Chapter 1 Free Beer Trap

"Would you like to give her a sleeping pill?"

The man in a black suit with a strong jaw pulled the corners of his lips, his gaze fixed on a beautiful girl wearing a gray hoodie and jeans sitting alone on the long sofa.

"Yes, she's my target tonight."

The young bartender nodded obediently and began to place the pills brought by the man in front of him. He then approached the girl mentioned by his loyal customer.

Agatha rested her chin in her hand, a look of exhaustion on her face. She couldn't stop thinking about the incident where she had accidentally dropped her senior's iPhone. Agatha took deep breaths to calm herself, knowing she had to come up with the compensation within a week.

As a college student in her final semester, living in a boarding house, how could she gather $1000 in such a short amount of time? So, for the first and last time, tonight Agatha decided to go to a bar to calm her mind.

"Maybe this can help you relax."

Agatha, who was daydreaming instead of being frustrated, lifted her head as soon as she saw a glass of drink placed in front of her. She instinctively salivated. It looked refreshing and tempting, satisfying her thirst to take a sip.

"A beautiful girl like you doesn't need to pay for it." The handsome bartender quipped with a friendly smile.

Agatha frowned in confusion, wondering why she suddenly received a drink when she didn't order one. But before she could say anything, the bartender had already walked away.

Agatha stared at the glass of golden yellow drink with white foam on the surface. Without even asking, a student like her already knew what kind of drink it was.

"Taking a sip won't make me drunk, right? Well, I just want to wet my throat. Besides, I shouldn't waste this free drink."

Agatha nodded to reassure herself and tried to think positively. The bartender's face didn't seem suspicious, so she thought the beer she held in her hand couldn't be dangerous.

Agatha said a prayer and took a sip of the beer. A furrow appeared on her forehead reflexively, as it didn't taste as good as she had imagined. As she placed the mostly full beer back on the table, her head suddenly started throbbing.

"Oh, my goodness. Did I just get tricked?" Agatha said, holding her head as the dizziness worsened.

Agatha leaned back against the sofa, gazing at the ceiling of the crowded bar filled with lights. She blinked, hoping that her pain would subside, but instead of diminishing, her body suddenly felt weak. The pain in her head spread and felt like it was about to explode.

"Why are my eyes so heavy?" Agatha murmured.

Jayden had been observing Agatha since earlier. Not only that, his fingers clenched tightly when he saw the man targeting Agatha had a cunning idea. He was very familiar with that despicable man's behavior.

"Do you want to help that girl?" Jayden's secretary, who was sitting next to him, asked. She noticed her boss's gaze.

"Take her to the empty apartment."

Jayden clenched his jaw, staring sharply at the man next to the bartender who was now laughing. It seemed that he didn't realize Jayden's presence there. And that was an opportunity for him to act immediately.

"Before that scumbag touches her," Jayden added firmly. He stood up from his seat and took wide strides to approach Agatha.

"Your target has been taken, Boss."

From a distance, the handsome bartender realized that Jayden was going to ruin his client's plan. He widened his eyes and instinctively stood up. The mastermind, seeing Jayden, gritted his teeth.

He quickly walked because his girl was about to be taken by the enemy. His eyebrows furrowed in frustration as the crowded bar hindered his path.

On the other side, Agatha felt that her surroundings were blurry and spinning. She tried to blink her eyes repeatedly, but the urge to close her eyelids grew stronger.

Agatha couldn't even see clearly when two men now stood in front of her. Unconsciously, she had already closed her eyes because her drowsiness was getting worse.

"Call a waitress and tell her to take this girl to the car, I'll take care of those two rats," Jayden ordered, which was promptly acknowledged by his secretary. Luckily, he arrived earlier than the perpetrator.

Jayden sat himself next to the sleeping Agatha, observing the girl intently. Her appearance was different from the other women in this bar, but for some reason, something strange stirred in his heart.

He didn't know the girl's name yet, but since earlier, the urge to protect her had been pushing his mind forward.

