Chapter 1
JARREN
"Doc! Someone's going to give birth!"
"Just tell him to come back tomorrow, I'm sleepy!"
"Doc! The child is coming out!"
"She can give birth on her own. I'm still in a hurry! Tch!", I complained while putting on the lab gown.
I hurriedly went to the delivery room. When I got there, I immediately heard the cry of a woman. Just look at how young he looks. About 16 or 17. "Young people are really into it now." I whispered and shook my head.
I immediately put on the gloves and positioned myself in the middle of his thigh. "Miss, why is there a forest here?"
"Doc! My son is coming out!"
"Tch! I didn't even do deforestation. I wasn't ashamed anymore.", I whispered and started giving birth.
Twenty minutes had passed but the baby was still in her uterus. "Push! 1! 2! 3!" I screamed as sweat dripped down my forehead.
"Ahhh!! I don't want it anymore! Bw€sit you man! After you raise me, you'll just leave me!"
"That's why it's easy to make a fool of yourself." I promise.
"I thought he was a coward! Hmp! Ahhh! Wohh! Wohh!" It screamed as it squealed.
"Inhale! Exhale! Then push! The child is coming back because you don't know how to stop! Because you don't know how to be careful, you're left with evidence!" My sermon
"Eh, the condom he bought is in the hole! Ahh! Wohh! Wohh! Son! Come out please!"
"Just push, if you don't push I'll pull the kid! Take off that head I say."
"You're terrible! Are you really a doctor?!"
"Am I here or not? My time is precious so go ahead if you don't want your son's head to be taken off!"
"Mom! My doctor is crazy"
I'm sitting in my office while drinking coffee. My morning was not so good. I'm sleep deprived and I still have a lot of patients lined up outside. I can barely eat because of my work. Hey, it's really hard to be a doctor, you're always busy. I can't even manage my love life anymore. When can I insert it in my schedules?
"Next patient please!" My assistant nurse shouted.
Oh god! I was only able to rest for two minutes, and then something new happened.
My thirtieth patient came in right away today. It's an old man with his grandchild. He sat in the chair in front of me.
"Doc, my back hurts."
"Is it my fault that your back hurts?"
"It's Doc."
"Don't take the medicine at the right time yet, I tell you." I said after I checked his condition.
"But doc is bitter." The old man complained and sat back in the seat in front of me.
"Is there any medicine for saltiness? Tsk! I'm helping you, you're the one with the headache. Please help me. Do you really want to live or do you want to die? And when I prescribed you a painkiller. "
"Grandpa, your doctor is crazy." His grandson whispered.
"I heard that!"
"Shh, you're just a grandson." The old man scolded the grandson.
"But Grandpa, your doctor is crazy."
"I've been told I'm crazy." I moaned.
I immediately wrote a prescription to the old man so it could go away. Too bad it might hurt my back even more if I didn't prescribe it. I'm still to blame.
"Next patient!"
A woman entered. She has this flirty look on her face. Her chest is also spitting in her red fitted dress that is above the knee. She sat in front of me showing her small breasts. I guess it hurts my chest.
"Doc, my chest hurts."
I knew it!
"That's over with the lamas."
"Go ahead and eat it." The woman said flirtatiously while biting her lip. Gross!
"I'm going to swallow that shallow dish? What is gold?"
"What lawlaw?! It's big! And perfect! Every guy desires to touch it and y-you! You just said that it's lawlaw?!", the woman shouted in annoyance as if she couldn't believe that I said that.
"I'm a doctor, wife. I encountered a lot of breast in my whole life being. And I know the big difference between lawful and perfect." I stated a fact.
"What wife?! Miss me!" It screamed angrily.
"Oww, Miss. I thought that you already have ten kids."
"D-doc, how is my son? Is he okay?" Mrs. asked worriedly. Houston.
Their son was rushed earlier and they wanted me to check on his condition. The results had come so we are here now outside the private room of their son.
I looked away. "Mr. And Mrs. Houston. Your daughter has Glioblastoma." I answered directly. This conversation is going nowhere if I continue to waddle.
"What? Elaborate it." Mr. Houston said.
