Andrea POV:
"I think you know why I called you here" my dad said, as I entered his office.
"No, I actually don't know why you called me father" I said.
"Well, as you know you're twenty-four and the most powerful and feared mafia leader, and you're still not married yet. I want you to get married as soon as possible and to give me an heir, so you can continue our family's name" my dad explained.
"I told you, I don't want to get married!" I shouted.
"You have to, and you will do as I say, because I am your father!" he shouted, slamming his hands on his table, making me slightly flinch.
"Of course, father. Now may I leave?" I asked, trying to calm him down, best i could.
"Yes, you may leave, and I want you to bring me a girl to marry in less than a week" he said, as I walked out
As you can see, I always have to listen to my father, whether I like it or not, even though I want nothing to do with marriage, because marriage in my eyes is just a waste of time, like how do you swear your love to your partner by a few vows at your wedding day. I don't believe in love either, but I have my father to blame for that, he always treated me and my mother horribly, he would force to train me till I would feel like I was about to collapse, because to him men, never stop fighting and training, because men aren't as weak as women, which I don't agree.
Maybe that's why mum left his poor ass, she couldn't put up with his bullshit anymore, so she left me with that motherfucker, which I'll never forgive her for it, because he treated me like shit all my life.
I was on my way to my own office, when one of my men came up to me.
"What is it?" I asked him, frustrated of all the shit that's already happened today.
"We got him!" he said, with a stern face.
"What? About fucking time!" I shouted, making my way to the basement. I turned on the light, to see a man in his mid-fifties tied to a chair, he looks pretty beaten up, and may I add drunk as fuck.
"Wake up, asshole!" I shouted, slapping him across the face.
"Where the hell am I?" he asked, half-drunk.
"Where's the five thousand you owe me?" I shouted, making him flinch from my sharp tone.
"I um, give me some more time and I'll get it, I swear!" he said.
"Why should I trust you? You told me that twice already, so why should I trust you now? I should just kill you!" I said, pulling my gun out.
"Wait, wait!" he shouted.
"I'm sorry, are you begging now?" I said, with a smirk growing across my face.
"Yes, I'll give you anything you want, just don't kill me!" he begged.
"And what can you give me?" I asked, still holding my gun up to his head.
"Boss, he has a daughter around your age, what if you pay him for her to marry you?" he said.
"Oh, you have a daughter?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Yes, not that I care or anything" he said, rolling his
eyes.
"What?" I asked, not sure of what he said.
"Nothing, I'll give you my daughter for fifty thousand!" he said.
"Deal!" I said.
"Now let me go!" he demanded.
"Don't you dare raise your voice at me!" I said, punching him. "Untie him and let him go. I want your daughter here tomorrow!"
Elena POV:
I woke up to the bright light coming in from my window, I groaned at the new day I just woke up to.
I got out of bed and headed to the bathroom. I washed my face, from my fresh bruises. I cleaned the cuts on my wrists and walked into the shower.
As I felt the warm water on my tense muscles, I sort of calmed down. I took a deep breath in and excepted the fact that I had woken up to a new day.
What is even the point of my life anymore? I mean my mother died when I was only three, which lead to my dad drinking and doing drugs. He started abusing me at the age of five, I fell into depression at the age of fourteen, and I started cutting myself and I'm now twenty-one and I never stopped doing so, my dad still comes home drunk every night and when I try to help him, he just hits me and blames me for everything that happened to him and mum, I have to work two jobs because my dad won't go to work, so I have to pay for the bills myself. I honestly don't know why I haven't moved out of here yet. Could be because I'm too kind for my own good, and it would hurt me to leave him here all alone to fend for himself. Sometimes being too kind could turn into a weakness.
I stepped out of the shower and wrapped a towel around me. I quickly changed and headed downstairs to find my dad bruised on the couch.
"Dad, what happened?" I asked, worriedly.
I ran up to him trying to get him off the couch to heal his wounds, but when I helped him up, he grabbed my wrist which made me wince in pain, because of my cuts and he started dragging me out of the house.
