"Oh my God Jake!, How could you do this to me?"
Erin gasped in stark disbelief, tears streaming down her face as she dropped the customized MacDonald's cup in her hand spilling ice cold coffee on the terrazzo floor. She slowly reversed backwards from the bedroom door and walked slowly like a Zombie towards the balcony, clenching her two hands to her mouth she turned around, walked slowly towards the balcony then leaned on the balcony wall and slowly slid down to sit on the floor, she suddenly bursts out crying. "Where am I supposed to start from? After 5 years of dating, how could Jake do this to me? After all my sacrifices and my contributions to this relationship! The heart of man is wicked."
She took back in her mucus that was supposed to slide down into her mouth and swallowed it. She let out a shrill scream, anyone around her would feel her pain. Jake came out of the balcony with his white briefs and an utterly disorderly buttoned Casablanca shirt. He bent over her. "Babe I'm sorry, it's not what you think it is, I honestly don't know what came over me."
Erin covered her ear and let out a huge scream. "Babe please I'm sorry, I don't even like your friend, I think she drugged me or something." Jake said passively, scratching his head. Erin held her fists tightly to her chest and let out another deafening scream and was panting like a dog that has ran a lot of miles. "Babe please it's not intentional, I said I'm sorry okay?" Jake had started crying now too.
Erin stood up abruptly and marched into the living room, carried a vase pot of flowers, she had gotten it for his 32nd birthday, she lifted it with one hand and marched forward like and angry bulldog into the balcony, she saw Jake staring into the sky, she threw the glass vase at the back of Jake's head. Erin didn't believe she was capable of exhibiting that degree of rage, she picked up his snooker stick or whatever he called it, swung it repeatedly, smashing his TV, pictures of them together hanging on the wall, flower vases and everything that could break. She went downstairs to where his car was, it was definitely her car too because half of her money went into the purchase of the car so he can never sue her for anything, she broke all the windows of the car and marched back into the house still panting and crying.
As she bent down to pick up her bag to leave, she saw her best friend Sara at the Balcony window putting ice on Jake's bleeding head, their body language suggested that they've been intimate for a while now, and their relationship did not start that day. She thought of evil things that she could do to her best friend at that moment but none came to mind, that was the worst day of Erin's Life, losing two people that she loved and trusted on the same day is the worst fate ever!
"I curse you Sara! You will never have a man of your own so far I'm still alive and breathing". Sara looked back and quickly adjusted her position away from Jake "Oh my God, She's still here." Sara whispered to Jake. "I will never ever forgive you Sara, for breaking my heart." She turned, took a last look at Jake's apartment because she was very sure she will never come back there again and ran outside. When she got into her car, she took some tissues, finally blew into it and threw it on the floor of Jake's compound, and zoomed off in her car like a mad dog.
It was evening, the sky went dark, Just like Erin's life. Sara has been hinting at two timing. She had always advised Erin to get a "backup boyfriend" just like all the other girlies that always had a main guy and a side guy, but she wasn't that kind of person and she trusted Jake very much. Apparently Jake was so good at cleaning up his tracks and was pretending to be loyal. He must have been cheating for a long time but Erin was too caught up in her emotions to see it. She definitely sees it now. Everything now made sense. The late nights, sneaky phone calls, the evasive excuses he gave for missed dates and his unavailability on weekends. She saw it all now.
They work in the same company. She considered leaving her job but leaving wasn't an option because she was well paid for the role. She also had her rent to think about. She had a year outstanding rent and was also looking to move to another apartment as good as her current apartment at this current price in New York City. That wasn't going to be easy.
She would have to put her emotions in check and face it like a real woman. Honestly, Erin could say she loved Sara more than she loved Jake. Sara was her best friend since preschool days, they also went to the same high school and university. They were more like sisters, they did everything together and she also got her current role at the company through Erin's help. How Sara managed to start hooking up with Jake was kind of hard for Erin to decipher. She was never going to trust anyone again in her life, she took two weeks off from work so as to get away from the drama. "Hello mum," Erin picked up her phone as her mom is the only friend she had left, "I'm coming to spend a week with you mom". She took a leave from work and went to spend time with her mother at the countryside.