I stare at his eyes intently. "Glioblastoma (GBM), also referred to as a grade IV astrocytoma, it is a fast-growing and aggressive brain tumor. It invades the nearby brain tissue, but generally does not spread to distant organs. GBM's can arise in the brain de novo or evolve from lower-grade astrocytoma." I promise seriously. "Glioblastoma is an aggressive type of cancer that can occur in the brain or spinal cord. Glioblastoma forms from cells called astrocytes that support nerve cells. Glioblastoma can occur at any age, but tends to occur more often in older adults. It can cause worsening headaches, nausea, vomiting and seizures."
"Oh god!" Mrs. cried. Houston. He was about to fall but his wife quickly supported him. "Our daughter, Sebastian! We c-cant lose her! She's our only daughter!"
"Do everything that you can to save her, Dr. Jarren.", Mr. Houston. His expression showed depression and sadness at what he found out. But it keeps being strong for the wife.
I shook my head. "I can't save her. You can find another doctor for her." I said directly.
"What did you say?" It seems like an unbelievable question. "You can't save her? D-aren't you the perfect doctor? You don't have a dead patient in your hands yet. Treat my son. I'll do everything just to treat him. I'll pay no no matter how much." Please Mr. Houston. His voice was desperate. He lost his cool a while ago.
"I'm sorry. I can't cure her. I'll refer her to another doctor." I promised coldly and then turned my back on them.
I was about to walk away but a hand grabbed my left hand. I looked at it and saw Mrs. Houston kneeling and crying. "Dr. Jarren, please, cure our daughter. Please save her. I'm begging you. We can't lose her. I love her so much. I can't lose my daughter. Please... I'm begging you. "It's a crying plea.
His wife attended it. "Wife, don't do that! Stand up, please." Mr. Houston said as he held his wife to stand.
"No! Don't touch me, Sebastian! Our daughter needs to be treated! She's s!ck! And she needs the best doctor!" He shouted at his wife. It turned to me. "Please, name the price of your service. J-just save her! Save my daughter! I don't want to lose my daughter! She's all alone..." She begged as her tears continued to fall.
"Glioblastoma are ultimately incurable. Even if I were to be your daughter's Doctor, I wouldn't be able to do anything. All I can do is to prolong her life. I can't save her." I coldly said as I removed the hands of Mrs. Houston.
His wife helped him to stand up but eventually he sat down again. She's so weak. It is weak about what is known. "Is there no other way to save my child? Dr. Jarren, I can't lose Kelsey. She's my only child. I'll do everything for my child to live long." Begging Mr. Houston. His previously emotionless face became sad.
I sighed. "I am currently studying and finding a cure for Glioblastoma patients. But no. I can't risk the life of your daughter just to find a cure for Glioblastoma."
That's right. I can't risk someone's life for the sake of finding a cure for that tumor.
"What are we going to do, Sebastian? We can't lose her!" Mrs. asked Houston while still crying.
"Hush wife. Kelsey will be alright, okay? She will be gonna be fine. We won't lose her." It will let the wife sit and let her sit in the chair.
"Excuse me." I said goodbye and left.
I'm just a doctor. Yes, no one of my patients died but at that state of their daughter, one year is far from here. Glioblastoma was a very severe case. I can't risk my title for her. I can't lose my name for being the perfect Doctor.
And also I can't risk her for being my lab rat just to overcome the current study being done to discover the medicine for this disease.
I turned to the door when it opened. A serious Sebastian Houston entered and sat in the visitor's chair of my office.
"Good afternoon Mr. Houston. What can I do for you?" I formally asked even if I already know what he's doing here.
"I want you to cure my daughter." This is the answer. The determination to heal the child can be based on its face.
"I'm sorry Mr. Houston. I can't cure your daughter. I can't risk her life for my experiment." I said as I played the pen in my fingers.
His expression changed. "You are a good, smart and talented doctor, Jarren. That's why I'm giving you the life of my daughter. I trust you. Save her." He said as his eyes we're showing how he feels. Worries and determination.
