However, I don't take rules: unless, you're Mister Lazarus."

Chapter 1 HER MEMORIES

As I unlocked the door of my small rented space near the coast, a cricking noise echoed from the empty, white-painted apartment which I somewhat call "home". Raindrops are slowly leaking from my broken rusty roof, creating music with the metal cans and cauldron which I often use to stop the water from flooding a certain area of my place.

Messy as it is, several clothes that are left unwashed are scattered everywhere. Cat poops and dog's vomit also makes my whole house stink. I haven't been here for quite some time, and now it feels new to return empty-handed.

Dozed off from a heavy work load, I headed to my old room to change my clothes, hoping that there was still enough water to provide me with a nice long bath. I wasn't actually expecting much since I left with a several bill notice that I failed to pay.

To my surprise, a tall white man is sleeping in my bed.

I tried to be silent as much as possible, but when I accidentally touched the chair, it created a noise, causing "him" to wake up from his peaceful nap, I guess.

"Wow, you still have the guts to come back after leaving me in this state, Avi?!" My ex-fiancé vented his anger as soon as he recognized me. I playfully smiled at him, and I almost laughed in sarcasm when I heard his sigh. But my mind kept on asking how hard his life was when I decided to leave him before.

He looked so hilarious that I couldn't recognize him anymore. He had his beard grow and his hair is now longer than before. He also has tattoos on his arms and he's way too skinny, as if he hadn't eaten for months. "How are you? How did you enter my house?" Gladly, I still managed to act unbothered, even though I could hardly catch my breath while looking at his current condition.

"You bet." He wore his shirt and got up from the bed. His eyes stared at me, but later on, he left the room.

I just shrugged it off and placed my bag on the sofa.

"Have you eaten breakfast? I can make us one. Just wait here," I said, drawing him back so we could talk.

"Forget about it," he slouched. "Well, did you enjoy your new job? Did you earn enough money, which was the reason why you left me?" he asked sarcastically, but I made my way to the vase and replaced the withered flowers there.

"Wow, I didn't know you liked flowers now," he said, and I laughed awkwardly as he stared at me blankly.

"I'm tired, Rhys. Let's talk about this next time," I said while rubbing my left eye. I know that I initiated the conversation, but talking to a blind mind and ears right now will not help me in one way or another.

I thought that he would stop talking, but he once again opened his mouth. "You finally saw your way back here. Do you need me? Do you need a human bank account?" he claimed as if he was a big help to me in my early bad days, when I ran out of money and had no one by my side to fulfill the struggles I've been experiencing.

"Stop uttering senseless things, Rhys," I seriously said, and his mockery laugh rang in my ears. He continued staring at me that somehow makes me uncomfortable.

The man I loved before is long gone now. I can see it.

I can't hold a grasp of the old Rhys.

Not wanting to make pointless arguments, I headed to our almost forest-like kitchen and opened our five-year-old fridge.

"Got any beer? Tell me when you don't, and I'll order," I smiled bitterly and picked up every single piece of trash my eyes caught. I must be grateful that he is not saying a word right now, but instead, he is observing my actions and didn't bother to help me clean up this mess.

"Please bring the laundry basket," I asked, but he refused to do as I said. I was about to get it myself when he suddenly walked towards me with his eyes meeting mine.

"Why did you leave me, Avi?" he seriously asked, not taking his gaze away from me. "You know how miserable my life was, yet you still found the courage to cheat." I saw his tears slowly falling from his eyes. I couldn't help but turn my back on him and pretended to do something.

All I wanted was a good life and a good future to live in. But the fact that I inflicted deep pain on some of the people while asking for a better life, including Rhys, makes my guilt fire up and consume me.

When did dreaming become a regret?

"You..." I closed my eyes, hearing his cracked voice from my back. "You've been well while you're away, I know that. You left me hanging, you hurt me in the most painful way I could ever imagine..." his soft yet bitter laugh made me build up my tears from my eyes.

I faced him and met his eyes directly. "You're not the only one who suffered," I said, and I saw how his anger suddenly faded from his eyes. "I've been well, you say? I don't think so, Rhys." I shook my head, crouched, and reached for the chair.

He didn't move from where he was, and stood there for a couple of moments. I know for sure he's waiting for my explanations, but enlightening him will just cause so much pain again, for me.

He then looked at me with an empty face and from my gaze, I knew he was destroying me in his very big mind, yet I could still see the doubt in his eyes.

"Rhys, I've given up everything while trying my best to stay alive, so I could go back." Tears started to fall from our eyes. The silence that suddenly appeared was so loud that it made itself the most deafening noise that one could hear.

