Because I Love You

Xiao Zhan went on a week's vacation to rest for a while after spending many months of nonstop work in their company. He thought that he needed some time to rest, anyway he was the boss and he was getting old so he needed to relax.

After some time of thinking, Xiao Zhan decided to spend his vacation on the island beach resort in the country. It was named Tianya Haijiao (Heaven's Edge Sea's Corner) in Sanya, on South China's Hainan Island, one of the most romantic and picturesque beaches in China. It was considered to be the southernmost tip of China. A must-see attraction for new Chinese couples because of old Chinese literature saying: "I will follow you to Tianya Haijiao", which means the couple will be together forever.

However, Xiao Zhan did not bring his girlfriend because he wanted to relax alone. Instead, he brought some of his canvas for painting so that he could pursue his passion for the arts. Since he works in the company, he doesn't have too much time to even paint a single portrait. Therefore, now was the best time to do it, especially with the very beautiful scenery of the ocean.

It was a windy and sunny afternoon, Xiao Zhan set up his things for painting facing the vast ocean. In front, there was a chair for him to sit. He wore a white undershirt with a light blue top polo shirt and blue pants. Then he began to draw the painting he called "My Ideal Life" because he portrayed his emotions and dream to be in the future in that painting.

Xiao Zhan drew the beautiful ocean with himself standing in front of the sea, watching the calmness of the water while wondering what's on the other side of the endless horizon. Beside him sat his cat pet Jiangu. And he painted a boat floating in the ocean not far away, also the bicycle he was using that day seated in the seashore. But it turns out that his painting was lacking something he could not figure out.

With that, Xiao Zhan sat on the sand to think about what was missing in his painting.

On the other side of the beach...

A man was surfing on the water, Wang Yibo was his name.

Wang Yibo was a rich young businessman invited by the beach resort owner for a week. Because he was very fond of challenges, even though he was a businessman, surfing caught his attention so he asked some surfers to learn how to play the thing. After two days of practice, he was able to surf alone.

While sitting on the sand, Xiao Zhan's attention was caught by the man surfing alone on the other side of the beach. Because it was far, he could not figure out what he looked like. Whether he was young, old, or whatever but he was certain that the man was tall and well built also with a white complexion. He found it cute and interesting.

Because of curiosity, Xiao Zhan took his DSLR camera beside his painting tool and took a closer look at the man surfing on the other side. Now he was able to see his face, and he was quite handsome. For an unknown reason, Xiao Zhan could not take away his gaze from the guy and he actually took a short video of him while surfing.

Suddenly, Xiao Zhan thought of something, then he stood up and went to his canvas, continued his painting, and puff! He was very satisfied.

But what's so ridiculous was that Xiao Zhan painted the surfing man on his painting! He also added the word "KING" [王 – Wang in Chinese version] in the water.

Wasn't it ridiculous and strange??

"Perfect!"

But Xiao Zhan was really satisfied. He doesn't know who the person he painted but the painting looks perfect after adding the unknown man in it. After moments of finishing touches, he left the seashore and went to the beach resort's hotel where he rented a room. He decided to go to the hotel's restaurant during the night to have dinner rather than ordering food to his room. While looking for a seat, Xiao Zhan felt dumbfounded.

Because in that same restaurant, Wang Yibo sat at the VIP table with a beautiful lady beside him. She was his girlfriend, Tin Veeh.

Tin Veeh was a model and an actress, of course, she was beautiful but there was an air of arrogance surrounding her. Especially that she was dating a powerful rich businessman in the country, huh! Of course, she should be proud!

Xiao Zhan on the other side found an empty table near the window at the corner of the restaurant. Before he finally sat down, he took a last glance at the pair sitting on the VIP table at the other side. His eyes met a pair of blue eyes who accidentally looked at him at the same time.

That face! He was the surfing man and he has a girlfriend?

Xiao Zhan took away his gaze immediately and sat on the chair. Feeling disappointed without any reason. He thought that the painting must never be revealed to anyone so that this person would never be able to discover it.

Wang Yibo fixed his gaze on the man wearing a casual black t-shirt and dark blue denim pants paired with high-cut boots and a black cap on his head. He was quite satisfied with his looks. He always dreamed of wearing casual clothes every day but he just could not because of his status.