"But Mr.---
"I'm begging you. Save my daughter. We can't lose her. She's my princess. I love her so much. I can do everything just to save her." It's pleading while looking into my eyes. It was shaking and a drop of tears came from its left eye until it increased and it completely cried in front of me. He bowed his head and wiped his tears. "I'm giving you her life. I will trust you. Please, save her Jarren! I'm begging you! Please, save her! Save my daughter!"
The strong and emotionless CEO of Houston Company was crying and begging in front of me just to save his daughter.
You're a doctor, Jarren. And a doctor's job is to help anyone who needs it. At least in any way.
The words of my mom suddenly appeared in my head. She's right. I'm a doctor. No matter how much I consider myself a perfect doctor, I will not help the needy.
"Fine. I'll be her doctor." I finally promised.
The tearful Mr. raised his head. Houston. His face brightened and you could see hope in his eyes. "R-really? T-thank you! Thank you, Dr. Jarren! I owe you a lot!" This enthusiastic promise while thanking me again and again.
I smiled. "Don't thank me, Mr. Houston. I haven't done anything yet."
It shook its head. "It is enough to know that my son is with the best doctor. I know you will not abandon him." Hope started to rose up on his eyes.
"I will do everything just to cure her, Mr. Houston." I reassured him and shook his hand. He accepted my hand and shook it.
I went to Kelsey's private room. I know her since she's a famous model and of course she's the one who was supposed to be the bride of Yñigo Silvestre. But their marriage didn't work for some reasons.
I turned the doorknob and entered. I caught them arguing.
"No mom! I'm not sick! I'm fine!" Kelsey firmly promised Mrs. Houston.
"Kelsey, son. Please, stay here at the hospital. You need to get better." Convincing the Mother of this while I don't know where to hold the child.
"I'm going home! I'm not sick!" Kelsey said sternly as she put her things in her Chanel bag.
"Kelsey, baby. Don't be stubborn, okay? You need to stay here so you can be treated and cured." His daddy explained while stopping him from packing.
"They said I don't have a skit! Why can't you understand that?! I'm fucking fine! I'm healthy!" He shouted angrily at his parents.
"Son, your situation right now was very sensitive! Son, listen to us. We know it's hard to accept but that's the truth. Son, we're right here by your side. We'll do everything to get you well." His Mother said while holding his hand.
Thank you! The stubbornness of a to!
He shook his mother's hand. "I'm not sick, okay? I'm perfectly fine. I'm fine, mom!" It said. He was obviously also convincing himself that he was not sick.
"Son, please listen to me. You need to be treated! To get rid of your pain!" His father shouted with obvious frustration on his face.
"I'm not sick! Fuck... I'm not sick!" Kelsey screamed again and again until she sat on the floor. His Mother immediately attended him and hugged him. Tears kept pouring out of his eyes. "M-mommy... I c-can't be s-sick! what about my career? What about my modeling? I can't lose modeling! That's all I have left!" It wails as it hugs Mother.
"Son..."
His mother seemed to be at a loss for words and so was his father.
I tasted so I grabbed their attention. "D-doc Jarren! It's you." Mr. Houston said as he simply wiped his tears.
Kelsey stood up and wiped her tears too. She looked at me and rolled her eyes.
What an attitude!
"I'm here to formally talk to the patient." I said as I put my hands in my lab coat pockets.
"Kelsey, your doctor said to talk to you." Her mom said as she gently patted Kelsey's back.
"Yeah, right. I know." She said as she rolled her eyes again at me.
How can we have two? I can't treat it anymore?

Chapter 2
"Your condition was severe." My introduction. Here we are now in my office.
"I'm not sick." He insisted while artfully sitting in the visitor's chair.
"There is and this is called Glioblastoma." I insist too. I clasped my two hands that were on the table. "Glioblastoma (GBM) remains the most common and most aggressive primary brain tumor, with a median survival of merely 3–4 months without treatment. This increases to 12 months with surgery and adjuvant radiation therapy--
"I didn't ask you about that, Dr. Salvatero." She said as she rolled her eyes at me.
"Tss. Stop rolling your eyes at me." I promise. I'm serious. "Look, I'm here to help you. I'm your Doctor. So please cooperate with me."
