Chapter 1 Prologue

It wasn't like any other day. It wasn't the day when a hero could save the world. It was the day when it all started, the day when the atmosphere of Earth got disrupted by that portal for the first time!

A blood moon night changed the destiny of many human beings. And the changers weren't from Earth.

It all started in a well-developed city of Canada that bustled with people, technology, and class. But that night, it seemed dead. The streets were empty, the roads deserted. The whole city seemed abandoned by the humans.

The silence was tensing every muscle. It was that deathly. Suddenly, as the clock struck midnight, the dogs started howling, making the only sound that pierced through the quietness.

Empty streets... Locked doors... The barking of dogs, and of course... The blood moon...

Their howls turned into monstrous roars as the split occurred, and those creatures opened the portal to enter Earth. The cries of the dogs were so loud that they could be heard over the whole city.

And just as they were howling, another scream pierced their lonely cries and the non-existent silence.

A woman's scream.

Then another one screamed.

One more!

There were three of them screaming.

They were pregnant. This was not the time. But their time was decided by the creatures on the other side of the portal, ready to cross it and enter Earth.

That portal was a gateway to Earth, to communicate apparently, but humanity's destruction was their true purpose.

And they did. They crossed it.

At least... They tried...

Everything was set in motion. Everything was going smoothly for those creatures, but...

The moment they crossed the portal and tried entering Earth's atmosphere, they turned into ashes, and their powers left their bodies. Their powers were a being itself, choosing the three of those women out of the million other pregnant ones.

Those powers went inside every woman and killed them in the process of getting out of their bodies, and that was too much to take for the ones who were already going through the pain of labor. Consequently, a mass kill befell, whose reason stayed hidden from humanity for a long time, killing every woman the powers didn't like.

So, delivering the powerful babies, the three of those chosen women couldn't survive the shock given to them by the powers either. They died!

They gave birth to two boys and a girl.

Miraculously, the babies of those three women absorbed the powers, though they were very little to even see.

It was fate, or it was the moon's decision, the three children didn't know. They never came to know it.

So, time went by.

The seasons changed.

Hours spent.

And the kids were raised.

The girl grew up under her father's wing until she discovered her powers, and losing control over them, accidentally hurt him. She didn't want to live with him anymore. She didn't want to hurt him again. And reluctantly, her father sent her away from himself at her very own request.

The boys, on the other side...

Well, because one's father had died before his birth and the other's refused to accept him, they came to an orphanage. Meeting souls who had the same problems as their's and knowing each other's secrets, they came closer with time.

They grew up and ran away, hiding from the horrible world that didn't accept them. Their friendship expanded as they discovered the girl who had all the powers, who hurt her father and, the one who wanted peace in the world where she didn't seem to belong.

They raised each other. They helped each other. They felt a sense of belonging in each other's presence.

They supported each other to settle down in their lives. But little did they know that 'settling down' in their own lives would apart them. And eventually, they moved to different places in different cities.

The connection between them started becoming weaker. Nevertheless, the love was always there.

Living their lives, they found their soulmates in different circumstances. But what they weren't aware of was the future that had more in store for them than they knew.

Their names were,

ROSE XANDER,

STEPHEN MYLES, and

LIAM MORRIS.

Chapter 2 The Money or Red Eyes

Sitting on my room's balcony, I was looking at the moon. It was so bright. So luminous. So captivating. I wasn't able to avert my eyes from it. It held me still. At least this beautiful sight made my mind relax and made it stop thinking about, what I did a week ago.

That incident was haunting me. I even had its nightmares. 'I know what I did was not right. But I had to do it. It might be the worst thing I ever did and I know I shouldn't have done that'.

"I think the time is a merciless thing. I think life is a process of burning oneself out and time is the fire that burns you."

~TENNESSEE WILLIAMS

This quote defined my current state perfectly. My life was nothing, it was worthless. My time wasn't good either. With every passing day, I burnt a little more, I died a little more.

But the moon. It was still there. It was still the world's most attractive thing. It was the only good sight that my shadowy one-room apartment could give me and I was glad for it.

I grudgingly stood up and walked inside. I started strolling around my room. My room just had a bed, a cupboard and a writing table with a chair. Nothing more. I stopped and looked at the clock, which showed 6 p.m. I didn't want to go and meet that slum head but I had to. 'After all, I did this all for money, so now I should have it.' I sighed and went out of the room.

The cab was already outside so I went straight inside. After sitting comfortably inside the car, I asked the driver to take me to the required restaurant in which, I was about to meet that blonde eccentric millionaire who ruined my nights.

I wanted real business tonight.

******

All that time during the drive, I kept on thinking about who I was and what was my true purpose of being different from others. I didn't know anyone, anyone person like me. I felt being abnormal. It hurts, that I'm alone in this world, possessing a specific power. I have something that no one else can have. I didn't even know, what dad told me was true or was just a story.

This was another hurting fact that I didn't even have a friend or family member, with whom I could share my secret. And I didn't even know that if there's someone out there who is like me or who belongs to me. With these aching thoughts, I reached the restaurant and gave the driver the bucks he asked for.