"Do you know that man, Honey?" Tin Veeh asked Wang Yibo who was still staring at the man on the other side.

"No. But he looks familiar, I can't remember. Never mind and let's eat." Wang Yibo took away his gaze and paid attention to his girlfriend, but in his heart, he was very curious about who the man was.

Does he have some status?

Wang Yibo secretly stole glances at the man many times but he never looked back to his table again until he left the restaurant after eating. He was unsatisfied but what could he do?

He never saw the man again until he left the resort with his girlfriend.

CEO Wang Yibo stretches his body to relax after signing hundreds of documents on his table. He finally had a close deal in their company's new project. The large mall to be built in C City. And because he came from B City, he had to personally visit the place so he went to C City and then had a rest for a while at the resort he was invited by a colleague recently.

Remembering the resort, Wang Yibo automatically remembered the man in the restaurant. Until now, he was uncomfortable not knowing the person was. He was really interested, the man was handsome yet emotionless.

Could he be a spy? Or a sniper rented to kill me? But, I was an easy target during those times...

Wang Yibo wasn't ridiculed, threats for him were everywhere. Having a high status in the country also means your life was in danger. He was aware of that, but he believed that he was on guard down during his stay at the resort. He only wanted a simple vacation anyway.

Xiao Zhan looked at his wristwatch and stood up from the swivel chair. He has a conference at three PM. When the staff saw him entering the room, everybody stood up and gave respect to him. He was the CEO of the largest company in C City and recently, their company had a collaboration on the biggest empire in B City. The WANYIE Group. With this collaboration, the largest mall in C City will be built soon.

The reason for the conference was that the CEO of WANYIE Group already signed the deal and everybody in the company was grateful and looking forward to the new project.

However, both CEO never sees each other. Things like dealing with projects and such were done by the Directors of the companies. It was the last step for the projects to be signed and approved by the CEO.

After the conference, Xiao Zhan's secretary brought and handed him the pile of papers about the project, soon he dismissed her after taking the files and slowly turning every page of the project. However, his eyes were caught by the WANYIE Group CEO's signature, Wang Yibo.

Before, Xiao Zhan did not pay much attention to the CEO, especially that he was a newly appointed CEO in their company after his father transferred to his position. After all, his work was in the United States for the past eight years. He was sent there after college at the age of twenty and started dealing with their business overseas. However, his father was found out ill and could no longer proceed with his work so he was called from the United States to handle the company in China. Since he was not new to this type of work, he easily got along well.

Xiao Zhan's eyes squinted, this name sounds interesting to him. Before he realized it, his hands were already typing the name on the computer's keyboard at the table. Soon, the images of the familiar man appeared in his line of sight!

He gasped in disbelief.

With that, Wang Yibo stayed in one of the high-end five-star hotels in C City to spend three-day sightseeing on the new project. He arrived at six am in morning and decided to go to the place by ten am. He never told any of his subordinates that he would go to the project, with that, he would be able to see how his subordinates were handling the job.

Because he did not want others to notice him, Wang Yibo suddenly remembered the guy in the restaurant before. His looks were so cool and he liked it very much. Instead of proceeding to the construction site, he went to the department store and found clothes that could cover up his true identity. He did not go back to the five-star hotel, instead, he changed clothes in the nearest cheap hotel from the department store.

Wang Yibo was very satisfied. Wearing black denim fitted pants, long sleeves half gray-half black Gucci shirt, high-cut boots, and black cap...

"I'm so handsome! Damnit!"

Wang Yibo grinned while looking at the man in the mirror in front of him. He put on golden shades and puff! He looks like a model.

Wang Yibo decided to approach him anyway. Slowly and carefully, he walked in front of the handsome guy.

"Hey, you!" In the end, Wang Yibo could only say two words and his mind seemed to stop functioning.

Xiao Zhan turned to the person who approached him and knitted his eyebrows. He looked at him from head to toe.

"Yes? How can I help you?" Xiao Zhan politely asked the man in front of him.