"W-wait, where are we going?" I asked. I tried to get myself free from his grasp, but he was holding on too tight.
"No questions, now come on!" he shouted, not looking back at me.
"Can you at least let go of my wrists, you're hurting me!" I pleaded.
"Deal with it!" he shouted. In about ten minutes we made it to a huge mansion.
"Where are we?" I asked again, hoping to get an answer this time. He just ignored me and rang the doorbell. A tall man, with blonde hair and hazel eyes opened the door.
"Come on in, and follow me, they're already waiting for you inside." He said, as we followed him inside.
Andrea POV:
I was waiting for this girl to arrive in my dad's office; there was only my dad and I in there. I honestly had no idea of her name, what she looked like or if she was a bitch. I had my back turned to the door when the door swung open.
"Boss, she's here" Macro said, standing at the door.
I turned around to see the man holding onto his daughter's wrists. She looked so fragile; she had bruises on her face for some reason. She had long black wavy hair that fell on her shoulders; and beautiful emerald green eyes, she wore a white tank top with a grey pull over and denim shorts. I must say I wasn't expecting her to look this beautiful.
"Dad, where are we?" the girl asked her father, with fear in her eyes.
"Shut up will you!" her father shouted. Why does he treat her that way? It kind of reminded me of how my father treated me when I was younger.
"Come with me miss" I said, grabbing her from her
arm.
"Wait, where am I? And who are you?" she asked, with terror in her eyes.
"Calm down, I'm not going to hurt you, I just want to talk to you" I replied, as I led her to my room, I closed the door behind us and let go of her hand.
Elena POV:
Who is this guy? And what does he want with me?
He looked extremely good-looking though, he had dark brown curly hair and beautiful ocean blue eyes that you could get lost in. He wore a black buttoned up shirt, with white jeans. He had tattoos all over his arms. He looked dark and mysterious, like he doesn't care what people think of him.
"What do you want?" I asked, looking for an
answer.
"My name is Andrea Enzo, and you probably know me, I'm the most feared and powerful mafia leader in all mafia kingdoms. Now your turn, introduce yourself" he said.
"I um, I don't actually know who you are, and why should I tell you about myself? I don't even know you, so why should I trust you?" I asked, afraid of what he might answer with.
"Listen girl, I'm trying my best to act nice towards you, because I'm usually a dick towards other people. So, speak!" he shouted.
He started walking towards me, I tried to walk backwards but my back slammed against the door.
And his hands slammed on the door, making our faces only a few inches apart.
"P-personal space!" I stuttered, pushing him away.
"My name is Elena Tommaso, I'm from France and I'm twenty-one. I moved to Italy with my father when my mother died, at the age of three." I said.
"See, was that so hard?" he asked, crossing his arms over his chest.
"No, I just uh, I want to know why I'm here" I said.
"You're here, because we're getting married" he said.
"What?" I shouted, in disbelief.
"What?" he asked.
"I will not marry you!" I shouted.
"Why?"
I couldn't tell him because I didn't believe in love, because my father broke me so much that made me no longer believe in love, because love doesn't exist in this cruel world, at least not for me.
"Listen, I don't want to marry you either, but I have to because I need an heir or else our family's name will end with me!" he said.
"An heir? I have to give you a baby?" I yelled.
"Yes, you do. Now you'll be sleeping in here with me because if we're going to get married, we need to get used to each other. My men will move your stuff in here. And let me make it clear with you, you are to never leave without my permission!
Understand?" he shouted.
"Y-yes" I stuttered, as he left the room.
I have to marry this guy, and give him a baby? I just met him, and I can barely take care of myself, I'm still dealing with depression and self-harm, and now I find out that I have to marry a mafia boss!?
Can my life get any worse!? This is all his fault; this is all my father's fault. He's the one who made my life a living hell.
I ran out of the room, even though I was told not to, I ran back the way I came from, to see my dad about to leave. Dante was here, and so was the guy with blonde hair who let us in, and the other man from the office.