I walked through the gate of a Japanese restaurant and reached the middle from where I could see everyone. I looked around for him, and there he was, sitting on the table beside the window, looking outside. I am not going to say that he's not handsome. He sure is. But the fault is in me that I don't take interest in anyone. Neither in girls nor in boys. Because I have spent a big part of my conscious life living alone with my faults and flaws.

I threw all of my thoughts of scolding myself into the sea and moved towards him who was now looking at me with a smile.

"So... What's up?" He asked cheerfully. He had confident expressions.

"I did what you wanted me to do, now give me my money." I went straight to the point.

"Calm down, young lady. Are you late from somewhere?" He smirked.

"I'm not here to calm myself down. There is nothing for me to do with your frickin business. Do whatever you want later, give me my money!" I yelled in a whispering tone. Why was I so angry? Maybe because what I did for him was not so satisfying. Or maybe because the scolding I was trying to give myself started pouring out at him.

"Actually there is something you can do with my frickin business, princess."

"I'm done with all of your businesses. Just give me my money!" I didn't want to divert everyone's attention towards us but he really started stressing me. What if he innocently tried to tell the police about me?

"It's not a good thing to tempt your boss." He smiled.

"When did you became my damn Boss?" He is nuts or he will make me nuts.

"Just a week ago, when you killed two innocents for the sake of my hunger. And, is killing innocents bothering you?" A small chuckle left his mouth. He was making me furious. And frightened but I did hide it.

"What do you want from me?" I asked glaring hard at him, keeping my tone straight.

"Ah... Now you came to the point." He bent over the table and came closer. "I want you." So now he was intimidating me with what I did. I could call it to blackmail.

"And if I would say, 'NO'?"

"You won't, don't worry." He smiled at me.

I leaned back on the chair and smiled. "Don't raise your expectations too high." I stood up and walked to the middle of the restaurant. My eyes turned to a bright red color when I saw my reflection in the mirror. Everyone who was sitting or standing there looked at me except for him. Their eyes also turned a bit red.

"LEAVE..." I shouted so that everyone could listen to my command.

Everyone looked straight towards me and walked slowly outside until I was only left with that blonde.

"Look, I have only $5000, you can have them if you want." He said immediately. I stayed silent, trying to hold my smile back. A smile won't be a good word, Laugh would be much better. Sometimes, I just laughed at how I make people stupidly turn their personalities.

"Now, you know what this princess can do so give me the whole shit I asked for."

"Hey calm down I..."

"Go to hell with your calm down, just get to the point....." I stopped, raising an eyebrow, "... only if you can."

"Okay, I do have $10000, nothing more than them." He said with a worried expression marked on his face.

"I wished to get more than this from you, but guess what, I'm wrong," I said sarcastically. The deal was done with $10000 each person so he should have $20000 with him, but he failed.

"Hey listen, please don't hurt me. Please." He begged me and I enjoyed the way he was begging. All his courage, money, pride, and everything else was gone to waste at the moment. At least even if I don't have these things I still do have courage.

I moved slowly towards him.

Suddenly something fell off from one of the tables. We both turned immediately to see the source of the sound, the owner of which again said;

"Umm...... SORRY."

Chapter 3 Kidnapping or Getting Kidnapped

P.O.V Darren

"Bro, you suck," I said to Leo who wasn't giving any importance to whatever I was saying. According to Leo, "Darren always talks nonsense." So now, he was not listening to my nonsense.

"I know that," He said blankly still not looking at me.

"Leonard!" I shouted his name.

"Yes?" He turned around and without looking at me, gave me the politest answer as if I called him 'Sugar Plum', not Leonard.

"Listen," I said.

"I'm listening." He was bored.

"Hey look, I don't want to go back home," I swear I didn't know why I said this but it just left my mouth. I think I was too much fed up with all that pep talk.

"You call that home?" He taunted.

"Hey!" Now I was serious and he looked at me.

"I don't want to go back there. I don't like this. Any of this. Please! Let's just run out of all of this." I sounded helpless. I always wanted to be a good boy, but never wanted to be a hero.

"Stop acting like a child Darren," He looked at my helpless state. "I don't like any of this either but..." He stopped, "Look, I don't know why we are doing this or what is happening but those girls are so much like us. They are the ones we once heard from our dad. They might really want to help us. Maybe whatever they are talking about is true." He said tapping my shoulder.

"I think I do believe them, but I need some time to comprehend whatever I am listening to." I again sounded weak.

"Okay, but you know we are wandering here for a reason so, I'll give you just an hour to do your 'comprehending thing'." He kind of ordered.

"No, I don't want to spend my time with you." He looked at me, questioning. "I'll die, Leo! You suck!"

"Okay sorry, what can I do for you 'your highness'?" He said dramatically.

"It's okay, there's no need for a sorry. Just leave me alone." I held my hand out for him to kiss it. After all, I'm his brother.

"Go to hell, you idiot!" He slapped my hand and made me laugh crazily. After seeing me laugh he controlled himself for a moment, but then we both burst out laughing.

I don't think that we guys needed any girl. We were just complete with each other. We were famous for laughing without any reason in the orphanage. We were crazy.

