Ever since she was adopted into the Newell family, Sheila had been tormented by her adoptive mother and elder sister, who treated her like a lowly slave. Gerald Lamont, the wealthiest man in the city, went to Sheila's house the very next day. However, to Sheila's horror, he proposed not to her, but to her elder sister, Winnie, who looked just like her. How did that happen? Worse yet, he didn't seem to remember Sheila at all. He even accused her of being a vain woman with ulterior motives. However, as time passed, Gerald gradually realized that Winnie was quite different from the woman he had slept with that fateful night. Would Gerald uncover the secret of the Newell family? Was Winnie really the woman he wanted to marry? If so, how come he couldn't seem to resist the urge to protect Sheila? If the truth was revealed, which lady would he choose?

Chapter 1 A Humiliating Deal

"Sir, your food is here."

Sheila Newell was a slim and beautiful woman. Wearing a sexy low-cut dress, she knocked furtively on the door of a hotel room. Her voice trembled as she spoke.

She was the adopted daughter of the Newell family. It just so happened that she looked a lot like the Newell family's cherished biological daughter, Winnie Newell. Knowing that Sheila was badly in need of money to cover the medical bills, Winnie had proposed that Sheila sleep with a man in exchange for a large sum of money.

The person inside the room was an ugly, fat director who had strange sexual proclivities. It was rumored that over a dozen young models had slept with him to further their careers, only to end up dead in bed.

At this moment, Sheila wanted more than anything to turn around and bolt as fast as she could. However, thinking about Ivan York's critical condition in the hospital, she knew she couldn't give up.

Sheila took a deep breath and finally plucked up the courage to open the door.

"Hello, is somebody- Ah!" Before she could finish her sentence, a hand suddenly reached out from behind the door and yanked her in.

Almost instantly, the strong scent of alcohol hit Sheila. She looked up nervously and found a tall figure standing in front of her in the darkness. Scared out of her wits, she momentarily forgot how to breathe.

Under the dim light, Sheila could only vaguely make out the man's cold eyes. However, she could clearly hear his heavy breathing.

Swallowing anxiously, she desperately tried to calm herself down.

Thinking of what was about to happen, Sheila said feebly, "Sir, this is my first time. Please... please be gentle."

The man tilted his head slightly to the side as though he found what she said interesting. Chuckling, his cold gaze softened a bit.

He raised his hand and rubbed the tip of Sheila's ear teasingly. His voice was low and hoarse. "Then why don't you do it by yourself?"

"Sir..." Sheila blushed, feeling both fearful and embarrassed.

The man who stared at Sheila stopped talking. Instead, he picked her up and threw her on the bed.

Then he climbed on top of her and started to kiss her collarbone and neck passionately.

Finally, he made his way up to her red lips and murmured, "This might hurt a little bit."

The stiff Sheila came to her senses and she started to struggle. "No, please..."

"Don't be afraid. I will take care of you."

The man could barely control his lust for Sheila. His voice was thick with desire, and before Sheila knew it, she felt something huge thrusting inside her body.

Silent tears rolled down Sheila's cheeks.

Thinking of Winnie's promise, she finally closed her eyes, bit her lip, and put up with it without protest.

After the whole ordeal, the man fell into a deep sleep.

Regardless of the pain, Sheila dragged herself out of bed and got dressed.

Just as she was about to leave, she gritted her teeth and stole a glance at the man on the bed. Nothing but a thin quilt covered the man's waist, exposing his well-defined muscles. And even Sheila had to admit that he had a handsome face.

Sheila couldn't help but feel a little surprised, but she didn't have the time to think too much about it. She turned around and quickly exited the room.

In the room adjacent to the one Sheila just left, Winnie was waiting impatiently for Sheila to come back.

"It's done. I did what you asked me to do. The money you promised me..." Sheila's voice trailed off. She didn't want to lose whatever semblance of dignity she had left.

Winnie looked up at Sheila and frowned in disgust. Finally, she threw a card on the ground contemptuously.

With a bitter smile, Sheila squatted down to pick up the card.

