Clara
"I don't want her here, have you thought about my reputation?" my mom hissed as I hid behind a pillar and saw her arguing with my dad.
"She's not a 'thing', she's our daughter and of course she'll live with us." Dad retorted, straightening his coat.
"I don't want her to live here. We'll be fighting if she's less than a day away." She spat, and tears instantly stung my eyes. I bit my lip and closed my eyes.
"She'll be here, I don't want any arguments. I'm going to a meeting." My dad glared at her.
"I don't promise to be nice to her," my mother yelled, stomping her way to her room. I saw Dad sighed, shook his head to the left, and left the house.
I stood there wondering if my decision to come back was the right one.
I know I am an intruder in this home. I have lived with my grandmother in the country since I was born, until today, my father took me back to them. But it seems like I never belonged here.
I was full of anticipation, thinking that I would be greeted with hugs and kisses from my parents, and a welcome from my brothers and sisters.
However, none of this is what I expected.
My mother, the way she looked at me like I was a disgusting slug on a rainy day made her despise.
I clenched my fists , and suddenly felt that the place was cramped , and my breathing slowed down. The urge to escape ran rampant in my heart.
I try my best not to let my tears flow down, it's not my fault.
Pushing open the door, I ran out.
I don't know where I'm going, but as long as it's not here.
Anywhere is fine.
After a while, I was tired and out of breath.
This whole body of flesh has become my obstacle. I wanted to run farther and let go of my displeasure, but my size wouldn't allow it.
For the first time, I hated my obesity.
I was relieved with the cold wind blowing in my face and my hair flying behind me, giving me a sense of freedom.
I'm glad she didn't notice I was there when she was talking to him.
That just made me more embarrassed.
I stumbled back a few steps tired , well, I am so big that I tend to lose my center of gravity, just when I thought I was about to fall backwards , a hand wrapped around my arm and supported me.
Thank goodness I didn't fall over and embarrass myself in front of strangers on my first day in this new city.
"Are you okay?" A male voice said rudely, and I suddenly looked up at him.
Damn time has stopped.
The female part of me has an urge to scream when I see a Greek god in front of me.
If anyone thinks perfection never exists, I'll push that person's picture to that person and dump them.
I could gaze forever into those emerald eyes that have captured my heart and made it beat faster. When my skin got goosebumps, tingling erupted where he touched me, he immediately moved his hand away as if my touch disgusted him, and took a step back.
I, who was full of gratitude in my heart, was annoyed by his actions.
"Excuse me." I raised my voice, knowing my apology didn't sound kind, and that's what I meant.
"You 're not excused." He snapped at me, making me want to punch him in the handsome face.
It really has a beautiful skin.
I was so blind, I thought he was handsome just now?
"You don't have to be rude," I said, my voice lower than before.
"If you have any opinion on my rudeness, go away, I don't care." He said in a cold voice that sent shivers down my spine. I blame it on the cold weather and the shorts I was wearing.
"I don't know if you pig are dreaming, like someone is going to kill you. If you have eyes, you can see me in the middle of the road." He said arrogantly, stepping forward to threaten I.
I was startled by his momentum , I immediately took a step back.
"If you see me running in your direction, you should move away, " I replied, holding my head up and not wanting to flinch.
"Do you really think you can stop right away? Look at you. If I hadn't given you a hand, I'd probably be crushed by this hundreds of pounds of flesh, " he said, going from head to toe Scanning my body as if examining me, heat rose to my cheeks, then looked away immediately.
This is nothing short of insulting!
My face became hot, and I knew that my face must be as red as a dye.
The surrounding discussions made my head lower and lower.
"You are really unreasonable..." I protested in a low voice.
As he took a step forward in my direction, his eyes darkened and my feet forgot to move. " My unreasonableness doesn't affect my life. I don't need your opinion. Now get the hell out of here and don't affect my mood. " He spat.
" Why should I go? Is this the road built by your family? " I was about to lose my composure and moaned in my heart.
"I'm leaving you only because I'm in a hurry. Orelse Ashton Monroe won't let you go so easily next time. You better be good and get out before I do! " he growled like a beast, flashing Fear rushed into my blood.
I don't know how I left, I was not wrong, but I walked away with shame.