"No."
"Ms. Kelsey Houston. Stop being stubborn. You badly need to be treated."
"I don't need to be treated! I'm going to die too!"
"No life has yet been lost in my hand
"You are still not in control of my life, Dr. Salvatero. You said that I can only survive 3-4 months without treatment and 12 months with surgery. I will still die. So there is no use on treating me." This cold promise while looking into my eyes.
"I'm currently finding a cure for that tumor
"Ohh? So you're going to use me as your lab rat? God! People nowadays are willing to do everything just for the sake of their fucking title and money." He said sarcastically and winked.
"My title as Doctor has nothing to do with this."
"So? You're expecting me to buy your excuses?"
I held my breath. "Ms. Houston. We're talking about your life here. That's why I don't have time to think about money and my title."
"Tsk! What a liar."
"I'm not a liar."
"Liar."
I felt dizzy. Shit! This woman is annoying! She's wasting my time and effort! "Ms. Houston, will I get the money I get when I heal you? Maybe you're not aware but I'm the owner of the land and structure that your stepping of. Even if I squander millions every day it's still not I will beg." I stared at her intently. "Ms. Houston, I'm just doing my job. I'm a doctor and it's my duty to heal my patients."
"So you're doing this just for your title, huh? Because you'll benefit too! When you heal me, you'll be promoted even more! You'll be even more famous!"
Why can't she believe me?
I closed my eyes in frustration. I inhale and exhale to calm myself. "Ms. Houston, do you know how your parents begged me to heal you? Your father begged at me. The ruthless CEO of Houston company begged me just for the sake of his only child." I stood up as I looked at her. I put my two hands on the table between us. "I can't force you to heal because it's your own body and it's not my concern anymore. The only thing that matters to me is whether you can just discard all the suffering of your parents and just heal yourself. You are important to them , Ms. Houston. Very, very important. They want to be with you for a long time that's why they're doing everything just to get well. They believed that someday you'll heal. They're not giving up on you so I hope you don't give up on yourself either. I hope you clearly understand what I'm pointing out here. But it's still up to you to heal or not. Your decision, your choice."
"Good evening, Doc!" A nurse greeted me. I just smiled and continued walking.
I'm heading my way to the emergency room. Mara is said to be there.
When I arrived at the emergency room, someone was crying there.
"Crisostomo! Don't leave me! Fight!" And the lady wailed again.
I walked quickly and approached Mara's place. "What happened?" I asked as I pulled up the sleeve of the lab gown.
"Heart attack." Mara answered and left her seat. She assists the other patient who is in her life and death situation.
I took his place and immediately attended to the patient. I pushed hard and fast on the center of the patient's chest in a fairly rapid rhythm about 100 to 120 compressions a minute. I repeat what I do until I hear the sound of the device. It was a straight line. I immediately took the defibrillator and pointed it at the patient's chest. "1! 2! 3!" The patient's body vibrated. I repeat it again and still, the patient has no heartbeat.
"Doc! What's going on with my wife? I thought you were good?" The lady sobbed.
"don't want to get up, your wife is blaming me hey get up there!" I screamed and finally I heard a series of sounds from the device that served as an estimator of his life. His heartbeat was restored. But at the same time as my patient died, Mara's current patient died.
The other bed was filled with moaning. "Nurse, move the patient to his room." I ordered and then approached Mara who was currently crouching.
I was rubbing his back when the patient's mother suddenly screamed. "You're useless doctor! I entrusted you with my son's life! He's too young to lose! Why didn't you save his life?!" He shouted at Mara while crying.
"That's enough. That's not Doc Mara's fault." I said but the boy's mother just looked at me evilly.
"You doctors are the same! Your patient's life is of no value to you! The only thing that matters to you is money!" It shouted at us and poked us.
"Excuse me? Do you want me to feed you my aesthetic luxury black credit card? Tch! You're even helping me, you're the one saying things! You're belittling me too much! Is it my fault that your son crashed? Myself you can't watch your son! Let's go, Jarren!" Mara said flatly and pulled me away.
