I woke up with an extremely headache and my body ls so sour like I have been flung into the wall serveral time.

Why would I fee that way when am made to do all the house chores when the maids are available.

At first I was sad.

Then,I was filled with Dread as the memories came crashing into me.

I remembered the first day I saw Carlos,he was looking so handsome and cute.

He displayed his dimples making me to feel a butterfly in my tummy.

"Hello little one you are awake!"Carlos said gently bringing me out from my flashback.

"Yes.. are you ready for work?"I asked.

"Yes darling!"he replied and my face expression changed.

He noticed it and sat beside the bed.

"Don't worry I will be back early nothing will happen okay!"he said kissing and brushing my hair.

"Okay"I said blushing while he stood up and took his briefcase.

"Bye Romina"he kissed my lips and left.

For the past two years, Carlos and I have pretended to be in a relationship.

Like husband and wife stuff.

His family members were after his wealth so we sign up a fake marriage contract for him to make me his heiress.

But never did I know that his family is a hot place to stay.

Since I came in here, the family members are hate and made me their maid whenever Carlos is not around.

"Romina!"I heard my name from the kitchen.

I swallowed hard and took in a shuddering breath.

"Am not feeling well for all this!"I lamented my eyes growing teary.

"Romina.. will you get your ass down from that room now"she barked.

At his Carlos mother Mrs joy.

Beautiful but troublesome.

She can't give me a breathing space.

The ugliness of life is something we can't undo what has been done,it doesn't matter how devastating the outcome is..we can't turn back time or change the past.

"That's what my mom said when I told her about Carlos fake marriage!"

That faithful day,I came back from work to his Carlos with my mom and siblings.

At first I was happy to see them laughing for a very long time.

"Sister... Carlos bought for us chocolate"my little sister said showing me the chocolate with a smiling face.

I look at Carlos and smiled.

"Thank you" I whispered softly to him.

That was how I met Carlos and truly he has changed my life.

Since then I have learnt to be a happy lady despite the situations.

I moved slowly to the kitchen where Mrs joy is.

She was preparing breakfast.

"What are you looking at?"she asked when she noticed my presence.

"Good morning mother!"I greeted bowing my head lightly.

"Am not your mother.. you ugly thing"she said hitting her hands on the desk.

The sound attracted her daughter Becca who walked into the kitchen.

"Mom what is going on here?" She asked.

"This thing your brother bought in is the reason for my anger"she explain pointing her fingers at me.

"Mom, I have told you to stop making breakfast.. Romina is here to do that"she said taking away the knife from Mrs joy hands.

"Romina finish up the dishes and make sure you make it quickly!"Becca said rolling her eyes on me but I just keep quiet because that was how I grow up.

"Okay"I replied.

"Good for you"Becca said and left the kitchen with her mom.

I went over to where the beef was.

Don't mind me for not introducing myself.

Am Romina Johnson,a simple and an easy going lady.

Beautiful but not that beautiful.

And I love pop sweet so much.

My mom is alive while my dad is late.

I prepare the food just the way Carlos family likes it.

I don't call them my family Because am treated as one.

After some minutes,the food was ready to serve.

I dish out Mrs joy and his husband then placed it in a tray.

With that I took it to the dinner room.

Everyone was already waiting for me.

"What kept you so long in that kitchen?"Carlo's father asked.

Mr Jones is a strict man.

"Nothing sir"I replied bowing my head.

The two sons were already there.

"Where is my food?"the second some asked..

"Am coming let me go and get it"I replied walking towards the kitchen.

I usually eat in the kitchen apart from when Carlos is around.

This is the way I have been treated but I have never mentioned this to him.

I didn't want to cause a scene between his family.

"Goodness..am tired!"I said feeling headache.

But I need to finish up this then I can go ahead and take my bath.

I dish out the food for the two sons and also for Becca.

After that I took it to the dinner table.

"Here!"I said to nobody in particular as I placed the food In front of them and wanted to walk out when Mike, Carlos younger brother grab my hands.

"Ouch.. ouch"I screamed loudly trying to remove his hand.

"How dare you serve me food without juice?"he asked.

"I was going to get it when you...!"I didn't complete my statement.

With that he left my hands.

"Go and get it"he said dipping into the food.

I look at him with a lot of hatred.

Am only here because I want my family to leave a good life when am done I will leave.

But am falling for Carlos.

I think am in love with him but does he feel the same way for me.

"What kind of food is this"I muttered as I taste the food.. she has started again with her bad cooking skills.

I wondered what my brother Carlos sees in her that made him to marry a poor girl like her.

Actually is not my fault that I dislike Romina, just that I was bought up to know that the poor people are meant to be our maids.