"You monster!" I shouted. Everyone turned to look
at me.
"I thought I told you to stay in my room!" Andrea said.
"I hate you!" I shouted, running up to my dad, with tears in my eyes.
"Oh, don't hate me, hate yourself, you're the reason your mother died and you're the reason I stole from this guy and you're also the reason he was going to kill me. So, blame everything that happened to you on yourself!" he shouted.
"Blame myself? BLAME MYSELF? So, I'm supposed to blame myself for you coming home drunk every night, for every bruise you gave me, for the two jobs that I had to work because your drunk ass couldn't get up and go and get a job. AM I?" I shouted. Everyone was shocked about what I just admitted to.
"Shut up, you bitch!" my dad yelled, slapping me hard across the face.
When he slapped me, I saw a tall figure in front of me, and he punched my dad in the face. It was Andrea.
"Andrea!" a man shouted.
"LEAVE! Or I'll put a bullet in between your fucking eyes!" Andrea shouted. My dad stayed silent and quickly ran out the door.
"Are you okay?" Andrea asked me.
Andrea POV:
Are you okay?" I asked.
She looked mad, but had tears running down her face. She didn't respond to my question, she just stared into my eyes, her eyes looked so broken, she tried not to show it, but I knew what broken eyes looked like and hers were just that.
"Elena!" I called out to her. No response again. I put my hands on her shoulder, and looked into her eyes, just as she was doing, everyone stared, but didn't talk.
"Elena, your father is gone now, you're safe here. I won't let anyone hurt you again, I promise" I said with sympathy in my voice.
I wanted her to feel safe with me, I wanted her to trust me. This isn't something I usually do, but I see myself in her so much, that I don't want her to go through the things I went through because of my father. Suddenly, I felt her arms wrap around my neck, she was hugging me and sobbing silently. I hugged her back, and I didn't really care about all the other people in the room, all I wanted to do in that moment was to make her feel safe.
"I-thank you" she stuttered, pulling back from the
hug.
"You should get some sleep; you must be very tired" I said. She just nodded her head in response.
"Come on then" I said, grabbing her arm gently and walking her back to my room. I put her to bed, and she immediately fell asleep, I slipped the sheets over her and left the room.
When I walked out of the room, I was met by my most trusted man, Marco. I have known him since we were kids, we basically grew up together, we're like brothers. That's why I put him second in command.
"Your father wants to talk to you" he said.
"Great, what about?" I asked, displeased.
"I don't know, but I'm guessing about what you did earlier" he said.
"Oh god, I'll go talk to him" I said.
I walked off to my father's office. I was honestly ready for anything that he was going to tell me, I was even ready for him to punch me or something.
I got to his office, and opened the door slowly and walked in.
"You wanted to talk to me" I said, standing in the doorway.
"Yes, I do actually" he said, flipping through papers on his desk, his eyes never leaving the papers.
"What about?" I asked, walking over to his desk.
"I think you know why Andrea!" he said, raising his voice.
"I don't actually" I said, even though Macro already did give me some hints on what he was going to talk to me about.
"What were you thinking, punching Elena's father!?" he shouted.
This time his eyes met mine, but I wasn't glad they did. His eyes showed pure anger and rage, like he could kill anyone in a second.
"You heard what Elena said, what he did to her!" I said.
"So? What if she's lying about it? And even if she was, you had no reason to punch her father!" he said, looking back at his papers.
"He fucking slapped her!" I shouted.
"Don't you dare raise your voice at me son!" he yelled, slamming his hands on his desk, and standing up in the process.
"Was I supposed to stand around and watch him slap her?" I said. He sat back down on his chair.
"Have you already grown fond of her?" he asked, jotting something down on a paper.
"What?" I asked, blinking my eyes a few times.
"You never promise random people anything, except if those people are your family or closest friends, so what is going on?" he asked.
"Because she isn't a random person. She's going to be my wife in a few months. I have to make her trust me!" I said.