It didn't take long for two waitresses to arrive and gently carry Agatha out. At that moment, the two men finally arrived. Jayden stood up and blocked their path with his muscular body and outstretched arms. His secretary also grabbed the bartender's arm.

"Damn it! Let go of that girl! She's mine!"

Jayden laughed sarcastically upon hearing the disgusting confession from the man he recognized. "Do you think she would like you? Besides, isn't she just an ordinary girl? Why have your standards become so low?"

"I have everything that women desire! She won't reject my charm! And one more thing! To me, all women are the same! They're just gold diggers!"

Ethan, the upper-class playboy, managed to brush off Jayden's restraining arm. Without hesitation, he grabbed Jayden's shirt collar. His eyes appeared red from holding back his anger.

Jayden remained silent and had no intention of fighting back. He deliberately sought the attention of the people in the bar. A handsome man who is desired by many to fight with him would surely be a more interesting spectacle.

As Ethan's hand was raised, Jayden pulled the corner of his lip and whispered, "Won't your reputation be ruined if you hit me? The women here will also be afraid of you."

Ethan widened his eyes for a moment, before growling loudly and forcefully throwing Jayden's body. "You damn stepbrother!"

Jayden sighed as he straightened his disheveled shirt. He smiled satisfactorily as he watched Cakra turn around and leave the bar. Jayden then turned to the young bartender who was held by his secretary.

"What did he give her?" Jayden asked his gaze flat with a cold aura.

"That ... was a sleeping pill."

Jayden nodded, his guess was correct. He then patted the bartender's shoulder and let him go. The people who had witnessed the tense situation returned to their respective activities. Meanwhile, Jayden hurried to his car to check on the condition of the girl he had saved earlier.

"Are you going to take this girl to your apartment?" Rey, Jayden's secretary, started the car engine.

Jayden glanced at Agatha, who was sound asleep in the back seat. It was only a few seconds before he looked ahead again. "I don't know where she lives."

Rey nodded in understanding, then started driving towards the destination mentioned by Jayden. "What if Layla finds out that you're bringing a woman?"

Upon hearing the question, Jayden immediately turned and gave a sharp look. "Is she going to sleep with me? Don't be ridiculous. I told you to find another empty room."

Rey instinctively scratched his neck and smiled innocently. Then suddenly, he remembered something. "But why did you save her, Boss? Aren't you interested in women?"

Jayden rubbed his throbbing temple. Somehow, he must have sinned in the past to have such a nosy secretary like Reyhan. "Can you please stop being nosy?"

Rey nodded in understanding, and after a few seconds, he pulled the corners of his lips curiously. "Could it be that you like her?"

Chapter 2 Woke Up in Apartment

"Shut your mouth or I'll fire you right now!"

Rey immediately sealed his lips tightly, not daring to argue. His children and wife at home wouldn't be able to live comfortably if it weren't for him working with Jayden.

It was better for him to focus on driving and maintain a silent atmosphere in the car until they arrived at a towering apartment building.

"Uh, Boss. Sorry. I have to answer the phone, can you take the girl inside first?" Rey opened the door for Jayden while holding his ringing phone.

Jayden sighed and got out of the car. "Who's calling you?"

"My wife, Boss."

That answer softened Jayden's heart. He couldn't refuse if it was related to a wife or mother. Jayden took a slow breath before opening the back door to carry Agatha into the apartment.

"How many vacant rooms are there?" Jayden asked after carrying Agatha in a bridal style. He wrapped her arms around his neck to prevent her from falling.

Rey looked at Jayden with sparkling eyes, happy to have received permission. "Number 24, Boss."

Jayden frowned for a moment. "Isn't that next to my room?"

"Ah, yes. It happens to be vacant there. I thought you could also keep an eye on the girl if anything happens to her," Rey replied calmly.

Jayden wanted to be annoyed, but he chose not to say anything and simply walked past Rey. After all, it was not impossible that Jayden himself had the same thought as Rey. The girl in his arms ... he had wanted to protect her from the beginning.