I stood up and went over to the kitchen where she usually stay an eat.

Romina looks so cute whenever she is eating.

"What are you doing here sir?"she asked as she drop her plate In the sink.

"When will you start cooking good food in this house"I said.

"Always complaining,why did you go ahead and cook it yourself?"she replied and I froze immediately.

When did Romina started responding to me in this manner.

Within a minute,my hands landed on her cheeks.. making her to scream.

"Why did you slap me?"she asked as tears welled down her cheeks but I don't care, she deserves it.

"Let time you talk to me in that manner again I will kill you!"I said and left the kitchen.

"Carlos didn't see all the beautiful rich girls to marry!"I whispered to myself as I walk out of the kitchen.

My father stared keenly at.

"Mike what happened?"he asked but I didn't reply,I just went straight to my room.

Romina pov

Tears welled down my charger as I placed my hands on the affected Side.

My phone started ringing when I looked at it, Carlos was the one calling.

"Hello"I said with a little voice.

"Are you okay?"he asked in a worry tone.

"Am fine..how is work?"I asked trying to Change the topic.

"Well work is fine but I want to take you out.. are you free?'" my face cup out with smile.

"Yes but let me get ready"I replied.

"Okay text me when you are done"he said and disconnect the call.

I felt so happy that I forget the slap I received how many minutes ago.

I walked over to the parlor straight to my room.

I drop my phone and walked to the bathroom.

"You look terrible this morning"I said to myself opening the cabinet.

I bought out my toothbrush and toothpaste,then Walk to the sink,I applied some toothpaste and started brushing my teeth.

After that I raise my mouth together with the toothbrush.

I returned it to the cabinet and then pull off my clothes before getting into the shower.

I stepped out of the shower and pick a towel from the rail,I wrapped it around my waist and opened the adjoining door.

I walked back to the room and heard my phone beep,I walked towards it and picked it up.

A message from Carlos.

"Are you ready?"I read the message.

I smiled and drop back the phone,I walked into my wardrobe and bought out my underwear together with a Blueberry gown.

Carlos love this color.

I drop it and quickly dried up my body before applying my body lotion.

I wore my underwear followed by the dress.

I selected a pair of silver shoes and slipped my foot inside it.

Am done???

I picked up my phone and drop it inside my hand bag.

"This people will not allow me to go out"I said feeling angry.

I look at the window and an idea poop into my head.

I arranged my clothes In form of rope and used it to climb Down from the stairs.

"Hey where are you going to?"Mike asked but I don't reply as I opened the gate and Walk out.

I glanced at the world clock,it was already 12 am the time I gave Romina for our dinner.

I noticed that my secretary anna has already packed up her stuff ready to leave.

Anna has been working in my company for the past two years and my mom recommended Anna that was how she landed here.

"Good afternoon boss I heard that you are having dinner with your wife so am about to leave"said Anna with a sad expression.

"Why do the sad face?"I asked.

"Don't mind me sir"she laughs

I roll my eyes at her as I jot down something.

"Hurry Carlos,we will be late" Romina whines the moment she walked in.

At times like this,I really love to smack her ass but Anna is here and I can't do such things.

"Am ready"I said grabbing my stuff while Anna walked out also.

"Today's gonna be a blast" Romina said swinging her purse over her shoulder.

Holy moly!!

Seriously Romina is a play girl.

She loves playing a lot like a baby.

Seeing both of us together, you won't believe that our marriage is only based on contract.

But that is the truth.

"Yeah, you will really like the place"I smiled.

We arrive at the club by one thirty am and take the back entrance then look for a good place to seat.

"I love this place"Romina said.

"Yeah!"I nodded waiting for the waiteress.

"Can you drink a cup of alcohol?"I asked.

"Yes!"she smirked.

"Here you go" the waiteress said, dropping a tray of drinks.

I opened mine and stared at Romina to do the same but her face expression said something else.

"Any problem?"I asked.

"Nothing Carlos"she replied but am really sure that she is not telling me the truth.

"Sorry about that" Romina smiled sheepishly trying to cover up.

Romina pov

What Carlos was saying is not entering my ears as I remembered my past experience with my parents before I met him.

New day,new beginning and the new ways of enjoying life with our loved ones.

A melodious song resounded in my ears and a smile appears on my face.

Everyday I wake up listening to this voice and at the same time my eyes flew open.

Is not my alarm voice but the voice of my kid sister hehe...my sister's voice is so powerful to wake me up.

I heard a faint footsteps outside my bathroom and a minute it fades away giving me the clue to leave my bed.

I went down from my bed, headed to the bathroom.

After brushing my teeth,I proceed to the kitchen.