"So, all you said there wasn't true? All you said to her was just an act to make her trust you?" he asked, staring at me.
"No, I meant every word of what I told her. Now if you'll excuse me, I have work to do!" I said.
"Fine, you may leave. Oh, and Aurora is coming back from New York tomorrow" he said, as I walked to the door. I probably heard him wrong, so I kept walking and exited his office.
Why would Aurora be coming back to Italy? She said she was staying in New York for a year. I mean I didn't really care if she was coming back or not. I made my way to my office and get some work done, because I have some shipments with drugs and weapons coming in tomorrow morning. Fuck! I forgot to tell Macro to get some men to go and get the shipments. I'll call him and tell him he couldn't possibly be asleep right now. Knowing him, he's probably working out. I headed to my office and sat down in my chair, as I got my phone out to call Marco.
"Hello?" he answered.
"Hey, can you get some men to go and get the shipments tomorrow morning, they're supposed to arrive at five in the morning" I said.
"Yeah, sure and I'll go with them to make sure they don't fuck anything up" he said.
"And this is exactly why you're my best and most trusted man and my consigliere" I said, with a chuckle.
"Hmm, well buona notte capo" he said, hanging up.
(Good night, boss)
I got back to work so I could finish and go to sleep.
My eyes start closing, but I fought the urge to close them and fall asleep. It was now like one in the morning, and I had just finished all my work, I left my office and headed to my room. I walked into my room to find Elena sleeping peacefully on my bed. I had almost forgotten about her, because of how tired I was. I made my way to my walk-in closet and changed, I took my shirt off, and stayed in grey sweatpants. I made my way to bed and slipped under the covers and fell asleep.
Elena POV:
I woke up to the warm heat of the sun on my face, I had almost forgotten that I was now in a mafia boss's room, the huge room, made me remember everything immediately, I remember the marriage I was sold off to by my father, of how I screamed at my father, and how Andrea protected me from him, and how he promised me that he won't let anyone hurt me. But was he telling the truth? Did he actually mean what he said?
I quickly stopped thinking about what had happened yesterday and made my way to the bathroom. The bathroom was huge as well, it had a long unit, with a sink and mirror and a shower opposite of the sink, and a fancy bath at the end of the room, and a toilet beside the tall unit. I decided to take a hot shower, so I could forget everything that happened yesterday. I walked in the shower and turned the hot water on, I let the water fall and didn't do anything other than stand there. I mean, I get one good thing out of this. I don't have to get beaten by my dad anymore or have to deal with his drunk self anymore or have to work two jobs anymore. But the thing is when I walked in this place, I haven't even seen the face of a girl, all I saw were men. I have to spend the rest of my life with men, great.
I made my way downstairs, but I had no idea where anything was, I was only in Andrea room, so I have no clue where other places are in this place, and this place is massive. I started walking down the long corridor and when I made it to the end of the corridor, I was met by two huge double doors. I decided to open them and see what was inside. I slowly walked in, and everyone that was there turned to look at me. Oh no, I don't think I should be in here. This place looked like a training area, they use to train in. I was shocked and standing
still that I didn't notice someone coming up to me.
"Hey" he said, with a huge grin on his face.
"Ah, Connard!" I shouted, stepping on his foot. He winced in pain and jumped back. (asshole)
"Che diavolo donna?" he shouted. He spoke in Italian, so I had no idea what he said.
"Hey, what does that mean?" I said, offended.
"It means 'what the hell, woman?" someone said, walking up to us.
I turned my head to see Andrea. Oh my god he looked amazing. He was shirtless and had abs, and tattoos all over his chest, and his messy hair made him look even better.
"Ah! Put a shirt on!" I screamed, covering my eyes.
I just heard both men chuckle.
"Am I the first guy, you've ever seen shirtless?"
Andrea asked, with another chuckle.
"Y-yeah" I stuttered, as my cheeks flushed red.
"You're joking right?" Andrea asked.
