What would happen when she learned the truth? Where would their story go?

Chapter 1 Her Career Took Off

Daria Ding was a little confused on the day she was transferred to the role of the CEO's secretary. After her graduation a few years ago, she had joined the WS Group, where she was employed as the secretary to the director of the business department. Now suddenly, she was directly promoted to the CEO's secretary. How could she not be thrown off by this sudden jump in designation?

On the way to her new desk, Daria Ding pestered Therese Zhuang, who was to hand over the work to her, like a newcomer.

"What does the CEO like? What are the dos and don'ts? Can you give me more details?" She was going to work right under the big boss's nose. If she goofed up, Daria Ding would be fired. She was understandably nervous and had a lot of questions.

Therese Zhuang stopped abruptly. Her large belly indicated that her due date was just around the corner. Frowning, she looked at Daria Ding up and down.

Daria Ding was dressed in the WS Group's uniform: a blue T-shirt teamed with a black knee-length skirt. She was tall and thin, and had an ordinary but delicate, oval face. Her only outstanding features were her big eyes, hidden behind a pair of thick glasses. Her long hair, which was neither permed nor dyed, was neatly tied up. Devoid of any makeup, she looked like a very average girl.

Therese Zhuang, too, felt that Daria Ding was an ordinary girl. Daria's performance wasn't extraordinary nor was her appearance or personality. If it hadn't been for the recommendation of Director Wang of the Secretary Department, Daria would have never even been a contender for this position.

"Just the same as when you served Mr. Liu," replied Therese Zhuang tersely.

Daria nodded eagerly. After hesitating for a while, she asked softly, "Will my salary increase?"

A trace of disgust flashed across Therese Zhuang's eyes. She turned around and continued to walk forward. "How would I know? The boss has the final say on the salary." Pointing at an area outside the CEO's office, Therese said, "Put your things there. This is your office from now on."

Daria nodded and walked towards the new space. Her office area was at a forty-five degrees angle to the CEO's office. In front of her was a semicircular marble table, on which there was a red telephone.

There was a desk less than thirty centimeters below the marble table, which was less than a meter in breadth. It was spick and span, with only a 24-inch LCD screen computer and some folders on it.

The chair under the table looked new and comfortable. The work environment here was certainly better than the business department. It looked like her career had taken off!

Daria wanted to ask more questions but when she raised her head, all she saw was Therese's receding figure.

Pursing her lips, Daria began to unpack her things in an orderly way. She wasn't too worried. No matter who she worked for, her job involved nothing more than sending out documents, running errands, and cleaning up the office. As long as she was focused and smart, she wouldn't make too many mistakes.

"Bang!"

Suddenly, there was a noise from the office. Daria stopped what she was doing. 'Didn't Therese say that Mr. Zhou wasn't in the office today?' she thought to herself. After hesitating for a while, she continued unpacking. Pulling out her cactus potted plant, she set it beside the computer.

"Plop! Plop!" More sounds emerged from the boss's office. Daria stood up and looked in the direction of the office. Was there a thief inside? 'Why, oh why do I have to encounter a challenging situation on my first day itself?' she thought grumpily. She decided to investigate the source of the sound, praying in her heart that it was nothing.

Taking a deep breath, she picked up the cactus and walked towards the door carefully.

"Knock, knock, knock!" She found that door was unlocked and it pushed open a little due to the knocking. A faint conversation was audible.

"Let go of me first!"

Chapter 2 Mr. Zhou Was Attacked

Was there really a burglar inside? Daria took a deep breath and opened the door tentatively. The office was about fifty square meters. When she peered inside, she saw a man and a woman standing on the red carpet in front of the desk, tussling with each other.

The woman was dressed in black sportswear and her ponytail was neatly combed. She obviously had the upper hand in the scuffle. The man only had a bath towel draped around his waist. It seemed that he had just stepped out of a shower. His wet hair was in the clutches of the woman, making him bend down. He looked embarrassed.

What happened? What were they fighting for?

The man held the woman's wrist, trying to get her to loosen her grip. "Let go of me first. If you have something to say, just calm down and say it!" he said patiently.

"I have nothing to say to you! You fooled me! Isn't that enough?" The woman was hysterical and she grabbed his hair again. The man struggled some more and said, "I didn't lie to you. Please listen to my explanation first."

This seemed to have agitated the woman more. "What else do you want to explain? Charles Zhou, you are a liar!"

Charles Zhou? The CEO of the WS Group, Daria's current boss, Mr. Zhou! Daria sprang into action. Grabbing the cactus, she rushed to the man like lightning. She asked anxiously, "Mr. Zhou, are you okay?"

The man gritted his teeth when he saw her approaching and said, "Why are you just standing there? Help me pull her away!"

Daria nodded. "Yes, yes, Mr. Zhou. I'll help you right away!" Although she was keen to help, she was no match for the enraged woman. Daria looked around anxiously. Suddenly she realized she still had the cactus in her hand.

Squeezing her eyes shut, she stabbed the woman's arm with all her might. The sound of the thorns piercing the skin seemed to freeze time.

"Shit!" Hearing a curse, Daria opened her eyes to survey the damage. The cactus was lodged right on Charles Zhou's head, who looked like he was about to cry. "Mr...Mr. Zhou..." she stuttered.