Are people in the city so unreasonable and arrogant?
The vibrating phone interrupted my thoughts.
I grab the vibrating phone, slide the green button, and hold it close to my ear. "Where the hell have you been?" Mom screamed, making me sigh.
"I ran away, isn't this what you want ?" I asked, my voice very soft, hoping she would refuse.
"Don't let your daddy think I dumped you" she yelled, making me step away from my phone in horror.
Half an hour later, I arrived home out of breath. I wiped the sweat off my face and went in to find her sitting on the sofa in the living room.
Instead of satisfying her ego, I walked straight to my room without hearing her shout.
----
The next morning, I quickly got ready in my hoodie and leggings, and grabbed my car keys, bag, phone, and my cards before leaving.
I grabbed a maid's sandwich from the aisle and walked to my car, speeding through my college, trying to get there on time.
I parked the car in the parking lot and walked through the main entrance of Ravenwood High School. I needed to find out where the administration building was before I was late and the cafeteria was the first thing I saw.
I went there to find my brother standing in the hallway, and a smile instantly formed on my lips, but it came and went as fast as it came.
He was talking to someone and his eyes wandered around and then settled on me. He looked around again, then smirked at someone I didn't see.
William strode up to me and put his arms around my neck and kissed my temples and I nearly had a heart attack.
Now all eyes are on us, and someone even started recording. what happened? "This is Clara. My beautiful sister." He announced to me with an evil smile before walking away.
I also heard him call me a bitch last night!
Clara
I turned my head to see that everyone had turned off the tape, or said something cheerfully, and then I turned my gaze to the man William had smirked before.
When I saw him, most of my heart screamed in fear and my heart was shaking.
Dark blonde-brown hair perfectly framed, jaw clenched, hands clenched, black T-shirt and black jeans giving off an air of mystery, hotter than yesterday. His emerald eyes were in a deeper shade, and his eyes were full of emotion that would send my heart into a marathon.
And this emotion is definitely not a good thing. If I remember correctly, it was anger and hatred. He walked up to me in strides, and everyone's attention turned to me again.
My heart beat fast when he came towards me.
I don't know what to say to him, but I don't want him to know that I'm scared. So I looked up and he was standing in front of me, arms folded across his chest, staring at me.
I raised my eyebrows and said nothing.
"Didn't know you were his sister" he said angrily, his voice sending shivers down my spine.
"Do you know what the biggest mistake of your life is?" Ashton asked, his voice so venomous that I found myself overwhelmed.
I shook my head no and he had a sinister smirk that made him look even more dangerous and hot.
"You're William Hughes' sister. That gives me the right to hurt you and make you cry. Get ready honey, I'm going to turn your heaven into hell." His smile gave me goosebumps .
" Why do you think I have to bear all the things you give me ?" I boldly responded to his provocation , but my mind was already waving red flags .
God must have played a big joke on me by giving me such a demon on my first day of school.
"You'll take what I want you to take. Why? Just because I'm Orelse Ashton Monroe." He stopped beside me.
"Just because you're William's sister , what's the point of me getting revenge on him without hurting you?" He whispered slowly in my ear, then backed away, and I looked at him completely numb. He walked away a few steps, then turned to wink at me.
"She didn't do anything, and she was spotted by the most popular man in the school." Someone murmured.
"Clearly shows what a slut she is , " said another, my cheeks burning with humiliation. I walked out of the cafeteria with my head down, found the stairs at the end of the corridor and sat down.
Suddenly , a hand was placed on my shoulder, and I was startled when I looked up to see a girl with purple hair grinning at me.
"Hey" she said, holding out her hand, and I looked at her suspiciously. Frowning, I slung my bag over my shoulder without saying a word, got up, and turned left, looking for another hallway.
The sound of footsteps approaching me, I quickened my pace and continued on. I'm sure she wants to be my friend, but I don't want to mess with anyone .
If anyone tried to befriend me, they would just humiliate me or take advantage of my grades. I knew very well in the past that I refused to be anyone's pawn or entertainment.
"Hey , slow down . " The girl ran towards me and started matching my speed.
"If I remember correctly, you're new here. Don't worry, I just want to be friends with you." She smiled at me, and dare I say it, her smile was beautiful.