"No, I've never had a boyfriend before!" I replied.
"I really wasn't expecting her to say that" the other guy said.
"Who even are you?" I asked the other guy.
"My name is Macro, and you must be Ella, Andera's wife" he said.
"W-what? We still haven't got to that point!" I said, as my cheeks flushed red.
"Can you please turn around; I don't want to talk to your back!" Andera said.
"I um, need the bathroom!" I said, running out of the room.
I somehow made my way to a living room, it had two huge couches on both sides of the room, and a drinking bar at the end, and there were huge glass doors leading outside. I took a seat on the couch
and tried to erase what I just saw from my memory.
"Andrea!" someone screamed running in the living room.
Who's she? I'm kind of glad it's a girl though, I can't deal with seeing another guy honestly. I stood up from the couch and faced her. She was so beautiful, she had brown wavy hair and hazel eyes, she wore a cute pink top tucked into a white skirt, and she wore pink boots.
"Who are you?" she asked, with a confused look on her face. "And what happened to your poor face?"
"Hi, my name's Elena. Who are you?" I asked.
"I'm Aurora, and I'looking for Andera, he's usually here drinking his sorrows away at the bar." she said.
"W-what? Why are you looking for him?" I asked.
"I need to talk to him, and what are you doing here?" she asked.
"This may sound weird but I'm marrying Andrea" I said.
"WHAT?" she screamed.
With that scream, I got taken aback. Who is this girl? Could she be his girlfriend, and that he's playing both of us? I could see her leave all her luggage there and ran off.
"Wait, where are you going?" I shouted.
I made the decision to run after her and follow her.
She ran to the room I was in just a few minutes ago. How did she know where Andrea is? She ran in charging at Andrea, and I ran after her.
"Andrea Enzo!" she screamed at the top of her lungs. Dante turned his head and saw us both, I blushed again at the sight of his bare chest.
"Che cazzo vuoi?" Andrea shouted, turning his full attention on the girl.
"What does that mean?" I asked Macro.
"It means 'what the fuck do you want'" he replied.
"Thank you, who is this girl anyways?" I asked.
"You're about to find out" he replied.
"You're getting married and didn't think to tell me?" she shouted.
"Aurora calm the fuck down!" Andrea shouted.
"I will, if you would tell me why you didn't tell me that you got engaged!" she shouted.
"Father made me do it!" he shouted, making her silent.
"W-what? So, you don't actually want to marry her?" she asked.
"W-what?" Andrea asked.
"So, you're basically being forced to marry her?"
Aurora asked.
"No, I chose to marry her" Andrea replied.
"What do you mean? I'm confused" Aurora said.
"Dad wanted me to choose a bride to marry to continue our family's name and I chose her. Now can you please leave?" Andrea tried to ask nicely.
"Stronzo!" she shouted.
"What does that mean?" I asked Macro.
"It means asshole. Now can you please stop shouting!" Macro shouted, walking up to them. I still had no idea who this girl is, whether she was his friend, or girlfriend.
"Macro you do realise I'm your boss, and you don't demand me to do things" Andre said, turning his attention to Macro.
"Well, your shouting was giving me a headache.
And I'm sure Elena is confused about who this girl is"
Macro said. And he was right, I was very confused. I walked closer to them.
"Who are you?" I asked.
"My name Aurora, and this is my older brother Andrea." She replied, with a cute smile.
Oh, I was so wrong. This isn't his girlfriend; this is his younger sister. I mean I didn't really care if she was because if she was his girlfriend, I wouldn't have to marry this guy and it would make my life a whole lot simpler.
"Oh, nice to meet you, I'm Elena" I said, handing out my hand for her to shake as a kind gesture. Instead of shaking my hand, she pulled me into a tight hug.
I was shocked at her hug, but I hugged her back.
"I haven't seen a girl here in ages!" she shrieked.
"Seriously?" I asked, shocked and in disbelief of what she just said.
