May Sanders
My name is May Sanders and I have very busy parents. They are never at home. I have two best friends, Kara and Connor. I never had a boyfriend not because I didn't want to but nobody just seemed to like me.
"Who would want someone like me?" I always lament. "Probably someone who isn't fun or beautiful." I couldn't find anything attractive about me, even my parents don't seem to want me.
The cool breeze that gently touched my skin made me smile. I really loved the weather. It is perfect for the season.
I took a good look at the field again. I wonder why it still feels empty.
You are empty, the voice in my head said. I believe it.
The chatter from the students filled my ears indicated that the beautiful field was starting to get filled up as school started.
I've never had an interest in games but my best friend plays them. I support him in this decision.
I sneezed when dust from the chairs which had not been used for six months was blown into my face by the wind.
"She's so dumb. She doesn't belong here." The shrill voice of Janet fills my ears. My hands balled into fists. The urge to punch her was nearly overwhelming but I don't have the nerve. Pathetic, right?
"She looks like she wanna hit you," Janet's annoying best friend, Tori, scoffed.
I've always wondered how the two of them get along.
"Nah," Janet laughed. Tori joined her high-pitched cackle.
"What's going on, babe?" I heard a very familiar voice say.
"Nothing much. This attention seeking bitch just doesn't know her place," she complained bitterly to her boyfriend, Dash Royals.
He was the cliché bad boy that dated the bitch of the school. Smoking hot. I wouldn't deny that he's handsome but the way he keeps up with Janet is what I don't seem to get.
"She isn't worth it," he reassured, giving her a kiss and coaxing an irritating giggle from her.
We were all on the field watching the football match between our school and Royal Bells High School.
As usual, I was sitting on my own. My gaze flicked to the popular clique of the school.
I stared at a certain somebody with a beautifully sculpted face, defined jawline and pink lips that I really wish I could taste to find out how soft they are.
He has gorgeous brown hair.
The perfect eye colour, green.
His smile sweeps me off my feet. That person turns out to be Hayden Smith.
My best friend, Connor, happens to be in this clique. I just don't fit in, as expected.
I saw Dash, Hayden and Noah stand up and move towards me.
A blush unconsciously appeared on my cheeks at the thought of Hayden being this close to me.
The laughter behind me told me they were situated behind me. Dash wasn't playing in this game because he got into a fight two weeks ago. I find the authorities stupid for doing this.
I mean, this guy is the best player on the team. I don't like him for any reason but I know he has the best skills. The authorities should have found another punishment that doesn't risk the reputation of the school.
I heard from Kara that he slept with a girl and it was caught on tape from the school laboratory's camera. Apparently, he got into a fight with the girl's boyfriend.
Who even has sex in a place that's not a room? Obviously people like him.
He isn't to play in the next two matches. He kinda deserves though.
The fact that my best friend was a footballer didn't make Dash my friend. It's not like I even wanted to be friends with him.
I heard them laughing and smiled when I heard Hayden's voice. I have had a crush on him since forever.
I find him really cute. Besides, he doesn't seem like a jerk unlike his friends.
I don't know why. Maybe my crush on him has prevented me from seeing any flaws in him.
I wondered why they were laughing but I ignored it. They were probably making fun of someone. That someone might even be me. I really didn't want to know.
A few minutes later, I felt someone tap my shoulder. I turned around, not expecting lips to immediately be pressed to mine. Turns out, it was Dash Royals.
He fucking kissed me. WHAT? All his friends were laughing, including my crush, Hayden. That's what hurt the most, not the fact that my first kiss was stolen by someone I despised.
I stood up hurriedly and ran out of the field, ignoring the judging looks I was getting. Emotions crashed into me like waves. Anger, pain, disgust, humiliation. The whole stadium just saw me get kissed my Dash fucking Royals.
I couldn't even explain how I felt.
I always imagined my first kiss to be romantic and with somebody I loved. This kiss was far from romantic.
What did I expect? It's Dash. He didn't care about anybody other than himself. I know I don't like Dash and I'll never like him. Not now, never in the future.
I'm sure it was a dare.
I'm angry that I can't do anything right. Who does he think he is? That he can just kiss me and then laugh about it.
That's not fair and there's nothing I could do about it. Who am I? I'm a low life nobody that no one liked or knew except for her best friends. My parents being rich didn't even make me loved.
Nobody loved someone like me. Who would? I dashed to the nearest place I found private enough and cried.