I'm currently driving now while taking a peek at Mara. "Don't think about what the woman said earlier. She is Mara's mother and naturally it is painful for her to accept that. Besides, aren't you used to it? Almost every day the families of our patients are exposed to that. "
"Hey, Jarren! You don't understand what I'm feeling! You've never had a patient die. You're the one who yelled and screamed and then said I'm not a good doctor? It's so hard to become a doctor and then I'll just do the same to you? let him know how difficult what I do. It's annoying!"
I just laughed weakly. "You're so cute!"
"Shut up!"
I squeezed his cheek which annoyed him even more. I just laughed at her while she was very annoyed at me.
It was early in the morning when I arrived at the hospital. I make rounds with my patients early. "Hi Grandma! How are you?" I asked grandma Nida energetically. She was Mara's 78-year-old patient.
The old man smiled. "It's good. Who are you?"
I still smiled at her even though she can't remember me. "It's me, Jarren. Your doctor friend."
She's suffering from Schizophrenia.
The old man's face lit up. "Oh! Doc Jarren! It's you! You're really handsome! How are you?"
"I'm fine. I'll just check your heartbeat, okay?" I said smiling to Grandma Nida. He nodded so I started moving to check his heart beat.
"Where is your husband? You still haven't found him yet?" he asked.
I look at her. "Grandma, my wife was still missing."
"Hey, I don't know why that boy ran away! I raised him well. I don't understand why he left you. You're so handsome."
I finished checking his heartbeat and he was still talking. "Iho, I know you are sad right now. Just forgive my son. I hope you don't get tired of waiting for him." This promise begged.
I smiled. "Grandma, go to sleep. Your nurse will wake you up when it's time to eat."
She smiled at me too. "Oh, I'm going to sleep first. I woke up this morning, too. Thank you for taking care of my son. I know you're still not giving up on finding him. Foghting! Feghting? Ahh, it's just a fight. You'll see him too and when you see it, get pregnant right away so nothing gets lost. Okay?" He said it seriously.
I laughed softly. "Grandma, go to sleep. I'm leaving too."
"Go on Felix. Goodbye."
I smiled at her again before heading my way back.
Pew! I don't really have a husband and then he will say I have a wife? God! And really left me! It looks like you're just going to leave it?! tears? Where are you?
The scene happened a lot earlier and I'm used to it. Because I have become close to the old man..
It was then. I decided to go out first and go to the rooftop. I want to breathe some fresh air. Because what I smell inside the hospital is pure blood and medicine. I took off my doctor's coat and revealed my white polo underwear. I am currently opening the door of the rooftop when I suddenly saw a lady with a hat who was about to jump. I panicked so I quickly went to the girl's place and pulled her down. "Hey! What are you doing?!"
He hugged me but he immediately pushed me away. "I'm not going to kill myself, okay?! I only have a few months left, I'm going to kill myself? I'm not that stupid, duhh!" This is an artistic promise. Her eyes immediately rolled when he met mine.
"What are you doing there? You even stepped on the back cement that serves as railings."
It turned its back on me and returned to its previous position. I was about to approach him to scold him but he sat down. "It was windy here. I love the view. At least I can experience this in the last days of my life." She said normally. There was no hint of bitterness or sadness, just plain.
I came here and told him. The view right here was really nice. Perfect time and perfect place to standby. The weather is not that hot either. Just right.
I look at my feet. It was hanging and under it there were people walking. They look like little ants. We're currently at the rooftop of the hospital that has twenty floors.
"You're not gonna die yet. You'll live long." I said while looking at the clouds.
"You don't hold my life." This is a direct promise.
I looked at him and his eyes were just staring at the clouds. "I'm a good doctor."
It glanced at me. "You're good but what can your hands do if it's really time for your patient to die?" She asked coldly and then stared again at the sky.
I laughed softly. "You're hopeless."
"Coz' that's the truth. Few months from now, my body will be buried six feet underneath the ground and no one can stop that. Even you."
"How can you be so sure?"