"Yeah, I'm so happy to see a girl here. Oh, we're going to best friends, we're going to go shopping, go to a spa day together, go to the cinema. Ah, I can't wait!" she rambled.
"Aurora, you're scaring her!" Andrea said, sharply.
"I'm sorry, I just- I'm too excited" she said.
"It's fine, I'm happy to see a girl too actually, I thought I was going to have to live with only men for the rest of my life" I said, with a laugh.
"I know. But trust me you'll get used to it, I mean I did, unfortunately" she said.
"Hey, I'm not that bad!" Macro said, in defence.
"You're not, you're the only guy I like after my brother" she said.
"What?" Andrea asked. I think we all thought she meant as in she liked him in a romantic way.
"Not like that! I like him as a friend!" Aurora said abruptly.
"Good, because he doesn't deserve you!" Andrea said.
"I thought you loved me" Macro said, looking over at Andrea.
"I do, it's just I want the best for my sister, and I definitely don't want her dating one of my men!" Andrea said.
"Hey, I wanted to ask, can someone show me a tour of this place, I can barely even make it back to Andrea's room, I think" I said.
"Aurora can give you a tour, I have work to do. I need to go see if the shipments arrived here" Andrea said, walking off.
"Okay, let's go!" Aurora said, grabbing a hold of
my arm.
"And this is the library, which in my opinion is the most boring place in this whole mansion" she said.
She had given me a full tour of the house in less than thirty minutes which was fast, because this place is huge.
"No, I actually like this place, I like reading a lot." I said, walking in the library.
"What, but how?" she asked, following right behind me.
"I like reading because it lets me escape the real world, and I don't have to face reality when I'm reading, because you imagine yourself in a completely different world, you see yourself in the main character so much and wish if you could only have her life. Because you know that life would be much simpler and have much more meaning to it if you had... her life" I explained.
"Wow, that's deep" she said.
"I know, it's just my way of how I see books" I said.
Maybe I'll try it someday, see if I can relate to what you just described it as" she said.
"You should, I think you'll enjoy it" I said.
"Well, anyways I should get going, because I just got back from New York and I still need to unpack, but if you'd like you could stay here and leave whenever you'd like" she said.
"Sure, I'll stay maybe read a book or two and then I'll head back to my room" I said.
"Speaking of your room, where is it?" she asked.
"I share it with your brother. He wanted me to share it with him so we could get along better, knowing we have to get married" I said.
Saying that makes me feel uneasy, never in my life did I ever imagine myself getting married. I never believed in love, so how was I supposed to get married. How am I going to get through this?
"Okay, I'll leave you alone then, bye" she said, walking out of the library and shutting the huge double doors of the library behind her.
I made my way to my favorite section of the library, the fantasy bookshelf. I lightly ran my finger along the books, they were all different shapes and sizes, all having amazing covers and names. I couldn't pick so I continued running my finger along the books and coming to a stop. My fingers stopped at a book, with the name 'The secret we share'. I grabbed the book and walked over to a bench and started reading it.
"Wow, I already finished it" I said out loud, closing the book. I walked back to its bookshelf to put it back, when I noticed that it had a second book to it, so I grabbed it. But it was too late to read now, so I decided to head back to Andrea's room and shower and then continue reading this book.
I made my way to Andrea's room, when I was about two rooms away from his, I saw a man walking in my direction. He had brown wavy hair and dark and mysterious eyes, he wore a light blue buttoned up shirt and dark blue jeans and a leather jacket draped over his shoulders. Who is he? We made our way closer to each other.
"Hi" I said, with a polite smile.
"Hello"
"Who are you?" I asked.
"My name is Leonardo, and you?" he asked.
"My name is Elena" I replied, with a smile.
"A cute name, for a cute girl" he said, with a grin.
"Aw, thank you" I said.
"I should get going he said.
"Wait, where?" I asked.
"I need to speak to Andrea" he said.
Why didn't he address him as boss? Were Andrea and him close, like he is with Marco? I just shrugged it off, and waved goodbye and made my way to Andrea's room.
