing to get me back on my feet," Ruby said, feeling grateful for having a friend like Naomi.
"It's fine. I know you would do the same for me and even more, so it's fine," Naomi said with a smile, leaning in to hug Ruby. She then called her acquaintance and scheduled an interview for Ruby. After taking down the interview details, Naomi ended the call.
"Ruby, your interview is next month. The CEO is out of town on a business trip and he loves to interview his staff himself, don't forget to go with your resume" Naomi relayed the details to Ruby.
"That gives me enough time to prepare," Ruby said, feeling optimistic.
She retired to her room, already tired and grateful for how her life was going. With a smile on her face, she dozed off.
Ruby had been counting the days to her interview; she needed the job. She researched Teeka Interiors and was preparing herself for the interview.
**********************************
"Ruby, come out, breakfast is served," Naomi shouted.
She rushed out of her room in anticipation. "What did you cook?" She asked Naomi as she walked into the kitchen.
"My special pancake," Naomi replied, feeling proud of her culinary skills.
"I want four," Ruby said.
"Oh, someone must be hungry," Naomi teased. "I'm also brewing coffee, want some?"
"Yes, please."
Naomi served her friend while making small talk.
"Hope you are preparing for your interview; it's in two days," she asked.
"Yes, I am," Ruby lifted her mug to sip her coffee, and as soon as the aroma hit her nose, she started feeling nauseous. She ran to the bathroom to throw up.
"Ruby, are you okay?" Naomi asked with concern.
"I don't think so. I have been feeling nauseous, tired, and dizzy for a few days now," Ruby replied weakly.
"When was the last time you had your period?" Naomi asked.
"I don't know...I haven't seen it since I got to Las Vegas... Oh my God," Ruby began to panic.
"Calm down, I think I have a pregnancy test kit we can use," Naomi said, dashing into her room. In no time, she came out with the pregnancy test kit and urged Ruby to use it.
Ruby took the pregnancy test kit and hurried into the bathroom. She quickly took the test and waited for five minutes to get the result as instructed. The wait felt like an eternity. She hoped and prayed that she wasn't pregnant.