I closed my eyes as memories began to fall from the highest peak of the rocks down to the river, revealing its story without leaving out any details.

My story was about to begin when his words stunned me from where I was sitting.

"You worked on the bar, Avianna?"

I fixed the dress that my manager gave us just before the time of the event. It was a small bodycon top and bottoms wore by most strippers in the dance floors, it was my first day. I was left with no choice, but to accept this dirty job, I am now homeless and has nowhere to go. The agency offered me a space to live in, until the end of my contract. Aside from a free apartment to stay in, everything's free.

"Faster, girls!" the coordinator shouted in our dressing room. "The event will start any minute by now. Wear your pretty and sexy smile and bring lots of confidence!" he cheered that made all the girls in the room shout in fun.

"Good luck!" he added and left.

"Hey," a girl around my age who's wearing much shorter clothes than mine and a see-through one. "Are you new here?" she asked in a whispered yet calm manner, while fixing her hair in front of the mirror. But instead of answering her, my mouth kept itself shut, and that's when I heard her soft laugh.

"You don't have to be shy, I've been there, in your position. I'm Marrisa, I'm one of the VIP entertainers. And you are?" she asked again.

She looked at me as if she's scanning every little veins I have inside my body, while waiting for my response. "I'm Avianna. Y-you can call me Avi for short."

She nodded as a reply and took my lipsticks out of my pouch. "Pink? What, are you a seventeen year old teen or something?" Laughter filled the room but she hushed. "Let me fix your lips, I have a red one here. Don't settle for pink or you'll never have clients every night."

She left my place to get her stuff. She pulled me to a chair and fixed my hair. She even changed my make-up in the last minutes of our preparation.

"Let me guess, you haven't used any make-ups before, have you?" she asked and arched her back to reach for my face.

"No. Absolutely not," I answered and let out a soft giggle. I'm excited to see how I look, this feeling is new and a little strange for me. Although the blush, concealer, and stuff all over my face felt so heavy.

"You know, when I'm new here, fresh like daisies..." she started while putting an eyeshadow on my eyes, "I was so innocent like you. The thought of seeing my new look excites me."

She head to my back to fix my ponytail. "They'll be like, "don't put your hair on a tie, no ones gonna buy that," "stop making this shade of look, no one likes it," and so much more," she then curled my hair that compliments my face shape.

"Everything's so fine as long as you're young and naive," she whispered and turned the chair a hundred and eighty degrees holding both my shoulders, so I could see myself in the mirror.

"Do you like it?" she hopingly asked and smiled.

"I love it, Marrisa!" I exclaimed and hugged her to express how happy I am. She hugged me back and whispered.

"Glad, you love your new look." She fixed her things back to her make up kit and reached for my hand.

"Avi, if you need anything, you can call me here." She handed me her calling card and left. "Thank-"

Several claps rolled which stopped my words from coming out of my mouth. "We have about three hundred guests tonight! Luxury people and average ones," a man said and look at us one by one. "We will be hosting a bidding challenge out of ten girls here, of course it'll increase not just your profile, but also your salary." Everyone's keeping their eyes out as they hear the salary increase.

The coordinators announced the names who'll get bid and Marrisa was also there. "And for the last but not the least, our new gorgeous girl here, Avianna!" My ears clapped as soon as I hear my name and everyone's cheering for me.

"Sir, can't Avianna participate?" Marissa's tone is somehow worried and her eyes secretly looking at me, as if saying that I shouldn't go with it. "We can add Lily to the list. Avi is still newbie, after all," she asked.

"Why, did you enjoy babysitting now, Marissa?" A matured blonde women laughed. "Let her be, Mari. I'm sure, she'll like the additional payment, wouldn't you?" I nodded as a reply making the man smirked. As I met Marissa's eyes, I saw how she shook her head and lightly smiled at me.

"Let's head to the stage. No more noise, okay? Walk with a perfect poise, chin up, and smile!" Last reminder from the lead.

"I'm sorry," I mouthed to Marissa and she just understandingly nodded.

"This will be hard, but I know you can do this! Just imagine the money you'll get after this night? Awe, you can bath in cash, girl!" The blonde girl placed her hand on my shoulders.

"Don't you dare spread your wild venom to Avi, Shane," Marissa warned her that made us laugh.

"We're friends now, don't worry oldie," Shane teases Mari, they're like siblings, to be honest.

"Let's just be positive, okay? I hope you'll get a handsome rich bidder!" Marissa said and tapped my back, "Smile, pretty lady."