Resuming to work was typical for Erin. Life goes on, She was now open to new relationships but she was not going to be putting her all into any relationship and it goes both ways for both genders. As she strutted in with her new Louboutin heels and her ash coloured pants, white shirt and her dupe Birkin bag which you won't notice if you look very fast. She had Red lipstick on which she has never used before and she also applied a little make up, truly, breakups really change people. She was looking really stunning, as she strutted in like a CEO, heads turned.
It was as if she was resuming there for the first time, as she walked past IT department which was Jake's unit, His friends quickly tapped him "Look! Jake look at your ex", and they drooled over her as she walked by as they have never seen her on makeup before, or wearing body accentuating clothes. Jake's heart beat very fast as she walked by. He had a feeling of regret but it was too late now. When she got to her own department which also doubles as her ex best friend's department everyone came up to her except her best friend. "Erin you look so beautiful." One of them said "You've transformed", "what happened to you Erin?" Questions kept pouring in for Erin. "I was just stressed so I had to take a little break." She rolled her eyes as she lied. The news probably hasn't gotten to the marketing department. Yet.
Erin's cubicle partner Piper moved near Erin's seat. "You missed a lot when you were gone, there was a lot of drama at the office, the management sacked our old manager for fraud and tax evasion. Some external auditors came and detected fraudulent activities, it looks like he's going to even serve a little jail time." She saw the expression on Erin's face. "I missed a lot about you too because Girl!, you look stunning, I never knew you knew how to apply makeup, you would have done my makeup for my sister's wedding." Piper giggled and continued ranting endlessly. Erin looked sad, she liked the old manager and he looked very calm and gentle, she never thought he would be capable of committing fraud. Piper continued talking despite Erin's disinterest.
"Talk to me Erin, I feel there's more to this, how did you transform in the space of two weeks?" It sounded suggestive, she must have heard about the breakup, there's no need hiding it from anyone, Piper was extremely loquacious she was going to find out anyway, there was no point protecting the image of her betrayal friend. "Let's talk at the tea room." Erin said as she stood up to go to the tea room, Piper followed her looking excited. They were already being chatty so as Erin entered the tea room, she bumped into a slightly tanned, tall, model looking with a well pointed nose.
He wore a white shirt with the sleeves rolled up and two of the buttons of his shirt was unhooked with light blue pants that were directly on his waist. He looked insanely handsome as if he has had some work done on his face but she found out later that it was merely genetics. As he was coming from the corner of the tea room, they bumped into each other. The coffee he was holding spilled on his white shirt, and Erin fell on him from the shock of suddenly seeing a stranger. He grabbed her by the waist since he was still holding his cup, and held her very closely to him. They stared at each other for a second and he released his hold on her. "Oh my God! I'm so sorry." Erin looked sorry as she used her white handkerchief to dust his shirt which made it worse. She felt sweaty, she didn't know what she felt in that millisecond.
He grabbed her wrist tightly, stopping her from cleaning his shirt. Shivers went down Erin's spine as he stared into her eyes, His eyes were an icy blue, he looked terrifyingly handsome and somewhat angry. He stared at her terrifyingly for like four seconds and finally let her hand go and walked off. Erin stared at him as he walked off.
"Oh my God! What was that chemistry between the both of you?" Piper said closing her mouth with her hand as she side eyed and smiled at Erin. "Now that's a bad way to start my week", Erin sighed in exhaustion. "I'm guessing that's our new manager because that's my first time of seeing him." They were in the tea room now. "You're right, that's our new manager. I guess we'll be more productive since our manager is so hot." Piper giggled as she teased Erin's shoulders with hers hence making Erin relaxed.