I walked into Andrea's room, and saw that Andrea wasn't in the room, I didn't really care, all I wanted to do was shower, read this book and go to sleep. I made my way to the walk-in closet to grab my pajamas, but there still weren't any clothes there, I had no clothes. Didn't Andrea say his men were going to get me my clothes? I'll go ask him. I walked out my room and made my way to his office, which I knew where it was now, thanks to Aurora.
I didn't even knock, and walked straight in, which was quite rude of me.
"Oh my god" I gasped, as I clenched my book to my chest from shock and fear.
I saw Andrea held by his neck by the guy I just spoke to in the hallway, Andrea had several bruises on his face, and he had a gush wound on his forehead, that was seeping blood from it. The guy was holding a sharp blade to his neck. Why is he doing this? I thought he only wanted to talk to him, not kill him. And if he were here to kill him, what was his reason for wanting to kill the most feared mafia boss?
"W-what are you doing?" I stuttered.
"Get...out of...here" Andrea said, heavily breathing.
"I thought you only wanted to talk to him!" I shouted.
"Oh, but I had to lie to get to him, why would I tell you that I was here to kill your boyfriend" he said, sinking the blade deeper into Andrea's throat.
Why isn't Andrea fighting back? Isn't Andrea the most feared mafia boss? So why isn't he doing anything? I thought carelessly and decided to do something and help Andrea, although I knew he had a blade, and that he could fight, whereas I can't. I ran over to the guy and kicked his leg which made him wince in pain and loosen his grip on Andrea, I then hit him with my book on his head, which made him fall and roll on his side. I suddenly saw three men come running into Andrea's office, including Marco. The guy quickly got back on his two feet and grabbed me from my wrist and pull me towards him, which made me drop my book.
He held me by my waist with one hand and held the blade to my neck with the other hand.
"I will live up to my promise Andrea, remember that!" he said. What promise? What is he talking about?
"Let her go! She has nothing to do with our rivalry!" Andrea shouted. Marco and the two other men drew their guns out and pointed them at the guy.
"Let her go!" Marco shouted.
"This isn't over Andrea, I still haven't lived up to my promise!" he said, letting me go and running out past the three men.
Andrea collapsed to his knees when the guy ran off.
Macro quickly ran to help Andrea.
"What the hell was Leonardo doing here?" Macro asked Andrea. The two other men stood at the door as our protection.
"La promessa" Andrea replied. Did he seriously reply in Italian so I wouldn't understand him? (The promise)
"Stronzo!" Macro cussed out. (asshole)
"Shouldn't we call a doctor?" I asked, still in shock.
"No, go and get Aurora!" Macro said, helping
Andrea up to his chair.
"What? But why?" I asked, confused.
"Just do it!" Macro shouted. I did as he said, and ran to Aurora's room, she wasn't asleep, but she was in her pajamas.
"Andrea...needs your... help!" I said, panting in between breaths.
"What?" she asked.
"He's hurt, come on!" I shouted. We quickly made our way to his office and Aurora ran in before me.
"What the hell happened?" Aurora asked.
"Leonardo, he came here, and I wasn't ready for his attack, and he got the advantage of a surprise attack, and his attack was quick and sharp which showed he was preparing for it, and next thing I know he was holding a sharp blade to my neck" Andrea explained. Aurora started examining his wounds.
"Then how did you live?" Aurora asked, getting up and grabbing a first aid-kit from the drawer and came back to Andrea.
"Elena saved me, she hit him with a book, and he fell to the floor" Andrea replied.
"I didn't save you, because when I did, he had also almost killed me" I said, honestly.
"Wow girl, you fought him off" Aurora said, applying alcohol to Andrea's wound.
"I don't even know what I did, I just did what first came to mind, which was stupid because he had a weapon, and I didn't" I said.
"But if you hadn't done something, Andrea would have died" Aurora said, wrapping a gauze over the cleaned wound.
"Thank you" Andrea said, smiling at me.