Suddenly, Winnie stepped on Sheila's hand in her red stilettos.

Her shrill voice rang in Sheila's ears. "Don't let anyone know what happened tonight or I will not save Ivan!"

Sheila bit her lower lip and endured the throbbing pain in her hand. Without saying a word, she nodded quietly.

After all, she too didn't want anyone to know that she had had sex for money.

Satisfied, Winnie withdrew her foot and walked towards the next door with her head held high.

--

It was almost dawn.

Gerald Lamont was awakened by the sound of running water. He had a terrible hangover and winced as he sat up in bed.

The memory of last night flooded into his mind. He narrowed his eyes and looked towards the bathroom coldly.

Was that woman in the bathroom?

With a cold expression on his face, Gerald got out of bed and strode to the bathroom.

The sound of running water suddenly stopped and the door swung open.

A woman wrapped in a bath towel stood in front of Gerald.

Chapter 2 The Missing Earring

Startled, the woman wrapped the bath towel around herself more tightly, looking shy and flustered.

She had just stepped out of the shower and her long, dark hair clung to her waist, her skin look dewy and smooth. Her face was as delicate as the woman in his memory, but her eyes were different. They seemed to be somewhat frivolous, unlike the timid eyes he had seen last night.

"Oh, you're awake," she said timidly.

Gerald nodded. His eyes wandered to her bare shoulders and neck. The red marks reminded him of what he had done last night. He had always been very reserved, but for some reason, he had completely lost control of himself last night.

Thinking about this, the hostility in his eyes faded away.

"I'll take responsibility for what happened last night. Allow me to arrange for someone to send you home later."

Hearing this, Winnie pretended to look flustered, but she was secretly ecstatic.

Although she had no idea why the man inside this hotel room was not the fat, disgusting director, she was delighted that the man turned out to be billionaire Gerald Lamont. All the women in Soulas could only dream of marrying him.

The second she saw this man's handsome face, Winnie knew she had hit the jackpot.

Moreover, the Lamont family controlled the economic lifeline of the city. If she could get Gerald's favor, she would live a carefree life forever.

Winnie masked her complacency with a look of obedience. She nodded humbly and said, "Okay."

Satisfied with her answer, Gerald stepped back and signaled her to get dressed.

Winnie was afraid that if she stayed any longer, she would give the show away, so she quickly got dressed and headed for the door.

But before she could escape, the man stopped her.

"Wait!"

Winnie's heart skipped a beat and all the color drained from her face.

Had he seen through her already?

Winnie stiffly turned around and forced a smile. "Mr. Lamont, is there anything else I can do for you?"

Gerald looked at her intently. "You haven't told me your name yet."

Winnie lowered her head and secretly breathed a sigh of relief. When she looked up again, her smile was genuine. "Winnie Newell from the Newell family in the north of the city."

After she left, Gerald stood up to take a shower, but something caught his eye.

It was sparkling under the sunshine that streamed in from the window.

Lying on the crumpled white bed sheet was a sapphire earring.

Gerald picked it up curiously.

Although the stone in the earring was cheap moissanite, its shape was unique. A hexagonal snowflake wrapped around the shiny blue gemstone, with the letter Y carved on it, simple and exquisite.

Although the earring was a little old, it looked well-kept. It could be seen that its owner had treasured it and had taken good care of it.

Its owner must've been the girl who had just left. Her eyes, which were as bright as stars in the night sky, appeared in his mind.

As Gerald studied the small earring in his hand, an unnoticeable smile tugged at the corners of his lips.

They would see each other soon.

-------

Sheila clambered out of the hotel and checked her phone. The hospital had sent her a message saying that Ivan's medical fees had been paid.

Only then did Sheila sigh with relief. She made her way back to the Newell family's house in lighter spirits.

While Winnie stayed in a luxurious room, Sheila's room was small and could barely accommodate one person.

In her third month with the Newell family, Winnie had ordered her to walk the dog.

But at the time, Sheila was only fifteen years old. She wasn't strong enough to control the huge Samoyed. In the end, the dog ran away, and when it was found, it was covered in blood by the roadside. It looked like it had been dead for a while.