"Because I can feel it. I won't last long and I don't have a choice but to accept it." She laughed sarcastically. "Tangina's life. The villain in my best friend's love story, there's more to it and there's only days left. It's great! God is so good at planning everything!" It screamed. "I still have lots of dreams that I want to pursue."
"So, what's your plan?" I asked seriously.
The wind blew and swayed her long wavy hair.
It turned to me for a moment before looking away. "Treat me. Make my life longer." She said avoiding my eyes.
"The table was now turned." I said as I whistled.
"Shut up." It looked at me boldly. "I am only doing this for my parents. They sacrificed a lot for me and I won't waste all of those. Not a single amount."
"Okay okay!" I give up. "I understand you but how about your modeling? Your career?" I asked.
"You will treat me but no one should know. I would still go out for shoot and then go home here in hospital. Geezz, I don't want to stay such place like this. I think it would make me more sick."
"That's your plan? What about your serum? Remove the bag and stab again, right?"
"It can be like that, right? I'm immune to the disease."
"Oh, then what if your illness attacks you while you are shooting? Who will help and treat you? The photographer?" I still ask.
It was difficult. "Duhh! I would be fine! Also, why do you have so many what if's in there? Are you the one who dies?"
"I'm concerned because you're my patient." I said straight.
"I don't care." She said flatly and stared at the sky again. "The sky was endless. I hope my life too."
I have no comment. I just sit here while listening to her words.
Her long wavy hair was dancing with the wind. Her flawless skin was glowing under the sun. Her lips were red and her nose was cute and perfect. She has these gray eyes that have curly thick eyelashes. I wonder why Yñigo can't love her. There was no hint of mistakes in her. Everything was in perfect places.
Or maybe because of her bitchy and spoiled attitude?
"Stop staring at me, Ridge."
I immediately diverted my gaze to another direction. Geez, that was embarrassing. Oh wait! No! Not that name again.
I looked at him. "What did you call me?"
It also looked at me with raised eyebrows. "Why? Do you have any violent reaction, Ridge?"
"No! Don't call me in that name! Call me, Dr. Jarren!" I promise hyper.
"Why? It's a nice name. Besides, it's common for Jarren. Ridge, after all, it's part of your name."
"I don't really like that name."
"You don't have any choices, Ridge."
"Stop calling me, Ridge!"
"Ridge!" It teased and laughed.
I just shook my head and gave up. It's up to him. My head hurts from him.
"Okay, fine! Then I'll call you, Ely." I said.
My turn.
He frowned. "Ely? What a weird name. Gross." She said as she act like gonna puke.
"Ely! Ely!" I'm still teasing.
"You ugly make a nickname!"
"You don't have any choices, Ely." I imitate what it said earlier.
It gave me a look and I just laughed at it. But I was surprised that she didn't protest anymore. She just stare at me and smile while holding her hat and I am just here laughing in front of her.
"Then, Ely it is." She said.

Chapter 3
JARREN
"Ridge, I'm nervous." Kelsey uttered as she saw the needle on my hand. I'm about to hook him up with a sero but he's so mischievous that I can't hook him up.
"Can you, don't move too much. I can't hook it!" I'm running out of patience here.
"Well, that hurts!"
"You said you were numb."
"Duhh, I don't know about you." She said and rolled her eyes. He also looked away so I feel like I said something bad. Like, I think the words
I said were sensitive to talk with.
I just turned his averting eyes into an opportunity. I immediately pierced his vein and attached the serum. "What the fuck! That hurts! Dammit! I hate you!" It screamed in shock and pain. My arm was still beaten.
"That's it! It's over! You look like a child. It's very difficult for you to attach the serum. What else will happen when I take blood samples from you." I said and moaned but it just moaned back. "Where are the parents of this reprimanded patient?" I asked referring to Kelsey.
"Ah, we're just here Doc." Answered Mrs. Houston and come to us.
"Ma'am, your son is mine. I'll just bag it."
"Huh?" This is a surprised question.