His smile looked so sincere, I didn't even think he was capable of smiling because of his rude and distant self. I just smiled back in response.
"There and next time please be prepared to fight someone, stronzo!" Aurora said. (asshole)
"Yeah, I know" Andrea said. "Now all of you out of my office!"
Everyone left but I stayed because I still hadn't asked him the question that brought me to saving his life.
"What are you still doing here? You should go to bed, it's getting late" he said, shuffling through papers on his desk.
"The reason I came to your office in the first place is because I have a question, I need to ask you, and then I will go" I said.
"What is it?" he asked, his eyes never meeting mine, but still focused on the papers.
"Why do I have no pajamas? I thought your men got me everything" I said.
"They did" he said, finally looking at me. His eyes were as blue as the ocean, so clear that you could see your reflection in them.
"No, when I was about to grab my pajamas to go shower, they weren't there!" I said.
"I'll ask them tomorrow about it" he said, looking back at his papers.
"What am I supposed to sleep in tonight?" I asked.
"You can borrow something from mine" he replied.
"Fine. Am I bothering you or something?" I asked.
"No, why would you be bothering me?" he asked, looking back at me.
"I just feel like you don't want to talk to me" I say lowly.
"What?" he asked.
"Nothing. Why did that guy want to kill you? I'm sure he had a reason, right? I mean he wouldn't want to kill you for no reason" I said.
"Even if he didn't want to kill me, he still would have a reason to kill me" he said.
"So, he does have a reason? And why would he still have a reason?" I asked.
"I can't tell you the exact reason until I can trust you with it, just know that we are rivals." He replied.
"Don't worry, I get it. And my second question, why would he still have a reason to kill you?" I asked.
"Elena, I'm the most powerful and feared mafia boss from the mafia kingdoms, everyone would try to kill me to get my place and be at the top of the kingdoms" he replied.
"Reasonable, I guess" I said, with a yawn.
"You should go to sleep, El" he said.
"Yeah, I will. Good night" I said, walking out of his office.
Andrea POV:
I felt so weak and empowered by Leonardo, he was only the second most powerful mafia boss, how did he manage to beat me in a fight? We always fought before, but he never managed to win, was I that unprepared for a fight, or my shock to him getting into my mansion? Or was it something else? But what could it be? I have always been stronger than him, since we were kids, so what the hell happened today? I was so lost in thought that I didn't even notice someone walking into my office.
"Andrea, Che Cazzo?" my dad yelled. Oh great, what does this asshole want now? (what the fuck?)
"Hmm?" I asked, looking up at him.
"I just found out that you lost a fight with Leonardo.
How the hell did this happen?" he yelled. I was scared he was going to wake someone up, but I had to answer.
"I didn't expect him to come here and decide to fight me" I replied.
"You're always supposed to be ready! This isn't how I trained you! I trained you to be the best, to not be a coward, to not be weak!" he yelled. I was bursting with anger and rage when he said that last sentence.
"Oh really, is that what you think you did? Because I can assure you that it didn't work out for you. You fucking treated me horribly my whole life, you made me keep training even when I told you that I was tired and was about to collapse, and needed a break, you abused me, thinking that it would help me grow stronger, well it didn't! It only made me weaker, because I'm scared of trusting people because of you, I'm scared of loving someone, scared I'll do what you did and hurt her, just like you did to mum. Why are you such a cold-hearted bastard!" I yelled, slamming my hands on the table.
He simply stayed silent, and when he did, I thought that I had won this argument when he spoke again,
"And you think I'll care if anything bad happens to you?" he asked, with a smirk his face.
"Of course, you won't, because you're blinded with money and power, but those things will never bring you true happiness! Love is what brings you true happiness in this world, not how much money you have or how powerful you are, love is what makes us human, but you robbed me of that emotion when I was only a child, and now I will live my whole life never understanding the true meaning of it because of you!" I yelled one final time, hoping this would do it and he would walk away.
"You are no son of mine, you mistake!" he yelled, before leaving my office.