Rey smiled and immediately answered his phone, while Jayden hurried into the apartment and took the elevator. Since this apartment was his own, Jayden could use a different elevator, the VVIP one. After a while, he finally arrived on the same floor where his room was located.

"I hope tomorrow this girl doesn't remember anything," Jayden said silently to himself as he rubbed a card and the door to the room in front of him opened.

Jayden entered and headed towards one of the rooms near the living room. He carefully laid Agatha's body on the spacious and soft bed. Afterward, Jayden let out a sigh of relief. While Agatha was in his arms earlier, Jayden's heartbeat could be considered abnormal.

"She reminds me of a little girl from the past." Jayden stared closely at Agatha's still-sleeping face. But then he quickly shook his head.

"No, I must be remembering wrong."

Jayden took a deep breath to dismiss his uncertain memories. He looked at the watch on his wrist, then turned around to leave the room. But as he reached the doorway, a faint voice suddenly entered his ears.

"Mom ... Dad ... don't leave ...."

Jayden reluctantly stopped in his tracks. He turned around again, seeing the girl tossing and turning in her sleep. Sweat dripped from her temples, her eyebrows furrowed, and her lips moved silently. Jayden's feet inexplicably moved closer.

"Where are your parents?" Jayden whispered, sitting himself at the edge of the bed, gazing at Agatha's face once again.

Unexpectedly, Agatha, who was lying down, suddenly shifted her body and tightly held onto Jayden's arm. Jayden flinched reflexively.

With her eyes closed, the girl pleaded for him not to leave. Over and over again, until it made Jayden unable to bear it. Just as Jayden was about to touch her face, he snapped back to reality.

Jayden shook his head vigorously. "No. I have to leave before something happens."

Jayden gently released Agatha's hand and stood up. The girl was still in a state of delirium. But Jayden tried not to care. It was a better decision than ending up doing something crazy beyond his sanity.

Jayden blocked out his hearing and hurried out of the room. He closed the door carefully and roughly wiped his face.

"I'm truly going insane," Jayden muttered, now outside room number 24.

Morning arrived, and Agatha woke up upon hearing her phone ringing loudly, indicating an incoming call. Despite feeling a headache, Agatha reached for her phone in her pocket. Just as the phone touched her ear, someone's voice on the other end was already deafening.

"Agatha, don't oversleep! We have morning classes today, you know! Be careful not to be late! I won't treat you to lunch if you're late!"

The call was abruptly ended. Agatha stared at the phone screen displaying the name 'Olivia' with a tired gaze. Her only friend during her time at the campus, being so attentive to the point of calling her early in the morning just to say that instead of waking her up.

Agatha initially intended to place her phone on the nightstand, but suddenly she felt something strange here. As far as Agatha remembered, there was no nightstand next to her bed, but rather a study desk. Also, the bed she was sitting on now felt very soft and big, unlike the one she usually slept on.

"Wait, where am I?" Agatha fell silent for a moment, then looked around at the unfamiliar surroundings, and instantly her eyes widened.

"Oh my goodness! This is not my room!" Agatha exclaimed as she got off the bed.

"Why am I here?"

Agatha hurriedly opened the bedroom door. Once again, she was shocked by what she saw now. A spacious room. There was a kitchen, a bathroom, a dining table, and even a TV room.

This was not her cramped boarding house, with a leaky roof and faded paint on some parts of the walls.

"What happened last night?" Agatha murmured in confusion. She sat down on the sofa in front of the TV.

Agatha took a deep breath, the only thing she could remember in part of her brain was when she received a free drink, then suddenly her head started spinning, and then two people came, for whatever reason.

And Agatha didn't know what happened afterward. If she had been trapped, she should have woken up without a single piece of clothing.

But if it's possible that she fainted and was rescued, Agatha should be grateful. But the problem is, who brought her here?

"It must not be just anyone who can rent this place just to lay my unconscious body."

Agatha wanted to remember what happened last night, but when she looked at the watch on her wrist, she couldn't linger there for too long.