"May, please don't do anything wrong."
That was my best friend Connor talking to me after the incident. He is always there for me even when my parents weren't. I was told not to do anything bad, not like I could even if I wanted to.
"I won't but he didn't have the right to kiss me without my permission," I sobbed.
I'm crying because he didn't have to humiliate me that much. Even if he hated me so much he didn't have to embarrass me like that. He fucking kissed me and laughed it off.
"May, I love you. You know I hate seeing you this way," Connor said sympathetically.
I gave a small smile. He has been my best friend since fourth grade. I can't imagine life without him.
"Okay...I love you too, Conner," I replied. He gave me a grin in return.
"I'm sure you know I love you more." Connor kissed my forehead.
"See you after the match?" he asked.
"Yeah. Now go out there and make me proud." He knows exactly how to cheer me up.
"Yes ma'am." He saluted and left, laughing. I don't want any attention, so I'm just staying here until the game is over. I fished my phone out of my pocket and started playing a game when a message popped on my screen. It was Kara. She's also my friend. There are three people in our clique.
Kara: r u coming over tonight?
Me: yeah
Kara: ok
Kara: later then
I continued playing my game.
"Look who we have here!" I heard Janet's voice.
How did she even find me?
"Who is it?" Tori asked.
"Who else? The attention-seeking bitch, duh." Janet sounded annoyed. What have I done this time?
"How dare you kiss my boyfriend and humiliate me in front of the whole school."
I scoffed. Kiss her boyfriend? Really? This girl is so pathetic.
"Me, kiss your boyfriend? He kissed me, not the other way round," I explained slowly as if I was talking to a baby.
"You expect me to believe that my baby will kiss a low life like you. Nobody even wants you around." Janet snorted, flipping her hair over her shoulder.
"I heard her parents don't even want her," Tori chipped in with a smirk.
"Janet, I didn't kiss Dash, okay? He kissed me," I tried explaining it again but she just wouldn't have any of it.
"I. Don't. Care. I just don't want you near my man." She pointed a finger at me, enunciating each word.
"Okay," I responded quietly. I don't want anything to do with him.
She huffed and flipped her hair for the second time.
"Let's go," she ordered Tori and Tori followed her.

Connor
Why would Dash do that to May? I left her in the toilet to continue the game. We eventually won the match. I walked over to Dash and the others.
"Hey, man," he greeted me.
"Why did you do that to May?" I asked.
"Do what? Who the hell is May?" He smirked.
Oh, God. If I could punch that smirk off his face, I would.
"The girl you kissed." I seethed.
"It was a dare, dude. Chill."
"I swear to God if you touch her after today I'll-"
I was cut off by Noah. "'It's just a game."
"Fuck off," I spat, glaring at him.
"I swear to God, she's not my type," he said before leaving. I took out my phone and texted May to meet me at the car park.
Damn Dash and his stupid games.

Another beep from my phone. It was from Connor. I left the bathroom and went to meet him at the car park. When I saw him, he looked annoyed.
"What's wrong?" I asked him worriedly.
"Nothing. Get in the car," was his reply. We got in his car and he drove out of the car park.
"Are you going home?" he asked.
"No, Kara's," I responded. He looked scared or even...angry.
"Do you want to tell me what's wrong?" I questioned.
"About what?" he said distractedly, concentrating on the road.
I sighed and looked at him.
"You and Kara..." I drifted off.
"What about us?"
"Tell me what's going on," I demanded firmly.
"Nothing is wrong." He said. I don't believe him. He might act tough all the time but on the inside, he is a softie.
"But-"
He interrupted me. "Please, drop it."
I nodded then texted Kara.
Me: im reaching soon
Kara: what movie you wanna watch?
Me: twilight?
Kara: we've seen that movie like a zillion times
Me: so?
Kara: whatever 🙄
Me: i hate you
Kara: I hate you more bitch
I closed my phone, smiling.
"Why are you smiling like that?" I heard Connor ask but I ignored him. Did he really think I would forget what he had done?
"I'm sorry, May," he apologized. Much better. I like this game. He gave me a puppy face. Ugh, those cute eyes and lips.
"Okay, whatever." I rolled my eyes.
We were driving into Kara's house. Conner looked like he would burst anytime. I'm really concerned about him. Something is wrong and he's not telling me.
"What's your problem?" He asked rudely while parking the car. "Are you not coming inside?"
"No, I have to go home and do some stuff."
But...the three of us always stayed together. Things have changed.
"Alright, can you at least follow me to the door?"
"Fine."
We both got out of the car. I knocked on the door of Kara's house and she appeared. She squealed and pulled me into a bear hug, not noticing Conner behind me.
"Why are you so happy?" I asked curiously.
"Nothing." She glanced behind me and her smile faded.

"Oh. Hey." Kara said like she was forced to talk.
What's going on?
"Hey," Connor replied. "Uh, I have to go now. I'll see you later, May." He waved goodbye before entering his car.
Kara pulled me inside the house and released a breath. "I have everything ready but you have to shower and change into one of my tops and joggers, okay?" She continued as if nothing just happened.
"Yeah, sure." I nodded and went upstairs.
Her parents are in France on a vacation for now. They don't have her time for her just like how my parents don't have time for me.