Daria was terrified at this point. It was her first day of promotion and she had injured the big boss. She was courting death.

Daria pulled the pot away quickly, but the cactus got uprooted and remained firmly attached to his head. Looking at the empty flowerpot in her hand, Daria swallowed hard and asked in a trembling voice, "Mr. Zhou, are you okay?"

"Who the hell are you? Why are you creating more trouble?" Charles Zhou asked, wincing with pain. Before he could say anything more, he turned over and fell to the ground.

"Ah!" Charles Zhou cried out in pain and pulled the cactus out of his head. Daria was anxious to help him, but was stopped by the woman's sharp eyes. "I'm warning you, mind your own business!"

The murderous look in the woman's eyes scared the daylights out of Daria. She faltered and took two steps back, not wanting to get herself into trouble. But she couldn't just stand there and do nothing!

Suddenly a light bulb flashed in her head! Daria dashed to her desk and called the security, "Hello? Security Department? Come up here quickly. Mr. Zhou was attacked!"

This was a matter of grave importance. The entire security department was in an uproar. The call was made from the CEO's office, so it couldn't be a prank.

After hanging up the phone, when Daria turned around, she saw that the woman had grabbed Charles Zhou again. Charles Zhou, a tall and powerful man, was like a puppet in her hands, unable to fight back.

That was when Daria remembered the rumor in the company that the CEO's girlfriend was a professional wrestler, who had participated in the Olympic Games. 'So this is a lovers' tiff?' she thought to herself. However, this lovers' tiff seemed to endanger her boss's life now.

Picking up the photo frame on the table as her weapon, Daria looked at the woman nervously. "I've called the security guards. You'd better calm down. If you have anything to say, just say it. Stop fighting!"

The woman still didn't let go of Charles Zhou's arm. With a pale face, the man said weakly, "Why did you call security..."

Before he could finish his words, the woman threw him on the ground again. "Thud!" Daria couldn't help but take a deep breath. It must have really hurt.

The woman looked at Daria and sneered, "Do you know why I did that to him?"

Chapter 3 Not Bad

Daria shook her head and said in a somber tone, "Irrespective of what kind of feud you have with Mr. Zhou, what you are doing goes too far!" What if the crazy woman gave him a concussion?

"What do you know?" The woman looked aggrieved, which didn't match her otherwise bold persona. "He has been in love with me for six months. But he hasn't even kissed me once!" she cried.

'Was it such a big deal if a man didn't kiss you when you two were in a relationship?' Daria pondered.

"Maybe Mr. Zhou is afraid..." Daria tried to think of excuses, but honestly, she couldn't understand why Charles didn't want to kiss such a beautiful woman.

"Why should he be afraid?" The woman looked at Charles sadly. "He didn't kiss me because he doesn't like women at all. The CEO of the WS Group is a gay!"

The door of the office was open and more than ten security guards had arrived at the entrance. The word 'gay' was still echoing in the air. Seeing the security guards, the woman grabbed Charles furiously. Charles, who was still dizzy from the fall, was shoved roughly again.

"Mr. Zhou!" Daria cried out and raced towards him. But in her haste, she tripped over the carpet.

As she tumbled, Daria reached out her hands instinctively and ended up grabbing the white bath towel around Charles's waist accidentally.

To everyone's astonishment, the towel instantly left Charles's waist as he careened into the brown leather sofa stark nude.

At the same time, more than 30 security guards had surrounded the office. They were all staring at Charles, who was lying on the sofa. It was a mortifying scene, especially for Charles.

Daria stared at the bath towel in her hand with her eyes wide open. She threw it away immediately and staggered toward the sofa. She realized she shouldn't have thrown the bath towel away but handed it back to her boss instead. When she saw the photo frame in her hand, Daria smartly used it to block Charles's private parts.

Daria breathed a sigh of relief. Without raising her head to look in his direction, she asked in a quivering voice, "Mr. Zhou, are you okay?" She was so screwed. She had committed such a scandalous mistake on the first day of her promotion. Would she have a future in this company anymore?

The security guards, who were in shock, came to their senses and surrounded the woman. The woman, however, didn't change her expression. She merely glanced at Charles and patted the dust off her shoulder. "Well, not bad," she commented in disdain. Then she pushed the crowd away and sauntered out.

'Not bad? What did she mean by that?' Daria thought, pushing her glasses up, when suddenly it dawned on her. Her face turned red in embarrassment. She wished the ground would open up and swallow her. Would the CEO fire her?

The security guards looked at each other in fear and embarrassment. A tense silence hung in the air. Daria held her breath. Raising her head cautiously, she caught a glimpse of the figure in the photo frame that was protecting her boss's modesty.

There was a young man in a gray T-shirt holding a woman in a colorful dress with a bright smile on his face. But why did the young man's face look so familiar? Daria was in a daze for a moment. She studied the photo frame and stepped forward for a closer look.

The security guards beside her gasped at her outrageous move.

Charles was livid! She was staring at his private parts as if in a trance. Daria suddenly stiffened and looked up at Charles's face subconsciously. Before she could meet his eyes, the man's roared above her head, "Have you seen enough? Then get the hell out of here! Get out!"