I laughed a little before faking a cough and became serious. "I mean, she is here at the hospital from now on. I will be treating her. Don't worry, I'll do my very best to fulfill my job. She's under my name therefore she's my responsibility." I got the calling card on my coat and handed it to Mr. Houston. "For further results, important matter to discuss with, improvements of the patient and your concerns, just call me." I smiled and put my hands in the pocket of the coat. "I'll be leaving now. The nurses will assist her. I will just visit her later for the tests. Excuse me." I said before leaving.
I'm on my way to my office when a nurse suddenly approaches me. "Doc! There's a bus accident! Many people are injured!" She reported. I hurriedly went to the emergency room to treat the patients.
You will hear various screams and screams in the emergency room. I'm confused about who to prioritize with the number of wounded. My eyes settled on the girl crying while looking at her cracked arm.
I went near him and started treating him. "Doc, my son is hurting." The mother complained when she saw that the broken child cried more and more.
"That's normal, wife." I said as I focused my attention on the girl.
"But Doc, my son is crying. Is there no other way to relieve the pain he feels?" Parents are still nagging.
"Ma'am, the doctor was fucosed on treating your daughter so you better not disturb him." The nurse who assisted me answered.
"Why? I have the right to complain! You can put anesthesia on my son so he won't get hurt!"
"Ma'am, please calm down. You better get your svgat treated first. We'll take care of your son." The nurse calmly promised.
"Why don't you follow me?! I have a lot of money to pay you! Or maybe you just want to make my son's condition worse? So you can raise a large amount of money. That's how you are-"
"Tangina, oh! You're babbling, I can't fucos here. If this child of yours is disabled, it's your fault." I can't stop scolding.
"What am I?! You're a doctor, so treat my son properly! The one that doesn't hurt him!"
"You're the only one here, I'm there, you're better than me!" I exclaimed and the woman fell silent. "She's allergic to anesthesia that's why I can't ease the pain she's feeling."
I went back to treating the girl. I only did first aid because his broken hand required surgery.
"Send her to Doctor Alcide for the operation." I ordered the nurse and she nodded. I smiled at the girl before patting her head. "Don't worry. Your hand will be back to it's normal soon."
She smiled lightly and mouthed thank you. I just nodded before turning away to tend to the other patients.
Many were broken in the accident. Some are just scratches and others require surgery. There were also two people with tubes in their stomachs. There were five criticals and two fatalities. They are declared deed on arrival so my fellow doctors have not really done anything.
"You have two options for surgery, go shopping" Before I could finish the word, my patient interrupted me immediately.
"None of the above po" It was a blunt response.
"Oh, he's in a panic. Let him die." I also responded directly.
"It's just a joke, Doc. You're handsome." It said while being cute.
"You won't get better at being cute, so don't me." I said before injecting it with a sleeping pill. "Sleep first. Just chill there, you're good after all."
I was very busy the whole day. Tired, I dropped my body on the swivel chair. "Damn... I'm so fucking tired." I whispered and shook my head while closing my eyes.
"Doc, you still have to check your patient. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Houston." Reminder of my assistant nurse.
"Okay, thank you." I answered before breathing a large amount of air. I opened my eyes before I spoke. "You can leave now, Nurse Jalia. Go make rounds with your patients first."
"Okay, Doc." She answered and smiled before leaving.
After he left, I stood up and got some things that Kelsey would need.
I smiled while heading my way to her. That woman again. She's different. He is stubborn and cursed. Spoiled and bitchy attitude but cute. Damn! What are you talking about Jarren? She is your patient and she didn't even get half of your standard.
I shook my head before opening Kelsey's room. I saw her lying on the bed while looking at her cellphone. I saw how he caressed Yñigo's face on the screen of his phone. He had his back to the door so I could easily see what he was doing on the phone.
I know this seems invasion of privacy but I can't help looking at how she adored the man. She's really so in love with him. Only if he could love her back.
If Yñigo loved her forever, would he want to live for her? I guess she would do that more willingly. It's not that I have to show him all the sacrifices of his parents just so he can fight his illness.
"How are you, honey? Are you happy now? If you are then I'm happy for you too." He whispered softly while looking at the photo of the two of them.
I looked away. She's hvrt and it was severe. Is that really what love does to someone? If that's the case then it was way better for me to stay single forever. I take back what I said that I want to see 'the one'. It's too painful to love.