Agatha didn't want to worry about it, the most important thing is that her body is still safe and intact, so she decided to forget about this incident. If she ever meets the person who saved her, Agatha will repay the favor.

Agatha stood up and hurriedly left the luxurious room. Passing through a quite long corridor, she saw numbered doors on both sides. The floor she walked on was sparkling.

But Agatha didn't want to be captivated for too long, she had to find the elevator to go down. Unfortunately, before reaching the elevator door, she instead saw a small altercation.

Agatha chose to stand at a distance and wait for someone or a security guard to intervene. Agatha also thought that she had no right to interfere in their affairs.

"You little brat! What did you do to my dress?" a woman shouted angrily.

The little girl in front of her lowered her head while holding an ice cream stick. "I-I'm sorry, Aunt."

"Because of you, my dress is dirty like this!" The woman wearing a knee-length dress pointed out the stain on her dress.

"Aunt also blocked my way," the little girl replied, bravely lifting her head.

Agatha was stunned by the child and secretly smiled in admiration. But when the rough woman raised her hand as if to hit, Agatha instantly widened her eyes and ran towards them.

"How dare you answer me? You rude child! You-"

"Hey, don't be rough with a little child!" Agatha shouted and caught the woman's arm in front of her in one swift motion.

Chapter 3 Is $700 Enough

"Who are you? Don't interfere! This child needs to be taught a lesson so they'll learn!"

The woman glared and grew more emotional. But Agatha wasn't afraid, she stared back sharply. Meanwhile, the little girl hid behind Agatha's body. Agatha then reached out, took the girl's hand, and held it tightly to make her feel safe and not afraid.

"What did this child do wrong that you're being so harsh? Can't you advise her more gently?" Agatha released her grip when she felt that the situation could still be resolved without violence.

The woman rubbed her sore arm and huffed in annoyance. "The dress I'm wearing is very expensive! I only wore it once, but she dirtied it and refuses to admit it!"

Agatha rolled her eyes in exasperation. "So just because of that, you're yelling at this child and even wanting to hit her? Where is your conscience as a woman?"

"Don't pretend to advise me, and let me teach that child a lesson!" Once again, the woman growled in frustration and refused to back down.

"She already apologized. Isn't that enough? The dirt on your clothes can still be cleaned with water." Agatha snorted, glancing at the woman's slightly dirty attire.

"I have to hit her so she learns her lesson and doesn't repeat her mistake! She also needs to be more careful!"

Agatha sighed wearily. She didn't expect to encounter a woman of this kind. "If that's the case, just hit me instead. After that, you can leave. How about that?"

The woman with red lipstick seemed to think for a moment before smirking. "Fine, if that's what you want."

"Auntie, please don't. I beg you."

Agatha felt a gentle tug and instinctively turned her head. The girl beside her was looking at her with concern, and Agatha suddenly felt touched. But she wouldn't give in. Agatha then gently stroked the head of the beautiful little girl.

"Don't worry. Auntie is strong, it will only feel like an ant bite," Agatha said softly. When the little girl frowned in disbelief, Agatha chuckled and ruffled her hair.

Not far from the argument, Jayden, who had just finished a phone call with his office manager, was startled to see Layla with a girl. After all, his precious daughter had never wanted to be close to any woman before.

Jayden quickly approached them, and when he arrived, he was shocked to realize that the person holding Layla's hand was the woman he brought from the bar the previous night. And what ignited his emotions even more was seeing a woman about to harm her.

"What's going on here?"

The woman's raised hand, ready to strike Agatha, instantly froze when a heavy voice suddenly sounded. Reflexively, Agatha turned her head and saw a handsome man in a suit standing next to her.

Agatha was stunned for a few seconds before she snapped out of it and grabbed the woman's hand. "Quick, hit me first so we can resolve this issue quickly."

Jayden turned sharply, immediately grabbing Agatha's arm. "Wait? What are you doing?"

Agatha was taken aback and then struggled to find her words as the man in front of her was incredibly captivating. Feeling his undeniable aura, Agatha slowly lowered her hand.