"Sorry, I don't want to make friends." I said I wanted to avoid it, but she immediately grabbed my hand, and a panic rose in my heart, and I flinched.
She immediately left my hand and took a step back. "Sorry, didn't mean to scare you. I just want you to be my friend, and it's okay if you don't want to. The administration building is the next block, second on the right, and you'll find reception there," she gave gave me one last smile, and walked away, because I was alone in the long hallway.
I immediately felt guilty for being rude, but I didn't want to get hurt, even though she didn't look like any danger.
I shook my head and started walking the way she told me to. And she was surprisingly right. When I saw the reception, my chest rose with warmth when a smile was on my lips. I can't believe that someone is really nice to me. This is a bit strange.
I shook my head when I got there, and the receptionist, who looked to be in her early forties, smiled at me. "What can I do for you?" she asked me politely, her voice very soft.
"New admission. Junior . " I spoke and provided my transfer certificate and all the other details, and she told me to meet the principal and show me his room, which was just a few feet away.
I thanked her first, then went to the main hall, knocked on the door before entering.
"Yes?" The principal looked at me from his laptop and motioned me to sit down. I sat nervously and showed him the file.
"Is Clara right?" he asked. I nodded, surprised that he knew me. "Your father called me a few minutes ago, glad you were here, Miss Clara. Call me if you have any questions-" He was about to continue when there was a knock on the door.
"Come in," he said, and a familiar purple head popped up, and she gave him a sheepish smile.
"Ah, I was going to call you Rosalie. Can you show Clara around our school?" the principal asked as he came in, then nodded and sat next to me.
"Let her know the timetable and help her. If you have any classes with her, make her feel comfortable . " The principal said it again, and I was absolutely amazed at how comfortable she was here.
"Let's go, Clara . " Rosalie grabbed her bag and stood up, and I thanked the principal before going out with her.
She took a planner and some schedules and syllabus checklists from the receptionist, and smiled at me again.
"Sorry for the rudeness earlier, I didn't mean to turn you down," I whispered as I started walking with her.
"That's perfectly fine, my offer is still valid," she said, and offered her hand again, which I shook, this time knowing I'd have a friend, and I'm sure she's fine now.
"Rosalie Emerson," she said. "Clara Hughes" I smiled at her politely and she started walking with me.
"Your smile is so beautiful . " I was taken aback by her compliment. I just nodded and said nothing.
Then she started showing me around every corner of the school, from the library, cafeteria, game room, study room, clubs, classes, gymnasium, art room, science lab, restrooms, and playground. By the time we got to the auditorium, I was out of breath.
She sat on the ground and I followed her cue, my breath coming out of my shorts.
"How about college?" Rosalie asked after a while. "Much better than I expected. Didn't expect people to be ready to record everything" My mouth was bitter when I said these words.
"I'm sorry Clara," Rosalie said guiltily, and I shook my head immediately. She was the first one to help me and see me as a friend after a long time, so I think that's not bad.
"It's not your fault that everyone is an asshole," I mumbled, and she let out a chuckle. "God, I'm in love with you already," she said with a smile. Glad I'm not the only one loving this friendship.
"Oh, look who's in the auditorium . " A mocking voice pulled me out of the little bubble. Just when I thought everything was fine once.
Clara
"Ashton?" Rosalie raised her eyebrows without leaving her place. He completely ignored her and turned to me.
"Didn't think I'd see you here," Ashton repeated, his eyes ablaze.
" What do you want ?" I asked looking up at him.
" What else can I do, of course, like you, I'm here for lunch ." He mocked.
He was surrounded by a group of people, all of whom were his little brothers. They follow him, and follow his lead.
Rosa took my hand out of his sight.
I dare not look back, I just hope everything goes well today.
Rosa and I went to the self-service bar, I was so hungry.
A sandwich, a glass of milk, a salad, and a pudding for dessert.
We randomly found a table and sat down to eat.
The dining room was not very quiet, since Ashton had come.
But, I try to stay away from them and not get his attention.
I have to eat enough to have the strength to fight against this demon.
I ate with big mouthfuls. very serious.
"Why do you think she is so fat? I heard she is William's sister."