I was shocked when he suddenly sobbed. Your son... he just cried a while ago and now he's going to cry again? This spoiled brat made me cry a lot.
"How I wish you're here with me, honey. I need you here right now... I need strength to fight and live in this world. I miss you..."
I'm just tired. It sounds cringe but I don't care anyway, I just need to get his dvgo for further test so I can go back to my office.
I tasted it so it stopped crying. He simply wiped away the tears before hiding the phone and turning to me. He immediately raised an eyebrow at me when he saw me looking at him from the door. "What are you doing here?" She asked coldly.
What a shame! It doesn't seem to come from crying. "Of course I'm a Doctor that's why I'm here." I answered philosophically and finally entered the room.
She rolled her eyes at me before speaking again. "Don't philosophize on me."
"I'm just stating a fact, Ely."
"Whatever." She said and rolled her eyes again.
I just held my breath. My patient has a headache so I must be patient for a long time. I need endless adjustments for her. "I need to take blood samples from you." I said and came here. I put the things on the table next to his bed before putting on gloves. His art is still so I will adjust again.
I was about to insert the needle when he suddenly spoke. "Wait! I'm nervous."
I want to laugh because of what he said. He was nauseous earlier and now he feels like he's having diarrhea because he saw a needle. Oh my! Its counterpart is just a needle. I'll tease you to get angry. "Just calm down, I love you."
" I'm serious here, Ridge!" His face was almost impossible to paint so I ended up laughing. He glared at me so I stopped.
"I said I was going to get blood." I just said it and tasted it.
I was about to insert the needle again when he stopped my hand. "W-wait, can that be later? Or can you take a dvgo for me when I'm asleep?" Please this.
I got bored looking at it. "Ely, I need your blood samples asap."
"I don't want to."
"Kelsey." I said in a warning tone.
"No, I won't! I have the rites to decline."
"Edi don't." I just said before putting the things away. She's so attitude. Geezz, my brain is running out and I apologize to him. "I'll come back later when you're asleep."
He nodded before looking away. I sighed before speaking again. "How's your first day here?"
I need to lighten up her mood. He had just finished crying and I was still pissed off. When I leave him like that he can't rest. I'm her doctor that's why it's my responsibility to make her feel comfortable and good.
It turned to me. "Is that even considered as a question? Isn't it obvious that I'm having a hard time on adjusting in this s!ck place?"
I smiled a bit. "It's normal, Ely. You'll get used to it."
She rolled her eyes at me. "You do not understand me."
"Hey, it's not like that. I am a doctor. This hospital is my home. I sleep here because I have a lot to do and there are days when I just want to leave to relax and give time to myself. But it's not possible because I have a sworn duty." I said and sat on the chair beside her.
"Your situation was way different than mine. If you wanted to work and live here, I didn't. I am not used in such places like this. My life and career was outside in this establishment."
"But you need this in order to live. You have to train yourself to be here until you get better."
He laughed out loud. "You're a fool, Doctor. Do you think I'll get better? In my condition?"
"You'll be fine, Ely." I said determinedly.
"As what I've said earlier, you don't have my life in your hands. If it was my time to d!e then it really the time for me to d!e and you can't do anything about that even your brilliant hands."
I looked away. She's right but I'm still hoping that I can be able to cure her. "I won't give up until you get better."
"How can I give up on myself, Ridge? What if my body gives up on itself?" This question made me look back at him.
"You'll not gonna d!e. You'll recover and live long. No one gives up, Ely. You can't give up until I do." I stated with a serious tone.
He looked away. "Why are you insisting that I live for a long time? We both know that my pain is bad."
"Because you still have a dream! Didn't you say you want to build a family? If you want to reach it and make it true then don't drown yourself with your negative thoughts." I can't stop scolding.
"Bullshit! It's very crystal clear that I can't reach that dream due to my situation right now! That's why I am preparing myself to accept what's the reality!" It also smacks.
I sigh and relax myself. I pinched the bridge of my nose before looking at him again. "Just at least give yourself a chance to hope even though it's the most impossible thing to do, Ely."