Wang Yibo's IQ dropped to the ground, he stammered while answering, "Err... My name is Wang Dabo and I'm looking for a vacant job inside..." To make it look real, Wang Yibo pointed his finger at the construction site before he continued, "Can you in any way help me to have a job inside?"

Xiao Zhan was taken aback.

Xiao Zhan squinted his eyes and looked at the man intensely, his eyebrows knitted more because of many questions in his mind about this man.

He smirked and replied, "I don't know what jobs are vacant inside, but I'm looking for a secretary, how about that? For a change, I want a man instead of a woman and I will pay you high."

Wang Yibo blinked and was dumbfounded.

How come he ended this way?

A CEO being a secretary of another boss??

He initially just wanted to know this man's name.

"What? You don't want to be my secretary? It's fine with me, anyway too many people want that job," Xiao Zhan said and pretended to dismiss 'Wang Dabo'.

Wang Yibo being trapped, could not do anything but go with the flow. He then reached his hands to his so-called boss and said, "Please to meet you, Mr. Xiao Zhan. I will do anything I can so you won't regret hiring me."

Xiao Zhan heavily held Wang Yibo's hand in front of him. He did not show any emotions, he did not expose him. Whatever his reasons for pretending, he would find out soon.

Moments later, some construction workers went out to look for lunch at the nearest food stalls, some just sat at the shadowed place and ate from their prepared food.

Xiao Zhan was about to get inside his car when the engineer from inside the site approached him, "Mr. Xiao, it's so nice to see you here. Why didn't you come inside to have a good look at the site?"

The engineer approached Xiao Zhan with respect. He was known to them because he came from C City. The time his father announced the takeover of the position, almost all the higher-ups in C City knew about him. So he politely smiled and said, "I have something to do. I will come back the next day. Please never mind me."

The engineer nodded and bowed to him before he left.

Xiao Zhan looked at Wang Yibo and commanded him to get inside his car. The latter could not refuse so he followed Xiao Zhan and sat in the back seat.

Soon, Xiao Zhan stopped the car in front of a restaurant. He initially wants to eat at the expensive restaurant, but after he remembered that the man in his car was pretending to be poor, he stopped the car in the local restaurant. Haha.

"Come and eat with me."

"You, you actually eat in this kind of place? I mean, you are the boss so..." Wang Yibo left his words in mid-sentence. Of course, it was understandable.

Xiao Zhan looked at Wang Yibo, figuring out the disappointment and disgust in his face but he was surprised. The man did not even show any unpleasant face.

After some time of debating with his mind, Xiao Zhan finally led the way and found a vacant table at the corner of the restaurant with two-seaters.

Wang Yibo, being a secretary, pulled one of the chairs for his boss to sit and gesture 'Please' before he said, "Please, Mr. Xiao."

Xiao Zhan did not know whether to laugh or cry but he steadied his calm facial reaction and sat down on the chair Wang Yibo provided for him.

"Please sit down, Mr. Wang." He pointed to the chair opposite to him and continued, "I will let you order the food. Anything will be fine for me," Xiao Zhan said, considering the status of the man in front of him.

Wang Yibo was not a picky person at all. His very high status was only for the front so being another person in front of Xiao Zhan, he actually liked it. He became more comfortable because he always dreamed of living a simple life.

The way Wang Yibo dealt with the matter in a comfortable manner, Xiao Zhan was very satisfied. In the end, he found out that there was actually a kind personality inside of him. When he studied about WANYIE Group CEO's, all comments were about him being aloof and not so easy to approach. That he was the kind of person that could make you fall to your knees. However, the person in front of him was the opposite.

The two CEOs quietly ate.

"Mr. Wang, I want you to come with me to all of my appointments. Being inside the company or outside, so I want to know where you live? If it's very far from the company, let me know so I can provide the nearest place for you. I don't want you to be late."

Xiao Zhan offered him a convenient place, after all, he was one of the big bosses. Haha.

Wang Yibo did not know what to answer. He swallowed hard and quickly thought of an explanation.

"Are you really going to hire me as your secretary? I mean, I didn't even undergo an evaluation nor even hand in a resume. If you're hiring random people, isn't it inappropriate for you? What if I'm a bad guy?"