As a result, Winnie hated her guts even more. She made a scene, accused Sheila of being a useless bitch and demanded that she get out of their house.

Due to Winnie's persistent request, her father, Enoch Newell, had no choice but to ask Sheila to move out of the big room and stay in this small one.

From then on, Sheila had taken the dead dog's place and had become Winnie's pet, whom Winnie bullied whenever Enoch wasn't looking.

Recalling the events of last night, Sheila shook her head and smiled bitterly, intending to scrub every inch of her body the man had touched.

Just as she was about to take off her clothes, Sheila suddenly realized that one of her earrings was missing.

Chapter 3 Look At Me

This pair of earrings was a gift from Ivan, whom she treated as her own younger brother. He had specially customized the earrings for her with his first salary as a painter. Engraved on the snowflake design were his initials.

When he gave her the earrings, Ivan looked very proud. He said that she was as pure and clean as snowflakes, which was why the design of the earrings suited her.

She felt sad that one of them went missing without her noticing. Sheila took off the remaining one and hid it in a box.

She was afraid that someone would connect the dots if they saw her wearing an earring that matched the one that had been left in the hotel.

The following day, Sheila woke up with a fever and didn't get up until later that afternoon.

As soon as she stepped foot inside the living room, Winnie, dressed elegantly, scolded her. "Why are you so late? Get dressed. You're going to the Hilton Hotel with us."

Sheila stared at Winnie blankly, not understanding what was happening. Noticing her confusion, Enoch explained with a smile, "The Lamont family has sent for us. They've invited our family to talk about the engagement between Winnie and Gerald Lamont."

The Lamont family was the richest and most powerful clan in Soulas, and Gerald was one of the sons of this family.

Since when had Winnie gotten together with him?

Before Sheila could figure it out, Winnie batted her eyelashes at her father like an innocent child. "Dad, why do you even bother to explain things to her? She's too dumb to understand. You go ahead with Mom. I'll ride with Sheila in another car."

When Enoch finally left, Winnie instantly dropped the act.

She turned around and looked at Sheila's delicate face. Suddenly and without warning, she raised her hand and slapped Sheila across the face.

"Why aren't you wearing your black-framed glasses? I'm warning you. If I see your suggestive eyes again, I'll gouge them out."

While the two young women looked similar, Sheila's eyes were like beautiful crescents. Whenever she smiled, she looked irresistible, and the mole at the corner of her eye added to her allure. In a word, she was much more beautiful than Winnie.

Therefore, Winnie had demanded that as long as the two of them showed up at the same place and time, Sheila had to cover her eyes.

Sheila cupped her swollen cheek in a daze. When she came to her senses, she pulled out the thick-framed glasses from her pocket and put them on, masking her beauty in an instant.

Winnie snorted with satisfaction, and went toward the car without another word.

When Sheila got in the car, Winnie leaned over and threatened in a low voice, "Be careful. The man you slept with last night is going to be my fiancé. Don't you dare expose the truth."

Sheila nodded. It turned out that the man she had slept with last night was Gerald Lamont, which left Sheila a little at a loss.

When they arrived at the hotel room, Winnie was about to fix her makeup when she realized that she had left her lipstick in the car. She hurriedly ordered Sheila to fetch it.

Sheila obeyed and rushed to the parking lot.

She was running so fast that she accidentally bumped into a man just as she rounded the corner of the corridor, and her glasses fell to the floor with a clatter.

Sheila yelped in surprise, covering her forehead with her hand. When she raised her head, her eyes met Gerald's.

She was stunned. It was him-the man from last night!

The scene from the previous night, which she deliberately tried to forget, instantly reared its ugly head in her mind and she recalled the pain in her body.

Her mind in a mess, Sheila started to tremble uncontrollably.

She seemed to fall into the fear of being fucked by the man at will last night.

Sheila pinched her thigh to calm herself down and immediately apologized to the man. "I'm sorry."

Then she lowered her head and pretended to look for her glasses.

Just when she thought she had gotten away with things, Gerald's low voice startled her.

"Look at me."