"Hey look, I'm serious," I said in between the laughter.

He sighed "Okay, just be back by seven."

"Got it!" I said excitedly and he left me alone, smiling.

******

"Oh my God! Why did I just send Leo back?" I was so much bored. The boredom was killing me. After Leo left me alone, I looked around excitedly and realized this just in a minute that I'm gonna regret my decision of being alone. I always regretted it.

"Why do I always do such things," I asked myself and also got a reply in Leo's voice, 'because you're an idiot.'

'I know.' I sighed deeply.

Looking around the restaurant I thought about doing some work. I started searching for 'Her', the thing we were doing later when Leo went home. One particular girl got my attention. It might be the girl we were looking for because she had red hair. I mean to say that she is a redhead and we looking for a redhead green-eyed girl. We didn't have any other description of her.

There were also some other redheads that I saw here, but her hair was not just red, they were eye-catching blood red. But then I realized that the girl we were looking for doesn't know what is a relationship. She's a hard type while this girl was sitting with a man, so she might not be the one. I know that by now you have realized that Leo was quite right about 'me talking nonsense.'

I averted my eyes from her and started looking at the girl who was playing softy on the violin. After a minute or so there was a shout of 'leave' and everybody including the musicians, the staff members, and the customers, stood up abruptly.

I jerked back seeing this. This was totally unusual. I thought of some hero, maybe for whom they all stood up or something like a mafia. But they were looking somewhere. I moved my eyes to see the source at which they were looking.

"Oh my Goodness!" It was the same redhead who was sitting at the corner table. Her eyes were red and her hair was glowing. Everyone's eyes also turned red.

"BE OFF," She yelled again and shit, not because everybody moved out but because I was left alone.

I hid under the table. 'She is. She is. She definitely is the girl we are looking for. Now, what am I going to do? Okay, let's call Leo.' I selected the contact named Mr. L and called it.

'What the... Signal problem?' How can we come to a signal problem in a well-developed city like this? Oh my God! I was freaking out. I came out of the table and stretched my hand in an attempt to catch some signals but in my attempt, I created more mess.

"Umm... SORRY." I said as the glass fell down from the table and shattered into pieces. And as two pair of eyes looked at me.

"Why are you still here?" That redhead's eyes diverted towards me.

"Because you didn't want me to go, maybe." My dumbest mind didn't give me any other good thing to say because she turned her green eyes towards me which were turning red.

"Oh... No, no... not me, please." I said in horror.

I think that she tried to do with me, what she did to others. I mean, I knew she had power but, if I guess, maybe mind-controlling is her power. She tried again and again but failed and now she was turning a little frustrated.

"Umm... Why are you staring at me like I'm super hot and I literally burned your eyes?" I was really good at doing or saying odd things at serious times, to get some time, maybe to run. I heard my phone vibrate. Keeping my expressions normal, I accepted the call, hiding my phone behind me.

"Shut up!!" She was tired, maybe because of trying this hard on me.

"Who are you?" She asked after gasping a little. There was a question in the mind of both of us that, if she could control everyone, then why not me?

"I'll ask the questions, who are you?" I asked in a bossy manner.

SILENCE.

STARE.

"Don't ever ask me again!" She said while pressurizing every word that escaped her mouth.

"Okay, okay I won't but... Hey!!" I shouted as the man who was sitting with her before, which I assumed was her boyfriend, started trudging towards me while holding a pan in his hands. His eyes gave a big hint of red in them. "Hey, don't do anything to me."

"You deserve it!" She said sarcastically.

"Why?" I asked.

"Because you didn't get affected by what I did earlier and I want the answer of, why?" I looked at her trying to understand her strange damn excuse when something hit my head and my own little world started dancing in front of me.

******

I was sitting on something really hard. Hard like a rock, but I think it was a chair and my butt froze sitting on it.

"Enough beauty sleep for today, now get up!" A girl's voice said strictly. I tried to open my eyes slowly. I was tied by my hands to the chair. It was a dark room, illuminated only by the moonlight. My head ached badly when I tried to move it and look around. "Ahhh..." It was a really bad hit.

"I have never seen a boy screech in pain." She mocked.

"At least I'm not screeching. Do I look like an Owl?" I darted back. She smirked and then turned serious.

"It's my turn to ask... Who are you?"

"Did you answer my question? No. Then why should I answer yours?" I said straightening myself up.

"There is no need for you to know me."

"There is no need for you to know me either." I paid her back in her own coin.

"Shut your slum mouth and don't tempt me to kill you." She became furious at once. This is apparently one of the only things I was good at, 'Teasing', and Leo was supposedly the biggest victim of this. A figure appeared behind her, giving me more courage.

"You can even try it if you would like to." I smiled.

She put the gun which she was holding in her right hand and aimed straight for my head. "Don't underestimate me."

I smiled "I'm not doing that."

"Any last wish?" She smirked again.

"Yeah!! Of course...

Save Yourself!"

While she was trying to understand me, the figure behind her snatched her gun and with its left hand, it locked her up clinging her to its chest. It put the gun to her neck. It whispered in her ear with rage,

"Don't. Even. Try. To. Move!"