Climbing up the stairs, I can tell how crowded the room already is. I even feel how hefty the atmosphere as soon as I stepped closer behind the red curtains that separates the backstage from the lodge. There, I took a peek outside and saw a group of high class people drinking champagne and throwing money through the dance floor.

It was an off scene for an ignorant lady like me, but an ordinary day for the majority of us.

"Bidding starts at 500 dollars, who's up for Marrisa?" The host of the bidding challenge aforesaid, while Mari standing confidently in the middle of the podium. Crowd of men fights to get her but one won, about a 35 year-old man who bid for twenty four million dollars.

Without a further skip, they put Shane in the middle and start another bidding again.

"Who's up for a great night? Worth starts at 500 dollars!" The crowd start cheering and loud noises filled the whole place that almost break my ear drums. One won the challenge without letting anyone try, he bids twenty five million dollars, then the game stopped immediately. He's a 6'0 footer, I guess. And base on his look, he's around Shane's age, lucky her.

"Up next! Avianna, come here," the host called my name and look at me furiously, as if he'll bite the hell out of me if I'll refuse to do as he say. The girls behind me are also pushing me so hard, I had no choice, but to go. "Avianna, a newly recruit. Who's up? One thousand dollars to start!" Loud shout of men almost giving their cards climax has occupied me.

"One hundred million dollars, take it or leave it!" a man of my mother's age claimed that he's the last bidder and that he can take me home with his money. I almost slapped myself knowing that my face is uttering disgust.

But another one took a higher amount of money, that almost weakened my knees.

"Two hundred million dollars," a cold voice from the crown calmly yet loudly said. He's tall, that I would look like a midget beside him. He has an ocean blue eyes, and masculinity shouts in his posture.

No one dared to give another offer and defat his price. Confusion swallowed me when I saw how people acted as if they are afraid of him. He won me and the agency assured that he can take me wherever he want as long as it'll only consume twenty four hours as stated in the protocols of the management.

"Will I ever get to see her again here in this bar?" the buyer asked and steal a short glance at me.

"Of course. You can also rent her again anytime if it's convenient for you," my manager ensure him and we ride his car.

"Avianna, right?" He broke the silence.

I hesitantly nodded before answering. "Yes. Avi for short."

He smirked and gave me his jacket. "Put this on your lap, I hate to see your legs. I might do something terrible right at this moment."

Too flattered, I declined the offer. "Let's be honest here, Mister," my playful side started to reveal itself. "You wouldn't spend that kind of amount just to stare at me the whole time." His brows wrinkled while focusing on the road.

I heard his amused laugh as if I uttered a joke. "No. Just not here." His eyes darken as if he's already planning of what he should do to me.

I slowly reached for the door's handle, checking if I could escape when the traffic's bad. It was a relief that the door's open and the scenery's mesmerizing to cover up for my plan.

But what he said made me shiver and stunned right in my seat.

"Don't ever think about it, Avianna. I could've pushed you right now while my car's moving," he coldly mumbled and met my eyes without any expression.

"Women like you... are not hard to read, after all."

Chapter 3 FRIENDS

"So, how was the experience, Avi?" Marissa asked as soon as I entered the room. I was literally shocked when I saw her inside, to be honest.

She carried my back all the way in the small living room and excitedly came back wearing her biggest smile, I think.

She and Shane exchanged rooms with my former roommates, so we could have a bonding, according to them. They placed a square shaped dining table in the small kitchen, a small fridge enough to store our foods and water, a red tulips in a glass vase above the closets and a bed for three.

"Look, first experience is the best!" Shane talked like she had multiple times in bed already. "I wouldn't be surprised if you won't tell us. You must compare them to your second experience and then to the third and then to the fourth and until infinity!" She laughed so hard almost removing my ear wax!

"We didn't do that thing," I said and yawned. Both of their faces draw confusion yet intriguing.

"But you're sleepy. What, you guys stay up all night watching movies or talking about..." Marrisa threw her pillow on Shane and giggled.

"Let's just say, our Avi's afraid to tell us how her first night went." Shane screamed and run around the unit trying to catch Marrisa.

"I swear to God I need to sleep, you wench!" They just continue picking on each other and shout out loud.

But I guess this is better now, I won't be alone.

Trying to remember everything, I can't seem to see what I did last night. I can still smell his body scent in my t-shirt and I can felt his warm body embracing mine. It was an epic fail, since I drank too much wine drawing me into this awful state. What did I do to forget everything after the car incident?!

"...No. Just not here..."

"...Don't ever think about it, Avianna. I could've pushed you right now while my car's moving..."