Kara
I saw Connor with May. Why did he bring her?
"Oh. Hey." I greeted half-heartedly. My smile faded. He looked at me with a sad expression. I feel so guilty now. I won't deny that I miss him.
I don't know why I did what I did. I wish I hadn't because I really miss him even though I won't admit it. At least not for now.
"Hey," he replied.
The images started coming back. Us...together. I shook my head. He entered his car while I pulled May in and told her what to do. Suddenly, I heard the doorbell ring.
"Oh, pizza's here!" I said to no one.
I opened the door, ready to greet the delivery guy. But...no. No, no, no. Not now. Not now, please. Conner. I thought he left?
"Yeah, I wanted to but my car broke down." He scratched his neck sheepishly. Oops, I said it out loud.
"Oh." I swallowed, heat creeping up my neck.
"Are you going to let me in? It's already starting to rain. My clothes are wet and it's cold, so..."
"Y-yeah, sure. Sorry." I moved out of the way to let him in.
"I'll get you a towel and a shirt. The guest room is empty. You can stay if you want."
"Okay." He left.
I went to bring one of his shirts from my wardrobe and his joggers. Oh, and a towel. Don't ask me why I had his shirt.
I knocked on the door.
"I'm coming!" I heard his voice from the other side of the door. That dreamy voice always sweeps me off my feet. The door opened to reveal a shirtless Connor. Totally not what I was expecting. I froze and stared at him.
"The towel." He smirked. He had caught me staring at him. This is harder than I thought. I blush, embarrassed.
"Sorry." I coughed awkwardly and smiled in humiliation. I handed him the towel, joggers, and the shirt.
"You still have this?" He looked surprised and glad.
"Act-"
I was cut off when May called me. "Sorry, I have to go."
"Okay." He was about to close the door but continued, "Oh, and Kara. Thanks for allowing me to stay." He grinned.
"No problem," I said and left. I went to find May in the living room.
"Connor's here," I announced as I entered the room. She gave me a questioning look.
"Yeah, his car broke down so..." I answered her unasked question.
"Oh."
I went to get the popcorn while May was inserting the movie disk. We both sat down on the floor as the movie started.
Connor came out of the room. "Twilight?" he asked.
May and I turned to look at him. "Yes. It was Kara's idea." She shrugged. He looked at me and smirked. We continued watching the movie.
A few minutes later, the doorbell sounded again.
"I'll get it." I stood up. I opened the door.
"Hey," I said to the pizza guy. He was actually cute in a way. He had blue eyes and black hair. He was kinda small which made him look cute.
"Evening." He smirked and handed me the pizza.
I was about to pay before he said, "You're beautiful."
"Thanks," I replied politely.
"Can I have your number?" he asked.
That wouldn't do any harm. I was about to give it to him when Conner leaned on the wall behind me.
"The only thing you'll get from here is your ass being kicked out," Conner gave an evil grin. The pizza guy looked pretty scared.
"Who are you? Her big brother?" He said, trying to play it cool. Connor stepped in front of me, so he was facing him directly.
"Hell, no! I'm her boyfriend so get your ass out of here before I do it myself." He said angrily, in a dangerous tone. To be honest, Connor could definitely beat him up because he was more physically built.
"I would like to watch you do that," the pizza guy challenged. Oh, no. This won't end well. I decided to resolve the situation. I moved closer to Connor and placed my hand on his chest.
"Connor, it's fine. He just wants my number. There is no harm in it," I said as calmly as I could. I was really angry but I don't want this to escalate any further.
"Wow. You need your boyfriend's permission to go out with someone else. Pathetic," he mocked. Connor moved me aside.
"That's it. I will not have you talking to my girl like that."
Conner pulled him by his collar and punched him in the nose. I'm sure he broke it. The pizza guy punched him in his stomach. That did more damage to him than it did to Connor. Connor angrily pushed him on the floor and continuously punched him.
"Stay. Away. From. My. Girlfriend." He said each word between punches.
"Stop!" I shouted. Connor stood up immediately giving the pizza guy the chance to run away. When the pizza guy left I turned to Connor angrily. I should be happy he stood up for me but I don't want him thinking things would change between us.
"Why did you do that?" I asked angrily.
"Because I needed to." He shrugged like he didn't just almost kill someone.
"You don't need to. You're no longer my boyfriend." I fumed.
"Kara..."
"Don't say my name and don't interfere with my business. I don't need your help."
"I still love you. Nothing will ever change that," he admitted.
I really wanted to turn around and kiss him, to tell him how much I loved him too. "Just leave me be," I left him standing at the entrance. I took the pizza to my room.
"What took you so long?" May
asked.
"Nothing. Let's keep watching the movie," I said, faking a smile. I think May needs to know but I can't tell her now.
I kinda felt bad for snapping at him. I remembered when Connor and I just started dating and caught a boy trying to hit on me, he beat the living shit out of that boy.