The minutes I stepped out of my room I saw my brother John in his night wear with sweat dripping on his face, indicating that he is just coming back from the gym and I scrunch my face looking at my handsome younger brother,he was about to pass by me but somehow,he saw me standing at the doorstep and gave him a devilish grin.

That grin startles me and I know what is coming next but most of the times I was late on pushing the damn door and that devil back hug me smearing his sweat all over me.

I splashed his head and smiled.

"Where is mom?"I asked.

Thank God I have not taken my bath if not John sweat will have to delay me from my work.

"At the kitchen"John replied walking away.

I walked back into my room, taken my phone and shove it inside my Jean pocket and walked out of the room.

As I approach the kitchen,I heard voices coming from there making my stomach to growl.

"Am damn hungry"

I walked into the kitchen and my mom was busy slicing the tomatoes.

*Good morning Mom!" I greeted taking the seat beside the table.

"Morning"mom replied as usual still slicing the tomatoes.

My house was not that kind of big,I mean it just a room and palour.

I share the room with mom and my kid sister while John sleep at the couch.

"Romina are you ready for work?"mom asked me dropped a dish of veggies in front of me.

Holy moly!!

I heard to inhale it.

"Yes mom"I replied feeling a little bit angry that she has to be doing the cooking.

You meant be wondering the kind of work I do?

Well,am a waiteress in a hotel and today's morning is my shift.

I glanced at my watch and discovered that am already late for work.

"Mom..see you later"I kiss her cheeks while Kate my little sister look at me waiting for her own kiss.

"Bye darling"I kissed her also and my smile.

I love seeing her smiling, displaying her beautiful dimples.

"Bye John"I screamed loudly enough for him to hear me.

"Romina, table four has been waiting for someone to take their orders"the manger said as he walked pass me.

I blinked at him, trying to figure out why am the only person on morning shift,he glanced over his shoulder and frown at me,I had to give him a fakest smile I could produce"I will attend to them"

"Good"

Rolling my eyes,I went over to the other table and clear the drinks.. after that I went over to the supposed table.

"Chicken stew"I announced as I dropped one of plates in front of two gentlemen.

Actually, I don't know they're gentle or not.

"Nice"the one on red shirt complemented and I was not sure if he was complementing the chicken or something else.

Still,I hold my tongue if I remain nice enough,those could find me a tips.

"Do you need anything else before I go"I announced looking at the other one that has been quite since I arrived.

Even his drinks,he has not opened it.

"Another chicken"the Same red guy said and I flashed him a smile..

As I turned around,my phone started to ring and it was unknown number...the manger was that the other end showing me"am I the only person on this morning shift" I muttered to myself as I turned towards the table ignoring the phone that kept on ringing.

I came back with the chicken and served him.

"Hi,my name is Romina,how may I help you!"I asked the caller as I dropped the tray in the table.

"Your mom has been admitted into the hospital"the caller replied and Immediately all the blood in my system suddenly frozen.

"Whaaaat!!'

The two young men both turned towards me at the same time and immediately my heart started beating rapidly.

"Not again"I muttered to myself wishing that it will not be the same issue.

"You are needed in the hospital"the caller said and from the voice it seems like a lady.

"Okay am coming" I replied.

"What is wrong?"the quite guy asked.

"Nothing!"

"Tell me"the quite guy responded smiling politely at me.

I stared at his teeth, feeling a stab go through my heart. Of course he had a perfect teeth.

"Let me get you guys a drink?"I asked wondering if I sounded as depressed as I felt.

My mom being in the hospital is another problem.

I just finished using my little salary to pay for the house rent and also Kate school fees.

"Tell me your problem because your face changed the moment you received that call?"the quite guy asked again with his dimples displaying.

Without waiting for my reply,to my surprise he stood up and grabbed my hand.

"Let me take to you for a moment"he request while I stared at his beautiful hands.

So cold.

"Yes!"I replied not knowing how long I have been staring at him.

We left the bar and went over to his car.

"Wow!!"I mouthed as I stared keenly at the car.

"My name is Carlos and yours"he said smiling.

"Am Romina"I replied.

"Nice meeting"he said but I was not paying attention to what he said.

All my interest was on that car.

Wow.. this car is something else!!

Look at the glass.

"I have a business for you"he suddenly said bringing me out from my thoughts.

"What kind of business?"I asked... feeling happy that finally am gonna get a good paying job.

"I want to hire you as my wife for three years"he said and my eyes went wide in suprise.

"I don't understand!"I uttered

"Look my family members are trying to take over my companies so I need you to act as my wife"he expects calmly and I breathed erratically.

"I will think about it"I said leaving him behind and went back to bar.