"Is what you said true? William's house is not bad. She looks very cheap."
"It's true, haven't you seen William PO's latest tweet on ins. It's her."
"Ah? But how did she and Ashton meet?"
"I don't know, but we'd better stay away from her so as not to get involved. Ashton has her eye on her."
"Clara, don't pay attention to them. They are all Ashton's fans. They are fascinated by Ashton's face and the family's wealth. Rosa comforted me.
"Can you tell me more about him? I think I'm prepared."
Only by knowing yourself and the enemy can you not be beaten.
Rosa was silent for a while, I thought she might have her concerns and planned to give up.
She broke the silence.
"Ashton's family, Monroe, is wealthy and one of the investors in this school. This is the biggest reason why he can run rampant in the school. Clara, all you can do is hide."
I swallowed the sandwich in my mouth, I didn't expect my enemy to have a strong backing, thinking about myself, I smiled softly.
I have nothing and I have nothing to lose.
I will not be afraid of him. .
"Those people around Ashton are just like him. They have rich families and have business contacts. They are Ashton's helpers. The people he bullies are very random. As long as he doesn't like it, then that person is the next One goal. Some are poor and some are rich."
"Is there no one who can punish him? Is he so lawless?" I couldn't help asking.
Rosa looked around and said softly, " Young master from a rich family, as long as you don't commit murder and arson, you can pay for it. Clara, if you see him, just run away."
I lowered my head, thinking about Rosa's words, and suddenly felt the surroundings become quiet, and the light on my right was blocked.
I turned around and saw the camera.
"Look at this face, isn't it funny. Clara, don't frown, it's already ugly, and it will make you uglier. Come on, smile. Hayden, you should zoom in on the camera."
I don't know when, Ashton and his partners were by my side. His voice could be heard clearly throughout the cafeteria.
"Look at you eating like a pig." His voice was so loud that everyone stood up and looked at us, and they burst out laughing.
I feel like my ears are red.
Ashton didn't stop there, he took the phone, pointed the camera at my face, and patted my face with the other hand, "Don't you think you're not fat enough?" The sandwich was dropped on the floor and he stomped on it with his boot, and another burst of laughter broke out.
"If you're hungry, I don't think you'd suggest it's a little dirty. You can pick it up."
I hate onlookers, "What are you doing? You dude."
My anger surged up, and I couldn't help saying something that I regretted.
The cafeteria fell into silence for a moment.
I could feel Ashton's anger. His low air pressure.
"Oh, you are really brave. What's wrong with me being a dude? You resist, the more you resist, the more excited I am." His laughter filled the air.
"It seems that I am still too kind to you. Since you love food so much and you have such courage, let us see what you will do."
"Ah..." I screamed.
My hair and clothes were all wet and Ashton poured a full glass of milk over my head.
"You crazy!" I yelled.
"What the hell are you doing, Ashton, it's too much." Rosa glared and stood up to defend me.
Ashton never noticed Rosa, he looked at Rosa, then at me, then at Rosa.
"Heh, another nerd, Clara, someone stood up for you on your first day here. It's applauded."
All his little brothers applauded while speaking.
"It seems that my reputation is not bad enough, Hayden. There are still people who dare to stand up when I punish idiots. I am really touched by the friendship of you people. I just don't know if this friendship can stand What about the test?"
I wanted to growl at him, but his words made me tremble.
the devil.
Rosa, she is innocent, I cannot implicate her.
The man named Hayden came over.
"Ashton doesn't want to touch you yet. If you're sensible, you should keep your mouth shut. Otherwise, the fire will burn on you. Don't cry." He yelled at Rosa.
Rosa kept her mouth shut. I feel her nervousness.
Her hands are cold.
"What are you doing here!" The dean came over.
"Ma'am, Ashton, it's all Ashton's problem, he..." I felt relieved, the teacher's appearance would be the end of this battle.
"Are you a new student?"
I nod.
"I caused so much trouble on the first day! If you want to spend a good time in college, you should be low-key and don't make a lot of noise. Let's go. Next time, bring your self-criticism."
After all, the teaching director dispersed the crowd.
Rosa pulled me, and we left school early.
And the smile of the Ashton winner is in my mind, lingering. . .