"He's handsome and hot no doubt, He even has blue eyes." Erin blushed as she was talking. "Shut up Erin, you have a boyfriend." Piper said maliciously. Erin rolled her eyes as she told Piper in full details the things that happened between her best friend and boyfriend two weeks ago. Piper opened her eyes in amazement at the news. "I know friends are wicked, but this is the height of it. I always knew she had eye for your man but I didn't know how to tell you." Piper said feeling sad on Erin's behalf then she quickly thought of something that could lighten the mood. "I also have some hot gist for you, that guy right there although he's just managing us right now I heard his father is a billionaire!" Erin rolled her eyes. "Hell nah! If he was a billionaire's son then he would have no business managing a small unit like ours, and even if he is truly then I'm done for, how will I explain that I just spilled hot coffee on a billionaire's son? I need to go and dust my resume."
"Erin said laughing and sipping her hot coffee. Piper chuckled. "He must really hate you right now. They continued talking for about 15 minutes before going back to their various workspaces. By the time they got to their workspace the manager had already had a change of shirt and pants. She tried to wave at him through the see through glass but he just stared at her blankly and continued his work.
"We need to talk". Sara wrote in the little stick on paper she passed to Erin's cubicle "We have nothing to talk about, I have forgiven you". Erin said out loud for Sara to hear. Tina looked around uneasy to check if anybody heard her. The office girlies looked at her with disdain, "They've probably heard." She thought as she recoiled into her cubicle.
"Please get me a new outfit." Jim sighed as he hung up the phone. What was that feeling? He could literally hear his heart beat at the moment he held her very close to his chest and wondered if the cute girl heard it too. "If she heard it that would have been so embarrassing." He thought silently. His personal assistant brought in the change of clothes and he changed his cloth immediately.
He couldn't concentrate on what he was doing on his laptop although he appeared to be, his mind kept drifting to the moment when their body was locked together and when the girl used her handkerchief to touch the lower part of his stomach which was pretty unexpected and as a result there was a huge bulge and uneasiness in his pants. It has been very long that he felt that way about a girl. Somehow he thought those cells died with his last heartbreak. The last time he had such feeling towards a lady was with his ex-girlfriend who later broke his heart and that was three years ago. He has been having flings and one night stands since then.
He started checking the company website to see details about the girl as he has never seen her before since he resumed to the unit two weeks ago. "Does she know who I am? Wow she'll be 29 this year, she's just one year older than me." He thought silently as he read all the details about her from top to bottom. He relaxed on his chair and rolled the chair into a 360 degree like a ten year old boy.
"I can't believe I'm thinking about a lady in the early hours of a Monday morning. He bent over towards his laptop. "I need to know more about this girl." He seemed flustered by this woman. "I wonder if she found me hot when I looked into her eyes, I hope she does not have a boyfriend." He suddenly smiled and shook his head, he missed chasing girls, they all flock around him easily with just a show of cash.
Jim liked girls a lot but something about this hazel eyed girl was different, she smelt like flowers, and is really petite and busty just how he likes it, there was something really unique about this girl and it definitely meant more than the bulging in his pants.
Someone knocked his office door, as he saw the person through the glass frame he adjusted his seat and relaxed back. "The girl is here, she even has courtesy." Jim thought within himself. "I'm so sorry about what happened today sir, it was not intentional, I'm truly sorry from the bottom of my heart." She said, looking really sorry. "Don't worry its fine." Jim said as he reclined in his chair.
"How are you going to make it up to me?" Erin smiled and said "So you're not angry anymore, you looked pretty mad earlier on.. "Oh its fine, shit happens, So what do u say, Dinner on Friday?" Jim said smiling not trying to lose any chance. "Bills on you!" He never even thought he would be asking her out so quick but opportunity comes but once. "Is he bipolar? He must definitely be a womanizer or it's just my lucky day." Erin thought. "Oh yes!" Erin blurted out after realizing she was spending a lot of time thinking of a response. "Alright Friday it is then. I'll make the arrangements and send you the details." Erin blushed as she walked out of his office "Is he falling for me?"