"...Women like you, are not hard to read, after all..."

Shit! Why do I feel so embarrassed right now?

I shouldn't be thinking like this, it's not like we'll meet again. I know he won't come in the bar that often since he's a busy person, uh... I supposed.

And looking at him made me realize how far of a poor person I am, he must've been turned off, if ever I made some stupidity while I'm drunk.

So I guess, I'll be fine? Or not?

"What's our princess thinking?" An image of my Mom appeared in my eyes.

"Nothing, Mom!" I pulled every hair I can pull while still thinking the 'what did I do' questions.

"Dude, our Avi became delusional after her first try. I've lost my womanhood before too, but I didn't talk to myself alone," Shane teased me and Mari's laughing like I'm a living idiot.

"Bitches, stop. I'm trying to remember what I did last night in that man's lounge." They look at me with their widened eyes and eyebrows almost meeting at the center.

And then, I heard both of them laughed, again...

"You don't know his name?!" Mari asked surprisingly, and teasingly at the same time.

"I guess? Or maybe I know, but I forgot." Shane acted like she's praying and then I almost lose my sanity when I heard what she mumbled.

"Please bring her memories back, she must've suffered from short-term memory lost after losing her virginity..." She continue mumbling the same line over and over again, so I kicked her, but instead of showing hurt, she laughed again like a child being drowned with tickle.

"Cut it Shane, I'm not fooling around."

"You slut, why didn't you asked for his name? It's the only way to meet him again. Who knows, he'll be your full-time sugar daddy or your soulmate, duh," Mari uttered and clicked my forehead. I stood up and walk around.

"Yeah, I know! I look so miserable because of my stupidity." Shane just laughed out loud and whispered in the air.

"If idiocy is a person, that'll be you, Avianna." She then, went to our kitchen trying to cook for our lunch.

"Oh, speaking of lunch, my daddy booked me a date later," Shane winked. "We'll be meeting on a five-star hotel, what do you think?" She put her long thick hair into a bun.

"I guess it's fine," Mari commented as Shane continues to fix her hair. Marissa, on the other hand, is checking her phone.

I sat and watched them. "Why you guys are so lucky?" I asked and they just smirked evilly to me.

"Maybe because we're not a dummy!" Hoots of laughter again. I just shook my head and rest for a while.

While browsing the internet, I saw several companies that are hiring call-center agents. The salary are pretty good for an average life and I also showed it to the girls. I'm planning to apply as one as soon as my contract ends but I think, my profile will affect my resume very soon.

"A prostitute of Caleille Bar applied as a call center agent in a high class company, pretty catchy!" Shane jokingly said but I didn't buy it.

"Catchy my ass, Shane. I won't be here forever, so I had to find new jobs for a back-up plan. Besides, who knows if I'll be in trouble while I'm staying here?" They look so concerned and gave me an assurance.

"We got your back girl, you don't have to worry."

Looking at this, I feel so blessed by finding a good friends at this hell place. Just Shane, Marrisa, and me, eating all together without any judgement. I hope we stay like this for long.

"Don't look at me like that. I'm afraid to melt, Avi," Shane said and jam-packed her mouth with foods. She's still pretty even in this times, I wish to be like her all the time.

"I'm just curious, do you think Avi's mister first night is worth the find?" Mari asked out of nowhere. I decided to find him to finally give my formal thanks for the money he spent just to bid me.

It helped me so much with my current expenses and it put my mind at ease knowing that I still have lots of money to use whenever I want or buy something or simply treat these hot girls out for a friendly date.

"Hmm, that won't be a bad thing, I think? I can ask the managers and coordinators in the bar for his name. We can't let Avi die in embarrassment and stress," Shane said while giggling and reached for her phone.

"Let me answer this first," Mari and I nodded as we saw her walked out of the kitchen.

"That's her sugar daddy, I bet!" Marrisa offered. I smiled in amusement and accept her fight.

"Okay. I bet, not her sugar daddy, one hundred dollars." I replied but she rejected. "Two hundred dollars, final."

Walking past us, Shane seemed to be not fine. "Hey, is that your daddy?" Mari asked but Shane shook his head off and dig on her plate. "Tss, here's your two hundred dollar, Avi." She rolled her eyes out and handed me her money from her wallet.

"Are you alright?" I asked but I was stunned when she cried and hurriedly hugged me.

"Mr. Wayne's dead!" She screamed out of frustration and Marrisa came to hug her from the back.

"Who's Wayne?" I mouthed to Mari and widened my eyes when I understand what she mouthed back to me.

"He's the one I'm talking about, her daddy."