"Who are you? Do you want to interfere again?"

Jayden then shifted his gaze coldly towards the woman in front of him. "Can you explain what happened first?"

"That child is the cause." The woman pointed at Layla, her frustration evident. Jayden instinctively clenched his jaw.

"She spilled ice cream on my expensive dress but refused to admit it and was rude. Then the woman next to her asked me to hit her instead. Are you going to defend her too?" The woman explained fervently. Agatha clenched her fist by her side to refrain from hitting the woman's mouth.

"How much is your dress worth?" Jayden asked, already fed up.

"This dress is a limited edition. I bought it overseas."

The tone of that damn woman sounded arrogant. Agatha wanted to slap her. If it weren't for the man next to her, Agatha wouldn't have been able to hold back. Secretly, Agatha glanced at him to see his response, but she frowned as he took out his phone and started typing something.

"Send me your bank account number, is $700 enough?" Jayden offered without hesitation. Instead of the problem dragging on, he thought the woman would appreciate the money.

Agatha, who heard that, spontaneously opened her mouth wide, staring at the handsome man with wide eyes. How could he give away that much money just like that? Seven hundred dollars could even sustain her for months to come.

A small smirk immediately appeared on the woman's lips. With a pleased expression, she showed a series of numbers on her phone. "You should have offered that earlier."

Jayden finished sending the money. True enough, the money-hungry woman could leave immediately and the problem was resolved. Jayden finally let out a tired sigh. Then he felt a small tug on his shirt. It was Anna.

"Daddy."

Agatha was startled to hear that call. Her heart felt like it was being thrown far away. This young-looking man turns out to be the father of the little girl next to her. Agatha cursed herself for falling in love at first sight.

Jayden crouched down in front of Layla and then smiled. "Layla, are you okay?"

Layla nodded while looking towards Agatha. "Auntie saved me. She's very kind and cool."

Jayden also looked up. Agatha cleared her throat as he looked at her, then smiled awkwardly. "Ah, it's nothing. I just don't like seeing little kids being bullied."

Jayden ruffled Layla's hair while smiling. "Thank you. You're the first person praised by Layla."

"R-really?" Agatha widened her eyes. Jayden nodded with a faint smile.

Layla turned her body, facing Agatha. She pulled the corners of her lips, then extended her tiny hand. "I'm Layla, what's your name, Auntie? Can we be friends?"

Agatha giggled softly, unable to resist crouching down and aligning her body with Layla's. She pinched the chubby cheeks of the girl before shaking Layla's hand in return.

"My name is Agatha. Nice to meet you, Layla. From now on, we are friends."

Layla's eyes instantly lit up. Her face was beaming. "Yay! I have a new friend! Nice to meet you, beautiful Aunt Agatha!"

Agatha laughed and gently tousled Layla's hair. She had always loved children. Seeing them happy was one of her motivations. On the other hand, Jayden, although happy, was also puzzled because Layla had never been this happy when meeting a stranger.

Jayden's heart suddenly felt touched. He was instantly filled with admiration as he witnessed the interaction between Agatha and Layla. Agatha, the woman he saved from his stepbrother, did she remember what happened last night?

"When can we play, Auntie? I feel so lonely because Daddy prefers to work. He's annoying and not fun," Layla complained. Her lips pouted cutely. Agatha chuckled. She didn't expect to receive a play invitation so soon.

Jayden, who suddenly realized, frowned. "Hey, why are you saying that, Layla? Don't we play every day?"

"Just a few seconds, then Daddy gets busy with his laptop again. So I end up playing alone," Layla grumbled in annoyance. Agatha laughed. Layla's frustrated expression was adorable.

Jayden let out a soft sigh. He couldn't deny the truth in Layla's words. He also couldn't deny that Layla did need someone to play with when he was working.

"Where is your mommy, Layla? Can't you play with her?" Agatha asked curiously. Unbeknownst to her, Jayden was hiding his clenched fist.