Friday came very fast. "You look so beautiful Erin", Jim said as he stood up to hug Erin and brought out a chair for her to sit. Erin blushed as she sat down in the five star restaurant, she has never been in such an exquisite restaurant all her life. Erin wore a long flowing halter neck red dress she ordered from Shein three years ago as there hadn't been any opportunity to wear it since she got it because throughout when she dated Jake they never went on any date. She also used her bright red mac lipstick and some Mary kay powder and foundation she was very intentional about looking beautiful. "I already placed an order for you as you were running late." Jim said enthusiastically, "Thank you so much." Erin said as she smiled.
The waiter brought in the full course meal and Erin ate enthusiastically yet gracefully. They discussed about various things and got to know each other better "I hope you're enjoying it?" Jim said as he wiped his mouth. "Of course I am, how did you discover this restaurant?, I've never heard of it before and the food is way too good." She said while licking her lips and shaking her head simultaneously as she savored the delicious taste of the food.
As she reached out to grab the tin of salt simultaneously, Jim also wanted to use the salt, as her soft hand grazed through Jim's strong yet subtle hands, the can of salt fell, she felt shivers on her spine and had goose bumps all over. "Oh my God I'm so sorry." she said as her cheeks turned red, she looked away as she didn't want him to see her blushing.
Jim on the other hand also felt shivers down his spine and then a huge bulge that refused to go down erupted in his trousers. "Please its fine, I don't need the salt anyway." She knew he was lying. "Okay thanks." The atmosphere became subtle after a while as they continued getting to know each other. They talked about their interests and hobbies, career goals and other random stuff. It was really wholesome for Erin, she never knew life could be that beautiful. It was like a scene from a movie, the restaurant looked dreamy. When it was time to leave Jim requested for the bill and paid it off. He held her waist as they walked towards the entrance of the restaurant. He dismissed his chauffeur and asked to take Erin home she obliged at first and then finally agreed.
When they got to Erin's apartment he parked the car. "I had a great time today Erin, I wish we could do this more often." He said as he slowly lowered his lazy eyes towards her lips back to her eyes then stared at her lips again, Erin had tingling sensations, she felt it was probably the wine because it has been so long she felt that good. He had finally managed to capture her heart with all the sweet talks they had earlier on.
She leaned towards him, placed her warm hands on his cheeks and kissed him starting from his lower lips, then proceeded to his tongue. She had never kissed a man that tasted so good and minty, she placed her arms round his neck and kissed him passionately again and slowly like her life depends on it, she was running through a lot of emotions. It definitely had to be the wine. She was still trying to figure whether she should stop when she felt suddenly felt cold hands on her breasts. They were jolted back to reality by a sudden noise the car made.
The car suddenly started to make noise which jolted both of them back to reality. Someone had hit the car from behind and ran away. She adjusted her dress and looked shy. "Omg! That was crazy." Jim said as he adjusted his collar too. "Yes, its crazy, I think it's the wine." She said as she adjusted her hair to the back of her ears shyly. "I should get going." He said as he came down from the car to open the door for her. "He's such a gentle man aww." She thought in her mind. Her ex never opened car doors for her.
He took her hand and walked her to the door kissed her forehead and said "Let's do this again Erin, I really enjoyed it. It's been a while I felt this way towards a woman." Erin blushed "I enjoyed the meal too and I had a great time." She opened her house door waved at him and stayed at the door until he walked back to his car and drove off. When he left Erin sighed brought out her phone and started going through her new crush Instagram page. "Romance is sweet." She said blushing as she remembered what happened back in the car. She saw pictures of his abs and she got those crazy shivers again. She closed Instagram and wished that he was not her manager at work.
